  1. Warren Frost, character actor best known for roles in Seinfeld & Twin Peaks, dies at 91 after a long illness. http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/warren-frost-character-actor-known-for-‘twin-peaks’-and-‘seinfeld’-dies-at-91/ar-AAn49EV?li=BBnbfcL Richard Schickel, veteran Time magazine film critic, dead at age 84. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/richard-schickel-time-magazine-film-critic-dies-at-84-977654?utm_source=twitter&utm_source=Direct

  3. You've got me on the first paragraph; especially since it's at least the second time someone has used "death by ballpoint pen" on the show (as I'm pretty sure was said upthread, Gabriel Waincroft--Chin's criminal brother-in-law & his niece Sara's father--did the same thing to HPD Internal Affairs investigator Coughlin [who was out to get Chin, for a number of years, for allegedly being a corrupt cop] a season or two ago). They also used this method on an episode of Law & Order (although the person who stabbed himself--the suspect--survived) perhaps it was an homage, of sorts, to Elisabeth Röhm's having been on that show although I can't remember if she was still on the show when the pen stabbing happened. Nobody knows, yet, who shot Dr. Gray (the crazy woman), or even if someone else was shot, somehow. The actress who plays Alicia is supposed to be back in next week's episode (which was mentioned upthread), so pretty much everyone who knows that is assuming we'll find out what happened with that then.
  4. Perhaps because she was an FBI agent/profiler, in case she dies under deep cover in the line of duty. I think I read/heard once (at least) that CIA operatives have their DNA stored for the same/a similar reason.
  5. Given the context of where Dog showed up (the grand opening of Flippa's shrimp truck), the fact that his family lives in Hawaii, & the fact that it's already been quite well established that Dog & his family are friends of Five-0, I don't think it was that strange where he popped up. Now if he'd been in the Wisconsin part of the story, that would've been strange. That was Max Weinberg from the E Street Band (& Conan O'Brien's band on NBC). This time, though, he was playing himself. He's been in 2 other H50 episodes playing a character called Norm, who was a gun shop owner & gun ownership rights advocate. He was in the reboot of the Classic H5O ep Hookman, from S3 (as I remember), & Kuka ʻawale (Stakeout), from S5, as the character.
  6. Regarding the bolded: The broadcast contract was apparently up with USA Network/the NBC Comcast Universal (whatever they call themselves now) stations with the airing of last year's Westminster show. Then Fox Sports got the rights somehow--I suppose by bidding against other interested media outlets &/or simply negotiating with Westminster Kennel Club. Nat Geo Wild also aired other parts of the competition from this past week besides the main Westminster show held on Monday & Tuesday nights; so did some online-only outlet of Fox Sports.
  7. Harold Denton, Three Mile Island hero, dead at 80 due to COPD & Alzheimer's Disease. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/02/15/harold-denton-three-mile-island-hero-dies/97973676/
  8. Bruce Lansbury, TV producer & brother of actress Angela Lansbury, dead at age 87. https://www.google.com/amp/www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news/bruce-lansbury-dead-tv-producer-angela-lansburys-brother-was-87-976535
  9. The linked article is from the People magazine website. It's about the actor who played the leader of the dating seminar in last Friday's Valentine's episode & the recent premature birth, at only 26 weeks, of his daughter Holden... who was in the NICU for 117 days after birth, but who seems to be doing well now. I just thought I'd share since I recognized the actor, both by name & in the article's photos. http://people.com/babies/rob-huebel-daughter-holden-born-premature-26-weeks-nicu/
  10. What does the Yorkshire Terrier have to do to get chosen in the group round/advance to Best in Show? I miss David Frei too--so knowledgeable.
  11. A long time ago, well a couple of decades ago anyway, there was a character in General Hospital named Justus Ward. And 1 of the lead actors in Supernatural has a preschool (I think) age kid (I'm pretty sure a daughter) named Justice. I think it's the same actor whose wife had boy/girl twins the end of last year or the beginning of this year. I think it was Jared Padalecki. Responding to the bolded. Based on something similar I saw in an episode from an earlier season, which they're running concurrently with the new season, Duff & Valerie apparently aren't allowed to give the kind of help you describe; but in the example I saw, Valerie did tell the kid baker they could give each other advice on how to fix a recipe (if they knew how). Regarding the bolded, all I know is it's apparently used in Middle Eastern baking, & I'm pretty sure in perfume/cologne. I'm not sure I'd like it either; not in food anyway. After 9/11, when everybody was still super hyper attuned to weird stuff in luggage, somebody arriving at our airport had some in their luggage (I think they'd brought it to either cook/bake with or to make perfume/cologne); of course it broke & caused a hazmat incident because of the unfamiliar smell. I think the story even made the national news.
