Hello everyone! I arrived in Casablanca yesterday and have started my trip. The two connections were less than desirable, on that leg from Boston to Paris my BEHIND was sore near the end- I realized probably because I had a 5hrs layover before so that was a lot of time sitting. I wasn’t able to connect to wifi on any of my Delta flights (I wasn’t the only one) so my Mom was a bit worried because I didn’t see any of her messages until the middle of the night Chicago time. After everything she’s been through it’s understandable. Because I’m a dork I had to get pictures of the snacks at the oasis where we stopped for a break. Fun fact, coaches with toilets are NOT legal in Morocco yet. That’s not a problem but I’m glad he told us. In our group of about 25 I’m the only person around my age (aside from a son and his wife who are joining his parents) who’s not here as a travel agent previewing the trip to sell to their clients!(not so odd when you think about it, it’s off season) Everyone has been very nice, a few people know each other because they work for the same travel agency (and have traveled together before), but there’s a number of solo people, some BFFs, and the rest couples. I did HollaFly for my eSIM, I’ll report back on how I liked that at the end. So far sending pictures is difficult but the rest of it has been like it is in Chicago. More fun facts- I did the conversion and gas is about $4.90 a gallon, I bought 3liters of bottled water for $1 at the convenience store near the first hotel. My god daughter made $20 for an hour of cat enrichment yesterday. I know the cats had an amazing time.

Power Book IV: Force in the Media
Scarlett45 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Power Book IV: Force
According to MovieBot Force is filming Season 3 episode 1. Makes sense it would drop after Ghost season 4, so maybe end of this year beginning of next year. -
I think the FBI was just trying to fuck with Marvin. They knew Gerald killed himself due to the guilt, and his elder daughter had already been taken by CPS. I wondered who paid for his burial but wouldn’t take the elder daughter. That was a good thread from last season to show more of Marvin’s personal growth.

S01.E04: Your Nuts Roasting on an Open Fire
Scarlett45 replied to secnarf's topic in Fellow Travelers
Yes. I am assuming they lost one of their children in adulthood. I only saw the one daughter (and granddaughter) in the at home 80s scenes, and Hawk mentioned nursing his kids(plural) through childhood illness. Likely one of their children died (which is a horrid loss for any parent, no matter how or when). But the makeup people are not doing a good job aging any of them. Hawkins is supposed to be at LEAST 60 in 86. They look like my parents did in the 80s and my parents were in elementary school in 1953/4! Also- Hawk is so conceded. Why not get Tim cufflinks with his OWN fucking initials. Not yours!!!! -
That was me. I thought it was a good finale. The season started off slow, but I knew Kanaan wasn’t going to turn on his Mom no matter how pissed he was at her, and I knew Raq wasn’t going to turn in Marvin. Howard has too much blood on his hands for Burke and framing it as a suicide, so I wasn’t surprised he died. We never had a body for Unique but I was SHOCKED to see him again. I think he will have a good storyline next season. I always liked him with the rest of the cast, good chemistry.

Sounds like the divorce only enriched your life! He was lucky to be in your presence. No, you’re not wrong, you’re a human being with feelings like the rest of us. It’s hard when we don’t feel appreciated or recognized by people we love. But it’s a reflection on them not us!

@ChiCricket he is lucky to have you! Sorry you have to make another appointment. Happy Mardi Gras to everyone. We had King Cake AND Paczki at my house this weekend. 😃 Today wouldve been my godmother's 74th birthday. My Mom is sad, and shared some throwback memories on Facebook. I promised her I would take good care of Cosmo and I think I have kept my promise, I seem to have got him on a good course of meds for this arthritis, but I need to order the restock of the medicine sooner, it doesnt come as quickly as the other items from Chewy.

I know we are in a Droughtlander (I just checked, no release date for the second half of Season 7) but I paid the final payment for my trip back to Scotland this spring! I am doing a tour and will be seeing the Highlands and the Isle of Sky. I cannot wait to share with you all. Its going to be amazing.

