  1. Sure! Pulling up my chair right now. I am basking in the warm and fuzzy feelings on this episode. The canon forever folk should be a little less hostile this week as we see the beginnings of TOS with the formation of Kirk, Uhura, and Spock. I liked the story of the week and I will admit to catching on to the deuterium aliens attempting to "communicate" with Uhura about their pressing issues faster than she did. If you are the only one hearing them, they were trying to talk to you! Anyway, I felt the emotional beats in between the story with Sam, Kirk, Uhura, La'an, Pelia, and Una was well done. Clearly something will happen to Sam that informs Kirk's continual Starfleet traumas, Uhura finally deals with the deaths of her family and Hemmer, Spock is trying to enjoy this brief dalliance with Chapel but he can't, La'an faces being the only one who had the knowledge of the temporal adventure with AlternateKirk that she can't really talk about, and Una resents Pelia for replacing her friend. Pike, Ortegas, and M'Benga got a few words in and that pretty much covers the whole crew. I love that Spock will forever hate Sam for being messy. I saw that Vulcan eye roll! Sibling rivalry is a bitch. Will we get to see the great George Kirk at least once? This looks like shades of the LaForge daughters grappling with their father's legacy and each other. Kirk seeing Spock and Chapel's chess game and commenting on it was a nice little throw back to his skills we saw before. I am truly enjoying what we are getting in this series.
  2. Actually, it was the "You have to kill me to prove I'm a Skrull." bit. All Sonya had to do in the very next scene was wound the guy severe enough to make him turn. And that guy whose arm Fury broke was right there listening to all of this. Why not expose Skrhodey to that dude at least?
  3. I'm glad that Varra/Priscilla wasn't taken out in her home. G'iah was right about waiting for the executioners, though. So was this the Skrull operatives Gravik sent, because none of them shifted to Skrull when dispatched? Speaking of Gravik, I feel he should have seen that mutiny would happen once he started killing his own people, especially G'iah and Pagon. Those were his lieutenants and were very well liked among the Skrulls. Didn't Beto see Gravik in his Super Skrull form before? I thought that it was nice to see that the other Shrull operatives become disillusioned with their General, but why would they attack him knowing that he is not the same as them? I loves Emilia Clarke, I really do, but G'iah is not sympathetic nor do I root for her. She has that snotty young adult attitude down pat and I didn't like how she spoke to Priscilla, knowing that she needed her to properly send Taylos off this mortal coil. Is G'iah able to use any Super Skrull powers? I guess we will see once G'iah and Gravik face off in the finale. Sonya Falsworth is my favorite. I did catch that she described her "species" when she hemmed up the Skrull scientists. If she is not human... I want more of her! Did I call Fury not calling in the supes? Since he was directly responsible for the Skrulls getting radical, of course he has to fix it. ETA: Less said about Raava/Rhodey... A beeeg hole for the scene in the hospital, but I will let it ride.
  4. I only clocked in to see my fave Priyanka be the Lip Sync Assassin. Yes, it was a bit messy, but what the hell was Kandy doing? Her facial expressions and lack of movement practically gave Priyanka the win! I guess she was trying to get out of deciding Jessica's fate, but the remaining girls wasn't going to fall on their swords. Heh.
  5. That's right. This is the journey from young Spock to TOS Spock! We just get to see the bumps and growth real time. Here's the thing; when were the Vulcans portrayed as super nice to humans? In the earlier Trek series, it seemed to me that the Vulcans merely tolerated humans until we started to catch up to them technology and knowledge wise. That snooty stuck up attitude probably covered a lot of bigotry towards humans. Vulcans aren't horrible people; they are just horrible towards humans, whom they view as their lessors.
  6. Damn, I was hoping for Rhodey to be the real deal. But, that means the President is NOT a Skrull. I wonder how they determined which world leader to replace? That I would like to know... and where's Rhodey?!? In all this fighting the Skrussians, no one noticed Skrhodey chilling in his car? These people don't call on him to be War Machine? I also didn't enjoy sacrificing Taylos for G'iah. I loved Taylos! I think this is the last we will see of Varra/Dr. Priscilla. She kept her word. Yeah. Even if we don't get the Avengers in this show, we are at least entitled to an explanation of why Skrulls are persona non grata other than that they tend to be a cancer to any other inhabitants of any planet they may want.
