  1. I really did like the duet with Vic and Miller (and also wonder if it could be a heavy-handed but still welcome pairing of those two, since I NEED them to stop this endless cross-pollinating with Grey's) ... also always welcome to hear Miller sing (I'm still one of the handful of people on earth who have never seen "Hamilton" but looking forward to seeing him in the filmed-from-original-stage-for-a-movie version). Agree that getting the back story on Maya's dad helped explain her but also agree it could not have been done more heavy-handedly ... also, because my memory is true swiss cheese (at least I have a medical excuse but it's still a pain in the ass), can someone tell me if the Maya-is-gay backstory is new or just revealed in this episode? I was already sweeping up the "all this is news to me" detritus from the "Probie Mateo is dyslexic AND a Dreamer" storyline on "9-1-1: Lone Star." It's like I no longer know what's old news I missed and what's a reveal anymore. I'm starting to wonder what they're doing with Sullivan's character (I mean, I KNOW they're making him a closet maybe not so closet opioid addict ... is the leg an old injury? Compartment syndrome?). I can't help but wonder between his OBVIOUSLY being outed in an upcoming episode (most likely when he makes an error that results in a fatal or near-fatal result to a member of the squad) and the hookup of Andy and Jack which ends the Andy and Sullivan pairing, is he being written off the show? I flove Boris Kodjoe (a little bit of everything, including being the great-grandson of a holocaust concentration camp victim) and would love to see him in a role other than one that is becoming less and less appealing.
  2. My question was who won and so thank you for the answer (David was definitely my favorite) ... For some reason, my TV cut out before they announced the winner, and since I was only half-paying attention at first, I couldn't figure out if it was a current episode or a rerun (I'd had a long day LOL). There were back-to-back episodes on with the one before this being the one where Eli won, I guess to earn one of the spots in the finals. But I wasn't sure if they were just showing a lot of older reruns or a current season (I don't watch Chopped "religiously" but I always stick around when I hit it while channel-surfing).
  3. Hoping someone can help me out here, though I know there have been so many episodes that they may all jumble together ... Was watching an episode of the $50,000 Chopped Champions series yesterday (Feb. 18) -- I THOUGHT it was the final four but cannot find anything online that indicates any of these four were 50K Chopped Champion winners and the TV cut out on me before it was over ... The four were David Thomas, Eli Dunn (the first one chopped),Fernanda and Kristina ... This is the link that identifies it on the Chopped page but there is not date ... https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/chopped/photos/meet-the-competitors--chopped-champions-tournament It can't have been SUPER SUPER long ago because annoying Christian (ugh) was one of the judges. I know there was a challenge with geoduck (and still can't figure out why it's pronounced gooey-duck) and one I think with huckleberries and dessert pizza and hot red peppers. If anyone remembers this or what year it was, etc., can you tell me who won the 50K? Thanks!!!
  4. You and me both. Like I don't already hate precious TV time being wasted with way-too-long post-race interviews I was yelling at the TV because I KNEW this meant the show would be cut. Will keep checking my Hulu so I can watch it again and find out what happens. Agreed, though, that Billy Burke = good-looking bad guy. And from what I can tell, Kyle Secor had still not shown up on my screen when it cut out. Or else I blinked and missed him. Is he still handsome?
  5. I'm kind of relieved to know that I'm not the only person who thought this was the. most. boring. episode. of Grey's ever. I fell asleep first time through and second time through I understood why. I do watch Station 19 but don't love it (though at least we were spared Andy in this mishmash). I am hoping that if (when) it gets canceled they may at least bring Ben back to Grey's ... the only other S19 character I really DO like is Dean (love Oak!!!). Would love to see him join the GA cast. The rest, meh.
  6. So I don't actually remember the Celine Dion outfit (partly because I think I am allergic to all mentioned of Celine Dion) ... and while I agree 110% that if this was indeed a pivotal watershed fashion moment (as it clearly was), looking at the photos of her and of Sergio's design, I think his is way more gorgeous. And this comes from someone who DOES NOT LIKE Sergio at all ... I just thought his design was lovely and I especially loved the powder pink lapels. J'adore Marquise. And his model. SWATCH IN A BOW TIE!!! ❤️ Finally, I've been all in on this show for SO many years but if Victoria wins, I will NEVER watch again.
  7. Since I was sure Christian was going to use his save this week (wonder if it had same expiration date as immunity?), with the whole crew there I was really wishing he’d use it on ShaVi
  8. This ... is hilarious! And, no joke, my husband and I were talking about "Fiddler on the Roof" YESTERDAY ... despite being in his 60s, a professional musician who works with a lot of show music people, a New Yorker who grew up around a lot of music and musicals, and a movie fanatic, he has NEVER seen any production (film or stage) of "Fiddler on the Roof." So I'm searching for the DVD of the film (which isn't THAT awful) for us to watch together ... now, I'll also look for fashion ideas! ETA: Oh, and did I mention we’re both Jewish and my grandparents could have been Tevye’s neighbors in Anatevka?
  9. I totally get the med show confusion (I watch both ... okay, I watch almost ALL of them, though not New Amsterdam -- yet) and I didn't even really blink at first because I recognized the characters LOL (though admittedly, the Chicago trifecta is next on my delete list because it doesn't engage me as much as the others) ... This is also true for me with the police/rescue shows I watch ... I am constantly confusing the Rookie and 9-1-1 Original Recipe.
  10. THANK YOU!!! I love The Resident and I LOVE A.J. Austin/MJW. Talk about a child star who has really come into his own as an adult. The episode with his parents (all of them) made me cry.
