  1. This is from back awhile, but I caught the pilot episode on Syfy (of all places) day before yesterday. I also hadn't realized this. Brass was a real pill (to put it politely), especially to Warrick. Also, one of the episodes they showed was the one with the 'Plushies'. Eek! I know that everyone has different interests and tastes, but I always get the giggles when I watch the fashion show scene, especially when the person dressed as the kangaroo struts his stuff and then lowers his sunglasses like he's so cool and hip. Ha!
  2. Why on earth is SyFy airing a 'CSI-Crime Scene Investigation' marathon today and tomorrow? It can be science-y, but it definitely isn't scifi. (However, I have to admit that I was a little interested when I saw the listings, because I didn't watch the show when it first came on and since they are starting with the 'Pilot' right now, I thought I could start to catch up. But, I now realize that they are just choosing a few episodes from each season and are skipping too much for me to watch seriously. I might keep it on in the background, since there's not much else to watch, but seriously-- 'CSI' on SyFy?)
  3. Pretty good episode. I liked how Ezekiel Jones was turned into a 'good guy' when he wore the hat. Jenkins (exasperated): 'Oh, shiny balls, yes!' And later: Nick: 'Somebody jacked Santa's ride!'
  4. I learned something new today! I looked it up. Yes, there is sometimes snow on the three (?) highest mountain peaks.
  5. I was kind of relieved when 'Janice' turned out to be an action figure of Yeoman Rand (although I should have figured it would be some type of 'science fiction' thing). I knew it wasn't going to be about a real girl, but I thought it might have been something a little more creepy, like an anatomy skeleton named Janice or something like that. The scene where Urban Myth and his owner were reunited was good, but I immediately thought of the Budweiser Superbowl commercial where the Clydesdale found his owner after the parade (and then I wanted a beer).
  6. Yes, as far as I know, it's always been the same actor. The first time I saw him, I recognized Baboo. I keep forgetting this show is on. I missed this episode. I'll have to catch it online whenever.
  7. I don't watch a lot of 'Family Guy', but there are moments that I like (I don't like to see cartoon characters throw up, so I avoid those scenes when possible). Anyway, I always have to watch the episode where Stewie kidnaps the cast of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. (it's on right now) I love all of their scenes, especially the one where they are all bickering at the McDonald's drive-through ('I want a McBLT'. You could ask. Sometimes it's a regional thing'. 'Are they still serving breakfast?' Sometimes they serve breakfast all day'. 'Wil: I want a hamburger. No, a cheeseburger. And a hot dog!' Patrick: 'Shut up!' and smacks him.) And the fact that those were the actual actors and not sound-alikes made it even funnier).
  8. I think it was 'Sisters'. Sela Ward's character was always changing jobs, and she did phone sex for awhile. I don't remember if she was ironing, but I seem to remember that she was doing some type of household chores, like folding clothes, or something.
  9. It was funny to be reading here about the comparisons of this episode to the 'furries' one and then see a story from the Associated Press about how a hotel hosting a 'furries' convention in Chicago had to be evacuated yesterday. It was definitely a serious issue (chemicals being intentionally released and all), but I thought of the CSI episode when I saw all of the people dressed in animal costumes being herded (heh!) across the street to--of all things--a dog show. Until I saw the rubber doll episode, I had never heard of such a thing. I thought about looking it up, but I'm a little afraid.
  10. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the 'suit'. (that and the 'clown sex' episode from way, way back). Ick! Why did they not think of some type of mask as soon as they were examining the 'face-shaped' bloodstain on the pavement? You would think they would figure out that a mask was involved when they couldn't get anything from face recognition. I kept yelling 'it's a mask! It's a mask, idiots!' at the screen.
  11. Thank you! That's who I've been trying to think of. Those pizzas from Little Caesar's are definitely not gourmet, but they taste pretty good late on a Sunday night when you're tired and don't want to cook.
  12. I like the Little Caesar's Pizza commercial where the guy is on hold to order a pizza and he's listening to a song made up of random phrases such as 'you're holding for pizza, holding for pizza....' Then, when his wife comes in and says 'why don't we just go to Little Caesar's and get a 'hot 'n ready' pizza?' the song lyrics change to 'don't listen to your wife....'
  13. That kept bothering me, too. I thought at first that she was Jillian Armenante (she's been in lots of stuff and played Donna Kowlowski on 'Judging Amy'), but this was a different actress. She just reminded me of her. This episode was a little too soapy for me. The Paris flashbacks were ugh (at least they didn't have the cliché of showing the Eiffel Tower in the background. From TV and movies, you would think that every window in Paris has that view!)
