I agee with this. I'm also expecting a Rah Rah cheerleader speech from Sam about why Gabriel should help the cause.

My theory is that Jensen did it because he was bored and it gave him something do to on screen. He certainly had nothing else to do last season.

Im going by Jared's body language. Its not coming across as a guy gearing up for a marathon. Its coming across like he doesn't want to be there. I don't see Dean wearing a hair shirt, I see him trying to make the most of what they have. He's right, as far as they know Gabriel is their only hope of getting back to the AU. If they want to get back they have to convince him, and I understand Dean's sooner rather than later, because every day they wait Mary could be hurt or worse. Which is strange becasue its a complete 180 from his "eh we can wait it will take time.' Then there is Sam's 180 to 'its hopeless' the minute he found out they were alive. So even after Dean realized he made a mistake he was in marathon mode not, Sprint. I honestly have no idea what Dabb is doing with the characters this season. (I question whether he does either). Nothing about Sam and Dean is consistent.

I really don't see this as any different than Sam saying yes. He was putting the fate or the entire world at stake and taking a huge risk that he could overcome Lucifer when he failed twice against lesser opponents. If Dean says yes, I can see it being about saving people, so there might be a recklessness to it, but it would be done with the exact same motivation as Sam. I think Dean is stronger than the show likes to give him credit for, and I can see him fighting Michael every step of the way.

One of Dean's deaths is by a red-headed witch. What if Rowena kills Dean and Sam kills her because of it.

This could also help with the longevity of the storyline. As they could use it to get around not having the brother separated too long issue by having eps in Dean's head that are basically cases of the week. The book ends of the episodes could show us what real Sam is doing and how he's coping with Dean being gone. Then in the aftermath trying to leave Dean to sort out what is real and what isn't.

I think he's stoked at the opportunity to portray a new character and for the challenge it brings. He's said in the past that he really likes opportunities to stretch his acting muscles. I doubt either he or the writers have any clue what the storyline will be next season.

Usually he just says, sure I'll be back at some point. We know he missed NashCon for professional reasons, it could have been General Hospital though.

I feel the same way. I just want focus on the new character and not having to worry its going to be dropped or handed off to Sam.

Since Sam and Rowena talked about Lucifer's face, I figured there would eventually be an episode where they team up and try to take him out so this is very possible. Another theory is that since Heaven built the cage, if might be them powering the wards on it. So if Heaven shuts down it might release our Michael back into the world.

I agree. It became even more interesting when I found out he and Jensen worked together to try and keep the character consistent. I agree with this. Demon's Dean's goal wasn't trying to kill Sam. He just wanted to be left alone for an endless party. If Sam started dating another demon or got another dog, Demon Dean wouldn't have came near him. They could have used this to keep Dean as a demon a little longer, by having Demon Dean realized that Sam won't stop so he pretends to be cured and goes along with Sam. They could have had Dean struggling to control the demon, plus Dean living by the rules of a demon he'd have to avoid salt, and devils traps. Or since Dean's meatsuit was dead, so they could have had Sam not being able to complete the ritual because of this and Dean was a half human/half demon hybrid. The less he killed the more demon takes over. There were so many different ways to take the story without separating Sam and Dean, or making Dean go full on evil. This is why as much as I think Jensen would rock playing Death, I don't want it. Unless the show is going to completely buck the status quo, the storyline would be over before it started. If its a scenario like Michael refuses to leave, then it can be like the Gadreel storyline where he pops in and out. (I don't care if its a repeat since the show loves to repeat all of Dean's storylines.

Unless he wasn't really talking about his role specifically. Jensen is very complementary of Jared as Lucifer, maybe he meant he's have big shoes to fill by doing an equally good job as Michael.

There is also the Dean steps up spoiler. That fits better with Michael. I was hoping that it was about Dean doing something to save the world and not just about Sam. If Dean becomes death, I can only seeing it being about Sam somehow. Like Sam dies but death agrees to let him live if Dean takes over but he can't have any of his memories and he can't see Sam. It wouldn't surprise me if they gave Michael to Sam, given that Jared said he got chills and gets to speak words he's wanted to speak for years That kind of storyline would be over by the end of the first episode. Demon Dean, Purgatory, and Deans' hell time is preventing me from fully getting excited.

I don't think we really know anything about Michael. AU or Original flavor. Plus, if its Cage Michael he's supposed to be crazy so things he does, like dressing like a man from the 1920s might not seem strange to him. Maybe that's how the last person he interacted with dressed. AW Michael was so underused he's a complete blank slate. Plus, with all the references and church stuff, I think Michael is going to be a part of the finale. Since the character is not supposed to be Dean, wouldn't him becoming death just be another version of Dean?

I keep coming back to Jensen's words. I think if I apply the principle of Occam's Razor Michael or Death make the most sense.

I remember this. Plus, in the sides they referred to Dean by a different name. So reading them, we'd see someone named Guy speaking the words and everyone was like "I bet Guy is Dean." I think Michael would be a bold choice to both those spoiled and unspoiled because it would require Dean to say yes to possession. That would be something completely unexpected for his character given how big a champion he is of Free Will

Only Jensen's character seems to be wearing the period clothing so I'm thinking time travel isn't involved. Whoever he is probably just likes to wear that style or that was the style the last time he was on Earth. Jensen also said that Dean steps up, and that it was going to be big, and in the NashCon gold panel when he said they were going to explore something that was a long time coming, he repeated long time coming and really emphasized the word long. I don't see it being Henry, Benny, Crowley or Cain based on those remarks. Death could fit but his death was only a couple of years but as I mentioned with how Jensen really put the emphasis on "long" it feels like he meant something longer than a couple of years that he's been waiting. If it is Death it could be Death from the AU world. Maybe he comes to our world to stop Michael and/or Jack. Michael seems to be the person that fits. Apparently that tweet from Kevin Parks of the Angel in the stained glass, the words on the band around his middle is the Biblical translation for Michael (I have no idea if true, I saw someone tweet it.). It does seem like there is some kind of battle in the church.

Poor Gabriel. Sam moved on quick.
