Nawl. Any man diligent enough to keep his head shaved would not have stubble. Rhaenys likes the chocolate and she had to touch because he looked like young Corlys. Plus we don't see any other Driftmark sailor with a shaved head. Male pattern baldness was probably not a thing there. Leanor had to shave his head to flee to Essos... -

As for why Aegon survives his fall when Rhaenys did not; I will surmise that Sunfyre shielded Aegon from most of the impact of the fall into the forest. Youth could also be attributed to the fact that niether of them died upon impact. Meleys died midair with Rhaenys on her back. Then Meleys fell back down into the castle at Rook's Rest and there would be no way for Rhaenys to survive that impact. I'm willing to bet that only Old Valyrian blood is needed to ride dragons. I didn't read Rhaenys' scene with Alyn that way. Remember, Corlys wants a male heir to Driftmark. Rhaenys tried, for the last time, to press Corlys to make his full blood granddaughter the heir to Driftmark. Failing in that, she merely wanted Alyn to know that she knew about him and his brother(s) and that she was okay with that. I'm not surprised that Corlys thought he was slick enough for his wife not to know about his bastards. Looking at Alyn and Corlys together in that scene, seeing that they strongly resembled each other (shout out to the casting of the Hulls!), and seeing that Alyn shaved his head only to hide his parentage wasn't as smooth of a deceit as they thought it would be. Rhaenys wasn't stupid; I'm sure she put 2+2 together really quickly once she learned of Alyn saving his father's life, which Corlys did keep from her. Seeing that she couldn't secure Driftmark for Rhaena, she probably made peace with that and in participating in a smuiside mission to help Rhaenyra gain the throne. I wonder if we will get to see Alyn and Addam's mother. Totally! Rhaenys been knew about Corlys' bastards; as opposed to Cersi killing most of Robert Baratheon's bastards, Rhaenys probably didn't concern herself with them until her children were gone. -

Damn. I'm pouring one out for my homie Rhaenys. She and Meleys were real ones to the end. I sometimes hate being Unsullied, because I was hoping for Rhaenys to take Aegon and Sunfire out of the picture. The King should have stayed in the Red Keep, but I knew his ego and insecurities would make him join the battle. Is Aegon dead, though? Is he the one who earned the moniker "Aegon the Unworthy"? I wonder if Corlys knew that the last time he'd have his loving wife, even knowing that she knew about his bastards? I hope he told he loved her. He and Baela are going to freak out... Gwaine Hightower appears to be over this war and the dragons. He should have known that Crispy (sadly escaping the dragonfire) would have Aemond and Vhagar skulking about to even the score. That's a brilliant idea, honestly. Crispy didn't account for Aegon being stupid enough to enter the fray with no battle experience and no real experience in dragon control. So Daemon thought that he and Rhaenys could take out Vhagar? Meleys managed to wound the oldster, but I think Vhagar's will to kill is way deeper. So Alicent laid with Crispy enough times to get pregnant? And allowed Larys to see the potion? Girl. I will give her a few points for laying Aegon low in his chambers. Hell, does he know how to read? His High Valyrian seemed a bit shaky as well with his duel with Aemond. Of course Aemond was going to get him back for that scene in the Brothel. He's taking this Kinslayer thing to the head; I'm surprisingly not mad at Aemond for that. -

The world building is so delicious to me. While folks may live and die for ACTION, I live for the story unfolding. Poor Rhaenyra! I like that Rhaenys is her undercover Hand and can give more sensible counsel than the men sitting around waiting with bated breath for war. Aegon... It's a shame that he just surrenders to his basest level and that baiting Aemond into more kinslayage will totally bite him in the ass later. Corlys, as cool as he is, is as deeply in the misogyny soup as the other men. I can see him making his bastard sons legitimate before making Rhaena the rightful heir to Driftmark. For all of his "she don't know nothing 'bout ships OR dragons" talk, did he bother to teach his granddaughters anything about Driftmark? Rhaena is feeling useless and doesn't understand that Rhaenyra has given her many gifts to look after. Depending on how this story will end, she may yet be spared from the horrible fates of her families. I know everyone wanted Baela to turn Crispy into ashes, but she is the only one who follows instructions. Had that been Daemon... Speaking of Daemon, I am liking his adventures at Harrenhal. So Larys hasn't been home since he killed his father and brother? Tracks. And also Daemon expecting Harrenhal to be a stronghold in the Realm when in reality the Strongs have never really recovered from the torching of a dragon long ago really tickled me. Crispy is headed to the Riverlands, right? Wouldn't he know that Daemon beat him to Harrenhal? Rhaenyra took a foolish risk just to find out that Alicent Hightower is an idiot. -
Mysaria knew it was the Green twin because she just left the Black Twin in the castle. Unlike most folks, she pays attention. She went back to the castle to let Black Twin know his brother was there. I. Can't. Wait. Until Aegon learns that his new Hand is boffing his mother and WHEN he was doing that... If he doesn't proceed to cut Crispy's head off or burn him alive via Sunfyre, I will be severely disappointed.
