  1. I liked this iteration of Drag Race! I've watched enough of these shows to be able to tell which queens aren't ready for the DR pressure cooker. La Kahena was showing all of the signs. Nicky Doll is an excellent host!
  2. I'll be honest; I didn't think Curtis Stone was on the same level as Tsai, Samuelsson, Crenn, and Camera. But he definitely outclassed that chef with a mullet. Morimoto has been an Iron Chef the majority of his career; he seems much happier to not be on the cooking side of the kitchen! I can't stand Bobby Flay, and it is good to have a team of Iron Chefs who aren't beholden to FN.
  3. I loved it! It placed the dominoes neatly and I can't wait to see how they fall next season. Listen, I am as much of a continuity and canon purist as anyone here; I learned to cut that portion of my brain off and to enjoy what I was seeing. Consider that SNW is a prequel show to what we already know is going to happen; there won't be any wild diversions on the road to TOS and folks need to stop bitching about how this show chooses to flesh itself out and add diversity to the established story we have already seen. I'm certainly not going to listen to people who obviously never have seen an episode of Star Trek whine about how "woke" the shows are. They been 'woke' since the debut episode in 1966! I knew this was going to be a hot episode once I saw Admiral Pike. I was thinking, "Well, let's see what happens if Pike decides to save those children and himself from what was fated to happen..." SNW Kirk is cool, he can stay. I did like how Pike had to slap him down a few pegs after arguing about how to engage the Romulans. I had forgotten how Vulcans basically excised the Romulans out of their memories and history. Speck was, "I don't know dem!" when everyone looked him. Ortegas going on about the "pointy-eared elephant in the room" had me chuckling. Pike had me at telling Ortegas to stand down loudly and forcefully... Yep. That's why I never minded all the emphasis placed on Spock in this series. He is a very important piece of the timeline and his actions ripple through every Star Trek show and movie. I also thought it was cool to see Black Romulans. Despite what the racists try to do, Black people will be in the future. You can't stop us! *stepping off my soapbox* ETA: I forgot to talk about La'an and her growth, plus that tidbit about Una that played into the end of the episode! She looked healed and relaxed. Obviously, she found that girl's family. When Uhura noted that the Farragut was "La'an's ship", I assumed she was the captain. I'm so glad I managed to dodge the spoilers until I was able to watch the show.
  4. I never said that the Sparrows were great people; maybe Marcus, Sloan and Fei were the best of the lot, because Jayme, Ben, and Alphonso were jerks of the highest order and Christopher was a mystery. At the time they were with Pogo, that was probably the best they could be as a team.
  5. No. Lila supposedly got pregnant while they were in Hotel Obsidian. She wouldn't have been pregnant long enough for the baby to register as its own entity yet. Or she was lying yet again.
  6. In this timeline, the Sparrows were the ones who was supposed to go to Hotel Oblivion and defeat the Samurai guarding the portal. Pogo stalled those plans by giving the Sparrows the drugs to keep Reginald from enacting that mission. This Reginald bumps into the Umbrellas in 1963 and realizes that this group of children was a hot steaming mess and would probably ruin the original plan to resurrect his wife, Abigail. So when the Umbrellas ended up in this 2019 timeline, they upended Pogo's original plan to keep the Sparrows safe and alive. Once Klaus helped this Reginald regain his clarity, he was smart enough to cobble the 7 children together from both teams to get his wife back. As for Allison, I fear this new reality may not be her heaven. It will warp on her somehow because Ray and Claire probably aren't supposed to be in the same reality together. If we get a Season 4, it will be something to see the Umbrellas/Sparrows navigate the new reality without their powers.
  7. I would have liked to have known more about the Sparrows as well.
  8. Damn. Honestly I expected Klaus to be left behind. Reginald spent all that time to train him up to cheat death; Klaus would have been the one to defeat the Swordsman, if not delay him from killing the others. We never got the full origin story on Reginald Hargreeves the alien. Plus his wife was still on the moon in the area Luther couldn't access. Poor Sloane. So we have 2 Sparrows and 5 Umbrellas to face Oblivion. There's that magical number 7.
