Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
ChocolateAddict replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
The Asa box awkwardness where Michelle is basically a bump on a log while Lauren cries. Lauren talks about how much she's wanted to share the memory box with her and Michelle vaguely mutters about how nice it all is. Given Michelle doesn't particularly care about her own kids, the daughters-in-law aren't getting much love. -

Ahhh that makes sense. Either way, it was clearly difficult and painful even without the added baggage of her previous miscarriage. She's still so young in many ways. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
ChocolateAddict replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
For all Lauren's insensitivity and self-centredness, I feel for her with Bella's birth. I doubt she was told what to really expect given that fundies think sex ed is dangerous and talk about birth as a blessed event etc etc. She's expecting to go through a beautiful, spiritual process and instead she's in incredible pain with a failed epidural and a difficult birth. That's got to be a hell of a come down. She's stuck with Michelle who clearly doesn't care for her given the miscarriage conversation and Siah who she doesn't really like. Although she's got her mum, this would be the most stressful time of her life and she's got an uncaring MIL and distant husband there for support. And as much as we snark on her drama queen behaviour, I think that she struggled with the miscarriage. This birth would have been super emotional and she may well have been scared that something could go wrong again. She never got any kind of professional help to work through her pain at the miscarriage or her feelings about being pregnant with Bella. All in all, she's going through an emotionally difficult birth and then the birth is painful and likely not what she was expecting. That's tough for anyone, let alone for someone with no coping skills.- 6.4k replies

I think it's easy to forget that it wasn't just JB&M who were telling the Duggarlings that their parenting was the best way to raise children. Michelle was given a prize for being MOTY, they were invited onto national TV shows with a wide reach (like Good Morning America) and they've been doing speaking tours for more than a decade now. Not to mention the obvious one which is that they were rewarded with a national TV show as a platform to show off their superior skills in childrearing and by exension, they got a house, international travel and a comfortable lifestyle without having to work. In the mind of the Duggar offspring, this external validation would reinforce the idea that JB&M were so amazing at parenting that the entire country wanted to know about it. After all, it's not just their immediate circle who thinks they are fantastic. Hell, even Joshgate wasn't enough for JB&M to lose speaking gigs and now they're back on TV. So any questions they had about how they were raised would be going against what they've been told from hundreds of people and continue to hear on social media. All these thousands of people who admire JB&M couldn't be wrong! Not to mention any criticism of their parenting is ignored as the ultimate enemy, 'Christian persecution'. It's not exactly a surprise that the next generation is by and large following the formula and mimicking the greatest parents ever. Just another way that JB&M and TLC have screwed them over.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
ChocolateAddict replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Couldn't agree more @GeeGolly. Somehow in the space of one day it became fact that this little girl (I don't even think it's fair to use her name) lives with Josh and Anna and, further, the speculation was that she has been sexually abused. Given how upset everyone here was about Pickles outing the fifth victim, it seems unbelievable to me that this child has been openly discussed as being another potential (almost confirmed) victim complete with her name published. For crying out loud, she's been called a 'slave' and trafficking victim! From the information on this forum it would be incredibly easy to find everything about her given her name, age and family relation to the Duggars has been posted. This rumour originated from the DuggarSnark sub and spiralled very quickly despite there being no evidence beyond a Facebook secret group. While I don't care if Boob and Josh were speculated as being guilty of tax fraud or whatever, I do take issue with this girl being discussed as a sexual assault victim based on absolutely no evidence. Bloody hell, we don't even know if she lives there! As @Temperance said, she could just be in photos with them because she's a family friend, we don't know. I like snarking on the Duggars and this is in no way defending Josh & Anna. But this little girl now has hundreds of people reading about how she is a potential sexual assault and child trafficking victim, complete with all the identifying information you could need to find her without evidence. And that's not cool. -
JD and Abbie: Captured Before the Rapture
ChocolateAddict replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
It's called the 'White Saviour Complex' where someone (usually from a Western country) goes to a disavantaged area with the intention of helping but really just reinforces their own priviledge and contributes to the cycle of poverty, or worse, feeds the exploitation of serious issues. For instance, Westerners visiting orphanages as voluntourists brings in big money because they usually donate money and promote the 'great work' done. This reinforces that having children grow up in orphanages (a deeply harmful practice) brings in money and tourists. It also feeds into negative stereotypes about particular areas or cultural groups who are perceived as being vulnerable and needing aid compared to the 'generous' volunteers. I think the Duggars are worst than White Saviours. When they go to a country they have no actual intention of helping and make no effort to bring genuine change to the community. A teenager on their gap year who is helping build schools in Vietnam isn't helping but at least their intent is to help the community. I firmly believe that the Duggars go to for the ego trip that being the rich, white family with 19 (!) kids brings them. Hell, they hand out lollies, Bibles and banana bread. Case point, JD and crew barging into a distaster zone, throwing their weight around and deliberately bringing weapons to intimidate the locals. There is nothing about that which suggests that they are in any way interested in helping, they just want to be the 'big guys' who get their faces on the news by talking somberly about the relief efforts while ignoring the knoweldge of experts and locals. There is nothing well meaning about that.- 4.0k replies

