  1. Maybe I've watched too much tv in my 49 years, but that didn't flout my expectations at all! 😀Since they obviously think Philo and Vignette are some sort of star crossed lovers, they had to set Portia up to get rid of her somehow, so this was as good as any other reason. I shipped Portia/Philo, but that doesn't mean I thought they'd last. Now *that* would have gone against expectations.
  2. Okay, I did NOT like that you had Portia react that way, show. She and Philo were my OTP. (that's it, that's the comment)
  3. I already ship Philo with Portia Fyfe (the on/off) instead of Vignette.
  4. Probably the hair color, but he also looks like he put weight on for the part. He's the reason I even found the show (I fell in love when I saw in him School Ties and made my friends stay for the credits to see who he was).
  5. Oh for god's sake. The finale was so poorly written (when will I ever figure out the housing situation?) that even my love for Cole Hauser and Kevin Costner wasn't going to keep me watching and then I had to see the "new cast members" coming and Now I'm stuck.
  6. Easy to do! I think quite a few of them were on both shows. I'm a huge Jason Wiles fan, that's the only reason I thought you may be thinking of him.
  7. Are you thinking of Jason Wiles? He was on Third Watch, Shawn never was although he was on Southland. Thank you for pointing out Renee, totally didn't recognize her! I loved her on ATWT, I hope she makes more appearances, maybe she'll become like a Mom to the group.
  8. I'm from a rural Kansas farming town of around 100 people....500 if you're counting the township. So I guess "your miles may vary" as they say. I don't hate the show, I just hate that a whole lot of it makes absolutely no sense, they drop characters at will, and they've made Beth an extremely unlikeable character. S1 was 100% better and even it has some flaws, but at least it made more sense. But hey, the scenery is pretty. Edited to add: I'm just very frustrated with this show because I love so many of the actors, which is why I started watching to begin with.
  9. Well that would have been an idiotic choice because there's nothing an editor and writer would have liked more than the star of the piece killing himself before they went to print. They wouldn't even need a click bate headline, the views/readership would have been doubled easily no matter how salacious the original piece was. If this wasn't a freelance situation - and if it was real life - whatever editor the reporter works for already knew about the piece (probably assigned it to her), viewed it along the way, made notes asking for details, and cut and changed copy. And if they were at the stage where they were confirming quotes, more than one person had already seen it and had a hand in creating it. I
  10. What the ever living hell did I just watch? Someone tell me if I'm wrong here, but it seemed like John told Jaime he should kill himself? Jaime kills someone to protect his family after being goaded by both is father and god-awful-excuse-for-a-human sister, then while he's traumatized by this act of desperation his Dad's response is it'd been better if you killed yourself? (again, maybe I misread that scene? Hopefully?) I really loved S1, but S2 is like some giant shark jump. At this point my only hope is that Jaime goes completely batshit, drugs Beth and John, then sets the whole damn house on fire while they sleep.
  11. I hate Beth. And it's not even a fun kind of hate-watch hate. It's just plain intense dislike. And what is this "the one person I know who doesn't get scared?" bs? Beth is probably the most constantly scared person on the show. Everything she does and says is out of fear. Proof Dutton doesn't know his kids, I guess.
  12. Really liked this episode. I think Smurf is after Jed's gold, that's what I'm guessing was behind the other door in the bunker. Stealing a cool million would be a great way to go out...if she's going out. I love how they write J. He and Smurf are the only ones playing chess, the rest are stuck on checkers. And I think he's been on to Angela for a long time (I've thought from the start - like several here - that she's an informant). The cash/taco truck/memory lane stuff was brilliant. Finn Cole seems to have that "it factor." As soon as I saw him on Peaky Blinders I knew he'd have a bright future ahead of himself. BTW, I think if push came to shove, Deran would choose Adrian over his family.
  13. I DVR'd the first three episodes, so I'm just now watching. It's odd because it seems like Kelly Reilly's accent is coming through a LOT. I didn't notice it that much last season, but so far in the first two episodes she's reaching Ben Robson in Animal Kingdom levels of slippage.
