  1. Wait since when is their favorite movie The Sound of Music? It's all about Catholics.
  2. Josie, in the picture, doesn't seem to be learning her letters or learning to read. That seems to me to be a writing exercise, most likely to practice writing the letters. It's possible that they want her to work on her handwriting. That's something special ed services would be doing in the schools near me with kids her age. Letter writing was taught in first grade. The schools figured it would take a while for the kids to learn to write. If a kid's handwriting was still bad at this point,(halfway through second grade) she would eligible to get help to improve it. It doesn't mean she isn't capable of more. Penmanship doesn't necessarily correspond with IQ.
  3. I liked the Vixen's Peacock look and was surprised not to see more peacocks on the runway. Asia's tweety bird was kind of puffy, but fun. She looked the drag sister of Jordan Peele. There were a lot of good looks this week. I liked the way they called out Aquaria. I'm new to this show, so I have no idea how much racism will pepper perceptions. I thought Miz Cracker (in blue) summed it up well. I liked them talking about their families. My heart went out to Dusty.
  4. I haven't had as much experience with altitude sickness, so thank you for the insight. Jill would notice excessive vomitting. Maybe not if he has a headache. The kids don't look that unhappy to me. They look like they normally do, and they seem pretty normal. They don't seemed thrilled, but they seem fine to me. I guess the one thing I would want is some protection for their eyes from the sun. They do seem to be squinting. He may have his head in hands to block out light.
  5. I don't mind them walking. When I was about Is's age, we lived in a city and my parents walked around with me all over the city. It was probably more dangerous than where Jill was walking. We did it like Jill for exercise and entertainment. Now if I was really tired, they would either carry me or find a mode of transport to take home. (Usually a bus to our neighborhood.) Jill and her sons are at least on a sidewalk. Now Jill didn't have to go for that long hike. But there millions of American children who grow up in cities and either can't afford a car or it's too much of a hassle to take a car places. They walk all the time. Food deserts are areas where people do not have access to a car and they have to walk a certain number of miles to get to a grocery store. And that's in America. Water.org is a new charity that puts water in people's house, because people in third world countries have to get up and walk sometimes several miles to get water. Jill didn't have to walk that for that long or that far and she didn't have to go to her favorite restaurant. That's a first world problem. But it's also a first world problem to say children shouldn't have to walk anywhere ever. He's young, but he's big and healthy. He doesn't look dehydrated. Although if that's Colorado, dehydration can be a problem. Jill should take care to make sure she and her boys get enough water.
  6. According to her blog, Jill says I thought she was going to be induced, but that's sounds like she's waiting to go into labor.
  7. I don't think Kelly really wants her daughters working. Gil either. They may know like you need a back-up plan in case something goes wrong (like being widowed young). Kelly has pushed her daughters to get married faster. The most recent and best example is Tori wanted to finish then get married and Kelly pushed her to get married Christmas 2017 rather than waiting 6 months to graduate. She's 21.
  8. You're right about almost all of this. 1) It's hard to say whether Sam has any long-term manifestations. The Duggars for years insisted Josie was very healthy. I don't know when they first admitted she had seizures, but the first televised seizure occured when she was five/six years old. I hope Sam is healthy and happy, but we don't know at this point. I admit I had forgotten she had been in labor forty hours. 3) I had apologized to Erin for overstating the health risks. I don't have any professional knowledge nor do I know the condition she actually has. I still she could avoid possibly serious complications by not having a dozen kids, but that's her decision based on her upbringing. She is taking lesser risks, but they are risks that could be avoided.
  9. I apologize to Erin. I thought her condition was life-threatening, but I was wrong. I will double check info next time. After scouring the net, I don't believe her blood-clotting disorder has been idenitified by name by Erin, or her family. It would be illegal for the midwife to be there, but not for Jill to try to have a homebirth.
  10. The first bolded part (1) is speculation. We don't what happened with Sam. We only know she tried to have a home birth and ended up at the hospital. Then Sammy was there for two weeks. We don't why. It could be complications that are genetic or accidental. Israel showed signs of fetal distress, particularly the meconium which can be deadly. But that doesn't mean that Sam's complications could be prevented. It's also speculation that Jill was the only midwife with Joy. An unidentified blonde woman was caught on camera and she could have been another/different midwife. (2)Jill thinks she was raised perfectly. She still follows whatever her parents want. For her to change, she would have to realise her upbringing was lacking and she doesn't. She's not going to do things differently unless it can be proven to her that her parents were wrong. (3) As I understand Erin Bates's condition, (not much), the health risks are in being and getting pregnant. Sometimes. the assumption that all the risks in pregnancy come with labor, but sometimes being pregnant itslef can be a health risk. Erin seems to be risking her life, because of her upbringing. That doesn't sound to me like she's grown out of her upbringing and it's not that different than Jill imo.