  9. The wedding was awesome! "I now pronounce you Married as Shyt!" I had to pause in order to cackle. Amazing that Hotel Obsidian/Oblivion is the only thing standing as the world burns. What the hell is on the Oblivion side that Reginald wants to kill?
  10. I wonder if Christopher was suffering from the doppelgänger effect, like Five was in the Commission bunker. Was Christopher another version of the Kugelblitz?
  11. Wow, the rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper. Damn, Lila! So you got Diego to care for a child that wasn't his or yours, for that matter. Now Diego is maimed and your nephew is dusted. Way to go. So Reginald was drugged to keep the Sparrows from going on a suicide mission. Wild. Klaus brought the asshole back to life! Good gravy, now Luther wants to be a Sparrow? Yikes. Fei is my favorite now. Everyone else (minor exception to Five) is too stupid for words. Did Allison leave Viktor behind to deliver Harlan to the Sparrows? Amazing how these siblings claim to care about each other yet do despicable things to each other.
  12. That is the most painful thing about the Umbrellas and the Sparrows. I guess Reginald couldn't get these children to sit down together and think critically about anything they do. And the smartest one of these groups is also the most broken. Allison is going to take Harlan right to the Sparrows, isn't she?
  13. Damn. Went from being happy about Harlan rescuing the Umbrellas to finding out that Harlan caused a major part of the Grandfather paradox. I guess he figured since his mother was dead, he'd reach out to kill the Umbrella mothers as well. Poor Viktor. Stanley! Poor Klaus. I do not feel sorry for the racists that Diego and Alison are about to wreck. Five just wanted to retire. Heh. So he actually created the Commission... Did he have to cut the tattoo out of the body, though? Gross! I have an early appointment tomorrow, so I'll have to finish the binge later.
  14. Harlan! That was an awesome reveal. Two more Sparrows bite the dust. Looks like Ben is the "Oh well. Collateral damage." type. So I guess Sloane will stay with the Umbrellas for now. I am curious how Christoper came to be, as well. So the Sparrows were drugging Reginald Hargreeves? Wild. So now Klaus, Fei, and Ben now know about the GP in the basement. I wonder how long it will take Klaus to tell his siblings about it? It was amusing that Lila and Five used their mutual hate for each other to get to the Commission. I'm also glad that Five gave up that school uniform. Fei is the Sparrow I like the most. Hopefully she will see that Ben will lead her straight to hell.
  15. And how did Victor pay for his haircut? I'll fanwank that Diego cut his own hair with one of his knives. I'm sure they are sharp enough. Luther's watch must have been vintage in order for them to stay in the Hotel Obsidian. I was wondering where the hell Five and Klaus got that car until I saw the hotel logo in it. The Umbrellas always have a way to separate from each other before the apocalypse is discovered. Why didn't Diego get that hitting Alphonso caused injury to himself? Alison figured that out in one hit. Now if Fei could dispatch her birds to see for her and there are cameras everywhere at Sparrow Academy, why hasn't anyone noticed Marcus going into the basement after meeting with Vanya? I forgot what Lila's power was! She can mimic any powers she sees. What can Stanley do? He proved to be as proficient with blades as his daddy. Luther is in love with another "sister". Too funny. Jayme's venom is still gross. Christopher can't sense the cosmic waves emanating from the basement into the city? These Sparrows might not be better than the Umbrellas when it comes to sussing things out.
  16. I'm still smiling. Welcome back UA! Okay, 5's briefcase was supposed to bring them back to their 2019 timeline, right? Since this is clearly a different timeline, why didn't 5 confirm exactly where they are? Alison should never have assumed that they were home and her daughter still exists. Wandering off before she is even clear when in time they are is a bad move. I'm loving these Sparrows, even asshole Ben. But the energy ball in the basement has taken Marcus out of the game! Is Grace even going to let the other Sparrows know that their #1 is gone? Yikes. Lila just dropping her son off with Diego who has no clue what is going on and saying "Here's your son!" Oh boy. This is going to be fun. At least he isn't an infant. What powers does he possess? Hopefully he can be an asset to the Umbrellas.
