Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
Peanut6711 replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
RoJohn told the story back in the 80s during the Stockholm storyline (the bonds storyline) when the memory came back to him and he remembered what actually went down and why Orpheus was after him. It was established that in 1979, he and Orpheus were ISA partners on some case that dealt with these treasury bonds and Russian spies. Rebecca somehow came across some information that affected their mission (I think about the Russians) and came out to warn them. Back then Roman (RoJohn) treated her death as a bad mistake/accident. He compared her to Marlena and the other Salemite heroines who tended to get involved/help in the adventures/mysteries of that time. He seemed genuinely remorseful, not this jackassy she-shouldn't-have-been there crap that Chris Kostichek Roman spouted. -

I was referring to the color scheme, bedding, plants, and lamps--all look like an adult's style, not something that would interest a kid. Incidentally though, the other week on HGTV's No Demo Reno, the designer used that wood paneling on the bottom half of the wall for her 3 year old's room; however, she painted it pink. She gave the cost, which I forget the exact amount, but it wasn't cheap. It added quite a bit to the reno budget so Carlin using it just seems like an extra expense for something a toddler also wouldn't care about. -

Carlin clearly does not realize that her kid isn't thirty yet. That's an adult bedroom design style not a toddler's. -
*hands you the remote and takes a seat next to you* " Let's fast forward to the 14th where it all comes to an end. See I'd take Orpheus and Kristin any day over Zander. I like that they at least own their bad deeds. Orpheus, in particular, makes no apologies. Never has and hopefully never will. They are villains and that's the way they should be. It's Zander being turned into a romantic lead that turns my stomach.

Orpheus’s wife died in ’79, but their kids don’t look old enough to have been born before the eighties. #ThingsRonProbablyShouldn’tRemind ViewersOf Evan and Zoe should be in their forties. While I always enjoy Orpheus episodes, the geriatric white knights were laughable. First, they struggle to do letter puzzles with basic math and then they guessed colors while snipping bomb wires instead of just carrying the ladies out of there to safety. Clearly, they were worried about throwing out their backs since Orpheus didn’t include Ben-Gay in his adventure game package. Dear Retcon Ron, Victim blaming isn’t cool. So Rebecca was supposed to call out her presence yet alone her name when arriving to warn her husband and his partner during a dangerous clandestine mission. Seriously? Back in the day, RoJohn did credit her for being brave and trying to help them. But now Chris Kositcheck Roman is treating her death like it was her fault he’s trigger happy. Also, Orpheus called out to try and stop him. Seems Roman has forgotten that in his old age. Guess John forgot it too since he also has Roman’s memories. Sincerely, Please Watch Old Episodes More Closely Stephanie has told the ‘ex who ghosted me’ story twice in two consecutive days (1 day in Salem based off that awful pants suit she’s still wearing). Yep, he’s so gonna show up in town soon. How many times are we going to have to sit through ‘Dimera Enterprises calls a board meeting vote?’ Does Ron not realize it’s pretty pathetic that the company named after Salem’s big bad for decades has been reduced to fighting over who runs a hooker-ware clothing line. Yep, he's still playing Ben. -

Ditto on the above, especially the bold. NuEJ comes off as a cry-baby, constantly trying to soothe his wounded ego. If the show was so intent to bring EJ back on canvas (without JS) knowing AS only pops back for limited runs, then they should have made Allie and Johnny teenagers and focused on EJ trying to raise them (as well as maybe a preteen Sydney). We could have gotten an introductory scene where Sami got some international business job offer that was too good to pass up (establishing a good reason for why Sami comes and goes) and EJ telling her that she took care of him during his recovery, so they'll return to Salem and he'll take care of the kids now and then have him find out how hard it is to raise teenagers. This would have given viewers better character establishment of grown Allie and Johnny by starting them on screen younger (plus they don't act like adults half the time now) and created plenty of conflict as Johnny butted heads with EJ and Allie resented him as a step-dad. Maybe the Chanel triangle would have been less annoying too if she'd have met them both at Salem High. I too noticed MM's look/hair was cuter yesterday. -
Anyone think the Li reference makes him Ab's killer??? https://www.dayscafe.com/spoilers-this-week.html Week of Sept 5: https://www.dayscafe.com/weekly-spoilers.html

We can all be thankful Carlin didn't develop a mystery GI disorder💩. Imagine the videos on that...."Carlin's Explosive Poo: Caught on Tape!" -

Pointless, pretentious, and pompous. Ron really needs to reveal that he's not the real EJ and just a brainwashed imposter that someone sent. He can do the same for Roman while he's at it and return him to Chris Kostichek status. Would at least create a new storyline. Ron can file it all under 'recasts that didn't work.' -

