  1. You make a good point. I also watched Good Luck Charlie and even in the cheesiest episodes, the teenagers still felt like real people as opposed to the teens we got in GMW that sit and discuss every single little thing and reassure each-other every other episode about how they are best friends. Even Amy Duncan from Good Luck Charlie had more to do as a character separate from her kids than Topanga does on this show! It's a damn shame that the writers or Jacobs didn't care enough about the character of Topanga to actually give her stuff to do away from Auggie or annoying Ava and the rest of his pointless plots. Good Luck Charlie had the lesbian couple show up in their last season as the moms of one of Charlie's little play-date friends and it was just like any other bit in the show. Teddy had to deal with her boyfriend cheating on her and there were actual ramifications (mostly). So, GLC was also a Disney show that didn't seem to have too many issues maintaining their kid audience but somehow remained entertaining and not get too preachy.
  2. I'm not surprised the show was cancelled, but then again, I probably shouldn't have watched in the first place since I am not in the age group for the intended audience. However, (and I may be imagining this) I could have sworn that early on in the show's airing that everyone from Michael Jacobs to the actors & even Rider Strong were praising Disney/ kissing their ass a little bit claiming that without Disney there would be no GMW (because the network came to him) and that even if the show wasn't on Disney, it would tonally be the same because that's how the writers wanted the story. I thought I had read that Jacobs said something like Disney wasn't necessarily restricting him from telling more mature stories and that it would all happen in time. I feel like the guy is a little bitter that he got cancelled and now he and some of the actors have changed their tune. Lastly, for some reason I can't really explain, the whole "people change people" mantra that they keep repeating is incredibly annoying to me. It just reminds me of the reoccurring after school special theme that was so prevalent on this show. Like how the characters constantly had to state that they were the best friends ever and they'd be close forever and ever...it was rarely believable.
  3. Hmm...so the ending is supposed to indicate that humanity has swung back around to producing more humans vs abbies? But would the abbies even be rational enough to care for the babies that look human?
  4. I'm a little bit confused. Are Katy and Shawn supposed to have been dating off screen this entire time...or is he suddenly proposing to her and he hasn't seen her since Girl Meets Hurricane? Because if this is a rush proposal and marriage then that's kind of stupid.
  5. Is the stupid triangle subplot almost over? As for this "identity crisis" thing, Maya will have more than one in her lifetime is what I can surmise. One at 18 (go to college or just take a chance as an artist), one at 22, one at 25 when she's in the real world and so on..I sometimes have to remind myself that actual 14 year olds probably would think that their issues are so serious and that an offhanded comment from an art teacher could send Maya spiraling. This is all probably compounded by the fact that Katy seems to be a lackluster parent sometimes. I wonder how it would have worked if the show had Riley as the one dealing with an identity crisis but if they played it seriously and didn't have Riley spazz out like usual. Riley would probably be the type to develop an entirely new identity when she goes away to college and experiences new things since her home life is so stable and loving and she wants for nothing. Saw the preview of the next episode and yay! I've missed Rider Strong as Shawn and especially with Cory.
  6. Are they (the writers/Disney) using permanent record as a way to say high school transcript? Because if not then IDK what this is talking about as it makes no sense..I got the occasional bad grade in high school and none of those one off low marks ended up on my permanent record. One bad grade will not cause Riley to sink. The final grade in many of my classes in high school was an accumulation of exams, homework, projects throughout the semester. I'm being judgmental without having seen the episode but I feel like this is just another opportunity for the writers to make Riley seem as dumb as a box of rocks and give her a freak out moment AGAIN.
  7. Not sure if this is the right thread for this...but man oh man, I was just doing a LOST re-watch recently and I somehow forgot how much I LOVED Sawyer (James) and Juliet together. Favorite couple and it pretty much came out of nowhere I guess. The actors sold the fuck out of that relationship. Their reunion scene in the Season 6 finale was so damn good.
  8. Kate was a bad ass character and I really liked Carla Gugino so now that she's dead, I don't think there's really anything that will make me want to tune in to next week's episode. I hate Ben, crazy hypno teacher is still unfortunately alive, and the new main character seems a little bland so far. We'll see if next week is more interesting I suppose.
  9. So even if the show was still coming back next season, Maddie is still emancipated. Can that be legally undone? Would she just move back home and act like nothing happened? That whole plot was stupid.
  10. I'm going to guess that it'll be revealed during Season 2 that it'll be revealed that the abbies are mildly intelligent and have created their own societies and its the humans who are the rarity in the world. I can't stand Ben or the actor who plays him so I'll either FF through all of his scenes or wait until the character is killed off.
  11. I feel like Klaus and Rebekah have the closest sibling relationship and the actors really sell it in their scenes together and apart on the show. So I assume that the time jump will be three years to bring things up to speed with TVD. I really truly hope we don't have to deal with any "Hope doesn't know her daddy/ dislikes him" once Klaus is saved because that would be awful. Although we barely got to see Klaus with Hope this season, I love their little father/daughter interactions so hopefully Hayley speaks well of him to Hope.
  12. Not that it really matters since I suspect we won't see the twins on screen again and Caroline won't mention them except for the occasional phone call, but how would they split custody when Alaric lives in Dallas, TX and Caroline is in Mystic Falls, West Virginia (It's 17.5 hours to drive)? It's not like they could or should bring the three year old twin witches to MF since they'd be in danger constantly...so what are the chances that the show is going to bother with the occasional scenes of Caroline in Dallas seeing the kids who know her as their mother? To me, Caroline never had to be in a half-hearted relationship with Alaric to see the babies. She could have easily stayed as Aunt Caroline, someone who loves the hell out of the children but isn't their mother. What was the harm in not telling the kids in an appropriate way that their mom died before they were born but Caroline is family and loves them too. Bam! That takes away the lackluster "Caroline and Alaric are together but she doesn't really love him even though he likes the idea of a relationship" and could have allowed Alaric to meet another human woman that he could eventually love. The way things ended just make Caroline look a little bad IMO.
