S04.E08: Stranger In A Strange Land

IIRC it was $5000. If I am not recalling correctly, hopefully someone will clarify. -
S04.E09: Should've Known Better
PamelaMaeSnap replied to OnceSane's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days
She can compete in a "who wore it better" with Erika's watermelon slices. Also? Shaun Cassidy's hair today followed the same path as that of his late half-brother David ... VERY receded hairline with a little fringe across the top. Not totally bald but not something one would choose to buy from Hair Club For Men. (And yes, it's spelled "Shaun" just like our beloved Tell-All host). -

I guess it's too late to change this topic name to "The Cloak of NO." -

I've gotta think that there are probably a few women out there watching this show who would be down for bringing Usman over here ... he's kinda cute, is respectful to his mom and sisters, and has refrained from killing BGL. He could do SO much better! I keep thinking that there has to be a 90DF spin-off (even if it's a one-and-done) of didn't-get-married-after-all "cast members" who met their true-for-now loves courtesy of their 15 minutes of fame on the show. -
Thank you SO much for the clarification! I really like him a lot, so was happy to see him and then sorry to see him killed off so quickly ... Should I add House to my watch list??? I do love medical "soaps" (huge fan of Grey's as well, and loved St. E back in the day) ...

I've JUST started bingewatching all of this ... I watched it sporadically over the years but due to my work/life commitments and hours during its run, never on a regular basis, so being #stayathome AND retired with not much to do except knit and read, having 15 seasons of this is a treat. But I do have a question that I am hoping someone could answer (did a quick Google with no luck and don't want to read the 83 pages of this thread, not because I'm lazy but because I don't want to get spoiled on my remaining 12-plus seasons, so hope someone can help! Was Omar Epps' run as Dr. Gant at a point in his professional career where it was specifically planned as a short stint as a "special guest star"? Or was there a point where he may have been supposed to have a longer run and they cut it short because of other professional obligations? Definitely a gut punch moment (no pun/irony intended). Thanks in advance for any insight! I'm trying to parse out the episodes in small doses to make it last but I have minimal self-control ...

Late to the party, but I just started binge-watching the series and am about a third of the way through S3 (gonna have to tweak my retired-person schedule and watch a bit during the day for the next two days, since hubby's still got some work but both of his usual night gigs are being done via Zoom tonight and tomorrow, thus I cannot stream anything on TV during those hours) ... Some really great guest star appearances but so far my favorite one-and-done has been Bill Cobbs as the grandfather of the teenage boy basketball star whose knee issue had been misdiagnosed by Benson and when he came back it had grown to full-blown osteosarcoma and cost him his leg (and career) ... my favorite Cobbs role, as a TTYD! fanatic (RIP Adam Schlesinger) was, of course, as Del Paxton. (His TTYD castmate, Obba Babatunde, is currently in a small run as Mia's father in Little Fires Everywhere).

Vegas Chef Prizefight - General Discussion
PamelaMaeSnap replied to Yeah No's topic in Vegas Chef Prizefight
I must be totally misremembering, but I thought that when we were introduced to Lamar, he was the main "steak and red meat" guy. I know he cooked a lot of different things along the way, but I had thought he was a steakhouse guy at heart. Wondering whether they may have come up with the steakhouse concept for the "new restaurant" once they had their winner chosen, otherwise it would be so obvious that at least two-thirds of that original crew would have been completely out of their element (I know, I know, how crazy to think something may not have been fixed behind the scenes). -

I found Lamar by far the most palatable of the group. Sad reason to root for one ... but yeah, if the restaurant is up and running (if Vegas is up and running) when we move to the west coast and do a Vegas road trip (c. 2021-ish) I’d be willing to check it out. -
One of my all-time Top Chef FAVORITES so I am pulling for him 101%!!!

