BB Anticipation: New Season, New Houseguests
CrazyDog replied to peachmangosteen's topic in Big Brother
It's so good to read how many of them will go with the house vote, lol. Never change, BB. Indy is already annoying. Daniel the "insanely loud" projecting Vegas Performer is going to blow out all our eardrums in the Diary Room talking heads. The lawyer guy who plans to eat all the food, and not sleep, is really going to win over the other HGs. I do like that many of them are older. -
I had no idea this was getting a reboot. I'll probably check it out, but the original had such a wonderful amount of charm that it will be tough to match. Unless they plan to also go back and finally bring Sam home, which would give me a great amount of closure, lol. I'm still not over the original series finale.

I finally got around to watching the last 3 episodes. All in all, fairly tame for Big Sky, lol. Only this show could make me vaguely root for the sociopathic children of a cartel leader, and be so happy for the cartel leader to finally bite it. Ren is highly entertaining to watch, and so is Donno. Tonya is a total surprise, seeing her turn into a cold-blooded killer. Now that Veer is gone, they can all go down, but they are great villains to watch in the meantime. I love Cassie, but Jenny is bordering on caricature at this point. I want to root for her being a bad ass, but man, dial the attitude back a bit. She's been back with the cops for like 2 weeks, is getting her boss to falsify evidence for search warrants, and is pissed that someone else is in charge? She's lucky Tubbs hasn't kicked her out. I did lol at the idea that Travis could just go wandering off with no repercussions. I'm guessing the feds might have a few questions. Cassie and Lindor are a great couple. He's endearingly awkward, though he had great chemistry with Jerrie as well. Beau is a great addition, and I'm glad they aren't going the obvious route of having him clash with Jenny and the other cops, at least not yet.

Agree with all of this. I adore the brothers, and I love that Marty found his happy ending. And Malcolm getting his dream job was so awesome. The brothers have one of the best dynamics on the show, so I don't look forward to splitting them up, but there's potential if the show draws out the engagement.

I forget sometimes that the show is already in it's 4th season. Maybe it's the shorter seasons, but it just seems like EZ went from 0 to 60 super fast. Agreed, I shouldn't compare it to SOA, but it's hard not to at times. All those characters did horrible things throughout the show, but it just seems like Mayans is hitting that extreme a bit earlier, and leaving no one to root for. I think SOA did a better job of showing a balance with other relationships outside of the club and some of the good that was around, even though it got super dark at the end too. IMO, shows as dark and bleak as this still need some sort of humor or sympathetic character to keep it watchable. And the humor and heart is totally missing from this season, maybe with Hope, Nails, Letty. Hank and Felipe as the exceptions. I can't root for EZ, Angel is just a trainwreck, I don't care about Adelita, or Emily, or Galindo, and I can't even remember how Bishop was ever a leader. I do find Manny kind of interesting and suspicious, but boy, the rest is hard to watch.

A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here

Those sorts of workshops are just so awkward. Sorry you had to attend it! Who wants to discuss those sorts of things in an open forum? So much this. Same irritation with my place. They are spending like crazy, but the one raise I've had in several years was almost an insult. You want to reward and thank your employees? Provide for them. Loyalty is a two way street. I had a conversation with someone at my company about my role, and I received some reassurance, but I am still looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, I've realized I'm definitely dealing with some burnout, and that's tough. I had to acknowledge to myself that it can color my view of things, and make me feel really cynical, and that's not a fun mental place to be. I remember my introverted Dad saying years ago that he just wanted to open a little bookstore when he retired where he could just read all day. Sounds like a dream, ha. -
Are you going to get sucked in with the rest of us, peach? I need this summer distraction, even though it raises my BP constantly, lol.

He still follows (FWIW) some of the actors on Instagram, like Emilio Rivera, but it does seem like he's not connected to Cardenas or JD Pardo, or the show itself. I really enjoy the artwork done by Clayton Cardenas, so it's been really disappointing to read that he may be kind of a douche. But who knows where some of those reports are coming from. I'll still enjoy what is an immensely talented cast, and I'll be watching to see what Richard Cabral does in the future.
-
The rumor mill seems to say that there was some issue between Richard Cabral and Clayton Cardenas, which was disappointing to read, but it could all just be gossip though, and I saw nothing that really backed up those comments. I love Cabral on social media, and frankly, I'm tempted to try the coffee from his new company, lol. His passion for what he does really comes through. Coco (and Hank) kind of remind me a bit of from The Shield. The characters with heart, and Coco's presence will be missed.

Probably about time to end, given how over the show most of the actors seem to be. I am curious to see how balls to the wall crazy the last season will be though.

A nice review of the upcoming season - some spoilers on the some of the sketches that will appear. I am SO excited to see them again. https://consequence.net/2022/05/kids-in-the-hall-amazon-review/

Am I wrong, or is there some serious Uncanny Valley happening? The dog is adorable though.

A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here
CrazyDog replied to potatoradio's topic in Everything Else
Thanks all, I agree with all of that - I would never have the guts to quit without another job lined up (as much as I enjoy fantasizing about it, lol). At worst, I can collect unemployment for awhile if it comes to that. I had my very outdated resume professional redone, so that makes me feel a bit better. I'll either find something else, or make them let me go. I'm still waffling on the conversation. I have to go in tomorrow, so I might just see what the vibe is like. -
Well. That was a downer of an episode, even by SOA and Mayans standards. Both shows do better when there is humor interspersed among the bleakness. They would not euthanize a dog live for a TV show. It was still sad enough, that I was glad I read a recap before watching the episode so I could fast forward through that section. As one who has volunteered in (less depressing, thankfully) shelters and worked at a vet's office, that still hit too hard. I don't care about EZ's love life. And I had to look up Marlon too - EZ killed him, I think? By accident? I feel bad for Adelita's baby. That whole storyline was just a mess. And sure Adelita, sit on the side of the road covered in the blood of your victims. That won't attract attention. Poor Nails. Maybe she can take the baby that Angel doesn't give a hoot about, and go off to a better life with Gabby or something. Take Hope too, and get away from SP. Poor Coco. Richard Cabral is such a great actor, but it seems like he has a new coffee business going, and hasn't posted about the show in a long time. The back and forth with the club (kind of) trying to unite, followed by fights and grudges, followed by Alvarez telling them all to knock it off, is getting a little repetitive. But sounds like the tide might be turning against the charter. ETA, Cheri Oteri? So random, lol.

