Except Sam and Dean only found out which ingredients they needed when Donatello translated the tablet. The Men of Letters didn't have access to the tablet. How did they know what to use and where would they get arch angel grace?

If you need the Seal of Solomon, fruit from the tree of life, arch angel grace and the blood of a most holy man, how excatly did the hooded people open the tentacle dimension in the first place?

Honestly no. They haven't. I agree with what you said about the start of the season. So many loses piled on top of each other and his low self esteem and sense of guilt his metal state in Advanced Thanatology made sense. It made sense when he perked up when Cas came back. But depression that deep doesn't just go away even with the big win Dean got. It's why I thought the Kaia plot point was lazy writing to get from point A to point Z. As much as I didn't like it, it should have been dealt with. But 2 days in monster land, Dean's like 'meh we live here now. Then he's like "it will take time." now he's all we must go now. Even I can admit this is jarring. It feels like there was a bunch of scenes missing. Sam's mental state was the same way. I can see him not being as effected as Dean. He wasn't as close to Mary and Cas as Dean was. Everything Sam had faith in and even some stuff he didn't came true. So Sam's "its hopeless" attitude seemed so far out in left field as Dean's "mary can wait" attitude. As much as I liked the Scooby ep, its placement seems to interrupt something. Its like there was a bunch of scenes missing. Its just point A to point Z. It's the lack of communication from the writers. Like I said, I don't even know if they read each others scripts. I think Jensen tried, as Dean still seemed very much on edge in Scorpion and The Frog, like one more bad thing was going to send him over the edge but even Jensen can only do so much if the basic writing isnt' there. I could even buy that Dean was repressing his feelings for Sam, but the writers should have shown us some cracks in Dean's armor. They seem to have no attention to detail.

Maybe that was Dean's plan. He was trying to goad Sam into retaliating in an attempt to get him to remove that stick for his...nether regions.

I think next week will turn out to be mostly filler because I don't think Christian is in this ep. They probably need to separate Sam and Dean to save working days. I wonder if Mary and Jack decide to stay, to help the people of that world.

Dean was four years old when he was forced to grow up over night. If he wants to indulge his childish nature everyone once in awhile I say go for it. I love this playful side of Dean.

I thought it was hilarious. It's such a Dean thing to do. My guess is he wanted to see how long it would take Sam to notice.

They do film out of order. So its possible that whatever happens to Sam in ep 21 causes Dean to decide to say yes. They decide to take out Michael while they are in the AU world to prevent him from coming to their world. The only way to make that happen is Our World Michael. Its plausible the first half of the ep is him going to hell and the back half of the ep is apocalypse world. For me it is coming out of now where because in s11 the show went out of its way to make sure Michael wasn't an option. They told us multiple times he was useless. The introduction of Michael's sphere basically went no where and was mostly just an excuse for Sam to kill a yellow eyed demon. Dabb said that AU Michael wouldn't be interested in Dean and then said at first. There is no time left for set up a story for Michael to be disinterested in Dean and then suddenly become intrigued. If it is Michael, Jensen is playing, what reason are they going to use that Dean decides its their only resort? As a fan, I;ve been wanting to see Jensen play Michael for a long time, so I really don't care why he says yes, but from a story telling perspective its going from the introduction to the climax without the middle.

This is supposedly the site were Purgatory was filmed. Jensen did say that he gets to film with one of his favorite characters. My theory that Dean goes to purgatory to access the back door to hell (that Sam conveniently left open) so he can get access to hell and say yes to our Michael. One of the recurring characters could be Benny. This would fit with those silhouetted pictures that looked like they took place in a mine shaft.

I agree with this. Someone on my twitter timeline pointed out that the Scooby Gang was Deans' version of a Zanna. They gave him comfort and a sense of security he didn't have otherwise. It was a fantasy for him, where the bad guy was always caught, no one left and no one got hurt. I can see the appeal for him. The best thing about the episode is that fantasy wasn't ruined. He enjoyed his time in cartoon land, and he got to preserve their innocence.

It could be the nature of the dialogue. In the Amara scene it was a couple of quick hugs. Or maybe its Dean explaining why he feels the need to say yes. If he's talking about atoning and redemption, then I can see it getting very heavy.
