  1. But there really isn't any "staying safe" when it's already been predetermined that you're going to go. I haven't watched the end credits for a while, but it used to be stated right on the screen that the producers are involved in the judging. Swapnil wouldn't be the first contestant to give up upon realizing nothing he did would make a difference in the final outcome. And to his credit, he doesn't seem to be bitter or angry.
  2. Wow, every time I look at Swapnil's decoy collection it gets better and better. There's just no way they could have denied him the win, so he definitely had to be eliminated in order to save Ashley. By the way, I'm plus-size and could wear several of his pieces. The plus models working for Ashley would have looked amazing in these.

I don't do Twitter or any of the other social media things, so that's all I can offer.
  4. I think they are all contractually obligated to say whatever TPTB want to advance the chosen narrative. It's been painfully obvious for many seasons now that there's a ton of manipulation going on, despite Tim Gunn's protests to the contrary. To quote Judge Marilyn Milian: Who am I going to believe - you or my lying eyes?

Maybe it's the work she's doing, maybe it's the fact that she had to keep it together in order to find Frank and get him released. But he was right to tell her because she'll have to tell the daughter and help her deal. Come to think of it, isn't Liza the only person to fight the despicable Colonel and win (sort of)?
  6. Indeed, who enforces these fashion rules for us "average" people? We're not walking red carpets, we don't have Talking Heads picking apart our looks; why should we care what Nina thinks about anything? I have eyes and a mirror, that's all the help with wardrobe I need. These shows are (sometimes) amusing, but they certainly don't have anything to do with my reality.
  7. I had a different take on the Diane/Monica callback: it seemed like Diane wanted her to get angry and maybe take action, like suing the firm. Diane let her eyes direct Monica to the new hirees, she seemed willing to help, she's clearly fed up with Howard & David. Obviously, she can't come right out and say "I want you to take us to court"; but it seemed like she was lingering, waiting for Monica to pick up on that idea. In my opinion.
  8. I wonder if the show has picked up a new sponsor for next season, maybe Lane Bryant, and this travesty is paving the way?
  9. Millennium said: Yes, it proves what a savvy businessman he is. When he started on PR his star had fallen quite a ways since he was the Next Big Thing. His exposure on the show has allowed him to rebuild his brand back up to a billion-dollar business, and I imagine he left when his contract let him.

  11. I'm quite sure that other contestants (I refuse to call them designers) besides Candice had so-called obnoxious comments in their Talking Heads; the producers simply declined to air them. And nothing she said was over-the-top, back-stabbing, or win-at-all-costs.
  12. Here's a theory: for some reason the producers decided this season would have a "precedent-setting" plus-size collection win, and they instructed the judges to sock it to Candice & Edmond last week to throw them off their game, thus allowing the Mamie Eisenhower Collection to prevail.
  13. All I can say is: Ashley, welcome to the relative oblivion that is the fate of most PR winners. Once again, mediocrity triumphs.
  14. I think the judges scared all the styling ideas out of Candice & Edmond. I hope they're proud of themselves(the judges), they really dumbed things down.
  15. I laughed out loud when Edmond's next-to-last white dress came down the runway - she looked like she'd been T.P.ed by Halloween pranksters! The rest of his looks were pretty meh. Kelly's was so forgettable. I like her but these designs were nothing special.
  16. I could care less about kids who think Kanye West invented wearing a flannel shirt around your waist.

The way she handled Jean was truly disgusting, worthy of Richard Schiff's recently departed character.
  18. Yes, there really was a Jean Tatlock. They broke up before he married Kitty, but then continued the affair during the marriage. She killed herself in January of 1944.
  19. Re:Nora The actress is wonderful, but for some reason I just can't muster much enthusiasm. I might be burned out after expending so much energy on the first season.
  20. I've watched this show since the beginning because it really spoke to me after a sudden devastating loss, but at this point there is no one I can pull for except maybe the goats. This new town is everything that's bad about small towns, on steroids. Loathe the fire chief. I'd rather go back and see what Amy Brenneman is up to.
  21. I don't believe for a minute that the associates put those "props" in Howard's office; I think he did it himself. He's finally found something that interests him: pulling a fast one on everyone else in the office. He's on quite a roll, what with a new relationship with Jackie and actually bringing in clients; sticking it to people who wrote him off as incompetent is icing on the cake.

  23. What's up with the judges reaming 3 designers and gushing over Ashley's so-called plus-size collection? I guess the fashion world's idea of plus-size is Sofia Vergara, because I don't know any larger woman who wants to wear crop-tops and giant quilted skirts. Edmond's 1st 2 dresses were gorgeous, but that black ruffled gown looked like a Morticia Addams reject. Hideous. Kelley's looked so much better in the home visit; on the runway it looked cheap & tacky, and not in a fun way. I want Candace's black lace coat, it was beautiful and wearable.
  24. I actually like Candice and her talking heads, despite the manipulative editing. She hasn't said anything I haven't thought too. Every season it's the same thing: TPTB want viewers to see things a particular way and don't think we're wise to their tricks by now. They can't be picking contestants for talent because each year it's more and more obvious that there's precious little. Maybe no one would watch a REAL design show, but can't they try it just once?
  25. I think the post-renovation house valuations are crazy. You can't raise the asking price of your house just because it's now up to code, and it looks like half of every renovation budget is spent on fixing things that should have been taken care of by regular maintenance. Most of these places look like the owners don't even know what maintenance is. Maybe it's just producer shenanigans, but why would you go on tv to be made a fool of?