Y'all SEVERELY underestimate Jill. She locked down that job literally years ago when PRECIOUS Nurie asked her to be her Matron of Honour at their vow renewal. No doubt Jill will make sure that Nurie is the centre of attention at this BLESSED event by wearing white, singing at the ceremony and being in absolutely every photo of the SWEET couple. Bonus points if there is a couple's photo of Nurie and Tim and Jill talks about her wedding fifty thousand times. I'd put money on her asking the M kids to be flower girls/ring bearers because there is no way Anna is being a bridesmaid. This post is from September 2017

Sierra posted that her littlest is in hospital, he's only a few months old and had a febrile seizure following RSV Bronchiolitis. The worst part? In her incredibly long Instagram post, she includes a selfie in the helicopter and talks about how she asked a nurse for a photo so that she could document her motherhood journey. This was right after she was told her kid would have to be flown to a specialist children's hospital. It makes me sick that Michelle, Jill and Sierra always make their children's medical emergencies about them. Their children are scared and hurting yet each of these women find the time to take photos of them and talk about how they are feeling.

I was thinking about Kail's desperation to hold onto Chris at the expense of pretty much everything including her friends and her actual job filming. I think that part of it is her obsession to prove that she 'made it' the same way that she constantly goes on lavish holidays, upgrades her car, moves to bigger houses and buys expensive bags. Not to mention that out of the people in her life and even the TM2 girls she's the outlier who hasn't got her love life together. Chelsea has a husband and cute family, Leah hasn't popped out another kid in 6 years and is presenting herself as a strong single mom who lives for her daughters (accurancy of this statement is doubtable) despite flirting with Jeremy, at least she was married to him. Hell, even Jenelle was able to snag someone who until recently had been with her for 3 years. Jo and Javi have 'stable' partners (cheating aside, Lauren is sticking around). Kail is the only one who is 3x3 and each of them has walked away. She can't put herself out there as a 'badass single parent' while she's got a off/on loser who she chases endlessly. So she keeps chasing because she doesn't want to be seen as a trashy idiot who got knocked up by three different guys. At least if Chris was around she could present Lux as being the product of a stable relationship rather than a stupid decision to not use protection. Without him she looks almost as trashy as Victoria. She wants to be seen as a success rather than the one who can't hold onto a guy. Not to mention, if Chris walks she'll struggle to find a guy, realistically the dating pool gets smaller with every kid so he is sort of her last shot. He would be the proof that she can hold onto a guy who actually wants to stick around. Thank you for coming to my TED talk 😂😂

Jenelle: Birther Of 3, Mother To None
ChocolateAddict replied to DangerousMinds's topic in Teen Mom 2
If this is real, I hope Jenelle is safe purely for the sake of the kids. She's currently got two children in her care and an ex with a history of violence against women and access to guns. Having left him, she's never been more at risk and David has form for abuse and murder. I really, truly dislike her but I wouldn't wish death on anyone who has left an abusive relationship. -
She's actually smarter then Kail/Jenelle et al because she wouldn't have invested any of her own money in this. The company is online based and already has a solid customer base. They contact her and suggest a "collaboration", she picks the ideas board that she likes and they produce it. They then sell it online to their existing customer base and get Chelsea to promote it on her Insta to get more sales. Unlike with what some of the other girls are doing, Chelsea was pretty much guaranteed sales because she is working with a company that already has customers. It's just a way for the company to have an exclusive TM line and the opportunity to market to Chelsea's followers. It only really works for Chelsea because she's built the SAHM brand which (while totally basic) sells stuff especially online. Jenelle can't sell anything, Kail comes with baggage and Leah doesn't have the followers or the engagement. She's got the combination of a clean background, cute family and strong online presence. Financially it's the smartest choice. She's not investing anything, doesn't have to build a business or create a customer base from scratch like most of the TMs who start a business have tried to do (see: Kail, Jenelle, Leah, Cate/Tyler, Maci etc). All things considered, it's easy work to do because her manager probably negotiates the deals on her behalf. I don't know how much money she would be making out if it but all together she is likely looking at six figures.

