  1. I don't think the too old issue will come up in the general if it's Biden/Trump because they're both old. Pulling them down strictly on that issue alone now isn't helping. As Bill brought up, and the woman was saying, this time around the candidates are showing some self-awareness that tearing into one another isn't the best strategy.
  2. I can't imagine how she could overturn it though because it was a court ruling. I don't know that I'd lay Selina's failures totally on the staff. Kent crunches numbers and Ben has a huge network. She did get all the way to the presidency the first time with Amy. Ben was the one who told her to go scorched earth in the hospital. I guess we're to assume she beat Montez because of the Chinese.
  3. Yeah I don't get why Bill called her 'wise'. She didn't really bring any special insight into these issues, and she's kind of insufferable. She said Trump should be dragged over to Saudi Arabia and get the same treatment as the journalist. Bill was a little disingenuous because Warren actually said the stuff about hate for profit and ended with something like, 'Fox News journalists are at all my press conferences/appearances. I invite them to be there, and I will take all their questions.' Debates as a whole are patently ridiculous because whatever network hosts them uses them for a ratings grab and the questions are typically one note and dumb. Having the debate on Fox News isn't the best idea because they'll be ridiculed incessantly afterwards. Whenever Bill brings up people who watch Fox News, I wish someone would say, "well, those people should watch PBS News instead." The guy who thought the Iran deal was bad is out of his damn mind. I'm not an Iran supporter but the failure these people have who are against the deal to grasp the larger context of the issues surrounding Iran is shortsighted at best and patently ignorant at worst. The safeguards community hailed the deal as a new standard for the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. But, ok, you don't like it because they do bad things. Guess what? This was one less bad thing they were doing. They made a deal for the scotus seat and then got one bonus. Ralph Reed flatly stated it on the show.
  4. At the start of OT though it seemed like it wasn't her choice and that the EP told her to walk back from it. Obviously any one watching the interview could plainly see she wasn't serious. Though she isn't nearly as funny as she thinks she is. Those are all legit reasons. All she said was he's too old and I think that was short sighted because she already poisoning the well of one of them gets nominated because then people won't vote because "they're both too old" or some bullshit. Her reason for not liking Biden is perfectly valid and she should have left it at that or she should have emphasized even more how whomever is the nominee is getting her vote.

I wouldn't know who Steph Curry's wife is if she came into my office and kicked me in the ass.
  6. And the AL governor is a woman and signed the bill! Appalling. You know what I'd like from at least one of the fifty bazillion candidates instead of a cutesy slogan? "Why should you vote for me? Because I'm a fucking adult."

He made some really poor shot selections in the 4th. He wasn't the only one though. They slipped on several offensive rebounds too. I'm a casual fan at best, but it seemed to me in this game that GS *didn't* give up easy 2s to kick it out back for 3. There were like three alleys in the 4th, and several backdoor cuts to easy layups. As much as they're known for offense, the game ended on a slick, clean steal. Really exciting game. I'm basically over showing the Curry parents. Let's be more judicious in the panning to them. Though they seem like good sports, and it's not their fault.
  8. I've only seen a few episodes of the show, but I think any show that can go over 200 episodes does deserve some kudos.
  9. I certainly like Harris a lot, but come on, "I eat no for breakfast"? That's where you get the 'both sides are just as bad' (which is not true), people who don't vote. I didn't like this episode. This is a different election in 2020, and I'm worried that whomever the nominee is going to be shredded for the general.
  10. Given that they ended the show with Richard as president, and were trying to land on a hopeful note, and Amy's prior monologue, it's reasonable that if Selina even had a tepid presidency, she didn't screw it up so bad that another woman was able to be a two term president.

I have zero issues with any of the superstars in any sport. I'm talking about when it comes to practice, drive, motivation for winning games, when you talk about any of them in any sport, yeah, they probably yelled at teammates in practice, maybe took a swing at a teammate, threw a ball at someone, hit a hard foul. That type of stuff. Being nice doesn't win championships. Winning does.
  12. Sam is quite correct in saying that the people writing these laws don't know anything about women's bodies. Aside - This continually amazes me. Maybe because my mother was a nurse and I had to learn all about periods when I was 10, but still, these men are married to actual women, so how do you not know any of this? But she only mentioned at the end that the laws were passed specifically to challenge Roe kind of as an aside, and I think that carries some importance too. The guy that wrote the law literally said he wrote it to challenge Roe.

I can't imagine that people at elite levels of the professions aren't somewhat assholeish though.
  14. I actually think the show was better when they got past the books. In the beginning, it was really really slow because they were taking so much time to go over so many details. There had to have been a more optimal approach. Asking any actor to be part of a show for a decade+ is difficult at best, and this seemed like a demanding show to make.
  15. Oh, I think TWD is much worse because the showrunners cannot shut up. They set themselves up to fail.
  16. I liked the article, but I got the impression the showrunner was trying to out think himself. Just because Selina ended up again as VP is predictable doesn't mean it's not a satisfying ending. I don't know if it works that Richard would be the one to have asked her though. I mean, I do like how the show ended up, but if she ended up VP that would have been fine with me too. The thing about her ending up president is we missed the entire election, and you're asking the audience to buy that she won with no Ben, Kent, or Amy.

I don't really have a problem with dynasties. I rooted against Boston in the 80s, but I root for GS now. The NBA has always thrived on them. And for some odd reason the Knicks who never really have done much. Here's the thing about dynasties though - beat them and they won't be anymore. The Pistons eventually caught the Celtics. The Bulls caught the Pistons. (Then it was all a mess in the late 90s because no one could shoot). Anyway though.
  18. I didn't think it was that bad last year but it was rushed. For one, they all just wanted to end the show, so they smashed everything together, and the narrative suffered as a result. Two - 90 minute episodes were just a poor decision. It's just a chore to watch. 55 days of shooting a tv show at night is just ridiculous. I don't doubt it's a lot of work. Perhaps the showrunners should have handed it off for S6 and S7 to a new team to end it. I don't necessarily fault the show for the hype though. They're all obviously excited to be part of what was something unprecedented at the time.

Toronto really let that get away. Hey, you don't have to jack up a long 3 only down 4. A quick 2 works.
  20. I'll give GOT credit in for the most part, if you were stupid, naive, or arrogant, you got got. I can live with that because you were able to watch it unfold. Once they decided to end the show in two seasons it was clear no one wanted to be there anymore so it's a mess.
  21. I know of the Brazilian president, but he says things out of Jonah Ryan on twitter. I think Hasan was a little disingenuous at the start of the interview. There are a lot of protected land/national parks in the United States. The administration is trying to hack away at that and I hope they don't, but it's not accurate to say we've exploited all our lands.
  22. But is it 'gritty' too? Because you really need that.
  23. TBH with the 'binge style' of watching nowadays I would think most viewers would prefer a self contained story season to season than cliffhangers now.
  24. I would think Selina would take credit for that. Amy's famous monologue said that she was such a bad president (the first time) that another woman wouldn't be elected president for another 100 years, so maybe Selina did something in her last term.
  25. They still have to rent a car and drive from the airport to the destination anyway, so tack on that time too, whereas I drive right there and can bring pets. I don't know if pets were allowed on shinkansen, but I did it anyway. The Japanese aren't going to call out a foreigner.
