  1. For those who think all of Danny's recent talk in the show about retirement means Scott's leaving the show (& making some happy by doing so), it looks like you shouldn't get your hopes up. Daniel Dae Kim recently posted to his Instagram account that the show has been renewed for S8 (which we know, & may have known, by the time he posted); & both Alex & Scott will be back for it. We should've expected Alex would be back--the "talk" has been that he's not leaving until after S8 ends. I honestly wasn't expecting Scott to go anywhere either; I assume his current deal where he gets to sit out 5 eps, or however many it is, per season will still be in effect though. This is a link to an H50 fansite post with a screencap of Daniel's Instagram post (I don't do Instagram). https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=931931563575909
  2. Peter Lenkov Tweeted her a Happy Birthday last year on Twitter, on her birthday, but I got stupid & forgot to write the date down when he did it. Sometime I may try to go back through his timeline & see if I can find it & get the date.
  3. That ep was more about the actual attack, & the local Japanese internment camp which came about afterwards, as opposed to the McGarrett family's connection to it. The McGarrett family connection in it was that Steve's namesake grandfather, who died in the attack, was (as I remember) being helped to study for some sort of officer's exam by the father in the Japanese family (& he gave a baseball mitt to 1 of the then-kids in the family). I think the kid turned into the adult who was stopped, at the beginning of the ep, for trying to kill someone he recognized (at a local Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony) from the internment camp which, of course, they were sent to after the attack though they were Japanese-Americans. He was involved with stealing the family's ceremonial sword, which was returned to the attempted killer at the end.
  4. I had read, during S1, though I don't know how serious it was, that Alex & Scott both were supposed to have producer-type credits by S5. I think Peter Lenkov said it in an interview.
  5. Season 7 Finale airs May 12th at 9PM Eastern/8PM Central. It doesn't appear to be 2 hours/2 eps this time, but I could be wrong; especially since Blue Bloods' season finale airs the previous week. Guess we'll see if it's 2 hours closer to May 12th. https://www.google.com/amp/tvline.com/2017/03/27/season-finale-dates-cbs-ncis-big-bang-theory/amp/
  6. Not for nothing but Claire van der Boom, who plays Rachel (Danny's ex & mother of both his kids), is also a bit younger than Scott Caan in real life. I think she was in her late 20's (I wanna say 27) when the show started. Which would put her almost in her mid 30's now. Scott is 40 in real life; he's mentioned, in character, this season/maybe last season that Danny's 39. Somehow they manage to make Claire look more "age-appropriate" for Scott's Danny. I remember not believing she was in her 20's in real life after I saw Rachel's introductory ep in S1; I figured she was in her 30's like Scott at the time. I'm just amazed Rachel's finally calling it quits with Stan. It took long enough. Both have been mentioning marital troubles since the characters were introduced.
  7. CBS announces renewals for the Fall 2017 season: http://tvline.com/2017/03/23/renewed-tv-shows-2017-hawaii-five-0-scorpion-cbs/
  8. I don't think that it was they didn't want to bring in any new people (a new CoS character) at that point; more like they probably couldn't due to the budget cuts required to keep the show on the air for the last season/season & a half. Therefore, they had to use what/who they already had to work with. Which was CJ because of the storylines involving the other cast members.
  9. I'm happy. Not for nothing, but Lenkov went 2 for 2--MacGyver also got a second season.
  10. Yes! At least when it was on Monday, we only had 1 March Madness pre-emption which was when the final game aired.
  11. Can someone please change the airdate in the thread title to March 31. That's the correct airdate; I swear I had it right when I created the thread, but now I notice it says 2017.03.29. Thanks!
  12. This is supposed to be a response to your second paragraph, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying in it. Barry Manilow--who is or isn't 3/4 of the way to an EGOT, depending on how you look at what constitutes a legitimate EGOT--received a "non-competitive" Tony Award in the 1970's for a series of concerts he played on Broadway (which were also recorded for his Barry Manilow Live album) at what was then the Uris Theatre & now (unless they've changed the name again) is the Gershwin Theatre. Most things I've read about EGOTs say "non-competitive" awards don't count towards the EGOT. In addition to the possibly questionable for an EGOT Tony, he's won a competitive Grammy (Male Pop Vocal, 1978, for Copacabana [At the Copa]), & 2 competitive Emmys for the Outstanding Variety Special category. He hasn't won, or been nominated for, an Oscar (or received a "non-competitive" Oscar). He sang Ready to Take a Chance Again, from the mid-1970's Chevy Chase & Goldie Hawn movie Foul Play, which was an Oscar nominee, however. So, he needs either a Tony & an Oscar or just an Oscar, depending on the Tony's legitimacy, to make EGOT.
  13. According to the Wikipedia page about the Academy Awards telecast, 24 awards are given out on the show not 12. Multiple, various articles I've read where they're quoted about what they do at the ceremony also say, more than once, the accountant's representatives each have a full set of 24 envelopes representing the awards being presented onstage that night in the briefcases they carry with them to their positions in the wings just offstage. But by the end of the night, each accountant should only have 12, unopened, envelopes if the presenters truly alternate which side they go onstage from (the other 12, opened, envelopes would've been given to the winner along with their Oscar).
