  1. So agree with the too-convenient timing. I guess Le Milieu were gentleman after all, and Mycroft just had to ask them for last words in a very nice tone of voice. I do wonder if his plea to Mr. Twisted Lip (I am assuming that's who they meant in last week's title- don't know his name but we watched him kill his cousin) was not suppose to be a smarmy speech but actually a (hidden) plea to Mr. TL to back off so the Brits would not have to kill TL and his friends. If so, it was certainly too subtle for TL to catch- and he's the one kicking himself in the afterlife.
  2. Love your thinking and humor here. I have seen all those movies, although I am embarrassed to admit so for some of them. Maybe he is waiting for his seven secret children to climb over the Alps to join them (Sound of Music).
  3. I learned to cook by watching his shows as a child. I still follow many of his techniques and use the tools he recommended (Hot pan, hot oil, food won't stick). So tragic how his career and life ended (from my understanding, he was accused of things but never got a trial to prove his guilt or innocence). My library has all of his books and I still check them out. They read with the same gentle voice as his show did.
  4. Maybe Boden will steal the Casey/Dawson engagement ring and slip it on his baby mama's finger. Writers, hand me that pen!
  5. Except that they would not allow two consenting adults to continue their sexual relationship.
  6. So those nuns took a vow of celibacy, right? Does the Anglican church still have nuns? Also, are there Anglican monks that take a vow of celibacy? I grew up Catholic but I know the name of a hunky priest like that if he were Catholic- he would be a Father What-A-Waste.
  7. Hands down my favorite cooking shows are Luke's Vietnam and Great Mekong and Laura Calder's French Food at Home. Barefoot Contessa is a respectable third.
  8. Oh, that's the TV show that I want to watch!
  9. .That was a great episode and a favorite of mine as well. Another that didn't fit the form that I loved was when they were interviewed by a reporter. Standing out was when Radar thanked the nurses and when Father Mulcahy did that great speech about the surgeons warming their hands. "When the doctors cut into a patient, and it's cold, you know...the way it is now, today,... steam rises from the body... and the doctor will... (hesitates) ...will warm himself over the open wound. Could anyone look on that and not feel changed?"
  10. I can't get enough of this show but can you imagine coming to Zoe when you are terrified about a physical symptom you are experiencing? I'd rather be treated by Lucille Ball.
  11. There are real tears in my eyes- and we didn't even get our two baby quota! Nurse Patsy seems like a great addition. I am amazed that each sister and midwife they add is a distinct, unique character loveable in her own way. Instantly I felt like I knew and understood Patsy (which means I think Trixie's comment about being a little in love with her was a foreshadowing of something..). Are we supposed to remember her from the London? Do we already know her back story? So Sister Julienne and Jenny ended up being at the Mother House at the same time- I bet that was comforting for Jenny. Who are those extra nuns who come for the daily sing-a-long? Do they also live at Nonnatus House?
  12. Marcela's over-pronunciation is so offputting that I can not have this show on even to clean by. Something odd as well about how she talks about her son (it sounds like a marketing ploy and doesn't come off as natural). Your point about Giada and Arron is well taken- I hadn't noticed before you said anything. Does Mario do this as well?
  13. I wouldn't even think of watching Elementary with the closed captioning on. Added bonus, sometimes you read the lines even before JLM says them.
