I agree with you. I love Mulaney but this show doesn't do him nor the great cast justice at all. Yet. All the tools and parts are there. It just needs a very good mechanic I wouldn't even mind a Seinfeld 2.0 but I doubt the FOX network has the patience to allow this show to grow into its own the way NBC did with Seinfeld.

He absolutely is a superb YA Nucky. Pickering's teeth are more bucky than Nucky's but Buscemi's teeth in his early work were quite crooked and distracting.. I think Winter & Co. have done a great job of masking SB's teeth, along with Buscemi's acting of course.

I couldn't agree more. Great doppelganger!

This makes me uneasy for some reason. Are they reuniting under sad circumstances?

This cracked me up: Whoopi: I just came back from West Africa....ACHOO!!

Aside from the maniacal stabbing of Al's underling in the face with a small replica of the Empire State Building, this was a very good episode. I'll just echo everyone else's remarks. Great chemistry between Nucky and Margaret still. It was so cool seeing Margaret in a festive mood -- no time for sad-sack Peg of Old anymore . The conversation about the situation with Mrs. Rothstein remains ambiguous to me. Nucky is willing to help Margaret, all she has to do is SAY IT. Margaret is willing to do what Nucky says, but she wants HIM to SAY IT. The little Thompson brothers broke my heart but I was so glad to see someone treating them well, in a good (better) environment. I'm also not the biggest P. Arquette fan but she was really good in this series. RIP, Sally. So, Van Alden's cover has truly been blown. It's decision time - again. As much as it pains me to say this, I don't see NVA making it out alive. But he's really no better than Capone or any other thug. Michael Shannon has made this character a joy to watch, and the writers have managed to endear this loathsome creature to me beyond any expectation that I never had.

I'm really only watching any more just to laugh at the ridiculousness that is this show. Tonight's premiere did not disappoint. Juliette looked and sounded different, acting completely OTTop. I'd forgotten that HP is pregnant. Rayna's just boring. Luke sucks. Teddy was nice for a change. And OF COURSE the reality show/gay scandal was expected. I thought the road trip was actually quite fun. At least that was intentionally meant to be funny.

I just called him "Juber this, Juber that" on account of that song he sang in the first episode. Glad he's gone, in any case. I feared for the two women held in their home. Too much time was wasted on that scene IMO. I'll be so glad when Chalky ultimately does get rid of Narcisse. I do believe that was Tommy trying to get that job.

I got the indication today that she is indeed wearing one now. It sure looked to me like she audibly responded to someone instructing them to move on. I can imagine those things are hard to get used to - and would explain much of why Rosie has been acting so different from the past. For the reasons you mentioned above, maybe she's hesitant to reveal that she's wearing one until she gets used to it - or ditches it.

Good question. I wasn't sure so did a quick Google & nothing really jumped out at me. I did find this article mentioning tomorrow's interview with Rosie. It also has the interview from 1997 when Barbra appeared on Rosie's show.

I loved the scrapbooks! Unless someone says something particularly hurtful, I believe they'll be able to shake it off.

OMG, the Neil Patrick Harris interview was fantastic. An honest conversation with two cohosts who are really interested in him. This is the kind of stuff the show has been missing for YEARS. A+

That may also explain some her subdued-ness & restraint now! Someone's in her ear going, "Nope, don't say anything yet. Not yet....Shuttee..." Like Doug from King of Queens.

Heh. Whoopi's hungover and feeling combative. So now she's pro-whipping and pro-shaming a 4-year old. It's 3 against 1. I'm with the other 3, Whoops.

I like that: --> a whole 'nother Nucky! I'll have to trust they did cast someone who looks a little more like Steve Buscemi for 10 years later. My heart goes out to Eli. I know he betrayed Nucky many times, but his true allegiance has always been to his family. If he's not reunited with them by the end, he will likely die very soon.

I'm loving the flashbacks. Great casting for young Nucky, and the actor playing a younger Commodore does have Dabney Coleman's chin. Looking forward to the early Gillian years, but I'm sure the hookup with Commodore will be hard to watch. Guess we'll find out just how much Nucky was involved in that. Nucky's dad is awful but Al Capone is the worst. Stephen Graham is killing it.

I think Ro had on shoes today, or socks anyway. No toe Ro.

It's only day 2, as many have said. Too soon to predict IMO. There's gonna be huge shift in tone the first day that Whoopi's out and Ro moderates. The crowd will whip into a frenzy having Ro back in the mod seat. I know I look forward to it. Just keeping my fingers crossed that when that happens, hopefully, Ro can retain the current calmer demeanor when she has to go back to second chair.

I couldn't agree more. I'm sure that the heart issues and the weight loss play a huge part. Then there's the depression.... Just seems like a spark missing. She doesn't smile like she used to. I like the set. It's more light and airy or something.

Happy to say it did not. Whoopi was stuffing her mouth while telling us to take time to enjoy the view but at least a former host wasn't there digging in with her fingers while ecstatically moaning. Another note was that RR was overly self-promoting but precisely to the point. Again, at least former host wasn't there to incorrectly inform us the same info from those blasted blue cards.

Damn, this was a very impressive show today. And it's about time. After the silly "Queen Barbara" open, it was quite entertaining, definitely a refreshing change. Of course it's gonna take some time to work out the kinks and for the panel to get accustomed to one another. Besides losing weight Rosie O seems to have changed. She looks great and didn't overwhelm anyone. I didn't even mind her feet. I also noticed Whoopi trying to give her the stink eye after the Woody Allen remark. I'm so glad there's someone there willing to counter Whoopi's headstrong opinions by offering details of the topics being discussed. I hope this lasts. And I hope that Rosie is just as accepting when she becomes impassioned and gets the same treatment....and you know it's bound to happen. I got a kick out of Whoopi not being able to say Sarah Palin with a straight face. I found Nicolle to be a little tense but informed and likable. No sign of Cackles yet. And Rosie P is definitely not the ditz I might have thought she was at one time. The Joan tribute was sweet. Adrian Peterson needs to be behind bars instead of free to play his game, or he at least needs to know what it's like to be whipped in the scrotum.

I know many people are annoyed by her voice but maybe what she has to say will offset that somewhat. I've enjoyed she times she appeared on Letterman.
