  1. I agree with Andy at TheJeopardyFan that this FJ was the worst. It had two correct answers, something that NEVER should happen on this show. Are the writers asleep or too dense to know how to use a search engine? Answer: yes. Go to TJF to read the entire discussion, but here's the short take: “What is India?” should have also been accepted, as a book with the same title also deals with US-India relations." The Eagle & The Elephant is also a Raymond E. Vickery, Jr. book about the cooperation between the United States and India. Vickery, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, also served as a former US Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Trade Development under Clinton. Reviews of the book consider it to be very important for understanding how to do business in (or with) India. IMO Tyler's answer was correct; therefore, today was not an asterisk. End of story. The season really bites so far.
  2. I've been away from Dateline since dealing with all the murders and liars and cheaters and just generally horrible people on a tv show is too much after dealing with the same things IRL. But I watched the 711 Ranch episode because it was in Gunnison, Colorado, so at least the locale was interesting. Another high point for me was the cadaver dogs being tested in that area. I kept looking for friends from Colorado who do that with their dogs. I knew the body would be found by one of them since I am familiar with the work these dogs do. So, yeay for that. What I did not understand though, was why was the murdered man the one who would inherit the ranch? Was there a will? If Deb was the ranch owner, why didn't she just change the will so Stephanie was the sole beneficiary? That part went just way over my head. I also wonder who is running/owning the ranch now that everyone in the family is either dead or in prison. Dateline always leaves me with unanswered questions.
  3. That was my POM Wonderful run of the night. So cool that Campbell figured a way out of his predicament. And speaking of Kevin Bull, I hope he will compete this year. Does anyone know how many qualifiers are scheduled?
  4. Bootie! It was so fun to see him again. Then I remembered being the first ninja to run is never a good thing. Dougie Fresh made me cry. LOL at Matt saying about Kyle: "He's got some good hair." Wow to Tage having 12 siblings. Nine of them are adopted. But still ... yikes. It was good to see David The Godfather Campbell again. He rules. I was happy he made it up the Mega Wall. Looking forward to Moravsky next week. I hope he does well. It's kind of weird to see the old favorites disappear and new ones take over. I remember when Brett Steffensen and Kacy were the big deals.
  5. I got rivers, Nobel, Great Wall, the DD of Jackson and Oxford, the comma I do not use. Did Sarah say "What is" before her Sirius radio answer? I thought that's why AT was hesitating. My FJ answer was Anne Sullivan. Because who knew Montessori schools were named after a person. I mean, who besides every poster here except me.
  6. Yeah, no kidding. Although in my case you can change that to a stupid effing g**f game that as far as I know doesn't even HAVE a season.
  7. We have 25 players so far. Yeay! Latecomers can still get in, no worries. Just post your score. I like how @theartandsound posted answers, so here are mine. 14 SEPT Acropolis 0/1 15 SEPT Berry Gordy 1/2 16 SEPT Daniel Boone 2/3 17 SEPT Joan Miró 2/5 18 SEPT ... what's for dinner ... 2/5 I'm actually rather proud of a couple of those (wrong) answers.
  8. The Janet Jackson episode reminded me once again why I quit watching during this season. Nothing caused me to even crack a weak smile. The Pampers Thong commercial at the very end was the high point, hardly worth wading through an hour for though. And while I love Janet Jackson, her performance proved she has a dance group worthy of being on WOD, but singing ... not so much. They could have at least turned up the track so viewers could hear the song, if it was even being played. And what was up with this episode showcasing cast members who were no longer cast members. Disappointing.
  9. And then there's me, who had never heard of it anywhere. Ever.
  10. I really wish you would not do that. The contest isn't a "personal" or "judgemental" thing. If it were, I would have bailed from this entire Jeopardy site years ago. Remember last season where I didn't know one single FJ answer until I FINALLY got one answered on week 4, the 17th FJ clue/answer? I dare anyone to beat THAT record. And I challenge anyone to top my final score the for season, 52/183. Meanwhile, you had 32 more correct answers than I did! Plus everyone who plays is eligible to win real tangible prizes. Where else can THAT happen?
  11. Sarah Twilley won today, the only one who correctly said Coleridge for FJ. Joe came in second. Both he and Herman answered Byron. You can see the stats here at The Jeopardy Fan.