  13. Ugh..done with Elijah this season. He has steadily become more and more insufferable this season and he's one of my least favorite characters on the show. On the other hand, hell yes Marcel! Fuck their shit up. Davina and Kol's little goodbye was actually pretty sweet. Hayley and Elijah together will just be her enabling him and excusing his poor choices...kind of like human Camille was for Klaus.
  14. I KNEW these damn hack writers would do the cop out excuse of the twin little girls being siphoner witches so Caroline supposedly can't be around them anymore so there's her free pass to abandon her children for a man who will never put her first as long as his brother is alive. What a terrible mother. So the girls all of a sudden are a threat to Caroline because they can siphon yet it somehow never occurred in the past three years? Uh huh. Whatever Plec and Dries. Look what you did show, you made me feel bad for Alaric. Also, was that him dead in the warehouse at the end? If so, seriously Caroline can go to hell for abandoning two children who are now (maybe) orphans. I've started to dislike Stefan. Were we (as audience members) supposed to be shocked by the ending or something? Enzo and Damon have always murdered innocent people whenever they wanted, what makes this evil possession or whatever different? The larger body count? Literally no one will care, and nothing will amount from it. There are no consequences, so it doesn't shock.
  15. Sad that Davina is dead. I get why the Mikaelson's would choose family over someone who is not, but outside of the show universe..well Claire Holt still has no interest in coming back to the show full time, so what was the point of all of this? Was there really no other way they could have saved Rebekah but maybe just put Davina on ice for awhile? Hell, even Elena Gilbert got a ridiculous sleeping curse that tied her life to Bonnie's on TVD, why couldn't that have been done here? Hayley and Klaus need to have more scenes together, she and Elijah bore the fuck out of me.
  16. The way Stefan acted in his scenes with Caroline is exactly the kind of character trait (selfishness?( I HATE and have seen so many times in certain characters on the show. I mean Caroline has two young little girls that probably love her so much since she's the only mother they have ever known and Stefan clearly doesn't care. I know Alaric falls in love way too often, but damn do I feel a tiny bit bad for him. He keeps trying to start his life over and over again, but it never seems to work out. Ultimately I suppose it would have never worked out since she's an immortal vampire, but I just hate the cop out the writers took of having Caroline stupidly marked so now she has to run with Stefan (and will fall in love with him again).
  17. Well damn, I didn't think they'd actually kill off Davina permanently. Not sure if I should still have a tiny amount of hope that Danielle Campbell reappears on the show again sometime next season, or if Cami and Davina were killed because of budget cuts (since I hear the ratings aren't so good).
  18. Some of the extras actually had the nerve to boo her? That's kind of childish behavior on their parts. I thought extras have to be on their best behavior while on set, and I assumed something like booing a main actress on the show would get them removed? Oh well, hope Leah does well for herself in the future. I too hope Danielle Campbell hasn't permanently left the show. I have really started to like Davina.
  19. So potentially another movie role for Nina coming up? Good for her! I don't think she'll be coming back to TVD now, maybe for the last episode of the series?
  20. If Caroline chooses to just abandon the twins and run back to Mystic Falls or wherever with Stefan, I'm going to think very badly of her character. Three years ago she chose to be a mom and take on that responsibility (no one forced her to do so) so to drop it now just for a guy who seems to put his brother first 98.7% of the time would be stupid. It's still a bit of a mess though because like someone mentioned up-thread, Caroline will never age (unless the writers pull another magical vampire cure out of their asses), so how is she going to remain in Texas with Alaric and the kids? I think it's going to be handled badly no matter which way the writers go with the plot.
  21. Ah, thank you, that explains it. I'm a little confused as to how any pills can be poisonous to just witches specifically..unless there's like trace amounts of cyanide or hemlock in them or something, but I'll roll with it.
  22. Sorry guys, I've been watching the show sporadically, but if Enzo is the one who is giving Bonnie these no-magic pills made from Rayna's blood that are slowly killing her..then why is anyone rooting for her and Enzo to be in a relationship? If he's poisoning her, then fuck him, no?
  23. Yeah, this is very true. Coming from me, a person who can't stand Damon, not everything that went wrong in Alaric's life (for example) was Damon's fault. Like when does the blaming end and personal accountability start? Alaric was an adult way back in Season 1 and nothing was stopping him from skipping town one he learned the truth of what happened to Isobel. He chose to stay and kept getting himself entangled with the MF gang..and developed a bit of a drinking problem to be honest. It's great that Alaric is happy with his children, good for him!, but just move on and stop fixating on the past.
  24. Now that you mention it, what the hell was the point of introducing Sarah Salvatore on the show and then getting rid of her so quickly? Did Damon ever even find out she was alive? Was it just so the audience yet again felt sorry for him for killing a pregnant woman (and that was his self-proclaimed "worst day ever")? I mean the actress wasn't the most riveting guest character we've ever had on the show, but with a little more development, she could have easily been a new addition. One that would have had connections to BOTH Damon and Stefan. Same. I can't stand Damon but Ian does do a good 'sad' face.
  25. I agree with you that Paul doesn't differentiate the body swap characters enough, but has Ian ever played a different character in his body during the show? I don't quite remember..but I don't think so? And Kat only had Emily her ancestor. no? I mean she was passable, but not exactly excellent? Not like when Nina first started playing Katherine, THAT was great work in my humble opinion.
