  1. I loved Greg's accent, but it reminds me of Northern Maine (home). It is that combination of Canadian/English and local dialect. It is like what you would have heard in Fargo (the movie). That lilt of people who live near the Canadian border, but do not necessarily speak French. I found it endearing and I could hear it immediately. I had a voice and diction Instructor as an undergrad who told us that she could pinpoint our area of origin by just hearing us talk about specific topics. I think that my ear is tuned to those particular "lilts" of the northern border states, much like a person who lives in the South can hear the differences between Southern and regional dialects. Callie is great, but I have been on the Fowler train once I heard he was from Maine, so I am hoping he will win. I agree that Megan will be next to tap.
  2. Number 11 is still my favorite, even with a chapped ass.
  3. Animals against Aloners/ Animals are mockingly winning. Foxy was cute. I actually did not want Fowler to get the bird. I bird watch and that little guy was cute. Is Fowler the first to capture a bird? I cannot remember. The boar on that camera was huge.
  4. Let me preface this to say that I have been wrong on my predicted winner for the last 2 seasons of Alone, however, if he doesn't breach any of the rules set forth by his contract, then there may be nothing in the contract which stops Fowler from talking about anything and everything except anything that hasn't aired yet. I know that Jose put out a lot of video commentary last year too, not as much as Fowler's overall media presence though. I still think it is because he won, but I have struck out 2 times already! So, what do I know! For what it is worth, I think Top Chef is a much bigger, well known, multi-season show with bunches of spin-offs and successful chef winners who have gone on to other shows and a lot of success. Alone is a smaller, niche thing (IMO). Perhaps the contract is much more rigid for Top Chef?
  5. I answered my own question by watching farther in. When Lori (I can only remember her Walking Dead name) told Sawyer (I can only remember his Lost name) to go get Charlie, I went, oh yeah, flashback. The way the walls went up was cool. I thought there would be more freaking out by people though. I think that I need to re-watch season one, because I was fuzzy on some of the finer details. But, the guy who ultimately becomes the Mayor was always a slimeball. Past and present. lol.
  6. I watched it online and the 2nd episode came up immediately after the first. Like they were combined. Did you let the first ep play all the way out?
  7. Yeah, while I caught it this AM, I had to think, is this a flashback. Is it?
  8. Or "Blue Sky"! (Breaking Bad reference right there)
  9. I cannot remember if this occurs in other Last Chance Kitchens, but I really do not like the other chefs giving hints and telling the chefs what to do or not to do. Silvia redid that sauce because of what the audience said to her. She didn't end up winning, but I still don't think that is fair. If the audience chefs really are pulling for one chef over the other, then they can essentially help them quite substantially. I think Jim would have won the 2nd round if that last garnish hadn't been so salty. I thought his dish looked sublime.
  10. Random thoughts: Even though Callie re-emphasized how "alone" they are, we all know that is not totally true (we have heard talk of a prior season where there was an actual road and a town near one of the contestants). The end of Alan's stay, they showed that they visit weekly for health checks (blood pressure, weight etc...) and probably for legal protection for production as well. So when we found this out at the end of season one, it really isn't "alone" after all. You would know that once a week, someone will come to see you, even that small interaction can lift spirits. I find it odd that a lot of Dan's thoughts were always voice overs. A good majority of his video was of him not talking-it struck me as odd-I thought why? I wonder if they had him voice over his thoughts after tapping, because he never talked (or very rarely talked to the camera)? I also wonder if they filmed some of that stuff after the fact as well. If any camper knows, I am curious. If you have an infected bite (like Callie's) wouldn't going into the sauna help (and application of the poultice)? Might that not bring the infection out? Just wondering if that could have helped (or maybe that is what she ended up doing)? Seems Fowler was right about moving up the mountain and the lake rise. I cannot watch Dave at all, especially when eating. He is so filthy. His hands. It makes me retch. Greg is dirty, but he is not as gross about filming the eating as Dave is. I like Greg, but he is minimalist in what he is doing. he doesn't see it as permanent and is just trying to white knuckle it out. With Fowler and Callie out there, I don't think that will be enough to win. I think Fowler's happy and extensive media presence is a nod to his win. (IMO-not a spoiler) ETA: I just want to thank SRTouch for the recaps. I remember watching this horrific show about a group of people who were going to start a new society (man, what was the name of that show?). It had so many issue like animal abuse and stuff, that the recaps were a really important part of the viewing experience. So thanks SRTouch!
  11. OK, SOOOO, Master Strategist, Dan, makes fun of all the other people's methods of handling the alone time and even laughed and joked about people who cry and miss their families, and then cries and taps for that EXACT reason. Dan, you are a loser for making fun of others, NOT because you tapped out early (due to missing your family natch). NO Fowler tonight-BOOO Never any Megan. Worried about Greg, but he has more balls than Dan the "lazy man". Greg just keeps on, keeping on. He looks like that character from the Peanuts (Pig Pen) with the dust cloud around him, but he will have to be half-dead before he quits. It just isn't in him. He finds a way. I sort of admire him. If I didn't like Fowler so much, I would be team Greg all the way. Worried about Callie. I wonder if they saved her tap for next episode? I think Kayleigh may also be soon. Looks like "Foxy" makes an appearance again (I don't want Foxy killed!). I think that Fowler is gonna bag something, I hope it is not the fox though.