I know I’m watching behind everyone (I appreciate being able to read your comments); but this episode showed me that one of the reasons (perhaps the biggest reason) Hawk marries Lucy (of course she is attractive and well connected, and he likes her), is because he deeply wanted to be Senator Smith’s son. As much he proclaims he doesn’t care, he wants to be loved and accepted for who he is. He feels so indebted to Smith this is a way to be “his” officially. We know his Mom is probably the only person who he’s 100% himself with. However she’s his Mom, he expects that (most people are loved unconditionally by their mothers I think).
-
Yes. If you were a man and wanted to advance in a career like politics a wife was necessary. Hawk is young, good looking, socially smooth- I think Senator Smith has genuine affection for him and wants the best, which in his mind includes marrying Lucy. The makeup team isn’t doing a good enough job in the 80s. Matt Bomer is deliciously handsome, but in his 60s needs to look like a well kept 60, not 45!! Tim looks a little scruffy not on deaths door. I felt terribly for Caroline. Did she even have a home to go back to??!! I also would’ve preferred if she and Mary had a discussion of what to do next, cut in with Tim’s letter. Tim’s letter itself didn’t bother me on a moral level (as he and Mary knew the score) but I didn’t like the idea of making Caroline the scapegoat.

I know Renée isn’t happy with her life right now, but she’s got way too much street sense to let some random babysit her kids. This isn’t going to end well. This new undercover cop is green as summer grass- even I know you don’t release pepper spray in an enclosed area!! Jackie, Jackie, Jackie. The show is recycling plots because I guess they don’t have any more creative energy on the last season.
-
It is, but like I predicted last season that we would have a flash forward. Im terrified for Renée. I don’t think Frankie would hurt his own son, but she and little Scarlett are in danger as long as he’s alive. That being said, I don’t know what she wants out of her life right now. She’s got it way better than when Frankie Jr was a baby and her boyfriend was locked up. She seemed to really like Ray and wants to be with him- so what’s the deal?

I saw this video this morning. Manny was a real one and Emma didn’t deserve her.

Mayfair Media: Your Media Thread

Well- it can only go up from here! -
He looks sweet to me! I know large dogs with dark colored coats are the last to be adopted, 😢. I love his brown markings and his floppy ears. My Mom came home from the hospital and rehab, and came upstairs to my house to keep moving and see Cosmo, but this little Lady loves to ride on her walker! I kept my Christmas decor up for my friend visiting from Taiwan, but Lady Reese was also happy to “help” take the tree down.

Hi Small Talk friends- I missed you guys too. Update on me and my life- my Mommy is HOME and on dialysis M/W/F. Her attitude is really good and she is moving pretty well all things considering. My sister was SO HAPPY to have her back, but I am sure you are not surprised that my tall toddler CUT UP, in the way only toddlers can, when she had to leave again the next day for dialysis. Now that she has seen her come back home, she calmed down a bit, but the first weekend back caring for both of them was rough. I am handling all of the logistics for care coverage while I am on vacation, M's much deserved raised, changing my sister's guardianship (I already have a court date!), and I am counting down the days until my Morocco trip, to have a solid week to think about no one besides myself. But now that all the logistics are underway, and I am emotionally processing that my little Mommy, my favorite being is being kept alive by a machine, all I asked of her was that she tell me directly and explicitly when she doesn't want dialysis any more (whenever that day comes) and we can schedule hospice. (Not thinking that is going to happen tomorrow, or next week- but given her age and other health complications this is likely a 3-5yrs situation). I saw her in the dialysis room while she was in rehab post the hospital, and truthfully my first thought was for my little sister, "I am so glad P cannot see this, and she will never know.", knowing that it was HER blood going through a device that looked like an ancient computer, it me like a ton of bricks. But I did miss you guys, you are on my "In Case of Incapacitation or Death" document for someone to log on and let you know I am gone!

I can see why Erin thinks Michael is handsome. Of course attractiveness is subjective, but I see it. However being handsome doesn’t negate all the other complications in this relationship. Just the way he spoke to her on the phone, telling her not to come if she hung up (in episode one)- was a HUGE red flag. He’s still in prison and speaking to you this way? He has no impulse control. I agree. The idea of being with Svea seems like a fairytale to Joseph, which I get. She is beautiful and sweet, educated, seems to have her life together (shallow bus I think Joseph is nice looking as well)- but he doesn’t need a fairytale right now, he needs stability and to get his life in order.

