  1. Other DOOL cast members have racked up 34+ years. Only one has a superstar child, whose appearance on a lowly rated awards show, could juice the numbers a bit. CBS and 'the academy' are counting on a Jennifer Ratings Boost.
  2. Everyday is a holiday when you are worth $100M+.
  3. When the show is renewed for next season, they have an easy out. Dan and Louise move into the Funeral Home. Darlene and Becky stay in the "Family Home". No demolition. No rebuild. Dan just gets to tinker and Louise gets to be Queen in her own home. They move Ben into the basement "apartment". More $$$$. Dan still pops into the Family Home. Louise appears sparingly (saving some casting expense).
  4. While I have not read their contracts, I would suspect that both are doing the job they're supposed to do. WABC and Disney syndication clearly save tons of money by not mounting a production five days a week. Until the local affiliates start barking about show quality or something better comes along, it probably won't change. The pretapes are vastly better than they were a half-decade ago. The cuts are cleaner and there is less visible choppiness. I live on the west coast, so I have never gotten a "live" show in 30 years. Hasn't hurt my appreciation for the show.
  5. The game show is a Milojo Production. So Kelly is the boss. Which probably helps explain why she has had so many "west coast based" zoom meetings the past few weeks. Most game shows are pretty heavily scripted. That's not public speaking.
  6. In the original Dynasty, Rock Hudson showed up as Daniel Reece, who was eventually revealed to be father to Sammie Jo (Heather Locklear). So kudos to the show for keeping some history in place. He was a wealthy horse rancher the first time around. Now he is just a talented horse whisperer. It was Hudson's last acting role, and the 80s tabloids went bonkers when Hudson was revealed to be HIV-positive and had romantic scenes with Original Krystle Linda Evans. Hudson only signed on for a handful of episodes and died shortly thereafter. I think she will become more involved when Alexis returns from Dubai with Farnsworth Dex Dexter. And hopefully Prince Michael turns up soon, since Season Six seems iffy.
  7. I prefer the CA years. Cannot stand to watch the Bryant Park years. I like that each CA year brought some much-needed breaths of fresh air. Katie, then Triplets, then Barbara, then Polly. Admittedly, Fergus and Absent Robbie made the Final Year really bad. And guick Google shows the median age to get married in 1960/70 was Age 20 for female and Age 22 for men. Median means half the marriages were older, half were younger.
  8. It could be the start of a new trend.....re-visiting Stefano's dozen (mostly dead) children. We do know that Benji Hawk DiMera had a baby son. Move that now-young adult into the Mansion. And maybe check out that distant wing of the building where no one ever goes. We could find Megan Hathaway, rocking in a chair, Rolf's first "patient" brought back to life. We know Cheryl Anne Wilson was practically begging to be cast a few years ago.....
  9. They live in San Francisco, so having Marina dance with Lupe surely would have been acceptable. I would have preferred that to be the plan, after spending hours trying to train Connor, only to decide to do it herself. At the last minute, Marina has to bail, due to a twisted ankle or something. Then Connor and Lupe have their bonding moment. Not the best episode. Then again, any episode with JoJo off-screen is appreciated.
  10. 100% Agree. I doubt that his mother and sister would care, but I don't expect any declarations from Ryan until after his father passes away. I suspect that is the agreement/understanding he has made with himself. The gay southern male has plenty of cultural obstacles to overcome, many of them self-imposed. Another major influence on Ryan in his early years was Merv Griffin (ahem ahem). In addition to advising Ryan not to munch on the potpourri, he probably advised his protege to keep his orientation private. Of course, the world has changed so dramatically since Merv and his pool boys of the 1950s and 1960s. The advice to keep his personal life private is probably what kept Ryan from signing on to LIVE after Regis left. He was safely in a "relationship" when he agreed to co-host. He probably never expected that to flame out so quickly. I see postings on here indicating that Ryan is fed up with Kelly. I don't see that at all. They have been friendly for 2+ decades and she keeps his secrets. That loyalty counts.

