Hee. I must admire your post (even if I don't want the same). It's a Meg-worthy sentiment (and I adore Meg, which means that's a compliment). I know adoring Meg, loving Crowley...there's something wrong here. Oh yes, it's Supernatural where 'up is down and down is sideways' (Dean). Crowley's Mommy issue is the same IMO as Dean's Daddy issue -- abandonment and lack of approval. Of course Crowley's is actually much worse. She LITERALLY tried to sell him and then I think she DID sell him to some child labor place so she could take off. And she's done nothing but berate him (after the obvious manipulation was called out). She's much worse than John. And yet surprisingly, I think she actually has some feelings for him. Those tears at the end of Execution Song were real IMO. Now maybe it's disappointment that he can't help. Maybe it's the parental ego (where the child is a reflection of you). IDK. I just thought that her anger and tears were about the first genuine thing we've seen out of Rowena since she showed up. I believe her end-game was to manipulate Crowley into doing as she wants (because his power really does outmatch hers). And I think Crowley knows all this. I'm anxious to see the continued chess match between the two.

The first successful killing of a witch occurred in the episode which must not be named. When Portia knocked out the control of the bad witch, Sam did an incantation and lit the bottle full of red stuff. Dead threw the bottle and the bad witch sort of exploded-ish. This was the same stuff they were going to use in "About A Boy" but apparently roasting her in the fire worked too.

I just liked the matter-of-fact way that Sheriff implied a high suicide rate for soldier is par. I didn't think it needed detailed exploration. I also thought Cole's frank admiration of Dean after acting like they had lost all heart was great. Cole has been in the unique position of being a "survivor" after losing his father and also "the MOTW". And he looks at what Dean does and now not only can he live with it, I think he sees Dean as a hero vice the villain he pictured for years. When he made a comment about being in over your head, I think he showed real humility there. He was pushing his viewpoint for a while and his experience really changed him.

Like he's getting a vector check on his approach to make sure he's on target with Jeremy's vision. I'm glad to see that collaboration. I'm so impressed with the J's commitment to telling a good story. Nothing Jensen says surprises me. I wonder if he knows how much we speculate.

Here's my vision of Rowena in Purgatory: First, she's pissed she's in Purgatory because she's human. But she's also scrappy. So I'd say she'd hide for a bit, make up a few hex bags and get a group of minions. Maybe they'll last longer because they are monster based. I think she'll survive by throwing attack dogs at all comers. Eventually setting herself up in a lair with monsters afraid to go near her because bad shit happens when they do. She'll be the queen of her own little private patch of Purgatory. And she'll be pissed about it. But so long as she can get others to do her bidding, she'll paint it like it's a grand old time. And she'll still hold out her little pinky as she drinks whatever form of wildroot tea she can create from the Purgatory swamps. So my eulogy of Rowena is: don't go changing luv, you're going to need all that bullshit attitude to survive.

I get where you're coming from. I hadn't seen Crowley as 'good' as Spike because Spike was never about being in charge of anything and Crowley wants to maintain control of Hell. Then again,, if he doesn't, he's dead because you can't leave an ex King of Hell hanging around. Divides loyalties. But I do love the Crowley/Dean bromance that I still think is there. I'd pay serious cash to see Crowley's FLICKR album. And I do think Crowley wants that connection with Dean. I feel cheated because we don't know how Crowley eased him thru the demon transition. As for Mommy issues, I keep thinking of Vamp!Mom trying to sleep with Spike. Sure she was awful to him but he could rationalize the demon effects. I think Rowena is far worse to Crowley. Still, it's a different phenomenon than Daddy issues. And it does drive both characters. BTW, I'm pretty sure Ruth is younger than Mark but she does a good job of keeping that maternal POV while remaining a HORRIBLE mother.

So ....ummm..science ......yeah, science...dictated that I go back and look to see if there has always been a Knight's helmet in the Bunker. The answer is yes, there's always been 3. But...it's a little more interesting than that. What I determined: - The 3 helmets are on the top shelf in the right side center arch bookcase (as you face the telescope). They show up in "Everyone Hates Hitler" when Dean is playing with the scimitar. They were shiny with one facing forward and two in profile. This is mid-late season 8. - Despite many many shots of the bunker, they always manage to NOT show that ONE arch in almost a year and a half. I thought perhaps because they were shiny and may cause lighting problems or for camera placement purposes. - Finally, in 9.23, Do You Believe In Miracles, the three helmets are back. Still shiny, still in the right side center arch. They look placed slightly differently. Perhaps the outer two are further apart and they don't look like they are definitely in profile. You can see them immediately as Sam and Cas walk into the main room after leaving Dean in the dungeon. - In Season 10 they show up in at least 4 episodes but they are different. You can first see them in Soul Survivor when Sam gets the keys after Dean escapes. They are no longer shiny, they are literally different helmets and they are facing forward. It's hard to make them out. - They show up again in The Hunter Games, slightly less blurry. They are fairly evident in There's No Place Like Home when Dean says "no" he's not okay at the very end of the episode. They show up in the THEN sequence for the next episode. - Finally, in last night's episode, they are very clear and distinct when Dean comes in accusing Sam of hiding porn. Still non-shiny, but clearly dull silver/pewter-ish. Interestingly enough, every time they show up, the bookshelves underneath are fully populated. In the picture with Jensen, the bookshelf is only partially populated. I think that draws your eye to the blank space and the helmet above. Now they redress that set all the time, so in theory they could just be mid set-dressing. But really, I think not. I think Jensen has staged that shot (as you suggest catrox), and left the shelf partially populated to give us a clue. Now, he could be dicking with us. He's certainly not beyond that. Giving us a foiler because he knows we'll pick up on the helmet and spend hours doing the science I just did. Or, he could have let his inner mischief maker out and gave us a legit spoiler. Of all the cast, only Jensen and Jared have enough clout to do that and not get into too much trouble. And Jensen is much worse than Jared. So...he's either setting us up with a foiler or he's given us a clue. I'm going to put this one at 95% probability of NOT being a coincidence.

I sure hope it's not a backdoor pilot. I wouldn't watch a Cole-based show. ITA, Sam and Dean's PTSD is Superman-class PTSD, actually probably worse. We have to add childhood trauma too, Supes had Ma and Pa Kent. As for why Sam and Dean don't slap Cole around... I kinda figure they cut him slack because they saw their own story in him. So, for example, if they had been chasing YED and it turned out that Mary was actually a baby-eating monster and YED was actually IDK....say an Angel who was actually protecting them. Well that would have put their entire childhood in a different perspective. And that's kinda Cole's situation. Here he thought he was chasing a monster (Dean), who was really the good guy. Sam and Dean lived with John's quest for 20+ years. Now in the end, YED was bad news, but John went to some extremes to find YED. Sam and Dean didn't torture people (well except Meg.... sort of), but I can see them thinking that Cole was driven like John was driven. So... since they stopped Cole from further ruining his life, they just called it a win and were glad they didn't feel guilty for another person permanently lost.

All excellent points. I think Dean HOPE they will come up with a way to kill him, I'm not sure it'll work.