Handcuffed to Their Hearts: The Characters Thread
Scarlett45 replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Prison Brides
I want her to go home too. Michael has nothing to offer her and she had a great life at home- her Mom, her son, her business. I just can’t believe this guy is worth leaving all of that behind. I don’t want it to ever come off that people with a criminal past can’t change or are unworthy of love etc (which isn’t true, humans are humans) but before you pack up your life and leave all your loved ones behind, make sure the person has it together and is worth it! It would be a very different thing if Michael had been out for a while, they met socially and he told her about his past, and they decided to date. -
Thoughts from the episode- The woman I’m least worried about is Svea. I don’t trust Joseph, but she’s going home and it’s going to take a while for the paper work to be completed for him to move to Germany (if that works out). If the relationship falls a part her life is still in order. But I really don’t trust Michael. He’s been so rude to Erin, and thinking about a BABY?!!!!!!! This is a man who’s spent most of his adult life in prison. How is he equipped to financially or emotionally parent anyone? Playing with a baby cousin or nephew/niece a cookout is a different thing. For the record I think it’s good that Michael’s family was there to celebrate his coming home. Social support is needed. It’s clear he has people who love him (he said he had three siblings, to me they all looked to be present). Curtis and Emma, Curtis’ mom was embracing the DRAMATIC caterpillar eyelashes that I’m sure we will be roasting in 10yrs. It also looks so HARSH with a bare face, those types of lashes are for the stage and a full face of makeup (drag inspired). Emma (like Svea) is keeping her job/life in her home country, but Emma seems to be more delusional than Svea is about the future of their relationship. The new couple we met- Jessica and Craig. Craig (like Joseph) is a nice looking man. Outside of the context of being in prison I would understand why Jessica would be interested. He also seems to have a calm peaceful energy I didn’t expect from someone in his situation. Craig made me very sad when he said he had been in and out of correctional facilities since he was TWELVE. It seems the work release program has been really beneficial for him- he’s been able to save money, have a little bit of freedom, reintegrate into society; but my theme is the same. If Jessica was just interested in dating him now and seeing where it goes, okay. But expecting him to “step up” and “help her”- Craig has never run his OWN life. He’s been in correctional facilities his entire adult life. He’s not going to be capable of helping you right now. He isn’t ready to be anyone’s partner until he’s more stable himself.

Svea isn’t going to be living there. She’s going home and the plan is for Joseph to join her in Germany on a spousal visa (or a fiancé). He’s just going to be staying with his cousin until that happens. But truthfully- I think Joseph’s cousin could’ve done a better job. It looks like a storage unit for your off season clothes and holiday items, not a place for anyone to live in. Is it even insulated??!! I am worried for Erin. No shame in cutting your losses and going home. Don’t live in your mistakes! Her Mom would likely pay for her ticket back if she didn’t have any money. But she WANTS this guy for some reason.

The Slatons in the Media: Anything for a Dollar
Scarlett45 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 1,000-LB Sisters
Tammy had lived with everyone one of her siblings before Amy, but had been put out due to her petulance and not following house rules. I do believe they were involved in each other’s lives, but Tammy was a LOT to deal with, and yes the TLC pay check made these outings happen. Also all the other siblings have been raising kids of their own up until recently (Amanda’s kids are the youngest and are teens now). They had said the first vacation they ever went on all together was Gatlinburg (spelling) in Season 3. However now that Tammy is taking care of herself and losing weight, her personal relationships seem to be improving. She’s much more even tempered and pleasant to be around. -
Based on what I have seen, I think Amy needs to exercise a little more emotional maturity, as well seek treatment for her mental health so that she can be as fit as she can be as a mother. I agree with Amanda- we understand she is sad and upset, but she’s their mother, she needs to step up. And if she’s too sick to step up, she needs to work on getting better so she can be well enough to parent them. She doesn’t know how lucky she is to have so much FREE caregiver support in her siblings. I do think she loves them and has affection for them, I think she WANTS to be a good mother (which is the first step, if she didn’t give a fuck then everything I’m saying would be futile), but it’s time to grow up Amy. You and your emotions aren’t the number one priority right now. Yes you’re a human being and you still have needs, but the needs of the boys come BEFORE your wants. Period. That’s being a good parent.
