  1. @Bossa Nova, are you saying Trump's in his 60's? He isn't. He turned 70 this year. But, he was in his 60's when he Tweeted about Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson's then-relationship.
  2. Trump's WH Communications Director-Designate, Jason Miller, declines the position, apparently for family reasons; Press Secretary-Designate Sean Spicer will now handle those duties (but it's not clear if he will be both Communications Director *&* Press Secretary, or just Communications Director with someone else taking over as Press Secretary). See towards the bottom of the linked article for this information. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/trump-dissolve-donald-j-trump-foundation-959191
  3. President Obama's final Christmas address, with assistance from Mrs. Obama. Worth watching. I cannot imagine what we'll get from Trump in the coming year(s)--assuming he doesn't get us all nuked by this time next year. But I'm pretty sure Melania won't be participating in it, like Mrs. O's in this 1. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PtKBjuQblqI
  4. Celine Dion was reportedly asked (& virtually guaranteed, by Las Vegas casino-resort mogul Steve Wynn... Who does not own the Las Vegas casino-resort at which she's the resident entertainment headliner) to perform at the inauguration. She declined. (Whew... I'd have hated to have to give up listening to her music). Her declining probably has to do, besides with having good taste, with the facts that she's Canadian (although her 3 sons are American by birth) & her frequent musical collaborator & fellow Canadian, David Foster, also was asked & declined. http://www.naughtygossip.com/boom/celine-dion-turns-down-performing-at-donald-trumps-inauguration
  5. More than rumored: Trump names Kellyanne Conway Counselor to the President, Sean Spicer Press Secretary, Jason Miller Communications Director; fills out the rest of his communications team. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2016/12/22/donald-trump-kellyanne-conway-white-house-counselor/95740804/
  6. Gay (male) couple removed from JetBlue flight to Florida after expressing displeasure that Ivanka Trump & her husband, Jared Kushner, were aboard the same flight. http://wane.com/2016/12/22/men-removed-from-jetblue-flight-with-ivanka-trump-aboard/
  7. The Beach Boys are saying they've been asked to perform at the inauguration festivities. They've also said they have not made a decision on accepting/declining yet. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/beach-boys-considering-invitation-perform-at-trump-inauguration-958829
  8. Here's the music lineup for (1 of) Trump's inaugural ball(s). http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/12/holy-shit-the-music-lineup-for-donald-trumps-inauguration-ball-is-hot-garbage/
  9. It happens when posters embed Twitter Tweets they wanna comment on, instead of linking to them. Sometimes it happens when other sources are embedded, but it's mostly Twitter. And it's really annoying--I'm having trouble writing this because of it.
  10. Max did light a menorah candle, & say a prayer during it, at a group/ʻohana thing at Steve's in 1 episode. He also explained, I think to either Kamekona or Cousin Flippa, that even though he's of Japanese heritage he's Jewish because he was adopted by the Bergman family & they were Jewish. I think it was last season, because I remember Abby being there. I know it's not much, but they did recognize Max's Jewish heritage at least once. And now it's probably a moot point--that Max is Jewish--since the character's being written out, for now, & Masi Oka's leaving the show as of the second new ep after the current holiday break (the next new ep is 712, airing January 6th; Masi's & Max's last episode is 713).
  11. Positive it's not a Bojangles commercial. We don't have them locally/in the immediate area, & they're not even something we see "national" commercials for. We get a lot of national commercials for Sonic, which has come & gone from the area twice already, but I've never seen a Bojangles commercial here (among other companies/products). Plus, the commercials (there are multiple versions) have actor Ving Rhames' fairly recognizable voice (he sounds sort of like James Earl Jones) on them--he's their current commercial spokesperson--& he says their current slogan, "Arby's... We have the meats." at the end of them. I even tried seeing if any of them were posted to YouTube &, so far, they haven't been. I've heard the commercials so often in the last few weeks, I know I can't be dreaming it. Even though we do have deer hunting here (I'm pretty sure), we never got the venison sandwiches. I think those were only tested in at least parts of Tennessee, & maybe Texas.
