  1. I am SO sorry you have to go through all of it. But it's your dad. You can't do anything but the best for him. I'm sure Cassie is going to have some hard choices to make.
  2. Exactly. And the money to pay for that will come from where? Jenny won't get any money until he dies, so unless he has a big retirement pile, Cassie will probably be paying for it unless Jenny also has a pile of money she's willing to spend. Are they married? If so, he could have a lawyer dissolve the trust for the boys, give Jenny rights of survivorship, and allow her to control his money in general. I don't know if UK law is substantially different from US law in these matters. So many questions that will need to be answered to know what's right or wrong.
  3. Don't forget though, this show is NOT about actual fashion. It's about a GLOBAL BRAND, as they keep hammering at us. Clothing is only a small part, from what we saw last season. It's also shoes, bags, accessories, fragrances, dishes, pillows, phone cases, vape pens, can coozies, USB sticks, disposable lighters, note pads, etc......LITERALLY anything that can have a logo or name slapped on it and produced by the millions, for the masses. Fashion? Real style? Wearable designs? *sigh* Only by accident. Or by Gary.
  4. I'm liking it so far too. As a Brit Adrian Monk, he needs to charm up a bit, but that probably won't work too well. The Brits tend to like their charming guys as criminals or victims. *LOL* Mother is such a character, she's scary and ridiculous. I can't imagine tolerating that kind of behavior. I do not want to see her move in with him.
  5. Yes, but..... We have no idea of Jenny's backstory and if she will be around when Dad starts really needing help. It's always easy for people to say "Oh, I'll be there", but look in hospital waiting rooms and care facilities and the reality is sometimes WAY different. She says she knows what she's signing up, for until that time arrives. And what exactly does she do, do we know? Is she working or retired with a pension? Or is dad supporting her? She a bit younger than him, as was pointed out last season when they were talking about her moving in with him. We need to know a lot more.
  6. I'm annoyed that Cassie can't manage to wear something a little more professional than a plaid flannel shirt I know she's a DCI and does some grubby field work, but she used to look at lot better, at least wearing a decent shirt and doing something with her hair. Her "I don't give a crap" attitude is really showing..... Interesting that she asked John if he thought she was really angry all the time and it took him a while to answer. I hope that told her something. She did seem pleased at the end, when the team said they were glad to have her back. I was waiting for her to say "But not for long!"
  7. I used the term "gender fluid" because "Unisex" implies only 2 sexes. I'm not totally up to speed on how many their are now, but I'd rather err on the side of more than 2.
  8. I took it to be much the same as when on PR or other design shows, the judges ask "Who is your girl"? (or guy or gender neutral individual, etc.) They want a backstory, or a scenario involving who the person is, where they're going and why they'd be wearing this particular outfit. For Gary, he indicated that the textiles he used were historically based in the period of time that the girl on the tombstone lived and died. Pretty concrete actually. And for me, his explanation was a lot less esoteric than most of the others who were using all the buzzwords and making various word salads to describe their looks. I call it the "Naval Gazing Perspective". Just using ordinary terms and descriptions isn't enough these days. You have to make almost no sense to normal people to be considered an "artiste". *LOL*
  9. The biggest problem for me is that none of these "designers" are required to do much construction or sewing. I know, it's NOT PR, but how can you design anything successfully if you don't know how to sew the pieces together? The biggest problem Lucie had was the inability to communicate her design clearly to the overnight construction/sewing folks. The step-by-step construction notes were necessary, but she failed miserably. Maybe it's the language barrier, but I doubt it. What name Fashion designer could ever have gotten away with that before they hit the big time? I know most of them probably have decent skills, but they just haven't been displayed yet. It's like Sheldon on "Big Bang Theory" learning to swim on his living room floor, by watching YouTube videos. It doesn't work that way! I think you need to be able to do French seams. And you need to be able to hand-stich buttonholes. You need to know how to insert a welt pocket. You need to know how to set a collar. You need to know fabric, and you need to know fit to be really good. But then again, this is about building a BRAND, not making amazing clothing. Big difference.