  12. I've already forgotten what Colin did. Except ... SHN LIM! He made Shin Lim appear, so I say Best Magic Act EVAH. Thinking about what some posters have said, what act is good enough to headline a Vegas show. I say not a single one of the singers. Why would I fly to Vegas and pay $100 to see some AGT singer whose name I can't even remember when I can just go to my local county fair and see Keith Urban for 10 bucks. Singers ... eh. Just a way for Simon to make (more) money.
  13. I thought of you and thought the exact same thing. Especially memorable was her reaction to your hot-dog meal. And I was hoping 2020 wouldn't get worse. Big fail.
  14. Well, except the answer was Pantheon, not Parthenon ...
  15. I agree with what Andy posted on TheJeopardyFan: "In my opinion, this was easily the worst ruling that the judges have made on the show in a great many seasons. To my ear, there is such an insignificant difference between “Barry” and “Berry” that the judges deserve to receive every single last complaint the show gets tonight on social media. Thankfully, this was immaterial to the outcome of the game and she won’t be returned, but still. Betsy should have received credit and this was 100% a terrible ruling by the judges." Therefore, I'm taking the power invested in me to say Betsy answered correctly, so no asterisk for this week.
  16. So far you are at the top of the leader board, so I say Good For You. (TM AT) Last season it took me until the fourth week to get my first FJ answer. This season I'm currently tied for second place already! Yeay me!
  17. week 1 • Sept. 14, 2020 — NO asterisk 1. Famous Buildings. This Rome building with a name from the Greek was described by Michaelangelo as coming from “angelic and not human design” 2. The Music Biz. In 2019, at a 60th anniversary event in Detroit, this producer announced his retirement saying he had “come full circle.” 3. 19th Century Americans. Obituaries called this man who died in 1820 a celebrated colonel, the first settler in Ky. & a man who delighted in perils & battle. 4. 20th Century Artists. “Los Tres Grandes” were Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros & him. 5. English Poets. An 1816 poem by him says, “That with music loud and long, I would build that dome in air, that sunny dome!”
  18. No Jeopardy here today for me. Golf instead, a "sport" I dislike almost as much as football. So, no bright spot in my day today.
  19. Two pluses in today's episode: Trebek got to say "genre," and Joe was wise to the Berry/Barry controversy and just wrote "Rivera" for FJ. Win win!
  20. I did too, I thought that was so funny. Well, light a match to my BFA degree. I said Miró for FJ. I did start with a Diego which switched to a Degas (I know, right!) then settled on Miró. At least he was born in the 19th century and was Hispanic. Not that those validate my wrong answer.
  21. <waves> Yes, I was in on that discussion. I need to stop caring. Your TSA-detained story reminds me of the Denver agent who was arrested for molestation. And the Canadian border guard who made sure to feel me up, twice, when I drove into Ontario. And again when I drove out. Gah. Happy Thursday. I guess. Meanwhile, no good deed goes unpunished!
  22. I just got an email selling text-to-speech software from some spammer named "Marry." I found that funny in so many ways.
  23. I'm sorry for your traumatic educational experience. Perhaps Nick Cannon was in your class, he hosts The Masked Sing-ger.
  24. I told you guys Celina would be toast once they dropped her "The cool kids were mean to me" backstory and switched it up to her being a soccer star. Bye Celina. I'm still okay with your clothes though, and I'm pretty cool. If TPTB would quit showing Cristina Rae's kid every two seconds, maybe she wouldn't be getting all those votes. He's been on my tv screen more than all the other acts combined. I've grown to hate that kid. Hope she loses, if only for exploiting a minor. Colin Cloud tells everyone to look ONLY at your pendulum, so both Heidi an Sofia give him a couple of direct glares each. Nice, ladies. Meanwhile ... SHIN LIM!!!!!!!!! Kodi Lee!! Yeay! I guess Colin did some magic things. But ... SHIN LIM! Some singer beat WAFFLE Crew. Bummer. I hope they make the transition over to WOD. Different network, different viewers maybe. Bello sisters beat Brett. I guess that gross endoscope joke and The Regurgitator throw up back didn't play for America. I still would like for Bello Nock to meet the Bello sisters. Dunkin' Save goes to a ... SINGER! Who woulda guessed. The only way Archie can win this is if the show forgets about his daughter that no one cares about and goes back to his being in prison for three-plus decades. Only that will even the playing field, since Cristina Rae's kid is getting his own show, to be aired before the finale. Even being wrongly imprisoned won't top adorable brat kid in America's eyes. I'm hoping for BAD Salsa to win, but since they won't, I'm rooting for Brandon Lee and his poetry slam routine. And yeah, good luck to me on that.