  12. Eichenwald's going after the idiot who Tweeted the strobe light to him. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/newsweek-writer-goes-twitter-user-allegedly-causing-seizure-957631
  13. Gordie Tapp, Hee Haw's "Cousin Clem", dead at age 94 after a long illness. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/gordie-tapp-dead-cousin-clem-hee-haw-was-94-957705?utm_source=twitter
  14. It's whomever Pence would nominate. The line of succession doesn't come into play here. As someone else said, in either this thread or another, when Spiro Agnew (Nixon's original VP) resigned, Carl Albert (then the Speaker of the House) did not automatically become VP. Nixon chose Gerald Ford, then the Republican Congressman representing the part of Michigan including Grand Rapids. Ford was confirmed, took office, & then ascended to the presidency when Nixon resigned due to Watergate. And then Ford selected Nelson Rockefeller, a Republican politician from New York (as I remember) to be his VP, which was confirmed. The Speaker of the House only becomes VP if selected by the President, should the VP resign or die in office, & (s)he only becomes President if both the President & VP are unable to fulfill the duties of the office of the President.
  15. Well, Caroline's still a bit busy with her duties as the (outgoing) US Ambassador to Japan. I don't believe she's participated in any of the Kennedy Center Honors specials since she's had that post.
  16. When we initially met Sara (no H at the end of her name), she was also kidnapped by somebody in Hawaii (it might've been Yakuza boss Michelle Shioma's henchmen, but I can't remember right now). When that happened, the team was able to find her quickly because she was wearing either a bracelet or necklace which had a GPS, or another kind of tracker, built into it. I'm surprised her adoptive aunt & uncle didn't continue having her wear it (especially since I think they're related to Sara's mom, & Sara's mom was, as I remember, said to be the person who gave it to her & insisted she never take it off). But if Sara had the tracking jewelry on, we wouldn't have had this story. Which I liked, even with the implausibilities.
  17. I had to laugh (& I'm surprised nobody else caught it before me, though I just caught it today in the repeat) when Cheryl (Sheryl?) said, regarding her Croquembouche, "My balls won't drop like Bobby's did." It was at some point after Jason described the filling in his, but before Bobby gave him the tempered chocolate for his topper.
  18. Actress/TV personality Zsa Zsa Gabor dead at age 99 due to a heart attack. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/zsa-zsa-gabor-dead-dies-1201945003/
  19. Music producer David Foster (he's also the recording artist behind the Love Theme From St. Elmo's Fire & did the popular duet The Best of Me with Olivia Newton-John, from his self-titled album, not 1 of hers) was supposedly invited to produce, &/or perhaps otherwise participate in, the inauguration. He politely declined (he's also Canadian, at least by birth, which might've been a factor in his declining the offer). http://www.ew.com/article/2016/12/17/david-foster-politely-declined-invite-role-donald-trump-inauguration?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter
  20. I haven't tried it... Yet. And it might not be as new as I think it is, but recently I've been seeing ads for Cashew Roca--apparently the same thing as Almond Roca, but made with cashews. It comes--at least in the tins--in blue & gold packaging. Question: Has anybody else been seeing commercials for an Arby's deep fried turkey sandwich? I'm positive that's the product. The ads have been all over at least my local stations lately & they're driving me nuts, for 3 reasons: 1. I never actually see the commercials, only hear them. 2. I can't find a damn thing about the sandwich on the Arby's website or by Googling it. 3. I'd really like to try that sandwich--never had deep fried turkey before, but would love to try it--but I'm a picky eater & need to know if the sandwich is plain or if it has sauces &/or other condiments on it I might not like before somebody buys me 1 (I can't get out very well on my own; especially now we have snow on the ground where I live).
  21. I read earlier today they're thinking about rebooting All in the Family & The Jeffersons. I'll have to find & add the link later. Here's the link to the article about possibly rebooting the above shows (& some other old Norman Lear shows). http://www.tvguide.com/news/all-in-the-family-jeffersons-maude-good-times-reboot-norman-lear-sony/?ftag=TVG_Twitter
  22. Chin (as I remember) told Steve he was dead--he died in surgery or in the ER, or was DOA at the hospital; I forget which. But we never saw his dead body onscreen after that point.
  23. Dr. Henry Heimlich, inventor of the Heimlich Maneuver which saves people from choking, died due to complications from a massive heart attack suffered on Monday. He was 96. He & actor/director Anson Williams (best known as Richie's friend Warren "Potsie" Weber on Happy Days) were also first cousins once removed (Anson's birth name was Anson William Heimlich). http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/dr-henry-heimlich-inventor-of-famed-anti-choking-heimlich-maneuver-dies