  17. Food Flight was the dead truck running; they weren't very good at selling their food and Grant's ego was so ridiculously big that it forced his teammates out of the truck altogether. The show should have shown us the nice/nasty interactions between them long before this! ESO finally got the clue and is outsourcing the pasta. It's cool to make your own pasta, but homie was taking too much time to prep for sales. How ridiculous that MCBWI cribbed Tyler's recipe to make their Mac & Cheese taste better. I like Sugar, but they can go. The Senoreatas are annoying as well. They shouldn't have felt threatened by ESO handing out samples in front of them. They are only getting the folks who aren't into plant based food. As a poster said above, anyone who eats chicken is not going for plant based food. Speaking of ESO, since when was Tyler Florence a fried chicken savant? I'm cool with SPAF winning this week. I like Gio, and their boxed meal looked really good! Food Flight goes home and not a moment too soon. They should have sent them home last week for making only $140 in sales. I want to know what happened! I would rather have seen their drama than Salsa Queen going rogue.
  18. Thank you, SNW, for the ugly cry I didn't know this episode would bring out. I lost my father recently and I was totally with M'Benga and Rukiya. The fairy tale come to life was so surprising and hella funny. I especially loved Uhura being the vengeful Queen! It gave us another insight into the crew; Pike the Boy Scout becoming a cowardly minion, La'an becoming a pampered princess, etc. That Christina Chong used her actual dog in this episode was a plus. I wonder what the dog showed up as in M'Benga's scan? It was cool that Hemmer was the only one able to counteract the illusion, yet still be a part of it. I'm sure the crew could have upped the camp of it all, but I liked what we got. That part about Una and Ortegas' characters "knowing each other well" was a bit surprising, since the characters didn't know each other in the book; was that Rukiya spilling some tea? I figured that the cure for Rukiya would come with a steep cost. I was okay in the decision he made, since she couldn't stay in the sickbay transporter buffer forever. Letting her go caused the waterworks for me; I cried even harder when she came back to reassure her father that she was okay. Now I want to know what happened to Debra M'Benga. That was probably the only way he could go in peace.
  19. Bay-bee! I was traveling and happened to get to my destination in time to watch this episode live. I was shocked to see SQ react that way to the challenge. Why did she think that she had to do the switch? Plus running off like that in a strange city, causing her husband to worry... I wanted Salsa Queen gone, but not like that! The meltdown was clearly going to happen, since her husband talked about how SQ wasn't sleeping and doing well in this competition. Time for the producers to consider psychiatric evaluations when casting for these types of shows. I didn't think that TGFTR would be a meat grinder like Survivor, Amazing Race, or RuPaul's Drag Race type shows are. I definitely want to know how Food flight flamed out! Seeing the other trucks work with new members was enlightening! I felt for poor Gio in the fray with the Amaweles sisters. I figured their truck would be utter chaos while putting out excellent food. Emma had an awesome experience with SPAF. I wonder if Grant got MCBWI to season the Mac & Cheese? I wonder how ESO could cut that prep down to better serve their food out of the truck? I think that basic organization would help a lot of these teams with their prep times.
  20. Almost forgot my favorite part: Pike telling Captain Angel to get out of his chair! Slight quibble: the mutiny going on in full progress behind Pike, Una, and Ortegas. I probably would have beamed them back to the ship first! But then, where was M'Benga, La'an, and the other officers in that melee? Heh.