  7. Vulcan hijinks will never not be fascinating to me! This is the journey and I am happy to come along with Spock. Ethan Peck is awesome and I love his interation as Spock. I won't call him Speck anymore! He earned my respect in this episode. T'Pril... Why agree to have the dinner on the Enterprise if you were going to say such nasty things to your human hosts? At least Pike knows he can cook Vulcan food! I felt so bad for T'Pring to have such an overbearing mother. I can imagine the Vulcan equivalent to human eyerolls every time her mother spoke to her. I could almost say that T'Pril was trying to protect her daughter but the severe dislike of humans just overrode that sentiment. That said, Spock should have told T'Pring what was up with him so she could have stood up for him more. T'Pril really went at Spock's neck talking about Sarek. Speaking of which, Sarek should have been there as well, estrangement from his son or not. Sevet played the role of cowed husband and father well. I like Amanda. Only the love for Sarek and Spock kept her from verbally slicing T'Pril's neck. Amanda is far better than me because nobody would be talking greasy to me about mine in my face! I would have been like, "Keep your daughter!" with my messy Human self. I'm also glad that Christine realized that the Vulcan Science Academy was beneath her. So now she has time to dally with Spock, which should be fun until the inevitable end of their relationship...
  8. You want to know what the real gag is? Gravik is preparing for the Avengers to get into the fight and it is entirely possible that Fury will never call them in. We probably won't even see Carol...
  9. I don't think it is a matter of force; it is more a matter of survival. It is the trade of spycraft and being with Fury. Varra is still a Skrull undercover on Earth and the only place she could be herself was at home alone. When Fury pops back up, she has to play the part of Priscilla Fury because she never knows who is watching. This had to be a special gun probably made to take Gravik out, I'll bet.
  10. It was crazy letting Ciri go to the festival without a disguise, even though it would not have helped her. Ciri's magic is more destructive than most, why not have her learn how to level things without blowing the countryside to bits? I, too, am looking for Fringilla!
  11. Hopefully, this isn't the end of G'iah; she at least deserves to fully reconcile with Taylos. I admit, I love how Fury pronounces his name differently than everyone else. I'll bet that will come up later if a Skrull tries to impersonate Fury not knowing how he says Talos' name. Their interactions is what makes this show so awesome. So Varra/Priscilla was talking to "Rhodey"? I didn't even pick up on that! I'm glad, because usually the show tells everything!
  12. I tell you one thing, the Enterprise must be way bigger than she appears. I would love to have the captain's and/or officer's quarters to live in. I typically enjoy heartstring tugger episodes, and this was no exception. I know I would be freaked out to suddenly lose my memories. Ortegas was the highlight of this episode for me and I will probably go around saying "I am Erica Ortegas, and I fly this ship!" for a week or two. Spock having the brilliant idea of keeping the officer's information on the pads, yet being unable to read it due to Federation Standard not being his native written language. Brava. It was horrible that Zac was left behind, but he couldn't find a means to send communications outside the planet? His first inclination was to build a castle and hide within it? He was able to build weapons, though. Even if everyone couldn't be inside the castle, you could have given everyone a helmet, my guy.
  13. Maria and Talos specifically gave that Skrulls/radioactivity info to Fury, so I can assume that SHIELD or whatever they morphed into knew that as well. I'm a comic book head, and Maria has "died" quite a few times in the comics. I forget that most folks haven't read the source material for the MCU.
  14. This just takes me back to the young girl who was in love with Nitro and even joined the paid fan club! I'm sure I still have my American Gladiators magazines and possibly a VHS tape of Season two... Like I said, I was obsessed.
  15. That could be what La'an calls Una instead of her first name.
  16. AlternaKirk sacrificed himself to allow his brother to live in La'an's timeline. It was for the love of Sam Kirk, who died in AKirk's time.
  17. Pulling my chair up to the table as well. Thankfully, the temporal device doesn't strip you of whatever you wore or used in the other timeline. I'm going to pick up the book outling the Eugenics Wars, to see how close to canon they are going to be. Perhaps Khan uses that gun to escape the laboratory he grew up in...
  18. Daughter. Her name is Clover. She is a beauty! Time Travel Shenaniganery with La'an and James T. Kirk! Taking it for what it was, this episode was enjoyable. Knowing that La'an is feeling the weight of her heritage, someone at the Temporal Division decided to use her for the ultimate trip back in time. Why a different version of Kirk? She wouldn't have survived without his skills, honestly. He was even quicker on his feet than she was! Plus I am bothered by the fact that she didn't even try to find out what day it was; that would be the first thing I would determine if I was dropped out of my time. She gets points for at least knowing where they were... Pairing her with a Kirk who had never been on Earth with no Federation, fighting the Romulans and saying the hell with the Vulcans? I liked that! This episode was pretty much an ensemble piece with a focus on La'an. We did see everyone on the Enterprise; we even got to see Pelia in Vermont! Then we bring La'an face to face with her ancestor. I couldn't imagine actually seeing the relative that brought so much pain and angst to a whole world later on down the road. There was no epic love story with Kirk. That was an attraction that will never be. She had never even met the Kirk of her timeline! I am looking forward to the resolution of her story at the end of the series since she is never mentioned again going forward. Canon be a bitch sometimes...