  14. Yes the Independent Spirit Awards, for the best in independent films & performances, are awarded (& televised) on Saturday of Oscars weekend. So are the Razzies (for the year's worst films & performances). ABC pushes the start until 8:30 so they can have their own Red Carpet pre-show starting at 7--which they should be allowed (to have their own Red Carpet show) as the host network. All the cable network Red Carpet shows start before theirs, but I heard a long time ago that at least E!'s Red Carpet (really, probably all of the cable network shows) contractually has to be off the air before ABC's show.
  15. Sources I read yesterday claim that Whoopi's Tony doesn't count as part of the Triple Crown of major US entertainment industry awards Viola's now credited with being the first African-American actress to win because Whoopi's Tony was presented to her as 1 of the producers of a play (musical), Thoroughly Modern Millie, which had a successful revival on Broadway a few years ago. I thought/I'd read Whoopi's Tony didn't count because it was a "non-competitive" Tony marking the success of her original 1-woman show on Broadway, & "non-competitive" awards are said not to count towards EGOTs (the Grand Slam equivalent of US entertainment industry awards). Viola's Emmy, Tony, & Oscar were all won for roles she actually played (Annalise in HTGAWM & the wife/mother in Fences). So she's still in contention for a legitimate EGOT, if she can find a Grammy project that qualifies for EGOTs.
  16. They used to be on Mondays for years, at least most of the years I was in school. And the reasons they gave for moving them to Sundays (where they've aired since 1999) were they could get more viewers starting at 8:30PM Eastern on Sundays than 9PM on Mondays; they could avoid Los Angeles Rush Hour traffic trying to get participants to the ceremonies; the 8:30PM Eastern start time on Sundays would allow Eastern time viewers to go to bed earlier (which so far hasn't happened because the show continually manages to run longer than the scheduled timeslot). There are also reasons the ceremonies were moved to a late February to, possibly, early March timeframe. I remember watching them, a lot of the time growing up, with my parents in their room so I could take a nap during the "boring" categories (pretty much anything but the 4 acting categories, Best Director, & Best Picture) & through any Best Song performances not by singers/bands I wasn't a fan of, & (hopefully, if they stayed awake) have someone there to wake me up for the big cluster of awards I wanted to see (usually the lead acting, director, & picture categories) at or towards the end plus any best song nominees' performances they might've scheduled later in the show.
  17. Perhaps Alexis doesn't individually fit the supposed definition of those who do/don't belong in the In Memoriam segment but, as others have said, she does fit--in their opinion, & I agree--as part of the Arquette acting family, who could perhaps be considered American acting "royalty" as their family goes back in Hollywood for (at least) 40 years. I remember seeing the "grandpa" of the family, Cliff Arquette, as the comedic character Charley Weaver from Mount Ida, as a regular "square" on the original version of Hollywood Squares which, back then, was aired on NBC & hosted by Peter Marshall. These days, the family is represented in Hollywood by, among others, award-winning actress Patricia (aka Patty) Arquette & her brother, David Arquette. Until her divorce from David Arquette, & the resumption of her birth name, Cox, Friends & Cougar Town star Courteney Cox Arquette also was part of the Arquette acting dynasty in the US.
  18. They've said the accounting firm involved has been tallying the votes for 83 years, & the 2 accountants responsible for handing the envelopes to the presenters as they go on stage have been doing that for 3 years.
  19. Beatty, & wife Annette Bening, got some perhaps unwanted publicity at least 2 years ago (2013-ish, perhaps earlier) when their firstborn daughter (the child born before they were married), Kathlyn Elizabeth Beatty, came out as their transgender son, Stephen Ira Beatty, saying he'd felt that way since he was about 14 years old (Beatty subsequently declared Stephen his "hero" last year, 2016.).
  20. NCAA Men's Basketball (aka "March Madness") runs Tuesday, March 14-Monday, April 3 this year. We should be pre-empted for the Friday night NCAA games on March 17 & March 24, & I think that should be it.
  21. Besides H50, Daniel's best-known for playing Jin (I can't remember/don't know his last name), the male half of the Korean couple who apparently didn't speak English & who was among those stranded after the plane crash, in Lost. He did that show immediately before H50. You didn't say where you're watching the H50 reruns, but if you're watching them on TNT network in the US on late Wednesday nights/early Thursday mornings & on late Friday nights/early Saturday mornings (twice a week, up from once), you're about to start/have just started Season 4. The last ep I'm positive was on there was the S3 finale, this past late Friday night/early Saturday morning. Uncortunately, I can't help you with--at least your perception of--whether or not the Chin & Kono characters get to do anything "interesting" between where you seem to be, in the middle of S3, & the middle of S7 where those who've been watching the show in real time are/should be right now.
  22. I'm not sure why it didn't quote, but I'm commenting on Uke mentioning Nancy still skating in charity-related shows. She's also skating in those televised shows that usually air on either ABC or NBC, on (I think) Sunday afternoons during the fall/winter, which are sponsored by, like, Musselman's applesauce & at least sometimes have the pro skaters performing with their children. I saw Nancy skating in 1 a few weeks ago with her 2 sons & her daughter.