  21. Huh. since Tyler is the face of TGFTR, I assumed he was an executive producer. I guess I can't complain to him! LOL!
  22. I just want Evanice to pull her hair back from her face. Aren't the Senoreatas hot in those prison jumpsuits? I sweat buckets just looking at them. MCBWI is still putting out unseasoned Mac and Cheese. That's why their food ends up in the trash; the toppings may be tasty, but once you eat that, there is unseasoned cheesy pasta underneath! I would be upset if my efforts went into the trash. The main part of my dislike with these trucks is that they are poor at proper preparation! You had 4 hours to prep whatever food you are selling. You should make sure that the preparation time is adequate enough to get yourselves together and start selling food. If a signature dish takes too long to prepare, you should be able to either alter it or whip up a dish that doesn't take an inordinate amount of time or numerous moving parts to complete! Also, if you are not offering a vegan/vegetarian option, you are leaving money on the table. SPAF was sitting around going we don't offer a vegan option; you can't go into your truck and see if you can't pivot to offering a vegan dish? Seeing that Lime Truck was there and slinging tacos, I would have offered another dish that wasn't tacos... How hard could that have been? Like I said before, ESO probably had the best food, but they don't belong with these trucks that are clearly beneath their level of cooking. The less said about Salsa Queen, the better. I'm still stuck on her changing her legal name to "Salsa Queen" and her histrionics every week is starting to get on my nerves. Clearly Tyler is steering this show away from delicious street food to selling subpar food with gimmicks.
  23. I was thoroughly entertained! I guess I am easy, because I loved it from Speck's spit take at T'Pring's reading material to the reveal of Sybok. I feel that SNW is taking "bad canon" and morphing it into good canon, as I read somewhere else. The bantering among the crew is awesome! Anson Mount is awesome, period. So this is where poor Nurse Chapel gets a bit of the Speck vapors and silently suffers through her unrequited feelings for the rest of the series? I also thought that this would be last we see of Gia Sandhu's excellent portrayal of T'Pring. To go from one appearance in TOS to a fully fleshed out one here in SNW, *chef's kiss*. I actually like T'Pring here! So are they going to "re-bond" only to split for good later? Should I be prepared to have my heart ripped out? I also liked Captain Angel's catsuit, so slinky!
  24. Here we are to another season finale! Hip Hopera Ball Everyone was dripping in Dolce & Gabanna! D&G even added to the ultimate prize with a social media campaign, a custom outfit, and 10K for each member of the winning House. That is awesome! There was no guest judge for the finale. House Performances: Yohji Yamamoto had the cleanest and best performance they ever had. I loved Mother Aoki's makeup! Yes, Divo has carried this House this season. Juicy Couture came out and slayed, as usual. I know I am the Lolita Stan and thought that she would be the star of this House, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I like all of the members of JC. We won't see the scores for the House performances until the end of the finale. All House Battles: Each House is to battle each other on the 5 Elements of Vogue! This is about to be lit! Catwalk: Mother Aoki Yamamoto vs. Father Day Day Juicy Couture Mother Aoki was cutting up, but Father Day Day took the win. Juicy Couture: 5 points Hands Performance: Luz Yamamoto vs. Kamiyah Juicy Couture Luz was good, but I found myself focused on Kamiyah. Kamiyah ate Luz up at the end! Juicy Coture: 5 points Duckwalk: Divo Yamamoto vs. Brooklyn Juicy Couture I didn't think that Brooklyn was a good choice for this element, given how she performed last Ball. Divo kept it classic and stayed in front of the judges the whole time. Dashaun even told Brooklyn to go back to her spot. Yohji Yamamoto: 5 points Floor Performance: Golden Yamamoto vs. Lolita Juicy Couture Golden Yamamoto was giving Sex Siren for sure. I was wondering if Leiomy would say something and she did! I did like the breakdowns she gave after every battle so that we know what to look for and what we were actually seeing. The score was tied, so both Houses gained 5 points Spins and Dips: Linda Yamamoto vs. DYU Juicy Couture Both of them were pretty nasty (in a good way!) and battled down until DYU fell out of his last dip. The score was tied, so both Houses gained 5 points Final Totals for the Win: House Yohji Yamamoto - House Performance: 35 points, House Battles: 15 points. Total score: 50 points House Juicy Couture - House Performance: 40 points, House Battles: 20 points. Total score: 60 points House Juicy Couture wins Season 3 of Legendary! Legendary did it right this season. House Juicy Couture was clean and concise from the first episode and they never faltered in the level of performance they gave us. The Juicys are superstars for sure. I'm hoping for another season and maybe tweak a few things, like no to the gag flags to save subpar Houses.
