  1. Really? I don’t see how they will wrap all this story up in one episode. I guess we will have a cliffhanger. The scenes with the kidnappers in the van dragged a bit for me. That might be because the Sons of Albion are such dummies. How do they not have any wipes or paper towels in that van? Oh yeah, because they are idiots who don’t prepare for anything.
  2. And the Capital Center was only about a mile of where the NFL team the Washington Commanders (formerly the Redskins) currently play! DC is a small city area-wise so Landover has served as the location for many Washington sports teams. I am a little surprised the show didn’t just say the All-Star game was in DC because it is more recognizable for the viewers. It’s funny what Winning Time is accurate about and what it makes up. Was Dr. J wearing a deerstalker hat when he met Magic?
  3. I wonder if I missed part of episode because I don’t remember everything you are describing. It’s very possible—we had some internet issues during two of the episodes so I restarted and fast forwarded to where I thought it left off.
  4. I didn’t really like it. It’s not very balanced. I think it shows Magic in a very favorable way, and ignores some of the less flattering things he’s done. For example, according to Cookie, Magic had a hard time accepting that EJ is gay, but the documentary made it seem like their relationship has always been great. Magic has done a lot of wonderful things on the court and off, so I understand showing all those things. However, he isn’t perfect and the documentary either does not mention or glosses over his flaws.
  5. I thought about that too, but the AA woman has a very different body than Cassie. She would not have looked like that in her underwear like the woman in the Berlin hotel. Still, she is up to something pumping the brother for information.
  6. I wonder if that is because of COVID? With multiple people in the room, including the unseen camera guy, it seems reasonable to want as much air flow in the room as possible. I am assuming her clinic is not open to regular patients when they are filming so having the door open is not a big deal in that case—except for the lady who didn’t wear the gown earlier this season. I really wish we had gotten some resolution with that guy’s knee.
  7. Moobs are probably more historically accurate though. I think I may rewatch episode 1 just because of this scar. The scar is more interesting than some of the characters.
  8. The hair and mustache do a good job of covering up facial differences. I thought none of the actors looked like the players and the I looked at old pictures and realized how different the players looked earlier in their careers. I did not start watching until the late 80s so I have very different mental images of Magic and Kareem.
  9. Maybe it’s my imagination, but it looks like that scar has been healing and gets more faint with every episode. Wasn’t he fencing in the first episode? Maybe he got it then.
  10. If Nike had signed Magic, he would not have made that Converse commercial with Larry Bird that began their friendship. Plus, Nike might not have signed Jordan and we would not have Air Jordans.
  11. Was the beheaded guy the MI-5 agent? I thought it was the other guy until he apparently went crazy with the axe. I hate waiting a week to find out what happened!
  12. I love this show, and am sad to see a lack of posts about it. Hopefully people will start watching. I rewatched them first part of the episode and Cartwright was told white tee blue shirt by Spider so it was not his fault. I would have thought it was not a big deal since it was a training exercise. That did not seem to matter as he still ended up in Slough House. Maybe because he didn’t stand down when told.
  13. I hope the part was made up where Magic asked his girlfriend’s father to break up with her for him. That’s even worse than breaking up via text message. I hope Paul Westhead quoting Shakespeare to the press was true. That was hilarious and I’m sure the last thing they expected to hear. I know Westhead really did like to quote Shakespeare.
  14. It seemed like the surgery was taking longer than expected so maybe that’s why he ended up needing to pee. It sounded like Dr. Umar (sorry if I am spelling wrong) realized he couldn’t close the wound the way he wanted so he had to try another technique. Dr. Lee gave us an explanation of skin grafts, and she said they are time consuming to do. I can’t believe they ended the show with the guy needing to pee. What a cliffhanger. I do like Dr. Lee’s simplified explanations of medical stuff and I would prefer more of that to all the patients’ backstories. They really don’t need to tell us how miserable those giant lipomas and cysts are making their lives. It is pretty obvious if you have big lumps on the back of your head it is going to cause great discomfort doing everyday things will make you feel self-conscious. You don’t need to be a doctor to realize someone with severe rhinophyma is going to have trouble breathing. These people have my sympathy and belief they need help as soon as I see them.
