S06.E05: Roadside Attractions
NewDigs replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Great Food Truck Race [V]
And now I remember a liege waffle being mentioned earlier. Here? I've seen so many waffles and waffle contests lately, it seems. Is the liege dough especially difficult and/or tricky to make? I kind of object to the fact that not only are the Wafflers not always doing the savory challenges as best they could but now it appears that the main ingredient of their main product is store-bought. Hmpf. -
Heidi Klum: Try Not to Hate Her for Being Beautiful
NewDigs replied to Rhondinella's topic in Project Runway
But, but... I feel like we have barely seen the designers design! As a poster in another thread mentioned, I want to see them select fabric and SEW! And have time to finish a hem. Or put in a sleeve. And sew something other than skivvies. -
I was thinking Alexander McQueen. I guess we need to see if Annabelle wets her knickers when she sees it. I actually kind of liked it, in someone else's house. But that ridiculous chrome loveseat thingy? No way. I think the Baroness tries too hard.

Groan. Glad to see Pho make it through. Their flavor and texture combinations almost always sound really good. And I think it would have been a more even competition w/ GD instead of the Wafflers. Mainly because of this, from xaxat: Didn't they buy their waffle batter pre-made? If I am remembering that correctly it speaks to their lack of actually, well, doing much of anything. They're more a dessert truck than a food truck. And I think they really kind of slouched off the whole build-a-roadside-attraction part of the challenge. Their oh-so awesome wholesomeosity sometimes seems to come across as smug. Or, holier than thou? But at the end of the day it's all about the benjamins and whoever Tyler et al deem worthy of participation. Sorry to see GD go. I'll take a burger, esp. one of theirs, over a waffle any day. -

Versace? How the mighty... I was thinking bad Mackie knock-off. -
I have been wondering how the judges handle judging the designs twice. While it might seem easy to determine who designed what during the anonymous runway show let's just assume that does not always happen. So the designs are judged first w/o designer identities attached. And I would guess favorites are selected. Then what purpose is served by the second runway when who did what is conclusively revealed? The judges sit there taking notes and making comments perhaps now knowing that their fave designer is the maker of their least favorite anonymous runway design. I guess I am especially curious about how they are able to disconnect from the individual designers once they know absolutely positively who designed what. I'm probably overthinking this but it seems, to me, an opportunity for shenanigans. Or something. So sorry for all who have struggled with the loss of a pet. My 12 yr. old kitty is slowing down and I am terrified. I have misted and cried and wept for Jake and his greyhound and all the pain here.

Maybe I'll have to take another look. I usually enjoy some good house porn but I didn't notice much of her house. I mainly remember lots of camera angles that showed lots of close-ups of decor and accessories. And the accessories seemed to be piled on top of accessories. I could barely see the furniture. And what I most noticed was HRH flitting about being Fun! and Quirky! and Look at Me! I'm Barefoot! I Do it All! Even though I'm Royal! And my family my family my family... Here, let me shove some food in your mouth! Okay! Everyone! Stop Eating! Out! All of You!

They sure pack a lot into each show! It's almost kind of difficult to create a timeline. They must shoot for many months. And I'm having a sometimes difficult time telling these women apart. Too many (bad) blondes and then Caroline's shitty extensions threw me. And there should be an edict against too many similarly named "ladies". I need to learn to look for ducklips as an identifier. Hope no one else does the lip plump, I'll be lost, like some seasons of RHoBH. Juliet was, imho, a complete ass about Thanksgiving but Marissa was out of line to exclude just one of the group. And now I want to do the RAH carol-sing! I got really really really tired hearing about how very special and important the Duchess and her family are. I'm with those who think she's trying too hard to be the quirky one. All I got out of her performance was that she was the annoying one. Blech.

She really is very needy. And demanding. Not a nice combination. Her resting face seems to be spoiled-stubborn-two-year-old.

S06.E04: High Steaks In Texas

I might have considered a good tip for the server. Who knows what horrors she might have saved you from? Good points re: Waffle Boys' lack of promo consideration. Lots of options beyond, Please, we're dying here...". This is the first week I did not want to order from Postcards. And, as another first, the burger the GD's made hit my virtual taste buds just right. Can't answer question about why the Wafflers' have such a high annoyance factor but they annoy me. -
S07.E00: 100th Episode Special
NewDigs replied to zoeysmom's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I could easily have this wrong but my understanding is that Andy has his own production company that Bravo houses (leases to Andy?) in their compound. Bravo purchases programs from Andy's company and Andy's company finances the production costs of his shows. So it would seem to me that Andy's company would be responsible for costs incurred for filming etc. Be it renting space for reunions or flying Alex to NYC so she could be a participant. Andy no longer works for Bravo.I wouldn't mind seeing the supreme awkwardness that was A&S but with this shiny new overbearing Betthhenny factor? I don't want to see them enough to suffer through the Bethy ShitShow to see them. Or really, anyone. -
Food Network and Cooking Channel: One is about food

