  1. Uh, he broke the world record. And he skated the program of a lifetime. I think you should celebrate the little moments. I remember when Katya Gordeeva said that after she and Sergei won their first gold medal, he wanted to go out drinking with his buddies and she wanted to go to bed. So that's what they did. How sad.
  2. I guess she tested positive in DECEMBER, so that may be where the delay is.
  3. Sorta like the US AND LANCE FRICKIN' ARMSTRONG. I don't think Johnny will express anything but regret that we will not see Kamila in the long program. The news reporters will cover this.
  4. I watched the entire men's short program in its entirety on Peacock and it is incredibly long and boring (3 hours+!) Trust me, after you watch the second place skater from Slovenia and Micronesia with their lifeless performances, you appreciate the Top 10! NBC has gotten criticism for delaying coverage, so their answer is, "Fine, we'll show you Brian Boitano who unfortunately drew the first place and skates at 8 pm but skip the unknown skaters until we get to the leaders at 10!" They actually do less skipping around than at the last two Olympics.
  5. Just today, NBC said they want Leslie to do her commentary.
  6. Actually, the complaint in the past was that the RUSSIANS only did jump run-throughs and not entire programs so they got more tired than those who did the entire events. Probably Eteri put a stop to that. No, it doesn't wonder why viewership is down. Some longtime viewers are boycotting over Chinese politics, others don't like the time difference and having to stay up until midnight to see the finals. The Olympics also aren't the big deal they used to be when the plucky, poor Americans were the underdogs to the rich, professional Russians. The coverage is better than it has been. I don't mind Johnny and Tara one bit and neither do the CASUAL VIEWERS. They at least shut up during the ice dancing performances and they don't prattle on about the costumes like Peggy Fleming did. What I personally dislike is the American-centric coverage as if only FIVE AMERICANS are competing. I used to love the old days of ABC and CBS when we got interviews with Swiss archers and barefoot Kenyans.
  7. They stopped at 10:45 to go to NBC but still, between the two you could see all the competitors.
  8. Thank you for posting this! At 10:45, it moves to NBC.
  9. It was WAY too big! It obscured a quarter of the screen!
  10. When she's in St. Tropez, you can see the wide separation between them, especially since her ribs are showing. She's leaning over on an elbow, but the boobs aren't leaning. At all.
  11. And when you buy an eggplant, look at its bottom. If there is a round button, the eggplant is a male with fewer seeds. If there is a longer slit, it's a bitter female eggplant. (SERIOUSLY)
  12. What preoccupied me during the first show was Lily Collins' new boobs. She needed a better surgeon: they looked like two mountains separated by one wide river. But at least they're an appropriate cup size.
  13. Considering that the show is premiering on the HBO cable channel, I bet you'll be able to see it.
  14. I saw the listing, but it didn't say what program would be shown. That would be great--I think the US men's programs will be a lot more interesting than the women's!
  15. I couldn't find the men's short program on USA. Do you know when that will be on?
  16. Whoever decided to have the proposals with the crashing waves needs to be fired. At least mike them better! There could be a great parody of this where no one knows who she picked because they couldn't hear...
  17. Very true. My original post was addressed to those who seem to believe that NBC needs to stop proclaiming him the next Olympic champion BECUSE it is creating pressure ON HIM. No... NBC predicting a US gold medal is smart on their part because it will attract viewers. That's why they're in business. If Nathan can't handle the pressure, well, he's been through this once before so maybe gold isn't in his future. And Vincent seems to have the chops. The winner is the one who CAN handle the pressure--whether internal or external.

    Gymnastics

Well, we won no medals BEFORE the Karolyis and the US women's team coach in 1984 (Don Peters) was later accused of sexually abusing gymnasts. Once the Karolyis were here we started winning. If you want a comparison, look at the men's team in these last 35 years. If it's just hard work, the men should have won comparable medals. yet, not a one has reached his potential and the US has lost the big competitions with stupid mistakes. (Don't get me started on Sam Michulak.) (NOTE: THIS IS TO ANSWER THE QUESTION POSED BY THE QUOTE AS TO WHAT THEY BROUGHT TO US GYMNASTICS, NOT DEFEND THEM AGAINST OTHER CHARGES)
  19. Not really. The Olympics are not what they used to be. If it wasn't for Simone's issues, the Summer Olympics would have passed with barely a blip. I don't know anyone who actually watched them outside of fans dedicated to specific sports. They are no longer Must-See TV. As for the Winter Olympics, few people even know they will be on this February. And men's figure skating was NEVER as popular as women's skating. The best he can hope for after winning is Dancing with the Stars and a tour in Japan. Hopefully, he can get his head together. If not, there are plenty of others waiting in the wings. In any case, he has a full life ahead of him.
  20. I totally get that. At the same time, during my second viewing I noticed other take-offs that I didn't see the first time!
  21. UP is actually showing my all-time favorite holiday movie: A CHRISTMAS MOVIE CHRISTMAS about a Christmas Movie devotee and her cynical sister who end up in a dream sequence of actually LIVING in a Christmas movie. No holiday movie cliche is overlooked: in one sequence, they are walking down the street and getting annoyed by all the handsome men carrying stacks of presents who keep bumping into them. And they are visiting an aunt who is making a gingerbread house and every time you see her, she has created an elaborate scene like Fifth Avenue, a complete circus etc. It would be fun to count them all! (Or have a drinking game) It will be on Halloween night, 9 pm EST; Nov. 21, 9 pm and Dec. 22, 5 pm.
  22. FYI: The entire series of movies/hour-long episodes will be shown this coming week. The hour longs will be run in order 3-5 pm EST M-F with the movies starting Thursday with the rarely shown Signed Sealed Delivered for Christmas at 7 pm EST and the original one at 11 am Saturday followed by the rest Saturday until 11 pm in a marathon and Sunday.
  23. Traditionally, POC get voted off early in the game. And remember the season when ALL the POC were voted off first and were watching the others play (I think one would make it back?) It made for a very uncomfortable visual.
  24. Based on his comments, though, I think he is more obsessed with how little doctors address obesity and diet with THEIR PATIENTS. As he once noted on the show, medical students get almost no education on how diet affects everything from high blood pressure to diabetes.
  25. The US Men's Team is an embarrassment. A history of dumb mistakes, choking in clutch performances and a lot of hubris. No wonder Simone didn't want them on her tour. Let them live up to their potential and then they'll be the main attraction.
