It's one thing to lose Feherty and others, but those are people whose biggest spot in the world of sports is the one's they're featured in. Losing Charles outright would be a concerning since he's more known in hoops before anything else. In my opinion, it might get out of hand if they start targeting people in other sports, especially one of the biggest two. Merylinkid, everything you said is accurate. Mike Vick did not put in the effort like Drew Brees would when it came to NFL preparation. His gifts did the work for him. The latter is a hall of famer while the former first overall pick is not going to the HOF. At least as a player Vick isn’t, but he was nowhere near a bust either. There was a big deal made when during the Smith/Ryan era they had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time, and then a couple years later they made the playoffs in consecutive seasons, a then-unprecedented feat I believe. While that didn’t happen when Mike was with Atlanta, to be fair, he wasn’t there. One may or may not blame Vick for it, but the 4-5 win season occurred when he missed most of the 2003 season due to injury, and second one occurred the year after his final season with the team on the Falcons active roster. Following great years before and after the ’03 year, it was not a success, but not on the levels of modern day Lions/Jet and 2010s Browns. Mike’s final years were .500 and then a couple games under .500. That being said, the lack of preparation or study is true. Coincidentally, Cowherd mentioned this earlier this week as it relates to one’s preparation. In addition to Mike Vick, Favre was more adlib than not. Big Ben too. People like Brady and Brees were more film/study addicts; they did have the athletic gifts the others did. The season, while just around the corner, is still about a month and a half away, this is the issue that helped wreck Roethlisberger's 3rd season. Who knows, but I don't expect Burrow, who's headed to his 3rd season, to travel around on a motorcycle. If he does, so be it, but the chances of him wrecking and riding without a helmet is very rare

I sorta wanted to see Brady vs Jimmy G. The guy who was traded half a decade ago was the starter throughout a season, but somehow managed to miss a head-to-head with TB12. FWIW, I can't see Tom losing anyway, but it would have been an overblown story worth tuning into

I might be in the minority if not solo for being okay as it relates to the co-host thing; I guess. That's fine for me. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck with both permanently. I hardly think the show would crumble if they split duties going forward. I do not think there's a law that mandates just one person hosting a gameshow series. For me, it's show first, host or hosts second. If and when they go with one, I might bet on that being the result of Jennings or Bialik moving on to greener pastures than TPTB making a final official call in the one person that will succeed Alex. That being said, I still would prefer for them to stick to one person as it's uncommon for several people running the show. Especially this one, where it's not just returning champions, but the "play until someone beats you" format for returning contestants. If they don't, so be it. Mayim & Ken sharing duties is nothing like the mess that was 2021

At best, I guess he left the door open. He never said he retired but said he was done playing the game. He's not under contract, so maybe he could return. IMO, it would be either Arizona or Tampa, but I'd be surprised if he returned as a player beyond 2022

Yeah, Arizona does have control. In control, they do have his rights through the middle of the decade. However, Murray has leverage in terms of the Cardinals needing to win now. If they didn't pay Kyler, then they risk a disgruntled franchise QB. If he's not there, then the Cards are in trouble as they don't have much of a team in terms of being NFC or Super Bowl contenders. If Arizona was stacked, then there no need to pay him now. Kyler hasn't won a playoff game. By the way, there was mention elsewhere about the future of the NFL, where teams will address needs everywhere else, so that they won't have to drop money on a quarterback. Get one on the cheap, have a veteran, and then start over with a franchise QB. Of course, that's probably dumb if the face of the team is that good. Arizona hasn't been that great since Palmer and Arians, and that was preceded by nonsense post Warner with Larry. Therefore, it was what needed to happen. IMO, the Cards should be okay. I don't think they'll have to worry about Seattle, and San Francisco isn't a sure bet. Los Angeles is their main competition. It's possible they can do enough to win the NFC West

TBH, I didn't mind the home team thing for the ASG. To an extent. It's fair enough to do what it takes to build interest in a game (which started to die in the late 90s no thanks to interleague stuff). Just my opinion BTW (referencing what I had in my first parenthesis though I might share that with at least someone else on Planet Earth); unlike the Pro Bowl, instead of cancelling the ASG, they made it worth something. I'm glad that they went back to just a fun game. I've said in the past that I wouldn't mind the home team thing unless the pennant winner has a record whose win total is 5 or more against their foe. At that point, the stipulation becomes null and void. I wasn't a fan seeing Chicago as the road team in 2016 or the year before when three teams in the NL would have to start on the road had one of them made it into the fall classic. More than not, I'm with Lantern. Really, if it's tied after 9 innings, it's over. Take the tie and move on. If you want to factor in the derby, then the winner of the ASG should there be a tie, is the league that features the previous nights derby winner. If they must play on after nine innings, then maybe start the 10th inning with the bases loaded

