  1. It was not the joke that would lead to a prelude to romance. It was the subliminal undertones of their ongoing connection as they travel that to me seemed (if Ellie was over 21) would have been a gateway to moving the relationship to another level. It would be viewed as "sexual tension." I see it, sense it, and that is all I am saying.
  2. There is nothing inappropriate about their interactions. Nothing. That's just the point. Their interactions and behavior with each other subliminally infuse wrong conclusions about where it could go if she was older. Nope. Not at all. It is in the writing and the closeness of the interactions that simply said: if she was older those same scenes would move to another level.
  3. I think their relationship worked in the video game because they were a "team." But in the transfer to film, their relationship came way too close to the edge of conclusions because they are people. She is 14 and traveling all over with a grown man who is not her father: they eat together, sleep next to each other, work together, share laughs together, and if she was over 21 this relationship would move to another level, especially at the end when she tells him the diarrhea joke. I think many viewers see this and just don't talk about it. It is a weird dynamic that maybe could work if it was a short movie but as each episode develop the "wiggins" factor grows.
  4. There is chemistry and then there is acting that infuses scenes with unintentional elements which open the window for wrong conclusions. I actually came here to say that some of the scenes between Joel and Ellie make me uncomfortable. I felt like this last week when they were in the car, when he told her to put on her seatbelt, but kept quiet about it but after this week.... I don't know it could be me and the personal history I bring to the show. The "chemistry" at times between them gets too close for comfort. The way she giggles and laughs, it could be how the actor playing Ellie makes those scenes almost flirtatious... I don't know. And I hesitate to say that is what I sometimes see.... I think the director could have done a better job with having the actors stay in character and not blur the lines that establish boundaries. Joel is NOT Ellie's father.
  5. They already passed one ghost ship. There was no indication this ship was also a ghost ship so I am hoping they crashed into a ship with people on it who saw the crash and saved them. If they are gone, I am done. The rest of this story line is generic and not even interesting except for Rainwater and the Indian school.
  6. This episode is up so no need for spoiler tags... but I will just in case.
  7. spoilers: DECIDER REVIEW a real thing by the way
  8. It's up On Demand. No spoilers from me... but I will say in my opinion episode 11 is awful. They should have left well enough alone instead of milking this into absurdity.
  9. Well, it is fiction so the writers keep Alex with Spencer to move the story forward. I don't think they craft the story with decisions about what even makes sense in terms of what a real person would do. I am one of those who find Spencer a man about whom to go wild.... as I said, it is his demeanor as well as his looks. As far as Alex, she is pretty and looks like thousands of other girls. I think they cast Julia because she has that generic look. I don't think it matters who we personally find appealing. Their chemistry works. If it was up to me in terms of appeal I would cast Monica Bellucci, but Alex had to be skinny, white, and young I suppose. I don't think Spencer would have opened that car door for me: big and old.
  10. If I saw his butt crack I would be turned off; if I saw his penis I would not bat an eyelash. What makes Spencer so appealing is his demeanor. I don't need to see nakedness to infuse sexuality into the dynamic. Spencer just has "a way." Showing Alex naked does not make her sexy... I think she alone has very little sex appeal. She is bland totally naked. it is her chemistry with Spencer that is the allure... and they have that fully clothed. Nakedness for me is meaningless if the naked actor doesn't have that internal spark. Spencer exudes more sexuality when he just talks than he does with his shirt open.
  11. I find those sex scenes incredible. Julia and Brandon have incredible chemistry. He reminds me of a young Paul Newman. I actually think they are objectifying Spencer. He is driving twitter wild. He drove me to the point of: if not Spencer, why bother? There is something about him, and it is not because he wears no shirt. His demeanor is mesmerizing. Not since Hud/Hustler have I so been drawn to a male presence on the screen. Julia's objectification pales in comparison and it is not she who exudes "sex" in those scenes. She is rather bland. He holds so much inside... he gives an internal life to Spencer that only a great actor could do. I can almost hear him thinking. Idris Elba does the same thing. The move was not great but he did the same thing in The Mountain Between Us. Few others can do that.
  12. If they kill off Jacob I think it is because Harrison Ford did not want to commit to all the episodes in this season or what could be many seasons. I think they will concentrate on Spencer and Alex in due time when they return to the USA. I think they have incredible chemistry and a show going forward mostly about them would be great. By the way, the actress playing Alex is American. An American doing a British accent is quite rare, huh? She is a great actress, in interviews she comes across as a real "valley gal" wearing heavy eye makeup.
  13. I watch it as a fictional piece for entertainment, not as an historical documentary, so if they get it wrong I do not care. As far as Spencer and Alexandra's dialogue being nothing, I don't care about that either. Their romantic chemistry is phenomenal and I wouldn't expect them to have meaningful verbal interactions. Spencer shoots, Alexandra screams and it is all fiction... and I am loving every minute of it. Damn, that Spencer is sexy. As far as who is washing those sheets, I suppose whoever is hired to get the stuff out of the costume department. Maybe they had one of those new washing machines? These shows are not made to make political statements. That is the purpose of documentary films which show historical atrocities against man and animals and in docs I expect factual accuracy. In order to move the story, they create obvious nonsense. I watch it with the same eyes that I watch Superman. I do not pick apart whether he could actually bend steel with his bare hands or even care that Lois is there only to flirt with Clark Kent. I do not watch TV to become angry... and if I do I stop watching.
  14. OK I realize it now. Beth is a caricature and written so poorly that her lines are a laugh. She is so obnoxious. if she was a real person I would be delighted I did not know her. Her comments are exhausting.
  15. Beth is an entitled disgusting vile chain smoking alcoholic low class creep. Everything she says is some sarcastic snap and then she walks away. They are all killers or murderers or bullies. What a disgusting family. And they brand their hired help? And why did they shoe horn in Summer? Is it because her husband is the director of many episodes so they gave her a job? What a collection of unlikeable characters. And Rip forced old man Lloyd to fight? Rip pits the guys against each other like it is Ancient Rome and they are gladiators. He will take them to the train station. I would like to take him to jail. I never watched this show and binge watched all seasons to season 4 after I watched 1883 and the first two episodes of 1923.
  16. Jack is Kevin Costner's grandfather... but Jack is either the son of JohnII or Spencer, which would make Spencer Kevin Costner's great grandfather. ETA: I am all wrong on this. Emma is alive and Jack is about to be married. Spencer has a concurrent life so he cannot be Jack's father. Jack is grown when Spencer is in Africa.
  17. This is speculation, if true I placed it in spoiler tags.
  18. I am new to this Yellowstone universe.... having been drawn in by 1883 and 1923. (I am binge watching from season 1 on). Is it me, or is Beth totally vile and obnoxious? I do not see her as strong or even evil, just like a spoiled entitled brat. OMG I can't stand her. There is nothing about her to admire, and no, if she was a man I would still find her disgusting.
  19. Have you seen any documentaries or the film on the Irish laundries? Check out The Magdalene Sisters for some more horrifying history about the nuns in schools and other institutions.
  20. This is a masterpiece. Yes it is depressing those were hard times. I have not watched a series in a long time that comes close to the magnificence. It is beyond moving. It is perfect.