-
I'm choosing to look at HotD as what actually happened to inspire the "Fire & Blood" books. If I am not mistaken, GRRM had said that the stories were written by unreliable narrators in an interview. So I look at this show being what actually happened as opposed to what was eventually written about in history. Folks are now screaming about how the HotD showrunners have changed what was read in the books. Alicent surely won't win Mother of the Year with the way she is rolling with the new Hand to the King... I was spoiled about her sexing Crispy again, so I ended the show on Otto leaving the castle.
-
Otto ain't shyt. It turned bad all the way around real fast, though. From forcing Helaena to parade her son's body about town, simply marveling at the sheer stupidity in the people surrounding him, and him losing his position again... It's hard being Team Green! Now there is a mention of the 4th Targaryen child; how was he sent away from the castle? Otto expecting these children to follow instructions may be folly yet. He was sick to find that his brilliant plans were laid waste almost instantly! I'm sad about the Cargyll twins. I had hoped that Arryk would simply join Team Black with his brother, because why would Crispy throw away a key person in the Kingsguard like that? I guess Erryk was really salty that his twin left him behind in King's Landing. Now we have 2 Hull brothers. Are they both Corlys' bastards? I can see why Alyn keeps a bald head; that white hair may have been a dead giveaway about his parentage. Speaking of bastards, since Aemond is cavorting in the brothels, does he have any white haired babies floating around? What happened to Aegon's bastards? Is Aegon going to force Helaena to have another heir? I'm glad Rhaenyra finally read Daemon for filth. She shouldn't be able to trust him because he is the ultimate wildcard. Didn't like the way he snubbed Baela though. This one won't be Father of the Year. Was that Moondancer or Seasmoke in the skies of Driftmark? I wonder if anybody thought to attempt to pair Seasmoke with Rhaena, since she does not have a dragon... I deliberately opened another tab on my computer once I saw the wheel fall in the ditch. I didn't want to see that poor baby's body fall into the street either. I'm not letting HotD hurt my feelings any more than necessary. Crispy failing upwards never ceases to amaze me. He's a pisspoor Kingsguard; now he will be an even worse Hand. I wonder if that was who Larys had in mind to be Aegon's Hand?

HOTD In The Media: News From The Citadel
Stardancer Supreme replied to Meredith Quill's topic in House Of The Dragon
Those puppies were clearly Team Black. -
From themarysue.com: Back in Season 1, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen originally proposed that her younger half-sister Helaena marry her son Jacaerys Velaryon. Joining the cousins would, in Rhaenyra’s thinking, help ensure that her father’s younger children did not feel left out and endangered when King Viserys died and she became Queen per his wishes. However, Helaena’s mother Alicent Hightower had rightful but treasonous doubts about Jacaerys’ true parentage and refused the match. Instead, in order to strengthen her own side in the upcoming battle for succession, Alicent fell back on an old Targaryen tradition and married Helaena to her older son Aegon.
-
The only one of Rhaenyra's children that would have been a slight concern would have been little Joffrey. Jace and Luke was to marry his daughters; Luke and Rhaena was to rule Driftmark. There's only Joffrey before Aegon the Younger and Viserys II. Daemon wouldn't have had any reason to beef about succession as King consort. He really just wants to be behind the throne doing wild shyt with Caraxes.
-
I was calling for Justice for Luke in general. I was not co-signing the death of poor Prince Jaehaerys. Having read "Fire & Blood", I was grateful that Blood & Cheese wasn't shown getting especially graphic with the "assignment"...
