Things Heard Around Paulie: The Rectify Quote Thread
Fisher King replied to Skyfall's topic in Rectify [V]
After the doctor gives the news that it's time to awaken Daniel from the induced coma: Amantha: Well, Mr. Holden. It's time to bring you back to the land of the living. Hope you're ready for it, 'cause it's a shit show. -

I love that. There was also a scene with Nate & Lisa -- after Lisa got the massage from an unwitting Brenda -- when she was calm and in an almost euphoric frame of mind. Nate noticed her changed demeanor and asked her about it. Lisa just said, "You're lucky I love you. You're lucky I do." I don't know. Just something about that.... -
Totally agree. I can see Grace setting her mother up for that. As much bad behavior as Grace may have learned from Jackie, along with her already existing issues & teenage angst, deception may be her idea of the ultimate achievement. "I'm better at this than you ever were, mother." That's just scary.

Season Five Speculation: The Seven Year(s later) Itch
Fisher King replied to Drogo's topic in Boardwalk Empire [V]
Maybe Margaret will have picked up some cunning conning tips from Rothstein before he dies. I'd rather see her doing well during a difficult time for most people. Sad-sack Margaret is too depressing, in and of itself, to watch anyway. -
Same here. I usually never try to judge a season by the pilot episode but this left me feeling less than enthused. Of course I'll keep watching. I did like the music very much. And it's always good to see Liv Tyler. Justin Theroux just gets better looking with age. First he gets his heart broken by Brenda Chenowith then tries to rescue a lost dog only to have it gunned down in his face, then we discover his kids could wind up like Mickey and Mallory Knox , then to top it off, we see that he's lost his wife to a cult of chain-smoking mimes. Then he has to leave his job at the end of the day and go home to Jennifer Aniston. Poor guy.

I thought I saw "Dominican" on some papers on the passenger seat but not positive. Zoey was awesome confronting Jackie. Jackie was flummoxed for once. Edie and Merritt were both superb in that scene. I guess Jackie is the new orange now.

S-3 Ep-8 "Tears, Bones and Desire" From the "Book of Daddy": Every day we must dance, if only in our minds. Why do we dance? Because we are happy to be alive. We must dance to say, "Thank you, God. Thank you for life." * Consider the trees which allow the birds to perch without calling them back. If your heart can be like a tree, you will be close to the way. * When the multitude laughs at you, you are blessed. * The physical body is only tears, bones and desire. You transcend, you don't preserve. * There is no death, only birth and birth and birth and birth. * I depart as air. I shake my white locks at the runaway sun. I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass that I love. If you want me again, look for me under your boot soles. You will hardly know who I am or what I mean, but I will be good health for you nevertheless. Missing me in one place? Search another. I stop somewhere...waiting for you. -

Season 2 had Brenda back in risky sexual territory and then writing about it. One memorable moment was when she was clothes shopping. Saleswoman: May I help you? Brenda: I'm looking for clothes so expensive only an idiot would buy them. Oh, there they are.... Brenda then makes eye contact with a man and saunters over to him where he semi-discretely puts his hand up her skirt. The saleswoman sees them and breaks it up, telling the man his wife is calling for him. The man departs. Saleswoman (to Brenda): You need to leave. Brenda: Do you validate? (I remember that whole thing being shocking, funny and awkwardly hot) -
They do to a semi-hippified, rebellious gal still living in the 80's in small town Georgia. :) I wouldn't doubt if her real name is Samantha and she dropped the "S" just to be contrary.

Great post, bourbon. All of it. Your point of Tawney's Christian love and forgiveness rings so true. I see her as someone who sincerely tries to walk that walk. I also believe that that's one of the main conflicts with Tawney and Teddy. He's just not as "devout" nor on the same page as Tawney. It also doesn't help that he feels Daniel's a threat to the family business. He's paranoid, jealous and wants Daniel to disappear while Tawney has innocently tried to be helpful. I guess it's a good thing that Tawney was honest with Teddy about Daniel having deeper feelings for her but Teddy's resentment toward him reflects in his cold shoulder with her. If T had her faith, it would be a different situation. JMO

