I loved those couples vacation trips. My favorite was watching Julia dancin' with "Daddy" and hearing him sing to her, "and when she gets behiiiiind closed doors".

What do you mean by "stretching out"?? -
They were one of the original gorilla & ant pair teams (but G&G's look wasn't so extreme--he didn't look like he could crush her with one hand!)
-
Lindsey used to be our local NBC sports anchor (hated to see her leave--she was very good). I hope they switched rooms for their interviews. That wallpaper hurts!!
-
I'm reminded of seeing the "new" style of Russian pairs skaters. Didn't they refer to them as the gorilla and the ant? Or something like that (big male with tiny, very young female partner).

I mentioned to MrP914 tonight that Joy will be taking over the 7:00 PM slot. His reaction was not good. He thinks she's "a smart-a$$ and is snarky in a mean, condescending way". Guess he won't be watching her show. I'm basically done with the news/opinion shows by 7 PM anyway so it won't make any difference to me. Still hoping Katy Tur gets the 5 PM slot. I wonder what's going on there (and with Chuck seeming to take over her show at 2:00 PM--is that still going on?)
-
Geez. I had no idea. What the heck did Hal Holbrooke see in her? Or, is he a bit wacky himself? Sounds like the batshit crazy goes along with her frightening singing voice.

Initially, the tirades were fun. After a while, though, they got to be a bit too much. I stopped watching after Delta left. She and "Anthony" made that show for me. There was quite a bit of preachiness in DW but when it happened during *their* crazy antics, it wasn't so very bad (I'm thinking of their getting stuck in a blizzard & having to share a room). I just need to buy some of the dvd's featuring my favorite episodes. "My name? Helen Patton Van Patterson" (or was it Van Patton Patterson, or Patterson Van Patton?)

Long leashes are bad, IMO. I recently watched a woman allow her dog to walk way up onto a neighbor's lawn & urinate on shrubs. Also, you have no control if the dog decides to jump on people. The comment about the stroller in the street reminds me of when I first noticed people pushing strollers in the summer time (back in the late 80's) and parents were wearing their snazzy baseball caps but the baby or toddler was bareheaded. Same with the jogging stroller pushers. -
Tonight's dinner: grilled Greek-ish chicken, Spanish Roasted Potatoes with aioli, and green beans w/ a little butter & lemon juice.

The only way they're going to be able to stop such obnoxious behavior is to address the audience prior to the ceremony. One warning and if the audience persists, shut down the ceremony & tell everyone to go home. Somebody needs to be the grown-up these days (when too many adults forget how to behave). -
Grilled pork chops, scalloped potatoes, and salad. I'm going to look for that cabernet sauvignon (Technique?) at Trader Joe's next trip, altho' I still love Josh cab. sauvignon.

My pet peeve of the decade: the loss of simple applause when a guest appears on a show or something really good is said or the host first appears. For the past I don't know how many years it has to be accompanied by high pitched squeals, woo hoos, screams, etc. Whatever happened to a vigorous round of applause? -
Grilled pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and cooked spinach. All very good (despite being grilled during a heavy downpour!)

Remember when "exactly" was the new hot word? It drove me crazy to hear people repeating it over & over ad nauseum (instead of simply saying "yes"). I still hear it occasionally, but it was truly awful back in the late '90's. -
That's interesting, considering Ina usually grates the nutmeg. I'm trying to remember if she's ever done this before. I know I've recognized the Maille mustard jar (but the label was always turned away) and the vanilla bottle looked very familiar too. But there weren't any commercials for these products. Hmmmm...

I've got two irritants: starting sentences with the word "So", and continuing to use the stupid word over & over. And of course, that charming Valley girl word from the '80's still being horribly overused today: like. I have a stepdaughter who grew up in the SF Valley and has a bad case of OTT usage of "like" (while I clench my teeth, wanting to scream!) -
I just emailed NBC Sports (via their website form) asking them to say goodbye to JW. His snark was offensive and so unprofessional. There are plenty of US champs who could take over that job and work well with Tara & Terry (& maybe help Tara do a better job as well).

Most people, I think, need/like some things pointed out during a skater's program (technical stuff). This way they have a better understanding (usually) of the score received. It's the extra babble that drives me crazy & as we know, that can get worse during the O's.

I've got some words and phrases that affect me like fingernails on a blackboard. *Systemic* so, of course, we're hearing/reading the word several times a day. *Golfing* I can still hear my mom asking, "And will they be tennising as well?" My all-time most loathed phrase is: "I take full responsibility". It's been used so often and by some of the most despicable people that you'd think no one would want to utter that phrase ever again. -

That's your intuition speaking to you (we women were born with it for good reason). Years ago, I had constantly noisy neighbors in the "executive apt" next to mine. Turns out they were busboys at a nearby restaurant whose owner used it to provide cheap housing. I complained and the next morning a tire on my car was slashed. I moved out 3 weeks later. -

Not a good situation at all...potentially dangerous. Can you put your stuff in storage now, find a place safer to live until you move? -

That's what I did when my sister lived in NC and then did the same when she moved to a small city in FL. Yup...stay away from the ones who don't have their own, independent website. Call direct and have a chat with the staff or owner. I did that for my sister's recent birthday, mentioned that she loved blue & white with maybe a small yellow flower tucked in (Swedish flag colors). My sis really loved the arrangement & the blue glass vase. She has a florist in my area that she calls directly to order flowers for me. I've avoided FTD, etc., for years. -
I know. But I was thinking of CW being hired as a replacement for JW.
-
NBC would be very smart to hire Charlie as a replacement. He's a Gold Medalist and he's always been a diplomatic member of Team USA.
