HOTD In The Media: News From The Citadel
cambridgeguy replied to Meredith Quill's topic in House Of The Dragon
A scene from the next episode Looks like "spoiler" is a decent enough person, so obviously the death watch needs to begin. -
Why would he be lurking in the Vale wearing his Sith cloak if he wasn't planning to kill her? The only difference her words made was provoking him into bashing her skull in instead of just leaving her to die.
-
She's not the best match if you think the rest of the realm will reject her as ruler. Plus Corlys knows Viserys needs him (and Viserys is kind of a pushover) so he was able to dictate terms in a way that would have gotten him tossed in a dungeon by more assertive kings. Who else would be most likely to know what Rhaenyra was up to? If her bodyguard is not aware of what she's doing then he's pretty bad at his job. Admittedly she had no reason to suspect she could get him to spill the beans, but she did have her rank to throw around. No, she can't overrule the King, but she can (in theory) certainly influence him more than most other people. She's just lucky that Viserys is a pushover because most spouses would be livid over her deliberately showing up late and upstaging him.

It's not as simple as they're awful, so it's fine when they die. Tywin was a dick, but the show suffered when he took a bolt to the gut. Daemon's a horrible human being but if he were to die that would be a critical error. This will likely be yada-yada'd over the time jump, but there's no way he would be allowed to stick around. The Kingsguard are not supposed to fly into an uncontrollable rage, and Cristin is not some legendary fighter or politically important person who'd be allowed a little leeway for starting a brawl that could have seriously injured Rhaenyra.

S01.E04: The Great Wave

And then wait two thousand years until it actually busts out, since that doesn't happen until well into the Third Age. Although I suppose they could modify that for the show. -

One of the three elven rings (Galadriel's) is made of mithril, so it won't be too long before mithril's existence gets out there. -

Rick is pretty surly to most people, but I think he gets really pissed off around anyone he perceives as a bully because of how his uncle treated him. I actually would like to see Cameron talk about his dad's death. There was no body left behind (at "best" there might have been a few chunks) so how did they explain that away? -

The people of Numenor are kind of fickle, aren't they? If you hate the elves then why are you volunteering to go to war based on her word alone? The more likely reaction is to believe she bewitched Miriel and should either be executed or tossed in the dungeon forever. Was that Narsil sitting in the tower? Or just a sword with a similar hilt? So Halbrand was able to influence Pharazon immediately. A red herring that's he's Sauron? I don't think the timeline works out since he still needs to teach Celebrimbor about rings before convincing Pharazon to sail west, but who knows how much they'll fiddle with the timeline. -

I look forward to seeing what story the local news will come up with regarding the damage in the grocery store. Good thing whoever owns the story doesn't believe in using security cameras like our mystery villain. Looks like Joel McHale may be sitting the next few episodes out as Sylvester recuperates - seems like someone just flew him up into the air and then dropped him. It's a little surprising the Gambler's computer allows for an infinite number of passwords attempts. I'd have expected better from a criminal mastermind. -
Or the average viewer can watch (or not) without running to the internet or social media and posting a 2 hour video explaining why the show is awesome or sucks. There's no question they massively compressed the timeline, invented some new characters, and altered existing ones. Whether or not that created a good show is subjective.

S01.E04: King of the Narrow Sea
cambridgeguy replied to Meredith Quill's topic in House Of The Dragon
I'd like to think she was smart enough to know she was backed into a corner. Viserys said disinheriting her would divide the realm when in fact all evidence indicates the exact opposite is true at the moment. If she really wants to be queen then she had to give in, but at least she was able to get Otto fired. -

Being only half-Targaryen is just fine for dragons, as proven by Jon Snow. Plus Alicent's kids will likely be dragon riders too, and there's no indication the Hightowers have Valyrian blood. I wonder if Viserys has ever considered wearing chain mail under his clothes. -
An all time great is chasing 700 homers and the Yanks have a real life Paul Bunyan closing in on 60+ homers..... and why do I get the feeling the vast majority of the public has no idea?
-
The Packers liked 2021 so much they're doing it again. Last season they started the season by getting killed 38-3 and Rodgers sucked. Then they were perfectly fine until coming up short in the playoffs (again)
-
And yet they somehow won. Miracles happen!
-
The most unrealistic thing on the show so far is the idea that Jen would get NO matches aside from that one loser, even with the corporate profile pic. And yes, it is kind of tired that 99.9% of men suck and are apparently so oblivious they don't know Jen and She-Hulk are the same person.
-
He's the Aragorn of the Southlands, except that his ancestors allied themselves with Morgoth. They probably should, since she's supposed to be supernaturally beautiful and all that, but who knows. If it really is just the ears then she needs to be like Spock and find some sort of headgear to cover up.

When was the last time Harrison Ford ever looked that happy?

This show redeemed Chozen, a swindler who held a knife to the throat of an innocent girl who rejected him and also tried to straight up murder Daniel. No one would have walked out of KK2 thinking that the guy deserved a second chance, and here we are. A teenager isn't beyond hope in a show like this. Speaking of Chozen, hopefully he sticks around if there's a season 6. Apparently the vast majority of kids in the San Fernando Valley are just itching to learn some karate, so that's one heck of a business opportunity for an experience sensei.
-
Silver still would have looked into him and his backstory would have fallen apart instantly. I think he's still staying with Daniel, so sending one of his goons to follow him home would have done it.
-
????? Milly Alcock is 22, Emma D'Arcy is 30
-
Ned Stark realized how powerful the previous king's word is once he dies. The only people who might be on her side right now are her mom's relatives and anyone who loathes the Hightowers. She'll want more when the time comes.
-
Miguel - There are more important things that karate. While Amanda would agree, apparently someone hasn't been paying attention for the past few seasons. It's all about the karate! I still think we missed out on hearing the conversation between Daniel and Amanda when he told her about Chozen. That would have been hilarious.

What does Barbara actually do at work? Does she just have some nebulous public works role? Ep 1, Sylvester goes AWOL with Pat, gets them in trouble. Ep 2, Sylvester goes AWOL with Courtney, gets them in trouble. Ep 3, he needs to convince Barbara or Mike to go do something reckless. Nice to see the citizens continue to be oblivious, as evidenced by Courtney just walking around with a glowing staff without a care in the world and everyone buying that a "tornado" materialized out of nowhere just to kill one person. And come back soon Shade, the show is better with you skulking about and teaching people how to brew a proper cup of tea.

S01.E01: The Heirs of the Dragon
cambridgeguy replied to Meredith Quill's topic in House Of The Dragon
If those lords aren't already an integral part of the story in the book then introducing a bunch of foreigners just to satisfy a diversity requirement would make certain people equally pissy. Deviating from canon to do so is one of the reasons so many folks are outraged about Rings of Power.