  14. I love all your deep thinking about this. I like to think a lot about these episodes too- mainly because I (for now) trust the writers and believe that the plots will hold up to analysis. Can you give me some examples of the ones you see that border on abuse? The ones I am thinking of as possibilities are changing the ringtone on her phone, opening up her mail, and (the one I couldn't not stand) entering her room and waking her up. Of course the deal-breaker for me was in the pilot when he destroyed her car. Did he ever pay her back? She hasn't seem to have a car since. And I don't think he will learn it here. I am concerned that in this episode and in a previous one Sherlock wondered if Mycroft has taken "liberties" with her. I am surprised that Watson couldn't figure out what that means- I think it means that Sherlock doesn't think that Mycroft would respect a woman's no to sexual advances. If that is the case, I get why Sherlock would not respect her boundaries when it comes to Mycroft. I didn't like the way that Ms. Hudson appeared trapped to do Mycroft bidding in the opening. All I am saying (but I am craving other's thoughts) is that I think it is asking a lot of Sherlock to start having good boundaries with Watson when the subject is Mycroft. There are so many reasons that he could have to not trust Mycroft and, honestly, employees who sleep with their boss's brothers should not expect their bosses to take it well. (I know we are suppose to think of Watson as a partner and not an employee but she draws a guarantee income and Sherlock could dismiss her at any time- sounds like an employee to me.) Right (if I am following). Sherlock will not learn from this to respect Watson's boundaries. He will wish he had micromanaged her more, which is probably how he felt about Irene (back to his discovery of the blood in her flat). I expect that this is what will trigger the (hopefully prevented in the nick of time) relapse. He will believe that he has no peers: he was right to trust his instincts and live by his own book, he should have never trusted anyone's but his own advice, when he tries to learn from others- the people he loves get hurt. Please know that I am not looking for debate- just a discourse with other fine mind and what (I hope) is a fine plot that can stand up to analysis. So right now this does not look like a story where we see Watson become even more independent valuable partner. I want Watson to be that. I have been frustrated with the characterization contrivances even since if was revealed that Watson has slept with Mycroft. I have gone back to 2:1 "Step Nine" and I really don't think they played it that way. The clothes (don't try to convince me that Watson wears the same thing after sex- she sometimes must make a clothes change in the tube as she leaves the house and then arrives somewhere in two different outfits) and the timeline do not work for me. Also, I cringed when Watson followed the French guys. She looked like someone there that I wanted to protect and I usually let TV characters make their own mistakes.
  15. My money is on Ms. Hudson finding the heroin. It was stashed in the books which she has rearrange twice (In Snow Angels and The Many Mouths of...), If Watson did move out, Ms. Hudson would make an interesting house mate for Sherlock, agree? I don't get the Italian candy. Why would Dr. Sutherland want to hoard and hide them.
  16. I was actually hoping for a scene where Sherlock consoles Tess (one addict consoling another). Tess is in the same situation that Sherlock was in last week- someone they loved started using again. I thought Sherlock could have given her some wise words to help prevent her from relapse. Then there would have been one minute in the episode where we would have seen the tender, unselfish side of Sherlock, instead of just the petulant child. My favorite scene still might be the one where he consoles the Russian sex slave. I was hoping for another one last night.
  17. Love your interpretation (A or B). Thanks to you I can finally let this go. Really, I appreciate the free therapy!
  18. I might enjoy rewatching the first season if I could ignore that fact that Tootie was on roller skates. That just look like old minstrel stuff to me- just this side of black face. I am assuming the politically correct police finally put an end to that but it is still too painful for me to watch again.
  19. Something like that... Shelagh just does not seem comfortable in her own skin. Laura Main (who plays Shelagh) has an incredible singing voice so they must be instructing her to talk that way. Chummy's husband needs to have a quiet word with Dr. Turner, let your wife spread her wings more- she should not have to ask you for a cigarette (I know, I have posted about this before but I can't let that go...)
  20. To my eyes, Ina has the most chemistry with gorgeous, talented gay men. Every other interaction can seem a little forced sometimes.
  21. Drake says "Hello Beautiful" one too many times to Della and she smacks him with a sexual harassment suit.
  22. Mary Cooper: By His Hand we are all Sheldon: fed Mary Cooper: Give us Lord our daily Sheldon: bread Mary Cooper: Please know that we are truly Sheldon: grateful Mary Cooper: For every cup and every Sheldon: plateful
  23. I have noticed that too. But I always serve my entree with a salad, two vegetables, and some fresh fruit for dessert. She does not tend to use a lot of side dishes so maybe that is why her portions are so huge. Also, if I were coming to her house I would probably starve myself all day so maybe her guests are always famished. Plus, I bet they sit at the table longer than we do and maybe after a while they are ready for seconds.
  24. Denis Leary is good in whatever he does. I actually liked him much more in Rescue Me than The Job. I also like his support of firefighters. I would prefer to just stay with JLM. If he has to be replaced (too sad to even imagine), I would choose Alan Rickman, Damien Lewis, Tim Roth, Jason Isaacs, or David Tennant. You see, I like me Sherlock English. However, Denis Leary should be given an opportunity to create his own show with an original character of his own choosing. I would sign up for that.
  25. Lilith and Fraser are about to crash a headmaster's Thanksgiving to convince him accept Frederick as a student. Lilith: "How do I look? I feel like the color has drained from my cheeks." in Bebe's great deadpan voice. Daphne has ditched her wedding to join Niles in the Winnebago: Niles: "Fasten your seat belt." Daphne: "Fasten your seat belt, Niles." It is all in the looks.