A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here

Thank you, I'm kind of leaning that way. Maybe I'll approach it with them anyway, I don't know. Or just enjoy less work for the same salary for now, while I try to get more skills and look around. I just hate looking for a new job when my work self-esteem is super low. And trying to protect my bad lungs from COVID if I have to be back in an office. Ugh. Thanks for letting me vent here :) -

Sorry to double post, but I sympathize. I live in an area that's been pretty pro mask and vaccine, but I'm literally the only person still masking in the office. I definitely feel awkward at this point, and try to WFH as much as possible. -
A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here

I haven't posted in this thread before, but I am looking for some opinions. I've worked at a small company for 5 years, and have always been valued and have legacy knowledge. Recently the company started hiring big time. A new high up manager was hired, who has brought in literally 5 people in two months, including two they have worked with before. Our team used to be 3-4 people, now it's like 12 people, including a couple who joined from other teams. The new manager has taken everything back to basics. Much of what I've done in the last 5 years has been scrapped. Other work is on hold. And one of the new people they brought on has taken on some of what I do. But not all, and I feel like more may come down in the next few months. Maybe. But it's so annoying getting "allowed" to do some of what I've done for 5 years, while she does some of it now too. I've reminded her that I'm always ready to jump in. But it is depressing not having much ownership anymore. Is it wrong to approach the new bigwig and in a nice way of course, ask if there is still a role for me? What is my job now? Is that forcing their hand? "Well, we were going to lay you off, but not yet. But since you asked, see ya..." lol. I feel like it's not a given that my job is going away, but I certainly don't feel secure, and it's incredibly stressful. I am looking around, but that's a whole ball of stress too. Ugh. -
I feel like I was missing things this episode, ha. What was the cake for? It did look delicious though. I did laugh at Nails just leaving them to their awkward silence / bonding. Is Angel on good terms with Pops (all in all?) Who was Tomas? Is there another guy hiding around the convent with Miguel? Were they referring to Miguel? I was totally lost at that whole bit, but I did enjoy the nun getting the guy to leave. Don't mess with nuns, man. Bishop is hard to watch. He's just spiraling down, and losing respect along the way. "What's a VCR?" lol. I do enjoy the moments of Alvarez the family man. I really enjoyed more scenes with Gilly and Creeper. The clubhouse can feel kind of claustrophobic, so I really love seeing their lives outside of the Mayans. Sympathy for Hope was not on my radar for this season, but I did feel bad for her. She's working, trying to stay clean, with a partner whose life is really elsewhere, and basically a sister-in-law who hates her. Not without reason.

Same here, seems to be fixed now. Thanks!

I'm seeing the same thing, on a Samsung using Chrome. When I had new notifications, they showed up as above with the number in the red circle. Once I've clicked into the notifications, I don't see the bell anymore. But if I click into where I know the bell should be, the notifications come up again. So the link still seems in place.

Finally watched episode 2...why did they have to introduce the adorable Sally? I'll be more stressed about her fate than any other character, lol. Either she'll save EZ in some dramatic fashion, or losing her will push EZ farther, John Wick-style. I'll root for her to get a happy ending somewhere though.

I have learned so much about produce-related social behaviors in this thread, lol. I really loved this episode. It actually hurt (I know it wasn't going to happen, but still!) to think about Sam losing the ability to communicate with the ghosts. They're all a family now. And I have to chime in that I really want Jay to be able to see the ghosts as well - as the show starts getting busier, with (hopefully) B&B guests arriving (once the floor is fixed, at least) I think the flow may work better for Jay to be able to communicate with them too. It would be a lot for Sam to have to interact with the ghosts, and the guests, and also be having to keep Jay in the loop as to what's going on. And maybe I just want Pete and Jay to officially meet, ha. Isaac and Nigel are so sweet. I'm going to enjoy rewatching S1.

I think Miguel was last seen leaving on the helicopter (alone? with Nestor?), after Emily realized what he had done to her, and she took off? I honestly don't remember if we saw him after that. I can't say I missed them. I've only seen the first episode of the new season, and it was pretty intense. Where were the guns and ammo that were stored in the clubhouse? I wasn't impressed with Bishop. They were in an pretty unwinnable situation, but he seemed to just shut down. Hank was heartbreaking, trying to care for his sweet mom. Angel and Nails will not have a happy ending, but they were fairly sweet in this episode. And the one helpful bartender was pretty badass. Alvarez showing up like a boss. ETA: reading comments elsewhere, sounds like the guns were in the van to rescue Coco, but that seemed like a lot for one rescue mission. Seems like they should have had another gun stash somewhere.

I hate that this wasn't my favorite episode. It's mainly because I really dislike the mean girl actress. I saw her in Fam as well, and it didn't help. Something about Sam or Rose McIver just seemed off too, and not just because of her sad prom storyline. The ghosts kind of calling her pushy was a little harsh, after all she does for them. I still absolutely adore the show, this just won't be an episode I rewatch. Season finale already? :(

I can't wait! Will there be salty ham?