At least most people don't make an effort to memorize or learn the sponsorship names for all the teams. FWIW, if Pittsburgh rolls, people could actually call it by their new name. I agree, Johann. I have to say that of all the painful losses I've come across, both in an out of the sport of golf and in and out of sports, I think I might put McIlroy's fall at the top. If not, I would respect someone saying that it's the toughest defeat ever. I doubt I'd agree, but I would say it's part of it. The reason why it hurts the most is that people usually win (a major) when they have a 4 shot lead and couple their final round without any mistakes. Hats off to Cam Smith as he was the person I wanted to see win if it wasn't for Rory, but it would've been pretty sweet if he'd pulled it off given the golf climate, and his own situation. I'm not going to miss the players that departed to the LIV tour. First things first: football is pretty much returning in a week or so. Then after that it's hoops. Of course there's the Masters. BTW, if they ban the players, I'm not sure they'll reverse it since their history of banishing people has a big history and ounce of permanency. That being said, the hypocrisy, IMO, is that there are changes in everything, both in and out of sports. It's all about the money, and that is fair enough. I guess it's not the case if the player takes advantage of it. That's fair. I'm still okay with the PGA Tour, and there's no need to watch the LIV Tour. There are players that will surface & fill the void. It is fair enough to question whether or not the ones that bolted asked the tour for a raise or more money. If they did, they would have a case; if not, then it's fair game for people to bash them for turning on the organization that made them. Feherty's defect is a surprise and currently out of nowhere. Tiger's exit changes nothing for my viewership as I can't wait for the weekend action. Early in the day, and I can move onto something else. However, that was nice to see while emotional too. I guess each coast has their pros and cons. For instance, all the past and future big sporting events that start at 9 + the games taking forever to conclude (no thanks to reviews and what not). Fortunately, 8 AM PST gives one some decent action, if one is okay waking up at that time on a weekend. The top five include the Camerons, followed by Rory, and then Vik and finally DJ. Smith (-13) and Young (-11) will be paired together. I guess one could be mad at Hovland for wrecking the chance at a McIlroy/Dustin Saturday pairing, but at the end of the day, Hovland did quite well. Plus, Rory barely missed out on the final Saturday pairing. Fair enough. Not sure I'll be available to post updates this weekend, for several reasons, but the final two days will be glorified enough that if you're into it, you'll know what happened at the end of the day

Yeah that was mentioned earlier in the week by one of the insiders. Rooney Field at Acrisure Stadium may have worked, but on a National level, Acrisure doesn't get pimped as much. OTOH, Acrisure Stadium at UPMC would've been perfect IMO. UPMC isn't foreign nationwide or even worldwide, but it would be tougher to omit Acrisure with that scenario, while still maintaining something Pittsburghers can relate to. UPMC on a sports media POV isn't that common People will stick with Heinz Field, though I wouldn't be surprised if I hear Acrisure mentioned more often in the future (especially if Pittsburgh starts winning again). As mentioned, on field success is more important. I probably would not expect relief as a civilian (if your a taxpayer or some business that took a hit in 2020). However, I'd be pissed if there wasn't improvements within the facilities at the stadium for the players, staff, and fans. There will be for the players (and staff), but how about fixing that field. Whew!

Not the best spot, but whatever Heinz to Acrisure To say I was okay with the change would be a sample of a human being lying. To some extent. I wasn’t pleased with the change when I heard about it on Monday morning for several reasons, but even with that, I got over it quickly. The reason why I was saddened was the fact that it got to the point where an “outsider” was a part of the new era as it relates to stadium naming rights. As mentioned, there has been a local connection throughout all the venues the teams in Western Pennsylvania compete in. Now there isn’t. Even though what happened to the former Heinz Field is official, I moved on about 30 minutes later since I’m in a group that’s not going to put much stock in the name of a venue. I’m more focused on what happens with the participants. Plus, if it’s such a bummer, then how are the local corporations sitting around while Acrisure took the title. If it’s so important, then someone in the Pittsburgh area could have stepped up and put up a higher offer. It should not be a case where Mr. Rooney should’ve made it exclusive to local corporations. I wish he did, I suppose, but I can’t fault someone or people from getting as much as possible, especially in today’s environment. It’s the same for the LIV Golf group. I’m not a fan of that, but it’s a fair argument that people should try to get as much as possible & “shouldn’t leave money on the table.” At the end of the day, money isn’t everything, but there isn’t much one could rank over it