  11. It took me until today to understand the Atticus reference. I keep forgetting that that's Linc's name.
  12. I thought the shots of Simms' surgery were about as graphically gross as anything I can remember Grey's airing until now. I only HOPE I don't remember it (I have major medical memory issues so it will be just my luck to remember THAT forever!)
  13. BTW, thank you to whomever corrected my bad ... so, Brody was the one who "outed" Schmitt as the Mer tattler, not Sims? I have ZERO recollection of either one so I just misread whatever I could find about either/both of them ... Also, for some reason, when I saw that tiny clip of Lorraine (Sims grandmother?) my first thought was CiCi but she's dead.
  14. I thought they did that just so they could have all their injured interns in one room to make life easier for THEM. In his condition, not sure how much Parker was hearing, understanding or retaining ... I'd been hoping for more screen time for Parker since his debut and this was how they chose to do it? AND he's not considered a regular yet but Hellmouth and Schmitt are? Show, I love you and am your bitch for all eternity but stop making bad choices, please. Glad to know I wasn't the only person sitting here thinking WHO THE F**K IS SIMS? Apparently he was the guy who "outed" Schmitt for (accidentally) turning in Mere. And Brody is ... someone who has never been in my living room.
  15. SO SO SO very much this! He'd become pretty much my favorite snarky character and it seems like they just decided midstream they needed him to be the asshole to make the other characters who kinda ARE assholes seem less assaholic and it is NOT WORKING FOR ME AT ALL. Bring back original recipe Koracik, please.
  16. I rewound TWICE to make sure I heard that right and then make sure again. I am 60 years old and I don't believe I have ever heard that word spoken aloud ... read it eleventy-mazillion times, yes, so I knew what it was, but used (especially in this context)? Gobsmacked. I hope he was just being facetious or deliberately fakey-smart. Also, I too have Jessica's PJs (or ones nearly identical ... really soft and comfy). Finally, while I am guessing they all implode at some point, I am really loving Derek. There's just something adorkable about him. And I also think that Brandon has made yooge strides from last episode. He's finding his comfort zone (and that gift was a sweet touch).
  17. Both the character and the actor and trans men. I thought that moment where she decided, well, okay, I GUESS I can deal with the black guy (though I'm sure she thought that with different words) and he whispered that to her was awesome ... predictable but really well delivered.
  18. I bet you are right on both accounts! But i do find it sort of ironic! It also seems (and I may have missed some of the actual locations) that most if not all of the 10 "contestants" were living in either Virginia or Maryland (we know Taylor was in Maryland and I thought one other woman was as well ... they definitely identified NoVa in a few other clips)
  19. Moved here (to the DMV) 30 years ago after growing up in New York City and heard this expression my first week here. No better way to describe it as a whole ... though there is a lot to love if you can put on blinders (especially of late), this really should be the official motto of the DMV (for those who have never heard the term, it stands for DC-Maryland-Virginia, because for all intents and purposes, with the exception of "taxation without representation," the two neighboring Maryland counties -- Prince Georges and Montgomery and a few independent cities -- and Northern Virginia are considered "greater D.C." I'm guessing the fact the couples are living in Arlington (Va.) supports that ... I do wonder why, if it's "Washington D.C." version, they couldn't have tried to have them actually live IN D.C.
  20. Either NONE of us remember the wave pool or oops! I’m definitely in on this so far ... already a fan of original recipe 9-1-1 so ... Hoping for more storyline for Paul (Brian Michael Smith).
  21. Yes!!!!! In 3rd grade we had a “sewing class” and made “samplers” (that’s what they were called but this was 50 years ago so I don’t know if it’s still a thing). We had to stitch the alphabet and the absolute first thing I thought of when I saw Sergio’s lettering was that we did a better job than he did. The fact that he was safe and Delvin and ShaVi were B2 convinced me the fix was in to keep this season’s villain around a while longer for the draaaaaama because it seems most of the others are pretty likable. I just hate losing ShaVi for the sake of this asswipe. I feel he had so much more to contribute.
  22. I realize I'm coming a little late to the party here but I've been bingewatching this show of late (it goes well with knitting) and maybe it's hormones (joke, I'm long past that stage) but I have yet to watch an episode where I DON'T get teary-eyed at some point. Is it possible I'm no longer jaded? Does anyone else here stealth-cry a lot at this show? I had my Ancestry.com done and there were virtually zero surprises (except that I was able to trace back my paternal grandmother's line, the one that had been the biggest mystery, to the mid-1700s in "Eastern Europe") but I'm trying to convince my husband to spit into a tube for me so we can give our newly-married daughter everything she needs to know about her ancestry ... especially since hubby doesn't actually know the identity of one of his grandfathers (he only knew his step-grand in real life and only knew his blood-grandfather by what is obviously an "Ellis Island Special" name).
  23. I suddenly realize that I come from the small country of Stevienicks. BTW, I still have this amazing gown my mom wore to "fency-schmency" events in the 60s ... I'd love to just touch the neckline when she was ready to leave (with my dad looking handsome in his tux) ... they were rare occasions but every so often he had to go for his work. She promised me that when I grew up I could have the gown. And it fit me for approximately 15 minutes when I was 12 before "the girls" busted out all over. BUT ... I still have it in a "garment bag" in my closet, 50-plus years later ... there is NO tag in it so I have absolutely no idea who the designer was but she showed up in a few fashion columns back in the day always wearing this gown ... If I knew how to post a photo here I would ... it was sort of Cleopatra-inspired, very slim and fitted, burnished gold threaded material with a Cleo neckline of several layers of faux gemstones. Sounds tacky but it was GORG.