He is apparently, if you look at his IMDB entry, one of the single most successful VO artists in the business, which makes me incredibly happy. I ❤️ Patrick. Necrobumping because while I watched the show occasionally off and on during its run, it was a period for me where I was working crazy hours, often on the road, plus trying to spend quality time with my only when I WAS home ... so I came into this pretty familiar with the characters (most of them, anyway) but watching all of it with a pretty fresh eye ... PLUS on Hulu with no commercials ... This is providing me with an amazingly welcome and awesome dose of escapism which is sorely needed ... and I'm only halfway through S2. I'm trying to dose it out so I can make it last for a while, since our current situation obviously calls for that (escapism). Mr. Snappy thinks I'm cray-cray, calling a hospital drama escapism but it works for me. At least I don't have to worry about spoiling anything in my posts 🙂 Also, glad to be able to see I wasn't the only one wondering about what was happening with Shep's facial hair and that Sgt. Pepper-era McCartney mustache in the middle of other clean-shaven eps.

S04.E07: Who's Crying Now
PamelaMaeSnap replied to Leilani's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days
Wasn’t there a reference at the beginning of the Usman and Baggy Gurl Lisa that Usman’s mom was against the relationship because she thought BGL was going to make him a slave???? Momma knows best. Can’t wait to see them meet! -

I think I've just found my next "hunkerdown" project. I have an unopened bag of shredded coconut begging me to make it a treat. -

I confess I am really and truly hoping that the whole Emmett/asshole dad storyline is over now that Travis has met adorkable Alicia and is totally through with him over that. Wishful thinking, I know but still ... maybe Alicia will find out and come to live platonically with Travis, and they can move in with Dean and baby Pru and be an awesome extended family. The asshole boss dad reminds me of another similarly awful character (who I think was also an older guy in charge) ... I can't remember what show but it's another one in the line of the cop/fireperson/medical crew procedurals-with-some-soap-opera-thrown-in. For all I know, it may have been earlier season of S19. I'm just coming up blank. (FWIW, I watch this, 9-1-1, Rookie et al -- and I THINK it may have been The Rookie). It might even be the same actor LOL. So I know this puts me in the minority, but for some reason I think they're NOT going to "go there" with Vic and Dean. I'm not sure where they WILL go, but I think it's clear to everyone that the chemistry isn't there and there are so many other storyline options they can follow (though I guess it will be next season ... aren't ALL of these shows in their end-of-regular-season countdowns)?

I fess up that while I am NOT a fan of having a crossover forced down our throats every single week, I am really liking S19 on its own. I especially loved the character development with Sullivan this week ... especially since in real life, Boris Kodjoe (Sullivan) is half Ghanaian and half Jewish (or possibly one-quarter, I just know that one grandparent's line is German Jew) -- his grandmother was a Holocaust survivor and HER mother died in the Holocaust. I thought when he started telling Pruitt his history, it would reflect that ... when he/they went for his grandfather being a Nazi, that was ballsy.

My DirectTV guide lists the next episode as "Series, Season finale." PLEASE tell me that I am reading this wrong and that it has not been canceled!!!

Supermarket Stakeout - General Discussion

Question: Am actually enjoying this show (kinda like Chopped with a twist) but haven’t figured this out yet ... do the chefs get to keep any leftovers from round to round or do they have to start fresh (minus the pantry) each round? -
THAT BROKE EVERY DAMN DAM!!!!
-
RedbirdNelly, I absolutely consciously thought every single one of your comments! Will you accept this stethoscope (cross-plugging)?
-
Yes!!! I was sure that's where they were going, with the "so I gave up my musical theatre dreams to become a firefighter" outcome. That said, even if I sound snarky, this episode landed me in tears at least three times. Also? Baby Pru is the CUTEST! BABY! ON! TV!
-
I wondered about that as well!!!! Coupled with the original theme song on the credits, I definitely was wondering WTF. Glad it wasn't just me.

I loved The Deuce (especially having grown up in Manhattan during that period), and was thrilled to see AT LEAST seven Wire alumni in the show (I may have missed a few): Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (D'Angelo on Wire/Chris Alston on Deuce), Chris Bauer (Frank Sobotka/Bobby Dwyer), Gbenga Akinnagbe who just starred on Broadway in To Kill A Mockingbird (Chris Partlow/Larry Brown), Anwan Glover (Slim Charles/Leon), Michael Kostroff (Maury Levy/Rizzi), Dom Lombardozzi (Herc/Jack Maple) and Method Man (Cheese/Rodney).
