Sorry, but this is actually true. I knew the kid.

Over my many years of teaching, I came across many interesting names. I had a couple of girls named "Princess", a boy named "Sir", and there was a Sundaycarbirth in our district (he went by Sonny, I think). I had a Robbertt in the hospital nursery. The absolute worst was a boy whose name was spelled S-h-i-t-h-e-a-d, pronounced "Sha-thawd. Then there was a boy misnamed Angel. The school pictures should have included a profile shot in addition to the front view.

Not only did I learn to type on a manual typewriter with onion skin and carbon paper, I learned with the keys of the typewriter blanked out. One of the most useful skills I ever learned was "touch typing".

Oral health has a lot to do with health in general. Because of my knee replacement, I will have to take antibiotics before every dental appointment for the rest of my life. In fact, I was told I could not have my teeth cleaned for at least 6 weeks prior to the surgery just to cut down on the chance of bacteria from my mouth spreading in my blood. A lot of heart conditions such as valve replacements and endocarditis require meds before dental work.

And cleaning antique bottles, flower vases, and the wine cruet at church.

Today the San Francisco Giants baseball team brought up a young player named Steven Dugger. He did very well in his first game, and I am looking forward to watching him and his baseball progress (I'm a huge Giants fan). But at the same time it makes me so sad for all of JB and Mechelle's kids. They have never, and will never, have the chance to play in organized sports and experience the joy of belonging to a team, and they will never learn the valuable life-lessons that are gained from working with others. If I remember correctly, JB took some of the kids to a minor league game once and tried to explain how baseball works. Unfortunately, he had no idea what was going on, and the kids looked totally lost sitting in the stadium with strangers around them. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Supporting your children in team sports takes time, effort, and the desire to do the best for each of your children as individuals. (GO GIANTS)

A few years ago TLC had a program titled "Double Divas", which was about two business women who own a bra-fitting shop. They are real experts, and the show was interesting. They did actually make a bra for a goat who was having udder problems. They made a bra for a woman who had no arms. They had other very interesting clients, as well as everyday women who need a good fitting bra. Molly, one of the owners, is currently on the show "90 Day Fiance" because she decided to bring home the bar tender from her Caribbean vacation, and she is now in a mess. Anyway, several women on the 90 Day Fiance board have said that they have been to this shop, and that they had an excellent experience. Molly and her business partner are apparently the real deal when it comes to bra fitting, and they are extremely kind. I hope this information is useful.

I never wear shoes in my house. In fact, I never bring shoes into my house. Shoes come off in the garage and are stored on a shelf. Slippers go on in the house. I do want dirty shoes in my clean closet, either. Just thinking what shoes walk in makes me sure they don't belong int he house. My floors stay much cleaner.

Didn't Michelle make a statement to the fact that she nursed her babies on demand? She even nursed a baby while standing on a moving float in a parade (the baby was under the "nursing cover' thing). I would hope Joy would know when to feed her baby. That being said, I have read accounts from women who had to "obey" their headship in all things, so if Austin says to let the baby scream, I guess that is what Joy would "have" to do.

Yep, that's the show. I would so go there if I didn't live on the other side of the country. Moll and her business partner appear to really know their business!

Here's an idea. Molly from 90 Fiance really is an expert bra fitter. A couple of years ago she and her business partner had their own show about fitting various women in various situations. It was actually pretty interesting. Automatic cross-over show idea. Makes sense to me. And it would be so good for Joy.

I, too, break out in huge hives when I eat any wheat. Wheat has not been too hard for me to avoid; I order hamburgers without the bun, skip the bread and any thing breaded. I read labels, and don't eat any processed foods. I make my own bread using a variety of rice flours. It has become very easy for me to say "no, thank you" when in a group situation. Unfortunately, I have the same "welty" reaction to asparagus, and I live in the asparagus capital of the world. And I love it! Every restaurant around here serves it when it is in season. I have to remember to be very specific when I eat out. What has been a surprise to me is how many restaurants just pick the croutons off the salad when I request that they leave them off. Do they not realize that the bread crumbs have already contaminated the salad? Again, I have to be very specific.

I just watched some new wedding show where the upcoming bride and groom attend 3 weddings and try to guess the cost. One of the weddings served a plated dinner: fast food chicken and mashed potatoes (think KFC). The wedding couple apparently ordered enough dinners for everyone, and then plated the food very attractively. The wedding planner was saying how that was one way to cut down reception costs, and, apparently, the guests were happy with the food.

Here the local community college has a program for high schoolers. All classes at the community college, and students complete their high school classes as well as the classes necessary to complete their AA. My friend's son graduated with his HS diploma and 3 AA degrees (he attended summer school to get the extra classes). The students need to qualify for the program, but it is not unthinkable for any motivated student to succeed in this program. I think a lot of the students transfer to a 4 year as a junior.

How did she know the exact angle to make their heads so hugely out of proportion? At least I hope it is just an optical illusion.......

I absolutely refuse to pay for bags anywhere. 10 cents for a flimsy plastic bag is just wrong. My grocery boxes go with me everywhere, including Target, Costco, the pharmacy, Lowes, and of course, the grocery store. I use collapsible tote boxes which are very sturdy, fold easily and are so convenient to handle. The checkout clerks and baggers LOVE them.

It happened to a family I know. There doesn't need much water if you are unconscious. You can drown if you end up face down in just a few inches of water.

I have no time for Jill, or her family, or her beliefs, but this accident could have had such a different outcome. A family I know had two teenage sons who were driving along a levy road in a pickup. The pickup swerved and flipped into the ditch, and their youngest son did drown. So awful. So similar to this accident. The family I know, however, did not grift for a new truck.

When I was in first grade, I lived where there was snow. One day on my way home from school, I found dead bird that had frozen. I felt so sad for the bird that I buttoned it inside my coat to thaw it out so it could fly away. My mom unbuttoned my coat when I walked through the door, and was not pleased to find my "rescue". Poor bird--but I tried!

For years, when I was teaching second grade, I did a science unit on animals. When we learned about annelids, I would go to the bait store and buy worms. Everyone in my class was given a worm to hold. We didn't use the word "yucky"; instead we said "how interesting". Even the kids who were creeped out at the beginning ended up holding their worm ("How Interesting"). Most ended up asking if they could take their worm home. After that, every time it rained, and there were worms on the sidewalk or playground, my students would pick them up and move them to a safe place so they wouldn't get stepped on. Then some kids starting naming them......

A few seasons ago, there was speculation that Jana was "tomato staked" to her parents for some reason. Did we every find out why?

Cuties are very popular here in California. I have never seen Darlings.

At least they aren't going to be at the church in Lodi where they have spoken before (I can't think of the name). I know where it is, but I have no reason to drive on that road any more. It is only about 15 minutes from me. They can stay in Sacramento.

COSTCO sells Kirkland canned chicken, and it really isn't too bad. It is just skinless chicken cut up into small chunks.