  15. I am often skeptical that we are getting the whole story when people on the show say stuff like that. I don’t think they are lying, but memory is imperfect. Pilar cysts are benign so it could see a doctor saying it’s nothing to worry about because they aren’t cancerous. Did Angela ask her doctor if they were possibly cancerous and that was the doctors response? Did Angela ask the doctor about them years ago when they were smaller? Did Angela ask the doctor at the end of her appointment for something else? Did Angela say anything in response like “These bumps are making me feel very self conscious and I don’t even want to be around my family because of them?” I also wonder if people on the show have been told previously their insurance will not cover removal of stuff like this and that gets translated to “No one would help me” either in their minds or for the show’s narrative so it is more dramatic when Dr. Lee says she can remove the bump.
  16. I loved Holly’s face when she read Hef’s description of the ideal Playmate and tossed it on the table. That part about “well washed with soap and water” was so weird.
  17. I think that is exercise equipment. I have seen something like that in a Pilates studio.
  18. I appreciate why Ted finds this confusing. American football rules can be confusing too, but it’s what he grew up with. I liked the parallels between Keeley and Nate’s professional journeys. Keeley becomes besties with her mentor and leaves on good terms while Nate burns bridges. I will reserve judgment on whether Nate deserves to be redeemed until next season.
  19. I didn’t watch GND when the Shannon twins were on, but I assumed their relationship with Hefner was fake and all for the show. In part this is because I think a lot of reality TV is fake, but also because the idea of having sex with sisters at the same time is so gross I didn’t think he would actually do that. I was disgusted by the whole idea, and I transferred my feelings to the twins, assuming they agree to pretend to this fake relationship for the show. Watch them last night, I was able to separate my feelings about them and the situation. I felt terrible for them because I understood how financially desperate they were and how they were “groomed” and preyed upon. I probably wouldn’t like these women in real life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel compassion for them. Like most predators, Hefner had an instinct for finding vulnerable women and exploiting them. Looking back, I can’t believe that he got away with all of this during GND. The Shannon twins were being served alcohol illegally all while many people were witnessing it during filming. That was the least of the bad things done to them, but it was probably the most well documented and could have been used for a court case.
  20. Is anyone else afraid to use the toilet now because an alien baby might be hiding in it?
  21. I don’t think Bertha got lucky. I think she knew the power of both a mother’s love and the stubbornness of a teenage girl who wants to go to her friend’s party.
  22. I wish we had more ball and no fake French chef story tonight. Oscar does not know how to flirt with women. He sounded creepy insisting Gladys dance with him after she told him she needed to change. I loved that she told him she had enough of being told what to do. I think she is too clever to be fooled by him. As the only single, heterosexual (we assume), unrelated male left, Larry seems destined to end up with Marion. Maybe she will be more interesting with him next season.
  23. What is a Sanctuary District? I watched DS9, but it has been msny years, and I don’t think I have seen every episode. Loved it when the little girl asked Seven if she was a superhero, and Seven played along. I predict Jurati’s partial assimilation will be an unexpected problem later in the season. My random guess for the Watcher is Dr. Pulaski. Picard would just toss up his hands and go home if he saw her.
  24. Loved the drag queen wearing a Dr. Pimple Popper tank top. I think Dr. Lee has a new superfan. I thought Devon said she got a chemical peel and it didn’t help. She had some strange ideas about how to improve her skin. I understand she was desperate, but a pumice stone on your face is a terrible idea. Ouch.
  25. That was the ugliest dress I’ve seen on the show, and the colors were particularly unflattering on Marian. I’m sure it was accurate for the time period, but there are so many other dresses on the show that are not hideous I don’t know why that one needed to be on it. Maybe it’s leading to a big reveal that Marian is colorblind? I thought the scene with Agnes and Peggy discussing Peggy’s child was one of the show’s best moments. Losing children was an experience very common for all women of that period regardless of race or financial status.a rich White woman like Agnes would have better access to medical care, but it often did not make a difference in saving the baby. Agnes’s terse comments were true to her character—she would not want to say too much because the emotion would overwhelm her.