It never fails to shock me how fundementalist fathers can be so condensending and awful to their daughters while talking about how precious they are. This particular arsehole is proudly boasting that his daughters are so insecure that they ask him about their outfits and what to say to other people. Reminder, these are fully grown women. According to this, Grace's only noteworthy traits are that she prays, bakes and makes coffee. Lovely to know that two of the three things that your father remembers are when you make him food. Meanwhile, can someone please hand him the Father of the Year award because he even went out to find them husbands! But in what has to be one of the most impressive backhands I've seen in a wedding announcement, he talks about how no boys have wanted to go near them for well over a decade. And instead God decided that rather than have their own lives they should act as unpaid labour for their father's "ministry". And to finish off, his daughter who has been on this earth for more than three decades will be "transferred to the protection and leadership of her husband" and everyone else has to adjust to a new "authority structure". Heaven forbid she exist as a seperate person with autonomy. I hope that Grace is genuinely happy but it's really going from one cage to another.

Clearly Jill has taken lessons about caring for your kids from the MOTY. Accidents happen but it's the "... falling or something 🤷🏻♀️" bit that really gets to me. You are a stay at home mum with two kids and no obligations (study, volunteering etc) and you don't know when your kid fell on his face hard enough to do that damage? She's literally shrugging about her kid smashing his face and causing injury to himself. I'm not even going to start on the grammar. Heaven help those two boys with Jill as their teacher. And for all you waiting with baited breath to know where the ugly ass bow came from, your question has been answered! This overpriced bit of ribbon comes from none other than Chicken and Poultry.

When Leah looks like the sensible one on the family, you've got problems. Victoria showing all her class by getting knocked up to the white water rafting instructor in Costa Rica before she was legally seperated. And hid it so that it wouldn't impacted her custody battle with her second baby daddy/husband 🙄🙄🙄 https://www.theashleysrealityroundup.com/2019/09/05/leah-messers-sister-victoria-pregnant-by-man-she-cheated-on-hubby-with-during-costa-rica-trip-drama-to-be-featured-on-teen-mom-2-exclusive-details/

Jenelle: Birther Of 3, Mother To None
ChocolateAddict replied to DangerousMinds's topic in Teen Mom 2
Sorry I should have made it clearer, I don't think anyone here is responsible! I'm just talking about in the context of Jenelle's GoFundMe. I guess I'm just trying to say that I'm uncomfortable with how far people are willing to take this. And while there have been comments that if you put your life on social media, this comes with the territory, I think that people (not necessarily us!) are crossing the line. Contacting Kaiser's sports team, posting Jenelle's nudes, it's really escalated in the last week. And again, I'm not a Jenelle defender, but I do wonder when enough will be enough for some internet people. Like I said, I don't think anyone here is doing it but it's more a general comment about how people are using GoFundMe to hit back at Jenelle and David and seem to be willing to do anything to make them angry. -

Just following on from what I said before, people are posting nude photos of Jenelle with truly awful comments on her GoFundMe. It's going too far. I wish that Jenelle and David would sink into the Swamp and never be seen again. They are foul examples of humans who shouldn't have custody of a pot plant. That said, what is happening now is real close to revenge porn and IMO crosses the line. If people want to get involved, just donate to Olivia's GoFundMe. Just let the cash difference between the two do the talking. How does it help anyone to make vile comments about Jenelle's genitals that she will see? I guarantee you the kids will be suffering for this because that's who it will be taken out on. Just donate to Olivia and leave it there. -