Amen! I thought it was laughable too that EJ and Tony were so quick to dismiss what Ava (also a person brought back from the dead) said she saw. Like the Dimera property is one of the devil's favorite stomping grounds when he/she is in town, and Salem's mad scientist is on their payroll! Have they not thought to check in on what's he's been up to since being pardoned? No one wonders what Rolf is doing to pass the time now that he's free? -

If Ron isn't going to keep a cheat sheet of the things he writes, then he needs to break out the leaves to cover the dates like he did with Adrienne's grave stone. -

Bless YT if it starts inserting ads for birth control and vaccines into her videos for all her fundie viewers. 😁 Bonus points if it drives them away. -

Gabi's green dress was pretty. Nice to see her in something that isn't from the hooker wear line. Jake's grave plate says he was born in 1979. I could have sworn Stefan's grave stone in a previous episode said 1974. -

I think it's largely a rehash from 5 years ago. 35 years ago though, it had a lot more twists and nuance. Back then Orpheus made RoJohn think Marlena was dead, sent his siter-in-law to town to make RoJohn move on with her, then dangled the idea in front of him that Marlena might be alive. It was much more of a complicated mind fuck. Steve and Kayla were only his target when they got in his way. But I guess since the geriatric heroes and heroines don't have much of a brain these days, Orpheus figures his plots and plans can be lame and rehashed. At this point, I'm still on #TeamOrpheus whether he has a good plan or good motive or not because the rest of them just annoy me. What was most laughable about this storyline today was trying to picture Chris Kostichek Roman as an ISA agent, yet alone Orpheus's former trigger-happy partner. -

I agree that they are still in reality TV show mode, whether they have the show anymore or not. Probably doing this in part to try and get another gig. But stopping breastfeeding due to a common breastfeeding infection is not the right direction either. Not only would it be another example of them giving up when the going gets tough so to speak, but pediatricians recommend breast milk for the first 6 months, longer when possible. (I breastfed mine for over a year.) Given the spotty and questionable health care they appear to provide for their kids, Zade probably needs all the extra antibodies he can get, especially since he's been sick for the last month. Besides, her doctors are well aware she's a breastfeeding mother, if it was a factor in all this (which I'd highly doubt), they'd have mentioned it. -

I shudder to think what the video headlines will be when they try to add that realism. And will she really pee herself or will someone helping her inconspicuously dribble some water down her leg? Anything seems possible with these two. -

Sonny referred to Stephanie as a "young girl." Except Stephanie should be a year older than him. I hope Orpheus eats the cake for dessert. -

Their house purchase at the time/market they bought in seems like another impulsive decision that wasn't thought out. The market is starting to turn so if they would have just waited another year, they'd likely get a similar house for less. But buying when they did, means they won't be accruing any equity any time soon. And if their finances really tank and they need to sell, they might have to take a loss. Or face foreclosure if they can't make the payments now that Evan doesn't have steady full-time employment with benefits. -

Between posting that he got hired (BSB) after getting fired (not returning to work post FMLA would go down as voluntary termination/job abandonment I'd imagine) I can't see any way he'd qualify for unemployment now. Financially, they are so screwed with a new (and likely big) mortgage, medical bills, and 2 kids. But they clearly aren't smart enough to realize that yet. -
Stephanie's own father, though, is a perfect example of a non legacy family character coming on screen and being not only a successful love interest but a character that's spawned many stories. Yet, Steve's only attachment when he came to town was of an old friend/foe of Bo's. It was from him that the Johnson family was later developed. The show needs a better balance of main families and "outsiders." The lack thereof is why we get either these "incest-feeling" romances or characters who are limited in who they can date.

I found Wednesday's show engaging. It was the only day I actually wanted to pay attention. Orpheus gets the best lines. I thought it also had the most action--the commotion with Stefan at the door/Ava fainting, and the intercut between John/Steve/Stef/Paulina and Kayla/Marlenda/Orpheus & crew. In contrast, Thursday's ep seemed to be filled with horny people who need a cold shower. God help us if Alex smashes into Nicole and she starts wet dreaming about him. -

It didn't sit well with me either. Zade sandwiched between Carlin and Layla on soft bedding while having an illness that required breathing treatments sounds like a recipe for SIDS. Yep, I was thinking it looked like a movie poster for a horror movie. It just needed a creepy hand or monster to be crawling out from under the portal to hell bed. 🤣 -
Or they used 'they' because Ron hadn't made up his mind who the killer is when he shot that scene.
