I half expected someone (like Zac) to say something. I didn't grow up with a lot of money. As an adult, I don't make that much money. Even if I won the lottery and became a multimillionaire overnight, I would never say something nasty about a person who can't afford a designer gown. Their reaction kind of reminded me of the way some designers get pissy when they have to dress PR fans. The fans are the ones who keep the show on the air so that those designers can go on, get name recognition, and compete for prizes. Having said that I wonder how this crop of designers would behave in the super fans makeover episode. Given that it seems like most of them have confessed that they don't know how to make dresses and gowns, I wonder if they'd act as snooty and high fashion. I'm guessing this crop of designers prefers to design for the average customer.

When I lived in Chicago, the Chicago History Museum held a Charles James exhibit. I went to it and his work is fascinating. He was an interesting personality to boot. His gowns are extravagant and highly detailed. Very intricately made. Nothing that designers put out for the runway reminded me of what Charles James had accomplished. In fact, none of the designers' dresses qualified as gowns. I'm not saying that had to follow James' designs to a T. None of them is that talented, but none of those dresses were gowns. I'm surprised by the judges, but I think Zac gave the best critiques. Zac knows how to make dresses and gowns. Again, I like Kini, but I could not believe he chose Neoprene. Oy.
-
I can't believe Kini used Neoprene. I feel like setting the next contestant on fire who uses Neoprene. What a shitty thing for their social media person to tweet. Oh yeah. Melrose was annoying. She'd fit in really well with this season's designers, except that she's not a designer.

I like Char too, but I'm not sure Tim should have wasted his save. Then again, I'm not exactly wow'ed by any of them this season, so you could feasibly argue that Tim would be wasting his save regardless of which designer gets sent home. I dislike Korina, but I think she deserved the win over Sean. I liked Sean's gown, but it wasn't exactly risk taking. Was I the only person insulted when Nina dissed Samantha's dress as being something that a PR intern would wear? I think Heidi followed it up with a star's assistant. They're such snobs. I was put off by that comment. Hey, maybe if the fashion industry paid its interns . . . Anyway. So next week is a rain runway. Has Heidi been in contact with Tyra for ideas? A rain runway is straight out of ANTM.

Past Winners: Wanna Be on Top? Too Bad.

I think Laura is pretty, but what I remembered from her Cycle is that she was too tan to model. Or, at least, to model high fashion. -

I don't understand it either. She's pretty average to me. She doesn't have much of an upper lip, but she does have prominent teeth. Those things together were kind of jarring to me. I loved Miss J talking about putting a foot up Adam's ass. He definitely needs it. Romeo is a legend in his own mind. -
I was glad to see the siblings work out their differences near the end. I'm also happy that the place has been getting good reviews. As Intuition brought up, the "haunted" designation should help them generate more business. The hotel has been around since the 1700s, it would be a shame for it to die off now. Hopefully, they continue to get more business. I, too, thought that he makeover made sense for the property. And, of course, we get a Gordon shower shot. You can't have a Gordon without him taking off something at some point.

Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills - General Discussion
Surrealist replied to OnceSane's topic in Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills
Same here. It's refreshing that she could afford a nose job, but didn't see the point in getting one because she's fine with how she looks. She is pretty. -
I also don't understand the reliance on "Well, if Fade likes her, then she can't be that bad." Fade seems like a genuinely nice guy who goes about his work and tries to avoid unnecessary drama. This is how all of the contestants should be. Amanda went to Fade looking for an ally and create more drama. Korina's a big jerk. We've known this and seen examples since the first episode. It interested me that Fade told Amanda she must have said something to prompt those comments from Korina and Char. I'm not going to speculate on what exactly was said because I wasn't there and the editors didn't want us to see what happened for whatever reason. Anyway. I don't think Fade was saying that as a dig at Amanda. I think he listens to people and tries to keep out of everything. I think he'd have something nice to say to any designer who approached him (except maybe Korina ;) ), so I don't think his concern was anything other than him being nice because she was having a bad time for whichever actual reason. Or maybe he genuinely likes her? Who knows.

Hahahaha. The other day I watched a Kitchen Nightmares rerun on BBC America. I had forgotten that Gordon would remove his shirt and change into a chef's jacket while in the back of the kitchen.