ChocolateAddict replied to DangerousMinds's topic in Teen Mom 2
Potentially an unpopular opinion but I think that people on the internet are going too far and intruding in the lives of the kids. Don't get me wrong, David shouldn't be coaching any sport let alone with children. But that is an issue that should be have been raised by the other parents and it would have been flagged in his background checks. It didn't require Karen in Texas to call or email the local club. Stuff like this just feeds into their victim complex and ultimately harms the kids. Jenelle and David should get this stuff off the internet but it isn't the role of strangers to contact Kaiser's team. I feel like it sets a precedent, are they going to contact the daycare or school and tell them to ban David from the premises? This is also the reason why CPS and Animal Services aren't taking complaints about the Dumb Fucks seriously. They've had to go out 20-30 times because complete strangers are making complaints and they have to follow up. It's like the boy who cried wolf, when someone actually involved in their lives (Nathan's mum, the daycare workers) calls up it will start to look litigious because they'll look at the file and see so many call outs where nothing was found. Contact Flat Tummy Tea or companies who are giving Jenelle Instagram gigs, sure. They don't know her, she's never met them. But to contact Kaiser's football team is a whole different level. And now I feel like I need to scrub myself with bleach. -
I just find it such an odd present. Like, the original scrapbook was about C&T growing up, their families and pregnancy. It was meant to provide Carly with info about her bio parents and why they chose adoption. Since she wouldn't have those pictures otherwise, it makes sense and helps to explain her story. This one is just odd cause it's basically 'our lives without you' with pictures of NotCarly 1 and 2. Letters I understand because Carly can have stories from them in their own words but pictures of her biological parents and siblings living without her? Just feels like they couldn't come up with any new ideas so they recycled their original present. Only without any real effort or thought or time management.

The Hulk is at it again. She took Isaac on that Hawaii trip without Jo's permission and during his time. She's an absolute cow to put Isaac in the middle of this when she wanted to play happy families with Chris overseas at the expense of his wellbeing. Instead she is now possibly in contempt of court, not speaking to one of her exes and doesn't have a storyline (which is probably the bit that kills her the most). https://www.theashleysrealityroundup.com/2019/07/30/exclusive-kail-lowry-mtv-refuses-to-film-during-kails-hawaiian-vacation-due-to-legal-issues/

I think the challenges have also got repetitive and boring. There used to be some really creative and interesting challenges but now it is just contestants making different varieties of frozen/creamy desserts or hunks of meat with puree. And unfortunately the judges don't seem to ever call the contestants out on putting up the same stuff all the time. Some of my favourite challenges in the past were: - Making a dish based on Matt's review - Getting an awful dish and having to improve it. In particular when they got 2L of flavourless bolognaise and had to make it better - Reinventing a dish and not just disassembling it and presenting it with lots of empty space - Having a time and money limit and having to make enough food for X people even if it was an ad for Coles My absolute favourite challenge was one of the earlier seasons and the contestants had to write out a recipe, make it and then professionally style it for photography. And then they had some regular mums come in and make it exactly according to instructions to see how well they could translate their own cooking onto the page for others to follow. Since so many of them want to get a column or write a book, it seems like a really obvious challenge to bring back. Plus it involved a different type of thinking, you wouldn't include a smoking machine or George's bloody tweezers because most people don't use those at home. This season was a bit of a flop for me, the people who took a chance and tried to be interesting got knocked out and we got left with a bunch of uninspiring cooks. I'd also like to see the judges shaken up a bit, let's get some new people with different experience and taste in.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
ChocolateAddict replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I just wanted to comment on why Joy and Austin would share such personal pictures with hundreds of thousands of people. I have not lost a baby but I have friends who have and shared similar photos on social media. For them, posting these pictures on Facebook/Instagram was a way of saying my baby was loved, my baby was real and I will not be ashamed of speaking about my child. It was about publically recognising that their baby will forever be part of their family and sharing their love. It was a way of saying to other people that they would not hide or be ashamed of what happened to their child. Joy and Austin may be finding comfort in sharing Annabell Elise with the world. It could be that they feel that her life is validated because they are speaking about her publically and recognising her short existence. By having her on their Instagram feed it says that they are proud of her and want her to be recognised as their child. This is also an expression of their faith. For a young Christian couple used to sharing their lives publically, this is an expression of how their faith and hope in God is helping through a painful, traumatic time. I think it's heartless to suggest that they are simply doing this for clicks and views. Joy and Austin are two young people who have experienced heartbreaking loss and come from a culture where this sort of grief is often unaddressed. In that context, speaking about it on social media could well be cathartic and it could provide some measure of comfort to hear to know that others are praying from them and Annabell Elise. When you don't get that sort of support from your own family, it's human to seek it elsewhere. For Joy in particular, support and love from strangers may be a comfort for her. This is all to say that I see these posts as being a way for Joy and Austin to share both their love for Annabell Elise and their grief at having lost her. And I'm not going to critique how a grieving couple wants to share the story of their loss. -
Jenelle: Birther Of 3, Mother To None
ChocolateAddict replied to DangerousMinds's topic in Teen Mom 2
In hindsight, the unsupervised birthday party was a bad idea. On one hand Nathan was telling the court that Jenelle and David were so dangerous and neglectful that they should only see their kids under professional supervision but then had them around the same kids, unsupervised and everyone apparently had a blast? Even if the Dumb Fucks weren't alone with the kids, it wouldn't take a great lawyer to point out that you can't argue that David and Jenelle are monsters (which they are) but also take the initiative to invite them over for cake and to see the kids outside of court. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I can't help but think that the party played right into the Swamp Monster's hands. It also scares me that this is going to feel UBT's persecution complex and cause them to become even more isolated. In his mind, the government came and took his kids once and it's not going to happen again! I'll bet money that they'll be even more obsessed with both keeping the kids away from mandatory reporters and keeping them terrified so that they wouldn't tell even if they could. Marissa in particular is going to be kept on the land and in line, the only time she will be allowed off is for court ordered visits with her grandma and even then they will make every effort to stop/thwart her going. Jenelle and David are going to make sure that none of the kids get a second chance at freedom. With dwindling funds, more paranoia and an arsenal of weapons, I can't see this ending well. -
I needed to kill time in an airport queue so I took one for the team and watched the video. First up, clearly Kail doesn't care that she looks unprofessional and sloppy. Her hair is greasy and dirty and she's filming it on a random bed with a blanket. For someone who did media, she clearly didn't learn that your public image should involve looking like you had a shower that morning. Next, her friend Lisa has to be one of the most desperate she's had. This 'new friend' pops up and talks endlessly about how she'd seen Kail on TM2 but she's totally nice and not the bitch that we see each week. Girl is clearly hanging out for one of those free holidays and it shows. Not to mention the hideous peach claws that she's got on her fingers. Next, she says that she's been on even more vacations with Leah that we haven't seen. I think she means that we haven't seen them on TM2 but it's just a little reminder that she spends more time on holidays for her own self than holidays with her kids. And she had absolutely zero shame about it. Then, she just choses to not answer a question about her relationship with Dom and in the classic TM2 way, just says that she doesn't want to talk about it. Well clearly you did because otherwise you would have cut that out of the video which has clearly been (badly) edited. She's just dragging it back to get the clicks and the comments and drama back since she's got nothing else going on at the moment. Can't have Jenelle getting all the headlines! Then she says that she does want a girl although she's totally happy with her boys. Considering 2/3 of her baby daddies are taken and the last one only comes around during summer for the free pool, not sure how that's going to work out for her. Maybe she can trade Chris a car for another baby. The final part that I saw was Kail earnestly telling us that she is 'definitely self aware' which has to be only funny joke she made the whole time. It's hilarious that she thinks that recalling her bitchy, awful behaviour for her try hard fake friends is self awareness. Tldr: Kail put no effort into this besides looking at Insta and still has no ability to see her own faults as per usual.