Are You Waiting To Gobble Up The Leftovers?
Fisher King replied to Kromm's topic in The Leftovers [V]
Alan Sepinwall gives a rave review . Since many of my favorite shows are powerful enough to make some want to slit their wrists, how can I NOT be excited to watch? I'm expecting to really like it, so naturally the viewership will be low, possibly making this a one-and-done. Hope not. -
LOL!! Before she snuck out Lizzy made sure she announced that she had a degree from the "Barbara Walters School of Journalism" - and has that prime 6am gig at FAUX News.to prove it. ~So long, Sherri. See you on Twitter and the next TMZ divorce article. If Sal and the first ex don't take all your money, kid, eggs and wigs, you might get a slot on a shopping channel. Don't be a strang----uh, actually, it's best that we take some much-needed time apart. ~Buh-bye, Jenny. I must say that you did not annoy me. In fact, I didn't see you sitting there some days. You might have been more interesting if The Spew had ever bothered to hire a creative team to help out. The 4am guy can only do so much. See you when I read about your next Playboy spread. ~Goodbye, Sweaty Geddie. You will be missed.....by absolutely nobody. Surely to GOD they will get rid of those stupid guest selfies and the cluttered wall of photos.

From my understanding, (correct me please) the man that Trey visited was Mr. Melton, dead Georgie's father(?) who also has doubts about Daniel's guilt, and presumably has no inkling that Georgie is dead. He said he hadn't heard from him after calling him "queer" two years ago. Nice scenes with Daniel, his mother and Amantha after he woke up -- so sweet...and a little sad when he called out for Kerwin. Yes, AuntiePam, how dare that evil, rapist ahole invade Daniel's coma! Teddy continues to be an ass for the most part. Good moment with little brother Jared listening to Mazzy Star on the Walkman. Was that Hannah's voice on the tape?

I see what you're saying. She did have a look of glee on her face as he walked in and the news was on the TV. That spark of life in her was something that we've not seen before. The impression of fear hit me first, but that's probably just because their dynamic kinda creeped me out. And yes, we don't know enough about their personal history. Maybe they've both just been zoned out for years since Hannah's death.

NOW, Showtime is looking at the ratings. I guess they figured 'why bother' while it was up against Game of Thrones.

Should we start a speculation thread or just continue the conversation here? Maybe using spoiler tags for out-and-out bonafide spoilers? Gotta say I'm a tad disappointed about the huge time jump and that we won't see much of Al Capone's wreaking of havoc before his imprisonment or the specifics behind . I'm guessing that Gillian will have wormed her way out of prison by 1931. And there's this that MKW said about Chalky: <---Source

I agree that the son did it on his own and his mother's grief helped spark the son into the revengeful act. I also got the impression from her reaction that not only was she aware that he did the deed but that she is also scared of her son. Maybe that's just me. I felt even more strongly about that on a second viewing last night. There aren't too many people in that town that I trust at all, especially the deputy assisting the sheriff. I think the Senator has some skeletons he wants to keep hidden, and may not be if more truth about Hannah's death is revealed. ____________________________________________________________________________

I'm pretty sure it was a Jackie alias specifically for using Roman's ID number. Given her history, especially how low Jackie sank last week with Antoinette, I wasn't the least surprised that she used the "dying nun" (near-pun intended) to fake the Nancy name. It would have worked had Zoey not seen the actual ID. Yes, I think Zoey will reveal all to Akalitus. We've seen Jackie's many near-misses and bare-escapes by the skin of her teeth many times, so up until the wedding, things were going her way. And really, who there would have known who the dealer was if Grace hadn't called it to everyone's attention? That was a minor screwup by Jackie by comparison. All that stated, I rather enjoyed last night's episode. Jackie looked beautiful at the wedding. Her helping Fiona get to the altar was sweet and without incident...plus without using any cliched antics as the jealous ex-wife, etc. And Zoey squeeeing at the recommendation letter was awesome. It does look like Jackie has nowhere to run next week -- and it's past time for her to be held accountable.

Ted Jr.: "The best part of waking up, is Fauxlger's in your butt."
Fisher King replied to Skyfall's topic in Rectify [V]
Perfect thread description for Teddy! Brilliant. -
Funny how we all have different takes on these episodes. I laughed so much during the art gallery scenes. The Central Park/meteor shower scene was well done. I haven't watched the finale yet. Still soaking this one in.

Isn't Melvin also Amantha's landlord? We met him last season when she was looking for an apartment. ETA: Sorry. BlueBonnet already answered. Good callback with him and the turtle. I really liked the scene with him and Amantha.

Welcome back, show. Loved the scenes with Kerwin. Teddy's still an ass and is only going to get worse. Glad to see that Sheriff Daggett is bent on finding Daniel's attackers.

Don't plan it leaving anytime soon. It's like a tattoo. It can fade but it never goes away. SFU is like no other TV series. Even with its many flaws, it is a masterful work of art.