  11. I don't remember that ever being one of their rules. I remember there were rules about salary and income which they have broken freely, but beyond using the same income to pay for rent/morgage etc. I don't remember them ever having a rule that the husband should provide a home.
  12. Erin is married to Chad Paine and had her third baby (Everly) on Friday. Alyssa is married to John Webster (son of a Congressman) and had her third baby (Zoey) on Wednesday. Neither baby is a week old.
  13. Plagarism is something I learned about in the ebil public schools. Plagarism also seems like something fundies should worry about. If you get caught, it can be expensive. Avoiding plagarism can help avoiding debt and Bankruptcy!
  14. That's exactly the kind of thing my fundie/Duggar like friends pull. Leave it to them to be more concerned with showing off a baby like a prize then worrying about the baby's health.
  15. I think both families know that the sons from the other family have limited earning potential and tried to find men with better earning potential in the beginning. For years, Jim Bob used to say that his ideal son-in-law made a certain salary (around 30,000 per year iirc) and then finding know he settled with Ben for Jessa. (Derick's working at Walmart may have complied with that. One reason Jill got married before Jessa.) Both families seem less worried about earning potential now. Josie and the youngest Bates?
  16. 10 years! Not really! Most women have enough trouble having babies in their early forties. It's hard to next impossible for most women to have a baby past 45. Yes there are stories and exceptions, but those standout as outliers. Celebrity women often have IVF or other fertility treatments. She could have another five years, but even those may not be "easy". It's also possible that as fundie as Mrs. Caldwell is; she still has decided not to have more babies.
  17. Alyssa's last two pregnancies are much closer together. Alyssa's youngest two kids are 14 months apart. Erin's are 19 months apart and that's with her baby being born a month early. Did Erin really say she was surprised she was pregnant? Anybody who doesn't use birth control or take precautions shouldn't be too surprised. Erin seems to be fully on the letting-God-control-the-family-size train. I think part of that is she is so close to her mother. I'm sure Kelly really pushes her daughters to not give in to temptation and get birth control. Both Erin and Alyssa managed to have their first three a few months further apart than one of the Duggarlike people I know. Her 2nd two were as close as Alyssa's with the first one being further away from her 3rd birthday.
  18. That's the most non made-up look I've ever seen on Erin. She didn't have time for foundation like she normally does. You can see she has freckles in those photos. Usually she has a strong tanner foundation that covers her freckles--- including the ones where her older daughter was in the hospital? As for Chad, it sounds like he and Erin might be going back to Gothardism. Lots of children and he is going to work for himself.
  19. Yes, Joy knows all her siblings name start with J. She's old enough to remember when they were still having kids and picking J names.
  20. I had this in my first post and deleted it, because I thought it might be too mean. I like Kalorie and I think she's good-looking. But her runway make-up was too orange for me. It was more noticable in the workroom and the untucked area and it looked okay on the runway. I know it can be hard and maybe she doesn't have a big budget, but I would invest in different foundation.
  21. From Asia's team, I thought Asia, Dusty, and Yuhua were the best. I would have read the scene more in rehersal, since a bunch of them were told by the judges they didn't know their lines. Aquaria hasn't impressed me much yet. I like Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams. I actually think she is very pretty. I read an article by a gay man that said the same thing Kalorie said earlier~ that some fat gay men/women get more heat for being big than being gay.
  22. I'm putting this here, rather than posting in the the three different threads. I read the US Weekly interview. The print edition has an interview with three pregnant or new mom Duggars, Joy, Jinger, and Kendra. They are referred to as JF (Joy Forsyth), JV (Jinger Vuolo) and KD (Kendra Duggar). Here are my thoughts: Jinger's content is mostly what was posted in her thread in the link. Joy found pregnancy really tiring. Everyone else (Jessa, her mom) says "yes it is. take naps." If you're that tired, which I'm sure they are, maybe that's a reason to not have a dozen kids and homeschool. Kendra seems chipper and gung-ho about everything. She came off naive. I tend to think she'll feel differently after two kids in 2.5 years. Joy claims Austin changes diapers at night. I hope that's true. The most interesting part came when they asked about how many kids?/will they have more? I tend to think these questions are dumb, since the Duggars claim not to believe in taking precautions/birth control. However only Kendra said they would have as many children as God will give them. Joy said, "We love Children, so we'll see." Actually I thought Joy gave a strong answer. Jinger's was interesting. She said she thought they would have one more after this, although I forget her exact wording. I tend to think they'll have more than 2, but good for them for wanting for even considering trying to not to have a huge family.
  23. I vote for Jeremy Jr. for a boy, June/Juniper for a girl.