Jenelle: Birther Of 3, Mother To None
ChocolateAddict replied to DangerousMinds's topic in Teen Mom 2
IIRC, he did for a very very short period of time. The Kaden situation was particularly awful in my mind. Because the Swamp Monster pushed Olivia out of a moving car while pregnant, she had a restraining order for both herself and Kaden. There was an ugly scene when Kaden was in the same supermarket as David who went up and grabbed him, giving him a 'hug'. Bearing in mind, this is a kid who had never met David and whose mother was abused to the point that she went into early labour. David was arrested for violating the order and got 60 days in jail which I think he appealed. Jenelle and David bitched about how he was just trying to give Kaden a hug (and probably put the kid in therapy because of it) and how unfair the whole thing was (well maybe don't be a freaking psychopath with anger issues and you could see your kid). After that, Jenelle opened her wallet so. David could persue custody in court. Since she had a six figure salary, she financed a lawyer and basically kept throwing money until Olivia couldn't keep up. He got supervised visitation and then overnight every other weekend. Originally, they weren't supposed to publish photos of Kaden on social media. But naturally, their narcissistic need to show their 'happy family' meant that they broke that rule pretty quick. Olivia didn't have the funds to go back to court so they basically got away with it. Both of them were boasting on social media about David's special relationship with his firstborn son which made people (me included) concerned that Kaiser was going to be even more neglected. After the 911 call where Jenelle said that David pushed her over and might have broken her arm/shoulder plus the gun situation, Olivia had enough evidence to go back to court and successfully ended the visits to The Land. Right after he murdered Nugget he was in court because he hadn't paid $5k in child support. Jenelle put up the money yet again and he got away with it. Hopefully Kaden wasn't too scarred by the whole experience with a father he hadn't known and a stepmother who cared more about the photos than the welfare of her children. As I understand, David hasn't seen Kaden since the visits were stopped which must be a huge relief for his family.