  14. Hmmm...I'm still dubious. Maybe I'm just too skeptical but there's a difference between "oh this is the kind of person my Dad would like" and "this is the person out of everyone else in my city that my dad is having sex with." I mean, a lot of folks here didn't even know Jules was trans until they read comments, so again not sure how Nate figured that out from his few minutes with her. I guess he could be more "in tune" with looking for trans people due to his father? But this is all just a sticking point with me that I felt the need to comment on. There's no right or wrong and it's not like there's anything that can be done about it. Ha! So yeah.
  15. The tape didn't show a face though (I mean, I gues maybe from the side), and it looked dark and grainy. Not sure how he'd recognize her from that and his adrenaline charged 1 minute he "met" her at the party.
  16. So this town/city is large enough that there's a selection of "twinks and fembois" if that's your preference, but small enough that a father and son both choose the same one? I mean, it makes an interesting plot twist I guess, but really?
  17. You know that phrase "it is what it is?" Well it was what it was. I'm just happy I'm someone who cares more about the journey and not the final episode of a show. I'll remember all of it except the final two episodes. Last week was a huge disappointment and this week was boring as hell and anticlimactic. That's all I got.
  18. That's what I predicted last week because THAT WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE and would have been an earned ending. Instead they take a - what? 4 season? 5 season - redemption arc and throw it away like it never happened. I mean sure, you finally have sex with another woman, one you have slowly fallen in love with, then you learn that your sister/lover hired someone to kill you, and you immediately leave the bed of the one we thought you loved and made you a better man, to GO RUNNING BACK TO YOUR SISTER/LOVER! Good god. Usually being wrong about a tv show's writing decisions doesn't make me ragey. Today it does. (my laptop says I've spelled ragey wrong which is making me even more mad)
  19. I'm honestly surprised a lot of folks seemed to have viewed the Jaime/Brienne scene so differently than I did. I thought it was obvious that he was intentionally pushing her away so that she didn't try to go with him or follow him, so he could go do what he thinks he has to do: go kill Cersei. Everything up to that point pointed toward that being the reality of the scene, at least to me.
  20. I'm now convinced the only reason Vanessa was added to the mix was to carry the baby around.
  21. I just came here to comment about this. I got the impression that the infamous yelling was off camera, it wasn't even when they were sitting with nachos. Because Bernie actually talked about saying it happened when they all sat down together, and he wasn't there for the nachos. Actually twice he mentioned the blow up in the context of him being there. So that makes me wonder what the actual yelling was about...not that we can't guess. Edited to add: and I think it's a disservice to Brandy to link the incident to the discussion they showed because that discussion didn't even really show Paige yelling.
  22. You're so sweet, but no need to apologize. I'm a few months from 50 now, so I've learned to not take that sort of (really odd) hate personally. I'm actually still friends with a few Michael/Isobel shippers (Cliffhangers) to this day, so the experience was worth it. I'm with you, I like the mystery aspect of this series even if I'm not overly invested - yet- in any of the actors. I often wish they'd just started over with a new generation of aliens rather than kept the same names because I think that just begs for comparison and it's not always favorable if the comments here this week are any indication of the general consensus.
  23. Chemistry is an interesting thing and so subjective. Everyone will view characters and couples with their own backgrounds and relationships - as well as preferences - in play. You can see evidence of this in this very thread. I'm just happy that shipping is the least interesting part of tv shows for me (nowadays). Less angst that way, it seems. I made the mistake the first time around of taking an interest in Michael/Isobel and good lord, that was my first experience being "attacked" for liking a pairing of fictional characters. Don't worry, I'm not shipping them this time around. 😆
  24. I'm honestly surprised they don't show more of Mike. I've followed his youtube channel for a while now and he's the reason I even heard about the Beach Club. The guy has a HUGE personality which has been buried on the show. (MikeMGTV on youtube) He's doing recaps of every episode on his channel, and it's worth a watch.
  25. Thank you! No clue why I couldn't tell if it was Michael or Max. But I would have figured out the Liz part if I had the guy figured out.
