  1. The panel was alright. Larry Wilmore can be funny. I didn't realize his show got canceled. I do agree that calling it "defund the police" is really unfortunate, cuz a lot of my friends/family think it means abolish all police, and they are totally against it until I take 2 minutes to explain what it actually means and then they are like, oh, well that's okay then.
  2. CC can be unintentionally hilarious sometimes. He looked pained and teary to me but there were no sniffles.
  3. The mother was breaking my heart. So his lawyers "off the record" told law enforcement what he did with the body before the trial. Could they not quietly have done a landfill search then? Waiting until years later after the trial makes it virtually impossible, but I'm sure there was some kind of written confidentiality agreement. I read the transcript of the taped confession. Brendt is a sadistic psychopath narcissist. And while I'm glad that his girlfriend Tara did wear the wire, she also sounds like a complete lunatic.
  4. ^^ I just binged the current season of TC Canada and in that finale they did the same thing.
  5. I'm kind of mad at Shawn. If he is such a student of the show, he knows that keeping your ferro rod secure is job one. And why was he wasting all that time and energy to make a hot bath? It's day 10. I can go 3 weeks in a harsh camping situation before I even give a rats ass about bathing ~especially if I am alone. I'm kind of afraid to watch the after shows cuz it may spoil who the winner is by their appearance or how happy they are or something. Are they doing those live? Did they change the format to try to avoid giving out a million every season? But now they might have to give out more than one million. And it will make medical pulls more suspect. Since TV will be running low of programming, they should stretch the season out beyond 10 episodes. I could watch way more footage of the bushcrafting stuff, and I want to see everyone's first few days out there.
  6. As gutted as Bryan was, he will turn it into a growth experience. The Italian chefs' were very emphatic, almost angry. But that's because they could see how much skill and the talent was there, yet they know he's still got another level. It's tough chef love. I've seen Marcus Wearing do the same thing on Masterchef the Professionals. The only thing that sucks about this final is knowing two of them will not win.
  7. Ha! I was sure you were ranting about the gianduja, and I was going to feel dumb, cuz I had never heard of it! But yeah, matcha is so commonplace at this point that it didn't even occur to me you would be ranting about that! It's been all over the cookery shows for years. The gianduja was a new one on me. But then as they went on about it, I was like, um, is that Nutella?! At least now I don't think Nutella invented it. Everybody kind of stuffed up this episode. The judges rightly let them have it. I am glad stolid Domenico was not eliminated. He cracks me up. I wonder if these first three episodes were filmed in one week. The chefs looked quite weary.
  8. I liked this new challenge. Lots of dishes and it sort of simulated a multiple course service cook. I wanted them to make a coherent meal though ~app, main, dessert! Happy for Reece. Everyone seems to have their own little nickname for Emelia. She must be very well liked. Can't believe Jock was gonna put Poh through with that trash pasta. Is Andy afraid Jock is trying to trap him or something, he keeps using the "avoidance method" in situations like this: Jock: What do you think of the pasta? Andy: ...Well, you're the Italian, you tell me. Jock: Andy, taste Reece's curry, how is it? Andy: ...Um, here, see for yourself. (hands him a spoon of it)
  9. Given coronavirus and the global protests, I wonder if the two of them are believing these are signs that the world IS ending on schedule. Maybe that's why she's been so upbeat. If only the police had done something sooner, like, I don't know, maybe figured out the first or second or third murder, the kids might have been spared. How will her mom and sister's spin it now?
  10. Just binged it. I was going to be so pissed if Francis didn't win cuz he was on another level. Can't believe Lucy and her vocal fry made the finale over Xin or even Nils, who I thought got booted too soon. I found Francis delightful the whole competition. Then in the finale he kissed his sous chef on the lips and it was revealed he has an older girlfriend, so, even more cool points!
  11. Poh noh! We're back to the Faux Poh drama of "It will be a miracle if I finish this dish!!!!" I also believe there is a bias. Every challenge she gets super long talking heads and fake dramatic cooks while everyone else gets much less screen time. She is doing mostly dishes she's done before, or super simple dishes that the judges reward her for, meanwhile they chastize others for not doing enough. I just cannot abide that she is being pushed along toward the finals when she was an employee of the show last year. Maybe next next year Shannon can compete! The judging seems really fake sometimes, as does most of their "conversation". I much prefer the candid moments and don't see why it has to be so scripted. Poor Tessa, last week she looked really defeated, and being passed over again is not gonna help.
  12. I didn't watch the shouting challenge, cuz I don't LIKE SHOUTING. But I knew whoever got Poh was gonna goh into elimination. Emelia remains delightful. Mr. My Dish Has 5000 Ingredients was a bit pompous for my liking. None of the chefs' gushed over his dish like they usually do. Everyone was in serious "if you have nothing nice to say.... " mode. I'm glad Reece is staying cuz he cracks me up, but I don't want him going top three and still acting bewildered whenever he gets praise. Sad for Sarah, but yeah, once it was between Sarah and Poh, she had noh chance.