-
Ahh. House of Dragons is back! My chest hurt for Rhaenyra. Alicent and CC? Ugh. So hypocritical of them. Hopefully CC will be taken off the board soon. Alicent is still stuck on stupid, keeping Larys Strong around to eventually wreck her shop. She should realize that he probably knows about her and CC. Vhagar looks so beat up. I guess old age accounts for the holes in her wings. I wasn't expecting the ratcatchers to be able to take Aemond off the board so quickly, but poor Helaena. I'm surprised they let her walk away with her daughter, honestly. Still, it is a son for a son, just not the one Rhaenyra wanted dead. Damn it Daemon! Your Queen is going to be pissed at you... Glad to see Corlys up and about. I wonder who Alyn of Hull is to him... Bastard son, perhaps? Justice for Prince Lucerys! Team Black!

I would love to know what the notes Kovich took on that legal pad were...
-
That would actually change my estimation of Moll if this were actually the case. The way she just let go of L'ak after getting to the Progenitors tech and failing to secure it was real quick. I guess what most people didn't really understand about Star Trek is that each series is the story of the captain in charge. All this hollering about the supporting cast being featured more prominently was totally besides the point of the series; this was Michael's story from mutineer to Admiral. If folk have actually watched Star Trek from its inception, they wouldn't be so quick to scream "woke!" and other nonsense into the void. IDIC...
-
While I am sad that Discovery had to end 2 seasons short of their story, I am satisfied that this won't be the end of Admiral Burnham and the Discovery crew. I am thankful that Michael and Saru got their happy ending! No unnecessary deaths and angst to end Discovery's story. I'll go through the episode highlights: Moll got on my nerves so much! I didn't think that Michael should have been bested by her twice. Yes, I know Moll had to eff up in order to move the story along, but Michael should have been able to incapacitate her more easily. All of this rah rah and she still wasn't able to get L'ak back (which I liked). But now after all her issues, she will eventually get rescued by Kovich for Section 31 shenaniganery. What I did like is that even though Michael was the Chosen One to safeguard the Progenitors tech, she ultimately decided not to take on the responsibility of it's steward. Thinking she would have a God complex and rule over all Star Trek in the future was silly and I hope not to see thinkpieces about it... Watching Stamets deflate in her ready room after finding out that Starfleet wasn't going to keep the Progenitors tech will never not be funny. It was sweet that Adira had to bring their father up from his crash. This was an excellent full circle to Michael's story, even though I would like to see her journey with Book, their son (! So is he Captain Leto Booker or Captain Leto Burnham?), and doing all of that while becoming Admiral. Hopefully we will get glimpses of that journey in the Star Trek Academy show and the Section 31 movie (should still be a 10 episode series!!! There's plenty of story to tell, considering the amount of Discovery crew now working with Kovitch...). Kovich is Agent Daniels from Enterprise. Loved that gem drop. In his room, we saw several items from past Star Trek shows; Geordi's visor, Sisko's baseball, etc. What will be his memento from Discovery? So I guess the answer to my persistent question is that yes, Admiral Vance was the only Starfleet admiral in the 32nd century! I did drop a few thug tears for the Discovery Crew's final hugs with their Captain (Finally there is Bryce, Detmer and Owosekun!). So Zora's final Red Directive mission was to go to some far point in space and just... wait? Is this the connection to "Calypso"? Hopefully we won't wait for too long for that particular thread to be stitched into something. I am a lifelong Trekkie, and I can't wait to see whats next for Star Trek. Time to purchase all of the DVDs, Blu-Rays, and books! Let's Fly!
-
I wonder if the Progenitor's tech is a part of Kovich's white room? It would probably piss Michael off to find out Kovich started this red directive mission to get more toys for Section 31... I would have liked to see the female Primarch, but there was already too much going on in this episode.
-
The one thing I forgot: Book got a wonderful gift from the Librarian and maybe that will make him pause about this Moll fixation. If she is unable to resurrect L'ak, the Breen may still kill her. He now has the possibility to recreate a fixture of his homeworld somewhere else.