Brittani takes nice photos, but she annoyed the hell out of me when she was on the show. The title of this thread cracks me up every time I see it. -
Something just occurred to me. I wonder if Alexander will still win Fan Favorite after he's been auf'ed.
-
Thank you for mentioning this. I think it also had to do with Char realizing that Sandhya is headstrong and it wasn't worth her mentioning that she thought they should go with more subdued yellow. Char assumed that she could make it work.
-
I thought Char agreed with yellow, but she was thinking of a more subdued yellow. Sandhya's yellow choice was a bit too bright.
-
I stand corrected. We didn't hear Char say that. We saw talking heads. Come to think of it, as someone else mentioned, we didn't hear Korina called Amanda phony either. Bad editing there. Amanda's dress bored me and fringe wasn't even involved. I still think she's a one-trick pony. Her dress from last night, those black triangles were reminiscent of a Stegosaurus' back plates. Yeah, it wasn't fringe, but I wasn't wow'ed by her attempt to be different. She'll have to try something else. You know, if it weren't for the Maroon 5 stans, she wouldn't have been voted back. She should thank her lucky stars. Well, those and the fact she was competing against Ken and Alexander who were even less liked than she was.

Seeing how quickly Kini churns out well-constructed, attractive outfits, I really want Tim to use his save to bring back Shan from UTG. Kini and Shan could wipe the floor with everyone. Both men would finish their stunning outfits in less than two hours, finish sewing everyone else's, and follow that up by cleaning the entire floor of the studio. YES! I thought the same thing: sabotage.
-
I like Char too. I think that Sandhya should have gone home because the braiding on the top made her design look marginally worse than Char's. Not that I liked Char's dress, but personality-wise, she offends me the least. Char agreed with Korina about Amanda. I know that it was from Char's standpoint that Amanda won too many times, but Char was present when Korina called Amanda a "phony." I don't think many of the designers like Korina, but I don't get that many of them like Amanda very much either. For Char to diss someone makes me think that maybe something's not right with the person in question. This is what I think too. I wish Korina had been sent home last week. She's like pox on the entire competition. I don't care for Amanda and yet, I kind of, sort of (not really) felt sorry for her. I agree that Tim should have kept his mouth shut. Why even tell Char you would have saved her had they been further in the season? That's stupid. Poor Kini. I really thought he'd pull off the win this time. The third time's supposed to be the charm, right? After all, he completed 3/4 of the look. This means Sean won based on what Kini made for him. Do Alexander's three fans sit on ten devices a piece to vote him as the fan favorite each week? What the hell.

S21.E02: The Guy Who Gets A Second Chance
Surrealist replied to Tara Ariano's topic in America's Next Top Model [V]
I agree. I was sad when Tyra didn't pick Josh. He's goodlooking and he genuinely wanted to be there. I'm sure he wouldn't have brought enough drama for the producers and Tyra to keep him around. He might be one of the only likeable contestants ANTM's had in a while. He seemed to pooh-pooh being a farmer, but there's nothing wrong with being a farmer! They feed the rest of us. -
Season 13 Chefs Announced: New Donkeys!

I saw a preview of the upcoming season. A shot of Gordon yelling (I think) "Idiot! Stupid! Pretty boy! GET OUT!" So yeah, I'm looking forward to it. -

Then Yu pulled that "I work in fashion, so I'm important" card and was like "I'm the photographer. I can call him what I want." No, you shouldn't. You should call him by his full name because it's not putting you out to say one extra syllable. Also it's the polite thing to do when you're asked nicely. You're right. Matthew wasn't being a jerk about it. In fact, I almost couldn't hear him say that, until I turned the volume up on my TV. Adam and Romeo can go home at any time. Something's not quite right with Jamie Rae, but I suspected that she wouldn't make the cut. However, her personality didn't bother me too much. She seems nicer than the rest so, of course, she had to go home. -

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's bored with the hookup element of ANTM. So many other reality shows I avoid work this angle well enough. I don't expect any top models to come from this show, but there used to be a little more realism with the girls who were selected. A few of them had real potential. Now it's completely about the drama and some crappy photoshoots. -

Also this Cycle makes me stabbier for some reason. I'm glad Miss J is back, but I feel like Kelly and Yu will drown out his voice. Yu is the male version of Kelly.