  13. It was a big shock to him too. He walked up to the gantry like he just got away with murder. Oh Simon, what on earth were you thinking? Up against four extremely strong cooks, and he presents a limp stalk with some crumbles on it. When he put that sad bowl down in front of the judges, I was . Then I'm like, oh dear, I just laughed involuntarily at Simon's dish ~he is totally going home.
  14. Roger Goodell looks like a hostage making a forced confession in that video.
  15. Anyone watching this season. There is a couple very talented teams and they've changed up the format a bit. Enjoying it!
  16. Esme and her friends look like they could be in the band "The Human League!" Loving this show, as usual. ..and learning, as I never knew what "rag and bone" meant and other interesting things.
  17. I hope Marty and especially Wendy pay for their crimes. It is unconscionable the physical risk and psychological burdens they have put upon their children. Not to mention all the people they have gotten killed directly or indirectly. Having said that, Marty is way more likeable than Wendy. I still can't believe she arranged for her brother to be murdered by a hitman. She had other options that would have been gentler. Or she could have used common sense earlier in the situation and avoided it entirely. I hope Wendy's ego gets ever bigger since Navarro chose them over the lawyer and that her fall is spectacular. There are not a lot of people to root for in this show, but I guess I am rooting for the kids and maybe Wyatt. I have sympathy for Ruth, but she is a murderer, too. He needs to wake the fuck up about Darlene though.
  18. Yay Callum! I figured he would make a shocking comeback, cuz they made such a big deal about it. The second courses all seemed yummy. These judges do not pull their scores out of their booklets as suspensefully as the old judges. : D Do the ladies do their own makeup? Poh would be much prettier (to me) if her makeup was dialed back a bit. ...okay, a lot. Simon got a hair cut, looks good.
  19. I am always surprised when people root for characters such as Wendy and Marty. I am sometimes entertained by their fictional antics, but I loathe them and want them both to pay for their crimes and for what they have done to their children and other innocent people. Instead of arranging a hit on her brother, Wendy could have arranged to poison him or kill him in his sleep or something, and then let the hitman dude disappear the body. But Wendy don't like to get her hands dirty, so she ditches him in the diner and lets his last few moments of life be abandonment, confusion, terror and pain as the hitman takes him out. But hey, she cried afterwards, so I feel super bad for her.
  20. Reece must be growing on me cuz I was bummed about his duck floss. Additionally, why are human's so damn weird that I have to be worried about someone's duck floss. That should never be a thing. Tess is starting to have that "I've given up" stare. Hope she has a great cook soon.
  21. YAY CALLUM! Maybe they have been slow-playing him this whole time and he actually makes it to the final! Reynold's dishes are pretty, but pretentious. Are they elongating the season with just one elimination per week? Maybe they realized they would run out of programming?
  22. This season was all about V. It was interesting, but I'm sorry show, no matter how hard you try to humanize her and explain her abusive back story and show her grappling with what appears to be feelings and possible regrets... I am never going to soften toward V cuz she is a psycopathic killer of many innocent people and I really can't wish for a happy ending for her. I would have liked to see more of Eve's struggle with her feelings for V, some guilt about Nico, her own mental illness that keeps her persuing a woman who is a killer, who shot her, who tricked her into killing someone else, etc. She said she wanted V to bring out "her monster", but she never seemed to contemplate this, she was mostly just glib and didn't dig too deep into her own issues.
  23. Damn. I avoid all spoilers, so I thought they were pointing toward Callum going home, since they actually gave him some air time and even an "at home" vignette! I was really frustrated with Jess during this cook. First round, she features an ingredient she doesn't even like and a flavor combo she has never tried before. I was like, girl, why? Second round, she was being so sloppy with her cook, but I thought for suer she'd pull out one of her freaky fabulous dishes. She didn't. Maybe she got a bit over-confident that she could just make anything work cuz she seemed to have that magic last couple cooks. She was the worst on the day, but damn. I think that is the first time we have seen Simon utterly lost, but Jock did pressure him at the end to add more coffee flavor, then he got dinged for having too much coffee flavor. The judges did a bit better this episode. They seemed to be having some unscripted fun moments like Jock being dazed by Reese's calm tarragon tweezing. Also, Jock is Italian??? Why does he have an Irish accent? I hope y'all, stick around, there are still good cooks to root for.
  24. There just isn't anyone else who would murder Pam execution style like that. It was clearly not a robbery with her wallet and phone just discarded. And a client would not shoot their financial advisor during a scheduled meeting, that is just stupid. The kids were so sure it wasn't Dad. Really? Not even a doubt? That creeps me out, too. OT: I've been watching some of the UK's "Catching a Killer" series. It's very interesting to see how differently they go about interrogating suspects in the UK. They basically share every detail they learn. No lying, no shouting, no accusations.
  25. Okay that was worth it. The story about Wendy starts at about 43 minutes in. It was provided quite a lot of insider info. The host is LOUD and talks fast, so I turned the volume down a bit and turned the subtitles on. This provided a totally hilarious show in itself as the subtitles tried in vain to keep up with the host. Things like "I ain't answering the phone" became "ass in the phone" and "Kevin's been dropped from her life insurance" becomes "Kevin was drunk from her life insurance." OMG it was hilarious and worth a watch for that alone.