-
Huh. I didn't see Moll overthrowing Uncle Primarch on my Discovery Bingo card... Then again, this particular Primarch wasn't too bright anyway, with his putting an Erigah on his nephew for having a human girlfriend. I guess seeing him break sacred oaths for funsies turned the rest of his crew all the way off. I wonder how hard it was for David Ajala to not break character as Michael's mindscape guide. I know there are bloopers! Well, the Breen may have the clues and location, but Michael has the relevant information to go with the location. Now that Uncle Primarch is no more, Moll is only interested in getting L'ak back, so Discovery has a bit of an advantage once they put themselves back together. Rhys commanding the Discovery is hot.
-
I don't think Michael's idea was dumb; if anything, the Breen would have vaporized Starfleet HQ as soon as they noticed Discovery taking L'ak away. That may have been the plan in the future timeline Michael and Rayner saw. I'm sure our good captain saw her past flash before her eyes when Rayner spoke at the council meeting. That's why she decided to do something different this time. Who knew L'ak was going to overdose in an attempt to escape? If he was any smarter, he probably wouldn't have run off with Moll in the first place.
-
I may be alone in this, but I was relieved that L'ak is off the table. But Moll is making it hard to root for her in this. She has next to nothing but a poor connection to a now dead Breen royal. The escape plan was really haphazard, ending with L'ak basically killing himself. Eesh. Back to Uncle Primark; why would you have an important person with direct lineage to the emperor doing essentially security duty? Yes, L'ak didn't appear to be either bright or ambitious, but why not keep him close to you if you aspire to lead the Breen? This Primark could have avoided this whole Romeo and Juliet scenario! I love how Michael is always thinking around the box. Having to coax Rayner to revisit his trauma to figure the Breen out was somewhat genius. It shows that Michael is really good at bringing the best out of her officers. Happy to see Commander Nhan! My only quibble; how was Moll able to beat her in hand to hand combat? President T'Rina is a boss. She knew the Breen language! She is awesome. I was hollering for Book to forget Moll and work on the mission at hand. He can't make her be the family he lost, and this is the only annoying thing about him in this season. I did laugh a bit about Tilly attempting to leave Discovery to protect her cadets. What exactly could you do against Breen, Tilly?
-
Not really. I did like the way she explained this to Ohvahz. I suppose a simpler way would be to say, "The Gods sent me to help you and your people. I am no God. No one else has to die for rain." The main thing that bugs a bit is that no one remembers that the Prime Directive only applies to Starfleet. Other Alien species have no reason nor are they under any obligation to follow it. Discovery shouldn't be dinged for the PD if they were fixing some technology another alien left behind and letting the locals know how to maintain it when they leave. Also, could none of the other 4 towers be fixed? I tell you, Michael and Tilly went all in for the race. I would have pretended to take that salt cube and acted my ass off. And to have people that horribly parched run past water during the race AND carry water for the last leg just to be sacrificed to the gods? Brutal. I also figured that there had to be a sacrificial element to the race simply by the way Ravah's father acted when they wanted to participate. Did Ravah's mother die that way? I'm so glad that Rayner took Adira under his wing. I am also glad that he was the one who told them that the time bug wasn't their fault; they probably wouldn't have accepted that from anyone else on the crew. I really like Rayner and it sucks that we will only get 1 season with him.
-
This is the first time we the audience has ever seen a Breen without his helmet. We don't know what Breen women look like.
-
I know some "fans" are moaning about this being a "woo-woo bullshyt" episode (TM Reno). Honestly I was liking the slow down in the treasure hunt. The editing of this episode is the only thing I could really find fault with. That side story with Culber and Tilly should have gone into another episode; ideally with Stamets finally noticing something is off with his husband. I like the way Rayner is integrating with Discovery and her crew. Yes, Michael would have taken the time to study Rayner's race and she got to explain why she must take on the dangerous missions to her XO. So L'ak is Breen. He got an Erigah for cavorting with a lesser being. If that was going to happen, why didn't L'ak just kill his uncle? Unless the uncle did die... They should have made the reasoning for a Blood bounty a little clearer. I wonder if Michael and Book will get back together? I am glad that Moll shut down that "we's family!" trip Book was trying to place on her. Just out of curiosity, was Cleaveland Booker IV's death the reason he never got back to Moll and her mother? The ISS Enterprise. This is why I don't watch trailers and sneak peeks; I totally geeked out when I saw her! Is this the first Mirror episode where we don't run into any Mirror Counterparts?
