  1. Because logic doesn't mean anything to people just trying to stir up shit.
  2. I agree. And it's curious to me why those on the "winning" side would waste time trying to stir up trouble on boards like this or post endless comments online about Hillary voters being sore losers. Are they not happy their candidate "won"? Didn't they get what they wanted? Or do they just thrive on hate?
  3. Trying to figure out what the execs at HGTV are doing is a futile endeavor. They seem to cut any show that promises to be interesting and give us hours and hours of reruns featuring their pet performers. I would kill to see a "Buy Me" marathon right now! Isn't he the landscape/pool guy? I love his designs!
  4. It's not very comforting to think that trump will run the country like he runs his businesses as bankruptcy on a national scale does not appeal to me. I still would like to hear more specifics about how & what you think he's going to do. Also, again I'd like to suggest this topic belongs in the trump thread.
  5. Heidi looked like she was channelling that old video game, Athena. I kind of liked it.
  6. Roberi's collection was truly lovely. At least I can rest assured I'll never be hearing from Erin again.
  7. I think this election will be recorded in history as The Perfect Shitstorm. That is, if anyone is left alive to record it and there are future generations to read it.
  8. I would be interested in hearing what you think he's going to do to help the country, but that belongs over in his thread. Would you mind posting over there? I sincerely want to understand your views.
  9. That excuse worked for retooling the welfare system, but it doesn't make sense that people thrown out of nursing homes are going to be able to work. It WOULD work as an excuse to overhaul SocialSecurity Disability, which, as any watcher of Peoples Court could tell you, does have problems with misusers. And if they want to have at Welfare again, fine. But gutting regular SS, that we've paid into all our working lives, and Medicare, payment for which comes out of one's SS check, is going to be a harder sell. As I said before, I don't think the corporate greed monster is going to want to take it's hand out of that particular cookie jar. And I don't see the point of giving in to hysteria either. We all need our wits about us, now more than ever.
  10. I have no illusions that the GOP gives a fart for any of us, I just don't think the rich who own the nursing home franchises are going to give up that income. Old age is a big business and god knows the workers aren't reaping the benefits, but the elite who are want to keep on collecting. They're very skilled at self-preservation.
  11. Here's why I don't think we who are already on SocialSecurity and Medicare will see many changes: logistics. The sheer number of people whose nursing homes and assisted living fees are paid by these 2 programs, and who would be tossed out if the programs are discontinued, would wreak havoc in the old folks business. Many, if not most, of these places are owned by giant corporations run by the same rich white guys who are buddy-buddy with trump. They would not look kindly on losing that income. The average family can't pay those fees without that help, nor can they afford to quit their jobs and stay home to look after grammy & gramps. Plus, with climate change there are fewer ice sheets to set us old folks on. But you young people are well and truly fucked. I can picture Ryan & McConnell gleefully cutting the programs for anyone under 50, or pushing retirement age to 80. I just don't understand that level of hatred.
  12. For all the articles about why people like trump, I've yet to find out exactly what they expect him to do to help them. It's a total mystery to me how they think getting rid of public education or Obamacare or the EPA is going to do the average citizen any good. Billionaires running things is good because they don't need more money? They need ALL the money, that's their game; the only jobs they will be providing will be for people who want to work for less than half the U.S. minimum wage. It's like his supporters have totally given up and just want to cause as much collateral damage as possible.
  13. The Finale home visits happen every single year and have since the beginning of the show. It's not a bug, it's a feature. I've found that sometimes this crapfest is better with the sound off, especially when judging time comes and it's Nina's turn. So happy to see Michael Kors!!!!
  14. And that's pretty awful, IMO. I just want to clarify that I was not the original poster of that trump quote! No way, no how, would I have said anything of the sort!
  15. Personally, I don't think of Fiorina as any paragon of virtue either. The women's movement has been around a long time too (and not just in this country), what with the small matter of fighting for the right to vote and all. No tax returns, too many blatant lies to list, getting Putin to do his dirty work, nothing to back up his "make America great again" rhetoric, cabinet full of rich cronies with agendas mainly focusing on increasing their bank accounts, numerous conflicts of interest with personal businesses, nepotism up the yin-yang, making a profit off NYC paying for security @ trump tower, no intention of fulfilling campaign promises (the Wall), no intention of doing the daily work of a president, Russia Russia Russia.......my fingers are tired and the list goes on. Each of us is free to believe what we want. I know what I believe and much of it conflicts with your insights. All I can do is wish you Peace.
  16. The idea that "it takes a village" was around long before Hillary Clinton even thought of having children; it's an old folk proverb. And I'm pretty sure that she herself was not responsible for how a whole generation raised their children. Add to that the fact that within said generation exist many different styles of parenting and levels of competence doing so, and it's simply not possible to blame one person (whether it's HRC or Dr. Spock) for how the kids turn out. As for your list of scandal-free female politicians: seriously, Palin? Seriously?
  17. I haven't been this scared for the country since Bay of Pigs, so that seems appropriate to me.
  18. Not sure if this is the correct thread, but here goes: do any of you also watch the series "Humans"? What are your thoughts comparing the 2 shows? I was ultimately disappointed by Westworld and felt the other show answered more questions with less glitz.
  19. Wow, I never realized how many close friends of Christina & Tarek follow this board! We're lucky to have them post their eyewitness accounts of the couple's relationship!
  20. I too was totally shocked by this news, but it isn't going to make me watch the Gainses' same old crap every week. Why can't HGTV go back to having real designers, like Candice Olsen or that guy who did Designing for the Sexes? Talent and professionalism go much farther than cutesy-poo antics to make a show watchable. I also miss seeing people with more than one idea about interiors.
  21. I seem to recall that many of the contestants in earlier years had already worked for established designers. They were doing Project Runway as a way to start out on their own or build up their current business. The season 1 winning package included a stint designing for Banana Republic, but Jay turned it down. Maybe after that no one wanted to risk it.
  22. I'm really sick of litigants who are using this opportunity as an audition for their own reality show. Talk about delusional! Most of these people are too self-unaware to realize how ridiculous they appear to rational folks. Maybe the producers think it's amusing, but I found it difficult to watch that phony "motivational speaker".
  23. He was in 4 episodes of Gotham last year, that's it. Maybe that show is bringing his character back from the dead, IDK. Plenty of actors have more than 1 project in a year though. it's just a matter of scheduling.
  24. One tiny little thing I loved: when Anthony Hopkins was winding his way through the party crowd and made that Hannibal Lector gesture touching Charlotte's arm. I don't want Ford to be gone or just seen in flashbacks next season. He needs to be fully present.
