  1. The Magic Knights need a bit more training in going undercover. Being the only ones in the crowd covered up in green cloaks isn't exactly inconspicuous.
  2. I happened to be scrolling through my TV's guide this morning to find that a new Power Rangers series, Dino Fury, was now airing. Given that we've already had Dino Thunder, Dino Charge and Dino Super Charge, not to mention Jungle Fury, it's no wonder I managed to overlook the start of this one. A couple of interesting notes: The Pink Ranger is a girl and her Ranger outfit has the usual girl's outfit style of the hem of the tunic extending down below the buttocks instead of being tucked in or contiguous with the pants like the guy's outfits. The Green Ranger is also a girl but wears guy's style outfit. I was wondering whether they were doing some sort of political signalling though I see that in the corresponding Super Sentai series the Green Ranger is a guy. (added to say: I see that her suit originally had the little skirt but that she tore it off in a prior episode that I missed) The Zords are styled as giant Legos. The cynic in me wonders about some commercial tie-in. This is "Dino" Fury but the Green Ranger's Zord is a sabre-toothed tiger (not a dino).
  3. Gosh, they just let anyone waltz into restricted areas in New York, don't they?
  4. That Star Labs satellite must be holding station over Central City 24/7. Star Trek: Voyager was made fun of because of the level of technobabble it used but this show leaves it in the dust with its nonsensical technogibberish.
  5. I kid you not, when Rindo was enjoying the ecstatic results of Eishi's food with Soma and Megumi the closed captioning said "[orgasmic chuckle]."
  6. I do have to say that the design for Charon was pretty cool. And summoning him would seem to be well out of the league of your regular witch types so I'm giving Cleo the side-eye along with most of you. Cleo: Yo, Charon, want to do a buddy a solid? You'll get to freak out some folks while you do it. Charon: Count me in.
  7. I'm a bit rusty on the Ascendant world rules but if Landon had died in there wouldn't he just pop back up the next day, or was that only a thing for those who were intentionally imprisoned in one?
  8. Move over, King Shark, there's a new giant CGI villain in town!
  9. He would have to get his face waxed to eliminate it.
  10. Attention dubbing people! Trattoria is pronounced tray-tuh-REE-uh, not tray-TOR-ree-uh.
  11. This has been going on from at least Outland.
  12. Um, thinking faster is not the same thing as thinking higher/better/smarter. And Barry could already think faster. Remember him speed-reading?
  13. It probably means there's a mole in the organization.
  14. I do hope that we are not in for a series of maudlin human interest stories with overintrusive background music telling us how we should feeeel. That will get really old, really fast. So the secret crash-site investigators are piecing the alien ship back together. Understandable, but in the real world such investigators like the NTSB know what it is they are piecing back together. Those photos the astronomers took (how did they manage to keep that secret?) of the thing before the remains started raining down possibly gave them a very rough idea of how it should be. Maybe if they get enough of it back together a critical mass will be reached and the ship will start reconstructing itself and the Feds will start to wonder if they need to stop it (cue the Borg).
  15. It Was Always You - I just couldn't. He was such an ass. Sure, he apologized every time, said he was sorry, but you know he didn't mean it. He was being an ass for her own good. Ugh and double-ugh. I liked the dentist brother better. Why couldn't they have had the free-spirited brother show his reserved brother how to loosen up a bit, saving the prospective marriage? Surely that island could have gotten some ferry service or something while the bridge was down. The place seemed well-heeled enough for one.
  16. So they throw the artifact away instead of returning it to its rightful owner? It's all about them, isn't it? When the artifact was given to Hope and it started into motion my first thought was is this going to be a monkey's paw scenario? Like, Landon will come back but he'll be a big walking pile of black goo.
  17. Nothing says romance and sexy times like a chill, dank crypt. At least there just happened to be dozens of candles lying around to set the mood. I still have to remind myself that these people are supposed to be high school kids.
  18. It is one of civilization's foundational building blocks.
  19. Mike Henry, former LA Ram, Tarzan, and son of Sheriff Buford T. Justice, aka Junior, died back on January 8th. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/mike-henry-tarzan-actor-dies-1234900132/ He was 84 and had suffered from Parkinson's and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
  20. It was fun seeing T.J. Ramini in a lighter role, I've usually only seen him in more serious ones. Plus one with a British accent.
  21. Hey, Julian, one aluminum carrying case right at hand upside Viv's head and you would have gotten the stupid prism and stayed alive. I guess those magic detectors we were told the Faction had weren't all that sensitive given they didn't register the magical impersonation spell. Once everyone was noted to be okay after Viv blew up real good a normal person would immediately have checked on the well-being of the magic tree and amber instead of waiting for hours and then only at the prompting of a sick witch hocking up ash. These are clearly not normal people. Watch enough television and you'll come to learn that everything caused the Dark Ages. And the pedant in me wants to point out that the so-called Dark Ages was a western European thing, not a global thing. Maybe they'll be able to save the witches from the magical pandemic fairly quickly but then drag their feet when it comes to saving the demons, say, until 90% have been killed off. But I'm sure they'll come up with some reason why they just have to save all the demons possible.
  22. This, so much. When I saw Hope saying she had to go do something after watching that convenient celestial event I knew she was going to shove Raf on a bus. Though I was expecting her to at least inform him when they were ready with the Ascendant. I don't think Raf's parents even had time to put any of their affairs in order. And I'd like someone to give the sheriff some vervain, though I don't know if that can break already placed compulsions.
  23. I missed this when it happened a couple of weeks ago. Comics artist Steve Lightle died on January 8th due to complications of Covid. https://www.cbr.com/steve-lightle-legion-of-super-heroes-artist-obituary/ I remember his work on Legion of Super-Heroes. Back when DC was still putting out comics I couldn't wait to read.
  24. Noooo, not Chad! Loved his Necromancer riff, but now he'll never make manager.
