The most shocking thing to me in that article was the description of HGTV as "a cable channel devoted to all things home and garden". Ha! Maybe once upon a time, but no more!

Even without the electro-phobia, Chuck should be committed because of his to-the-death obsession with his brother. He'll never let it go. And no one is going to cheer him if he succeeds, they'll just shake their heads and be thankful he isn't related to them.
-
I hope you're happy now Chuck, you son of a bitch!

If there were to be some kind of lawsuit with regards to the Mesa Verde thing, I have to believe the question of Chuck's competency would arise. He can't bully his way out of every situation. And I can't blame Jimmy for Chuck's accident in the copy shop. Ernesto's supposed to be caring for him, he really should have called for medical assistance when Chuck started showing the strain. It was Chuck's enormous ego and inability to just let things go that got him hurt. And if Kim didn't want to be with Jimmy, she wouldn't. Free will, and all that.

Wendy's story is the only one I'd be interested in for another season; the 2 male leads are just going to be doing more of the same old boring macho games. It's extremely disheartening to me that in 2016, what goes on between consenting adults in the bedroom can still be used for blackmail by people who are engaged in actual criminal activities.

auntjess, thanks for the heads-up about Property Ladder! Discovery Family is not a channel I usually check, so I'd never have known it was on. I,too, miss Buy Me. Gone too soon.

S05.E06: Going For Baroque
Broderbits replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway All Stars
I don't know how the designers are supposed to figure out what to make for these challenges, when whoever creates the challenges has no idea what they're doing. They just throw out a couple of catchphrases and expect miracles. And by catchphrases I mean a couple of random words strung together without regard for logic. Most of the outfits looked like entries for a Futuristic Sci-Fi challenge, not remotely Baroque. -
smlait, you could try looking in the Genre Talk forum under House Flipping Shows. The people there seem to be watching stuff besides the usual HGTV.

Just finished watching the new episode in Santa Ana, and thought the house looked over-staged at the showing. There were too many knick-knacks everywhere, too many patterns, just too much stuff. Obviously it didn't put off buyers because the place did sell, but if my livelihood depended on presenting a flip at its best I wouldn't be hiring those stagers again. It looked more like a retail store than a home.

I'm sure the writers & producers of this show think it's High Art, but I disagree. They threw together too many story lines and did a poor job of sorting things out while wasting time on unnecessary dancing & poetry. I don't need for everything to be tied up neatly, it wasn't last year but things seemed to flow better. In spite of excellent actors this season plodded along much of the time and then felt rushed at the end. And I didn't believe some of the plot contrivances, like the detective friend of Kevin's parents taking the fall.

Tom will always be that annoying Mickey Doyle from Boardwalk Empire to me, the exact opposite of "hot". I can't for the life of me understand why Claire wants to be President, unless it's simply because whatever Frank has she has to have also. Sure she loves power, but she has no idea what to do with it. She doesn’t really believe in anything, she abandons her causes as soon as they’re no longer useful. She’s mismanaged every situation she’s been in charge of. It's fun to watch Robin Wright in the role, but Claire is even more loathsome than Frank.

How could they possibly bring any drunk driving charges because of what he said in a video? Wouldn't they need actual evidence, like a breathalyzer or blood test? Axe, however, is plainly caught in the act of assault. Not self-defense or protecting his kids, but making himself feel better by punching someone.

Glade said: I agree. First they wrote Sebastian as a righteous hacker trying to do some good, now he's bragging, being sloppy, and using this situation to pick up chicks. It's going to get him caught and maybe implicate Anne.

The location of the powder room is usually dictated by where the plumbing is. Relocating pipes and venting can be expensive. Of course, if you're already going out to the garage for laundry maybe the powder room could go there too.

Thanks kassandra8286! I wasn't sure if that was the truth when they surprised the principal with it.

I'm really not happy with the writing this year; they've just been cramming all this stuff together but not making it mesh. I get that they might want it to be like "real life", in which case they should be making documentaries. If they want to tell a story, can't it be a little more coherent? Why was there no translation of what Evy told that woman(forgot her name, the one who apparently wants to be the next principal)? I can't believe Kevin is so cluelesshe didn't understand what his little pep talk to the boys did.

Wendy is the only character I look forward to seeing; Mrs. Axe has had some interesting stuff, but the actress just leaves me cold. If only the writers had made Wendy Mrs. Axe, what a power couple that would have been! And maybe the show would be more than week after week of big swinging dicks trying to outdo each other while their wives and mistresses clean up the mess and hope they can pay the mortgage.

I don't get the washer/dryer thing either, unless they're going in an attached garage, in which case it's like having a laundry room off the kitchen. But it doesn't seem like any of these flips have basements or attached garages. This last house had such a big kitchen there was plenty of room for a w/d unit.

If that 1 bathroom house was on the beach in Malibu, it would have been listed for at least $1,420,000. As Chessiegal said: Location x 3

I'm just really disappointed in the way Taylor's story has unfolded; it feels like he never had a chance. Now his life is pretty much over and the kids who put this whole thing in motion are going to get away with it, no one has learned anything, no one except Taylor is going to suffer any consequences. Plus, his former caretaker should have checked to see that the gun was still in the drawer after he spent so long in the bedroom and went banging out of the house. What was the point of the Sebastian character? There can't be that many episodes left, are they saving a big surprise for the finale?

Marceline said: But Gus is having so much fun feeling sorry for himself and messing with Fiona! If he wouldn't sign the quitclaim papers, he probably isn't going to cooperate in getting a divorce. I guess no one ever told him that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference.

StopShouting said: Except Helene & her husband clearly have an open marriage. Hubby is only mad at Lip because he blames him for the predicament she's in now and the possible loss of her job. But the reckless way she's been carrying on (I don't think this is the first time she's slept with someone in the dorms) it was inevitable that she be found out.

I don't think it's narcissism as much as a case of personal experience and what each character's peer group has laid down as expected rules of behavior. And I mean the adults' peer groups as well as the teens. Taylor's mother is trying to do what's best for her son, but just because he says "leave it alone" doesn't mean years later he won't have a conversation with her like the one he had with the grandpa-type and ask her why she didn't fight for him. Teenagers aren't really famous for knowing what's best for them. Coach seems pretty clueless and Leslie's ego is all tied up with this "elite" school. I hope we are going to get some back story with her; there's got to be something big responsible for the incessant hand-washing.

Here is a show in which every single character is utterly despicable, and it's still boring as hell. Shouldn't Axe haven't the tiniest bit of charisma? All he has is money. If there was anything else on at this time I wouldn't be watching at all.