You're right. Thanks for the correction. I must have confused her with Leah Remini, though Remini has denounced scientology. Heaton has also worked herself into a Twitter lather over the recent Planned Parenthood controversy. Will not watch. -
I can't quit the Inspector Gamache series, though I have been tempted. And have said I would. But I have the latest on my tablet. The Peter-Clara thing seemed contrived, the B&B guy's guilt or innocence was drawn out and seemed contrived. And the later mysteries surrounding the lodge? To me, contrived. It feels almost like Penny's publisher's contract did not allow her the time to best plot. That happens often but I will read the latest. I think I read Rule Against Murder as the title Murder Stone and at this point the series, imho, just keeps getting better. Enjoy! Wasn't crazy about Little Paris Bookshop but I think mainly because it skirts a bit too closely to magical realism for me. I could have done with about 100 fewer pages. But I'm glad I forgot that I had sworn off Kathy Reichs. Tempe in Afghanistan did nothing for me but Speaking in Bones was quite good. Tempe didn't have quite as many personal issues invading the story. Thanks Deanie87 for the Mons Kallentoft recommendation. I have been steaming through Nordic Noir and love finding new authors. Edit for really bad formatting.

Your poor sniskets! Didn't like Swapnil's and, on a shallow note, not crazy about his contacts. I get kind of a Children of the Corn vibe. There's something unreal about the color or something. He's a great talent and seems like a really nice guy. I liked Ashley's best. Buh bye Blakey. He must be really tiring to be around.

Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

That she is. They seem like an odd couple. I haven't watched many episodes of The Profit but he seems kinda' low key and nice. And she's not. At all. -

Ugh. No way.I don't "do" scientology. And over the years she has been a rather outspoken asshole. 2010 2012 -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

You're right. She said cooch. But I'm not sure that its intended use is any less distasteful than poontang. And the visual I get from "cooch hanging out" is more along the lines of the Brandi/Paris/Britney cooch-shots. I don't get, She wears short shorts. -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

Bolding mine I have a hard time even seeing her work well as the "Greek chorus". I don't think she's all that snarky. She seems more vulgar. Snark is smarter(?) than that, imho. She did get some good shots off but, to me, they were overshadowed by her vulgarity. I just tried to watch that Secrets show and wasn't probably 3 minutes in and Bethy mentioned how Dorinda had her poontang out, or something. Then called her a "broad" which can be a compliment but where did the poontang comment come from? Did I miss something? -

It's been said before but, she really needs to better think through these "Betthhennyisms". Though I have to agree with her observation of her own piggishness. George and Aviva completely turned me off this show. And, oddly, I gave it another chance because of Bethy. Oh well. Hard to believe Andy is so tone deaf regarding her. Maybe there is so much invested in her return that he's got to keep trying to make her likeable? -

That's the ticket! I'm sure our Bethy can turn the "packages" into a vulgarism. Whatnthehell did that People quip about Jill even mean? Something like, Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered and that's how it goes. Anyone? Buehller? -
S06.E03: Spicy Showdown in Santa Fe

I continue to have a hard time wrapping my head around savory waffles. And I would not spend that much to see if I liked them. Do they buy their let's-make-a-waffle stuff already made? Love Postcards but seriously cringed when they did not leave a note. Anticipated production interception or not. Maybe had they left a note they would not have been fined? Their soup and cornbread looked delish. Glad the Spice Girls are gone. Didn't a truck set up in a grocery store lot last season? I thought it was a crazy idea but I think they were actually praised for it? -
But, at the end of the day, if you do find yourself on the losing team you are competing against your team mates. And usually the strongest survive. It seems nonsensical but it is an oft used reality strategy. I think.

Wow. Really harsh. And really well written. And really funny. I didn't know he had such an empire. Ain't name recognition sumthin'? -
Bolding mine Or, in the back of her mind she was thinking, Cannon fodder. And she dressed it up with a face-saving lie. That might have been the worst "team" I have ever seen not work together. Why does no one challenge Candace? Felt bad for Ashley but her being selected last could be spun as Candace thinking that Ashley was more solid competition than she wanted. Take the weak, leave the strong. A stretch, I know. It was just such a turnaround from last week's love fest. I figured Candace would pick her first! Nice to finally see some semi-redemptive Blake qualities.