  12. I'm not sure we even know whether they bought or simply rented an AirBnB for 10 months. When you are worth several hundred million dollars, having multiple homes is akin to having a spare bedroom or car or shed for 99% of the population.
  13. I think Ryan was in LA for The Big Game. I suppose he could have taken a redeye back, but why bother? And I guess I was the only one here who had supportive parents who attended my extracurricular events I did think this was one of their better-produced pre-tapes. The George-Ali-Kelly-Ryan interview went well. And the Marriage Contest gave us Mrs G and Mr Deja.
  14. Hmmm, a 6-month delay in the renovation. Can't imagine the Butlers will all stay crammed in that small house for half a year. Guess the show found a way to have them move in with the Johnsons. Extra bedroom, space for Tina to bake. Calvin and Dave under one roof. For at least half a season. Let the fun begin. <yawn>
  15. It's an assisted living facility, not a prison. The doors appear to lock (with cardkeys, how 21st century!). The residents can clearly come and go as they see fit, though generally that requires some assistance. My aunt and uncle retained their vehicle for their first year in assisted living. Last season, Gina's main role seemed to be as chauffeur of the mini-bus for the residents. Not sure the show has time left for Gina to blab much about what she saw on the closet door. Clearly she will say something to Peter's son, or else he wouldn't have been introduced into the show. The saddest thing is that Peter's outrage will be forgotten, by himself.
  16. I wonder if the shows will be marketed as "Season Finale" or "Series Finale". I did notice that this past week was the highest rated episode of the season.
  17. I would imagine that one of the conditions of residency is that management can enter their rooms. It's not as if they are living in some generic apartment building. The facility helps facilitate their overall care, so management needs to access the rooms, particularly if there is concern abot the resident's well-being.
  18. Probably. Although it would have been considerably less when they purchased it (a decade ago?). Even then, they were a successful couple. He had just had a best selling book and she was an attorney. They only fell on hard times (?) when she opted to stay home with the newborn twins and he failed to replicate his initial book success. Sending her back into the workplace should alter the financial picture significantly.
  19. Salem Place was an awesome outdoor set. It weaved to and fro, had a cafe, a Ballistix storefront, a movie marquee, and sloping sidewalks. And ambient crowd noise, with a distant rumble of traffic. The daytime was bright and shadowy. The evening felt like actual edge of darkness. Folks wore weather appropriate attire. Camera angling made it feel much larger. And apparently the traffic noise messed with the audio.
  20. I have watched this show since it began. I know covid has wreaked havoc with audiences, and I don't even know if they ever filmed before a live audience. That said, I cannot believe how intrusive, loud, and ridiculous the laugh track has become. Maybe this weak episode made it more blatant and obvious. It was almost bad enough that I considered shutting it off. The first batch of episodes from this season were borderline serious topics. Maybe they needed a *throwback* dose of fake hilarity.
  21. Except it's pretty clear he is gay.
  22. It's not that Kelly and Ryan are impacted, its the entire WABC infrastructure. Production staff, technical staff, union employees, security guards. When they all share a wide open studio, all heck can break loose and omicron could send them into reruns. At least for this week, we are hearing stories about what is going on, not merely reading articles clipped by a yogameister.
  23. Freddy spends the first 15 minutes declaring he has moved on: And promotes his weight loss:
  24. Freddie has lost over 30lbs in the latter half of 2021. I know it shouldn't make a difference, but it does. He has hyped it on the "Freddie and Alyssa" videoblogs. I'm generally strongly against recasts (who is this Lauren Koslow impersonating Deborah Adair?), but since Freddie has sworn off acting (in daytime dramas, at least), a recast was needed. They just should have found someone who looks 33-ish and can be imagined as a corporate type. Zach isn't that.
  25. I guess the CW didn't want an XMAS episode to air in March? The rest of Season 5 doesn't start to air until Friday March 11 !!!! Oh well. https://www.newsweek.com/dynasty-season-5-return-date-cw-when-dynasty-back-episode-3-1662953