  10. I'm so grateful Sam Neill is still left for me to crush on, since Sean Connery is gone. I LOVED his relationship with Caroline and that whole story arc. He still looks hot. Maybe Caroline could give Robyn a second chance and send her to the New York office for a while, after rehab. She could send Melody with her, just for a few episodes. Then they're back to London and more shenanigans with the Brits. And as screwed up as it sounds, I find Tom very attractive. I just think he's Robyn's end game, even though they're both addicts, and that's a guaranteed disaster. I really liked both seasons and will be waiting impatiently for season 3.
  11. Absolutely. If the dress had a 3/4 or kimono sleeve, I'd be ordering it now. I ADORE that shade of slate blue and the shape is good for my body type. But yeah, no puff sleeve. *LOL*
  12. Joshua's looked ridiculous to me. I simply cannot understand the love for the shorts & stupid Kimono. He got the shape kind of right, but the acid colors are horrible to me. And SHUT.UP.ABOUT.YOUR.KID Not who I thought should win. Andrea's stretch jersey dresses are so simple & unconstructed, there's almost no design there. An unskilled teenager could whip one up in a few hours with 2 seams. Skin-tight sausage casing is NOT flattering. But those dresses are "Forever 21". I'm seeing her as the one-way monkey this season. That print was very spidery. Hated it. Men are not wearing skirts, they just look dumb. I haven't seen any photos from Cannes or the Med of ANY guys in skirts. Not happening, not even in the enclaves of the rich & famous. No matter what crap they throw out there, they can't make fetch happen. Olivia? Green fruit stripe is for gum, not men's shirts. South American Andrea's stuff is so heavy and "Shah's of Sunset". Dushyant missed again, his clothes made no sense. He was the right one to go. Again, Gary had my favorite looks. He wuz robbed. And Nina Garcia is somewhere saying "I question your taste level" to half the people on this show.......
  13. I don't know, vocal fry has got a grating sing-song thing that I've never heard from the hearing impaired. My nephew was born partially deaf & had both aids and implants, so I know how the aurally impaired speech comes out, and hers is just different. Regardless, I won't pick on her for her voice anymore. But the head scarf is a choice, and it bugs me.
  14. Interesting start, Tim & Heidi look great. She is 48 years old! But I'm sure they're filming everything with those super-flattering lenses....*LOL* I like seeing them all conceptualizing & putting together their 2 initial looks. It's a quick peek at their real lives and a nice bit of info to have going in. Kind of like "Road to the Runway" where we were introduced to the new designers of PR in the later seasons. I am absolutely fascinated by Gary and the historical foundations he uses for his designs. Sad he wasn't able to keep his business going, but maybe this will bring him back. I'm glad Tim knows who he is. Losing his shop must have been brutal. His coat was stunning, as was his dress. He's already my favorite and I'm glad he won. He can work on the interviews! Joshua's #1 mistake is talking about how "he's doing it all for his wife & child". That's always crap, so trite and I hate it. No, if what you do is only to take care of them, you don't go on a REALITY TV SHOW, you'd have a stable job, 401K and full health coverage. Maybe his wife has all that, in which case he's still doing what he does for himself. Git. NY Andrea is very disco queen for me. Not impressed by Raf, Ally's soccer mom, Dushaynt's pajamas, Lucie's shapeless stuff, Olivia's weird pocket & straps and the rest. Winnie is a GREAT change from Naomi. I NEVER want to see her on my TV screen again. I remember when Winnie was discovered by Tyra Banks on ANTM, back when she was still being called Chantelle. She's articulate & thoughtful. I like her judging with Jeremy & Heidi.
  15. I loved Gary's Halloween costume, as it was one almost anybody with some time & effort could make, without a lot of specialized tools and pricey supplies. Plus it was funny. But his mantle was kinda crappy. Points for an obscure "Holiday Celebration" though! Chelsea's mantle was just gorgeous. I really loved the asymmetrical swag garland. Just stunning to me. But I agree the town was strange, with no color. And I don't like mixing the holidays either. They obviously know exactly what the challenges are, and what their designs are going to be going in. 99% sure they've all done most of what they're doing on camera already, probably several times. Something about Kara I just don't care for. Everything she does is foam, that weird Aunt Jemima head-wrap annoys me, and her vocal fry is like nails on a chalkboard. Her Halloween mantle looked like she just picked it up at Party City, put it in the back of her Subaru and drove it to the barn. So generic.
