Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Sew Sumi replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Smuganna back in AR this weekend (again). Anna is pretty big for 7 months. https://twitter.com/joshduggar/status/595043373028810753?s=04 -
I saw a pic of them earlier today. I can't believe they still trot Jana out on stage with the Howlers and Lost Girls. Josie now has a mini violin. Afterwards, the Smugs and elder Duggars visited with this AR congressman. https://twitter.com/joshduggar/status/595043373028810753?s=04

Mechelle had a string of kids 13 months apart. Getting pregnant in this first month after the 40 days would put her right there. Kelly Bates did this as well, with even more kids in a row.
-
Iz is four weeks tomorrow. :) 13 more days until Muffy can get laid!
-
IIRC, that was about a week before he died. RIP JL. :(
-
Staged. They're gonna have to pry that crib out of Mechelle's cold dead hands.

To be on a fair playing field, we never saw Josh's courtship phase. The show only picked up the phony call to Pa Keller to ask for Anna's hand in marriage. That said, with both families heavily into Gothard, and no cameras to record things, I bet it was still super restrictive. They have only loosened up, outwardly, to conform to their mainstream fans who basically write their paychecks. Their social media proves that they are the same closed-minded bigots that they have always been, now in more user-friendly packaging.

Duggar hubris. It's apparently genetic.
-
It is also a "Gothard approved" vocation (avocation, in reality) for women. And they were fully steeped in the Gothard movement in those early specials. Watching them last night, armed with a ton of knowledge I didn't have then, was alarming and eye-opening. All the signs of JB/Mechelle checking out were already in place, as there was a shot of them walking in front of the kids holding hands as they went to Jackson's gender ultrasound, while the young teen/tween girls wrangled all those baby Howlers. Hell, even Smuggar pushed a stroller, probably containing Baby Justin. Now that's bad, and it's only become worse over the years. I know TH segments are often done months after the fact, but there is NO excuse for Mechelle not to show emotion when talking about the incident and their supposed rush to get home. I still don't know why JD couldn't have flown into a suburban airport and met them there. So many holes in that story.

I can totally see this happening. James was probably TOO honest, and it didn't fit the "nothing to see here" plot they're trying to shove down our throats.

I said on the Josie seizure thread last night that I don't believe pretty much anything that comes out of a married Duggar/Seewald/Dullard's mouth, but that I still believed the kids. As someone else posted above: What does this kind of stunt tell those kids? It seems to me that modeling this kind of deception leads the kids to think that it's okay behavior. Not that I ever thought much of the Duggars' "parenting," but this is especially shitty for those poor kids.

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

Agreed. The 3 kids in close succession after nothing for 10 years is the give-away. There was evil birth control involved well into their 30's! *gasp* -
Past Seasons Talk: 7 Seasons and Counting
Sew Sumi replied to auntie thesis's topic in 19 Kids And Counting [V]
This was the special in which Smuggar earned his nickname. During the "fan question" bit, he responded, very snippily, to a question about individuality. And Mechelle comments that they are "diverse." Except when you disagree. LOL They were full on into the Gothard kook-aid in these old specials. They showed them at Gothard homeschool camp, but it was totally downplayed to just "like-minded, homeschooling families." Of course, no one knew of the Gothard connection then, so one could only assume that meant conservative Christian. Depends on how much one paid attention to the scenes of home church, in addition to the frumpers for all. -
It was weird that they didn't let James have a TH segment, but instead let JACKSON tell the story. WTF??? I do believe the little kids; they have no reason to lie. However, I don't trust much of anything that comes out of any married person on this show. They're all earning a check, and their lies have proven to turn a sweet profit.

I believe James said he saw her seizing in the living room. It sounds like she was moved before the cameras arrived.
-
If her labor started at around 2am on Saturday, as they claim, why was it light out when they captioned both 24 and 48 hours of labor? And why was she still at home two days later? The first story claimed she went to the hospital 20 hours in. This story is probably the true one; Jill's common sense has been proven to be quite poor during both labor/delivery and post-birth.
-
I hate it too. A friend posted it elsewhere, and that's why I qualified my post by saying it was to show how knackered she looked, certainly NOT for the Fail's "writing." LOL

Looks like the Duggars officially have papz following them around. I just post this to illustrate how tired Jill looks. And why shouldn't she? She really hasn't had time to sit back and take a couple days off since she had major abdominal surgery! Going to Big Sandy probably took more out of her than she ever realized it could. I may not like her or her husband much, but I can feel her pain in these pics. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3061642/PICTURE-EXCLUSIVE-New-mother-Jill-Duggar-winces-shows-strain-family-outing-70-hour-labour-ended-C-section.html

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Sew Sumi replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Anna's midwife has real credentials! FINALLY! This gal is the polar opposite of Jill's Vanessa (whose license has apparently been revoked) or "Miss Joy" from the Shack. http://www.birthcare.org/midwives/marsha/ -
Aaaaand it's official: TLC and the Duggars BOTH swept Josie's obvious problems (the "4 or 5" seizures that Mechelle admits to are worrisome) under the rug. Something beyond febrile seizures is going on there. A 13 year old in a house with 15 other siblings shouldn't be able to pinpoint a seizure like that. Especially given that Josie is not the same gender or even close to James' age group. I doubt those two have much, if any real contact at all. That said, HE NOTICED IT. It's more than "4 or 5," Mechelle. Pay attention to those kids that you are so proud of delivering. Now that I've seen it play out on screen, I'm with wanderwoman; I'm so ANGRY on behalf of all of the Duggar kids, but especially Precious Miracle.

I checked out Anna's midwife, Marsha Jackson. She's a CNM, based out of Alexandria, VA. I feel a lot more comfortable about her labor/delivery than I did with Jill's "Miss Joy" based out of that shack in the middle of the woods. Marsha had it more together than all of the midwives/technicians we've seen before on the show, combined.

I mentioned it in my first post. They were in Alaska at a speaking engagement. eta: I remember making bad Sarah Palin jokes at the time. And back to the actual episode. I was sad for Jenni. The poor girl couldn't even keep her horsie. She just can't win, can she? :(