  12. OK there's only, like, 9 eps left this season between filming & airing. But we may not see Danny's girlfriend, Melissa, much for the rest of the season (not that we saw her that much anyway... I'm just saying), in case this other show starts filming before then. The actress who plays her, Lili Simmons, has been cast in a season-long arc in Showtime's Ray Donovan. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/ray-donovan-adds-trio-season-5-975719?utm_source=twitter&utm_source=Direct&utm_source=Direct
  13. Sneak peek of tonight's season 2 premiere. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2017/02/13/martha--snoop-exclusive-sneak-peek/97850762/
  14. 2 eps back-to-back, starting at 9PM Eastern on VH1. See new article link in the Media thread for more info & a short clip.
  15. The new eps are on Monday nights at 8 Eastern (I'm pretty sure; if it's not 8, it's 9). I'm pretty sure there was a new ep last week, so I know not why you missed it; I'm also pretty sure there's a new ep tonight.
  16. It was established in Lynn's first episode that she works, in some way, with "at risk" youth (there've been suggestions in a number of posts for a storyline where she works with Nahele--the troubled teen who Steve's been mentoring & kind of looking after since he stole & stripped Steve's dad's 70's vintage Mercury Marquis for the parts while Steve was training with Gracie for her President's Council on Physical Fitness award test; Steve & Gracie were running & the car passed by, so Steve told Gracie to stay put & he went after it). It's never been specified what Danny's girlfriend, Melissa, does. But she apparently works somewhere in Honolulu. Danny was able to get her boss to let her off work for another either "staycation" in Honolulu or a trip to another island, before the "staycation" in this episode, which ended up disastrously because Melissa had an abusive ex she was running from, using the name Amber Vitale, & he finally located her during the trip, he went to take her back, & he stabbed Danny, pretty seriously, for getting in the way.
  17. Former Miami Dolphins football player Quentin Moses dies in a house fire at age 33. http://people.com/sports/miami-dolphins-quentin-moses-dies-house-fire/?xid=socialflow_twitter_peoplemag
  18. Regarding the bolded: Yes, it's Kono's personal car. But, all of Five-0 uses their personal vehicles on the job. So I'm pretty sure they've all had a certain amount of modifications done to work on the streets as an unmarked police car. I don't think she'd have handcuffed the dating seminar guy to her headrest if we weren't supposed to believe it was a viable place to do that. Well, at least not unless the writers had a brain fart about how well that would work in Kono's car.
  19. Judah Friedlander is, I think, mostly a movie actor. Mekhi Phifer is known, among other things, for a multi-season role as 1 of the doctors on ER, in the seasons closer to the end of the series.
  20. They are. Some of the food items may have slightly different names, depending on if they're sold at Carl's Jr. or Hardee's, too. Carl's Jr. is in the west, Hardee's in the east. Rally's & Checker's are in the same situation, but I don't know how they're divided (east/west, north/south, or what). And Best Foods/Hellmann's mayonnaise is another example (Best Foods in the west, Hellmann's in the east).
  21. Emmy-winning Producer Stanley Kallis dies at age 88. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/stanley-kallis-dead-police-story-producer-was-88-974382
  22. Aretha Franklin, "The Queen of Soul", says she's retiring from music. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/aretha-franklin-retiring-music-973796?utm_source=twitter
  23. Regarding the bolded: I saw a repeat from a previous season over a recent weekend & Valerie was put into a position where she had to comfort 1 of the kids who was losing it because their "bake" wasn't going as expected, & she might've been expected to give them some advice on how to fix it. Only Valerie didn't offer the expected advice; she comforted the kid & then said she couldn't help with the problems in the thing the kid was baking... but 1 of the other kid bakers could. I think Duff telling the kids to add more flour, or whatever, to compensate for the waffle iron, would probably have been another of those things that Duff couldn't tell them, but maybe 1 of the other kids could. Or else they either have to know it, or not, going into the competition.
  24. British comedy writer Alan Simpson dies at age 87. He & his writing partner were responsible for Steptoe & Son, the British comedy from which Norman Lear developed Sanford & Son. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2017/02/08/british-comedy-writer-alan-simpson-dies-87/97641688/