  12. Did he talk about it on the regular show, or the preview show? I missed the preview show.
  13. You may be referring to one of my posts, because I made the comment about his bad spelling being humorous because it was really out there. I said that before I knew he was dyslexic. But, my comments have nothing to do with anything negative against him or people who are dyslexic. I really looked at his spelling as more like: big burly guy, big fingers, small keyboard, and like when a person hits a key and you get several letters or the wrong ones and you get wild spellings, but you can still get the gist of what they mean. My husband does the same thing. Luckily he uses the speech recognition thing to send texts, otherwise it is a mess! lol
  14. Really glad to hear this. I suspected that there was no way that the "boat maker" wouldn't have made a boat unless there was a valid reason. Look at all the other stuff he makes (but actually finishes unlike Jose!). I never thought that his move was only about the sunshine. It really was only mentioned in those 2 early episodes and never mentioned again. He cannot cross the lake due to producer restrictions. Sucks for him, but if he is getting at least 1 fish a day, he is not totally starving like some of the others.
  15. Whoa, I totally have those two confused then! lol. I need to pay attention to the ladies more closely. I think it is because they have not shown Megan enough and I thought it was Callie when I looked up quickly from my computer. It also allows for the use of snow to melt in the sauna too, if a person cannot get down to the lake or if the lake is frozen over.
  16. Some of the guys on this show are very good looking (the ladies too of course). It will be interesting to me to see JRM as, I was a big fan of the Tudors, so he will always be Henry the VIII to me! lol
  17. Recently, I was so bummed when I checked Comcast OnDemand and found no Limitless to watch! Hrumpf. But luckily for me, I buy Netflix and Xfinity's (Comcast) new X1 platform puts Netflix on your TV. Ah, I am re-enjoying Limitless all over again-with no commericals. What a fun show this is. I love the actor who plays Brian so much. Such a fun, inventive show.
  18. Pretty sure that Callie was the leg shaver.
  19. Good point. I must have missed that or forgotten. That might make sense. His spelling is bad on there, so perhaps that is the reason (not judging, just found it humorous). It is like he is typing and hitting a adjacent keys at the same time.
  20. The one thing I noted is how close these guys are to each other compared to VI. Some are a mere 3 miles. If one walks 1.5 miles towards each other, they meet. That is fairly close. I can walk three miles easily. Perhaps Fowler can't go across because he might be too close to someone else? Maybe he will address that issue. It is more than obvious that he has the skills to make a boat. I suspect there is another reason that he cannot go far out in one. ETA: Zach (Fowler) states that he reads everything on the internet about the show. So, maybe he is reading our thread? If so, maybe we can get a little interview at the end of it all. I remember how Cooksdelight was going to interview Alan until that hit the shits, but anyway, maybe Zach would do it? And his wood water bottle is very cool.
  21. Thanks for that! That thread is all kinds of win. Fowler can't spell for shit, it is hilarious (although some people are just bad typers). He loved the Walking Dead up till last season, (I hear what he is saying there), and his first name is Zachary.
  22. I love a man that can weave a human sized basket! If my mom weren't ill right now (spine tumors), I would be pumping her, my step-father and brother for info on who knows anyone who knows Fowler and his cute family. My mom is a regionally known writer of Maine lore, so she has connections, and could probably find out for me, but like I said, she is ill, so I can't ask her to do something silly like that right now. I am certain though, that I know someone who knows him, even twice removed. Where he is from is about 30 minutes from my mom's. And my brother is a hunter, so he might know someone who knows him. Small world. It makes me proud that he is so innovative. He is representing Mainers really well.
  23. I never thought that Dan was "good looking". lol, especially his glee in trapping animals for their pelts, but I used to be an animal activist against all that stuff back when I was young, so I still have a knee jerk reaction to that stuff in general. Fowler is my Mitch of this season. I was smitten with Mitch from season one. Plus he is a ginger and from about a half-hour from where my mother lives, so I just adore him. I could picture Fowler carving those cute bunnies and selling them at the shops in Bar Harbor, Maine to the tourists as Christmas ornaments. I pictured a rustic tree with white lights and all nature of hand strung bunnies. He seems like a really nice person. I like Greg too, but I think he takes enormous chances, like his pile of wood that he created as a raft/boat.
  24. Did anyone think that the editing was setting up that Fowler would accidentally fall/trip into his boar trap and get punctured by his sharpened sticks? I sure did. I was worried for him regarding that and his carrying the heavy stone. Not sure why I felt that way though.