  16. I honestly didn't think there'd be a 2nd season, but I suppose I'll jump back in. Jonny Cota hasn't exactly become a household name in the last year, so we'll see if whatever new figurehead they appoint this season can do better!
  17. Just wow. I can only imagine that those who haven't lost a parent are unaware how treasured, desired and blessed having concrete, written memories of that parent can be when you're older. The flight logs, postcards, letters and other memorabilia I have that contain my dad's crazy, lefty backhand writing are unbelievably precious because they were written by him, but to me. He died almost 6 years ago, and I would give ANYTHING to have just one more birthday card with his scrawl on it. Just when I think these threads can't still surprise me, I'm proved SO, SO wrong. I really have stayed too long at this party.
  18. I did NOT realize we were getting more episodes! I thought this run was IT! (I obviously didn't read enough about this new season!) I am unbelievably happy now.....
  19. The only other time I heard him say it was when he was asking Lexy if she was putting some between her layers of Lasagna. And a perfectly legit question. Maybe they didn't have regular Parm in the kitchen and he was educating the viewers on what they were using instead. It's not actually a typically well-known hard grating cheese to ordinary cooks used to the green cans of Kraft.
  20. Basically, she said if she was a legend, nobody would want to go up against her, and she'd have no challenge. (Really paraphrasing here!)
  21. Joe was so cute with Nancy. He's definitely mostly business, but he did grow up cooking at Lidia's knee and is very skilled. He just doesn't bring it out too often. What does "Cheese it on the stove" mean? I haven't heard that before. Does it mean literally don't put in the cheese while the pasta is on the stove and maybe over-melts? Anybody know the phrase? Tay needs to STOP.SHOUTING.EVERYTHING! Go Autumn! She's got too many tatts & plays up the "I'm Italian" thing, but she's sweet & her dish looked & sounded amazing. I'm good with her winning. Anne has that Real-Housewife-Instagram-Influencer-wannabe look and vibe. The hair, the attitude, and when she said the phrase "Party in your mouth" I wanted to punch her in her mouth party. I ABHOR that phrase. Really, really ABHOR. I hate she was in the top. I'm on board with something about Lexy I just don't buy with the poor-girl-cooks-rich thing. If you don't have money, you sure can't waste it by experimenting. I think Joe nailed it with she grew up with plenty of money and learned to cook without having to pinch pennies, so it's now her "hook". I'm glad Alejandro was saved, but he needs to step it up. Good thing Miles blew it.
  22. I felt that way about the 5th season of "Luther". Waited for it for YEARS! So excited when it dropped. Hated every second of it, watched it once and vowed to never watch it again. As far as I'm concerned, the series stops at 4. Sometimes bad things happen to good shows. Very disappointing, but then you just have to keep the good parts and forget the bad stuff exists.
  23. Unusual for me, but I'm going to do the once-a-week watch instead of Passporting or paying on Prime the way I usually do. It is only 5 more episodes. A friend says that season 5 has been given the green light, so that's great!
  24. Thanks Driad, I use Wiki a lot to show-review too! This is an entry I hadn't seen before..... "Series four follows the discovery of Matthew Walsh's headless corpse, apparently frozen since his disappearance in 1990, when he encountered five police trainees out celebrating passing their training programme. Two of the five are still serving police officers.[11]" Answers that question for us! *LOL* Oh, and I REALLY hated not having an actual "heads-up" on the first view of the corpse. Seriously.
  25. I'd imagine if Cassie did her training there and all of those involved stayed in the area, she would probably know at least some of them. I don't remember enough about Cassie's backstory to be sure she grew up there & went through training locally. Law enforcement folks move around a lot, by choice and by chance. I'll venture we'll get the bits & pieces as the episodes move on.
