Across the Spider Verse was excellent but Intro already won a ton of awards and we've got another excellent Miyazaki movie in the race. In the minds of the voters I see Miyazaki having the edge based on his amazing career and the fact they already gave Intro awards love. No that doesn't make sense but they think this way. I adore Michelle Yeoh forever and ever. Oh good Emma Stone's a redhead again.

Returning to my red lip post, Justine Triet (Anatomy of a Fall) supports her red lip well. I still haven't seen this movie but everything I've heard is great so I need to get on that.

I'm late from the red carpet but I absolutely love how Leo insists on standing next to Lily Gladstone at every awards show. Using his popularity for her benefit is something that makes me like him more and is something most wouldn't think to do.

True which is why I think they either need no host at all or someone they know the audience already loves. Both options make for a more entertaining evening. Steven Yeun unintentionally quoting Frozen and then thanking his daughter was really funny.

So here's my thing about a red lip. I'm in favor of actors doing it but so many don't let the rest of their makeup, their hair, and/or their clothes support the red. I love me some Lizzie Olsen but her red lip is completely out of place with the rest of her look. None of this actually matters of course but it always catches my attention in a bad way. I never saw Beef but they're loving it tonight so congrats.

I have no idea who the host is but none of his jokes landed with me. I'm sure it's nerves so I hope he'll get in his groove and improve. If RDJ keeps giving acceptance speeches like this one everyone will vote for him just for the entertainment. He's fully deserving to be clear but that could make the difference for voters.

If it occurs to me I'll have a list of go-tos every year. Die Hard and Home Alone are on it but the ones I have the most investment in are Mickey's Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown (60s) and The Grinch (60s). I particularly love the 60s Grinch but that's due to Chuck Jones being involved. Love me some Looney Tunes and Grinch is Looney Tunes-esque in the best way. I found Charlie Brown on Apple+ yesterday and I'm watching Grinch right now on Peacock. Warm fuzzies all over.

Agreed. And we saw Blanche, when given that time, was often (aside from her sisters) able to put things in perspective and accept them. It's a shame neither David nor Viola was written with the same approach as that story Blanche told about Cathy Lee sleeping with Big Daddy in retaliation for being dumped as a childhood friend. That story was hilarious including her summation "my family had a few dollars and I loved them dearly but, when you get down to it, basically they were trash." If David and Viola had been crafted with the same care they probably would have worked better than what we got.

I've had the show on in the background all day and the David episode is currently on. The two things I hate most about this story are David constantly referring to George as "my father" and him badgering Blanche about giving him information. Regarding the first, David acknowledges how hurt Blanche is so the constant "my fathers" rather than simply calling him George seem like he's purposefully twisting the knife. Regarding the second it would have been kinder of David to show up one last time, ask if George had ever been fishing and then we get Blanche choosing to start telling stories as she gives him that picture. I'd rather see them simply bonding over the good memories and qualities of George rather than him being combative about Blanche upset to learn her husband cheated and fathered a secret child. Thankfully the Mother/Daughter beauty pageant shines so bright.

The outpouring of love for him is exactly what any of us can hope for when our time comes.