  14. I don't know if it was better to miss some of it or all of it. For some reason, my DVR decided to record my local CBS station instead of Fox, so I got part of 'Scorption' (or something like that), the 'special report' and back to CBS. (The cable gods were really against me last night--since 'Dancing with the stars' went overtime by over ten minutes, I didn't even try to watch the 'Castle' episode I was recording. Even with extra minutes tacked on, I would have missed the ending.) I got the gist of what happened by reading the comments here, but when does Fox 'unlock' the latest episode and make it available for watching online?
  15. From 'The Puzzler in the Pit': Daisy: 'Umm, the baking soda made the remains smell nice and fresh.' and- (after he walked into the diner and heard Brennan conversing in Yiddish) Aubrey (looking confused, shrugging): 'I got nuthin'.'
  16. It was interesting that with fracking being in the news so much, the episode really had nothing to do with the whole issue (except for the fact that the body was in a pit with chemicals and the industry methods were briefly mentioned). I felt bad for the son at the end. 'Seely Sweets', huh? That poor kid. And, no wonder Daisy was screaming. That was one big baby she delivered (although it looked smaller when Booth was holding it. Maybe a different baby?).
  17. I liked it too, the first time I tasted it years ago. I think it was the first time I had eaten that sweet/salty combo (that was before I discovered how good pretzels with caramel dip were). I had never heard of this, so I googled it. It looks pretty good, actually (but the sprinkles would have be those soft 'frosting-tasting' kind, not the hard, crunchy kind).
  18. This made me laugh. I came here to see if anyone else noticed this, but I don't see that anyone else mentioned it, but when the camera panned down to show the bottom of the car as the gang was driving away, it looked to me like there was someone (something?) clinging to the underside of the car. It looked like some type of lump. Just me? Okay.
  19. I know! Was there any type of seasoning added? I love sweet potatoes, but they are sweet enough on their own so that you only need to add a little added sugar (and I use brown for a little stronger flavor). I don't know how you could make this without adding spices--at least cinnamon and some fresh nutmeg. I always thought that the strawberry-pretzel dish was a southern thing. It's in most of the southern cookbooks I have, although most call it a 'strawberry pretzel salad'.
  20. Raise your hand if you were surprised when Mark Valley's character turned out to be the killer's new assistant. No one? I didn't think so. I had hoped that this storyline would have been wrapped up by the end of the episode, but I guess it's going to be stretched out to the end of the season. At least next week doesn't look like a 'Gig Harbor Killer' (or whatever the name is) plot.
  21. I was kind of listening to this episode while I did some chores, but paid attention to her sweet potato casserole recipe. She talked about that recipe like it was really something different. It seemed to be the basic sweet potato casserole to me (maybe not putting marshmallows on top made it different?). I did think that putting an entire cup of sugar in the mixture was a little much. That was a lot of sugar. I think I usually put some brown sugar in mine (it's been a while since I made it). I think I usually put some orange juice in mine as well and cinnamon (and maybe nutmeg). Her version just seemed like the only flavor would be sweet. I do top mine with sweet pecans, though, but just some chopped pecans mixed with some brown sugar. Not really a streusel like hers.
  22. 3pwood, I probably will just make two of the recipe instead of doubling it (just to be safe). I was just thinking that I only had one pan, but I know I made it last time in a deep dish pie plate and I'm pretty sure I have a tart dish stashed somewhere. All this talk about gravy makes me want to attempt gravy-from-scratch this year.
  23. From 'The Griffin Equivalency': (When Sheldon smiles that horrendously creepy smile) Howard: 'Oh, crap, that's terrifying.' Leonard: 'We're here to see Koothrappali, not kill Batman.'
  24. Thanksgiving week is always such a short 'work week' (and, frankly, no one really gets much work done that week), so I was thinking of bringing in some food for everyone to snack on in the staff lounge. I might try a couple of new recipes for 'snack mix', flavored crackers, and the like. But, I have been wanting to bring Ina's Easy Apple and Cranberry Cake for everyone to try. But since we have a reasonably large staff I thought about doubling the recipe and making it in a large pan instead of the tart pan that the original recipe calls for. I'm wondering if it will still cook okay, as long as I check it periodically to make sure that it cooks through without overbrowning. Have any of you every made a larger version of that recipe?
  25. Ha, I knew the holidays were on the way when I saw my first Seymour Butts jewelry commercial. My favorite holiday commercials have always been the ones with food in them. I don't care if they are for products that I would not normally buy or recipes I would never make (such as marshmallow-topped casseroles), they all look good in the commercials. Butterball turkeys, McCormick spices, Pillsbury crescent rolls, etc. If the people or the music in them are annoying, I just concentrate on how good the food looks. Bring 'em on!