  19. I think that Skrulls can recognize each other; that Russian painter/arms dealer recognized Talos in their fight. I think that Talos would recognize his daughter no matter what face she wore. I don't think Rhodey is a Skrull. He is clearly trying to make it look like he is against Fury for the eyes that are on him. He is doing a song and dance for TPTB while he figures out how to help Fury on the low. Yes, he would be annoyed that Fury let himself be seen by everybody in the world! I did like him and Fury collectively wanting to carpet bomb Slovakia. "If this heffa rolls her eyes at me one mo gain..." "Carpet bomb they ass!" Fury knows his wife is a Skrull. She is the one who introduced Gravik to him, right? That also explains why Fury is so determined to fix this situation himself; he has a vested interest in keeping this particular Skrull alive and unharmed. Sonya is awesome. So if she isn't a Skrull herself, she is certainly more than she seems to be. "That door was locked!" "Well now it isn't. What does that tell you about me and doors?" *chef's kiss* I did find Gravik's grudge to be petty, but it is totally relatable. His hero Fury goes poof while the Blip happened (Fuck you Thanos!) then when he comes back, he is changed. Rather than deal with the fallout, he goes off to find a home for them that doesn't materialize. We should get a Carol Danvers cameo to at least shed a little more light on why every species tends to NIMBY the Skrulls. Talos is still keeping some things close to his vest despite telling Fury that he called all of his people back to Earth, which understandably caused Fury to freak out.
  20. Huge co-sign. I love spycraft and this is the perfect vehicle to really get into it MCU style. There are a few nitpicks, of course: For as high tech as SHEILD is, how is it that you know Skrulls can handle radioactivity, hence making Russia their home base, yet you have no idea where at least 20 or more former nuclear power plants are? I get that you won't send humans there, but come on. Haven't created a drone that can withstand radioactivity yet? (It might have been yet another "Thanks and Fuck you, Thanos!" result of the Blip. I wish the MCU could have called it the Snap!) I love my Mother of Dragons, so Emilia Clarke is cool with me being Talos' daughter. I'm sure the real Everett Ross is still criss-crossing the country with Okoye... He wasn't shown in that warehouse where Gravik kept the other humans he kidnapped... I figured that the skrullRoss did something to tip that agent off to try to kill him, so he must not have had RealRoss' memories and thought patterns. Maria Hill has "died" so many times by now, so I will wait to see if this death sticks before screaming. In fact, I am going to presume that Fury is playing chess while we are all playing checkers. Everything is not as it seems...
  21. I LOOOOOOOOOOVVVED this episode. And it answered the question I had all along; who snitched on Una? Turns out she snitched on herself! So she couldn't straight up ask for asylum? Poor La'an thought she was the cause of her mentor's arrest! Neera is awesome. I'm glad Una was able to repair their friendship; I just wonder how was Una's parents were able to "blend in" at the non-Illyrian city? Did Illyrians also have racism in their culture? Spock is also awesome with the quips and the run-ins with people who worked with his parents. It seems like there is always someone who is six degrees from Spock!
  22. Sigh. I'm going to enjoy SNW for what it is and not endlessly compare it to Discovery or TOS. TOS was a product of its time; let's leave it there. Discovery is its own entity now, no longer connected to SNW. I'm not going to look for connective tissue for time travel shenanigans. Captain Burnham does not exist in SNW; that's it. My understanding of this show is we get to see the adventures of the Enterprise before Kirk becomes her captain. We know that Pike will meet with a horrific accident at the end of his 5 year tour. Spock was probably the hottest mess a Human/Vulcan hybrid could be before he bonds to Kirk and becomes the Spock we are more familiar with, so I am cool with him shedding a tear and going on rampages. He and Chapel aren't in a relationship now and may never actually be in one; they are basically pining for each other. Yes, M'Benga and Chapel could have been soldiers on the ground in a war with the Klingons before they went to Starfleet Medical. Yes, Khan's descendant can actually serve on the Enterprise. Yes, I cackled like a fiend at Speck's go to warp line. Is "Let's go!" taken? I want to see all those stories! Since we know how this will all end, I fully intend to jump on board and enjoy the ride.
  23. I love Michelle Yeoh and Daniel Wu. That's all.
