If I ever get myself to New York City in the next year or so, I definitely want to see BOTH Sunset Blvd and Gypsy.  The only question is HOW will I do that with a kid?  I also want to expose him to theatre, and with a six year old, you're going to The Lion King, not the other shows!  Gypsy is priority because, you know, Audra (is this the first time they cast an attractive actress as Mama Rose?  Because I've always thought of her as a bit...frumpy.  And Audra is nowhere NEAR frumpy.  In fact, I think she's more Norma Desmond than Mama Rose).

Do not bring your kid to see Sunset. It isn't appropriate and will surely both confuse and frighten them, trust me.

Ouch to Mamma Rose being "frumpy"! Angela, Bernadette, Betty Lyn and Patti were/are all attractive gals!

All ladies play Rose a little dowdy though. She's an exciting character part, not a glamorous part.

I'm still not sure what to make of Nicole Scherzinger's Norma.

Neither is she.

I saw it on Saturday. It was bonkers.

Yup.

The hype surrounding Sunset is unearned.

Did anyone see Mama I'm a Big Girl Now? That looks like a fun time.

I'm sorry I'm going to miss Suffs since I won't be there till the end of January.  I'm trying to talk my friend into seeing Maybe Happy Ending with us, but if I can't, we may go anyway.

We got tickets to see Paul Mescal in Streetcar in March.  Looking forward to it!

The Notebook's Broadway run ended today but it's going to go on tour.  I hope they'll make a Toronto stop.  However, I'm unsure if I'm going to be able to handle it.  I've listened to the cast recording and was crying within the first song.

I've heard mixed things actually. Everyone loves her, sure, but this production isn't perfect. Her voice isn't ideally suited for the role either.

People really rave about stuff lately that isn't nearly as amazing as they make it out to be.

Same here.  I saw some scenes on CBS Sunday Morning last week, and I thought her voice was too low.  I'm not going to see this one.

I decided to rewatch the London production with Imelda Staunton.  It's really good.  It was filmed for PBS.

I never saw Imelda's.  The only version I saw was the made-for-TV movie with Bette Midler as Mama Rose.  So Mama Rose to me is Bette.

Which kinda goes with my previous post - I saw the Imelda Staunton production on PBS and let's just say I won't be rewatching.

I'll be sure to let you know how I feel about Audra at the end of January 😄

Or maybe it's amazing to them, which is all that really matters.

Also, Darren Criss was on CBS Sunday Morning today.  He's delightful.  I'm really looking forward to seeing Maybe Happy Ending!

My Mom and I take my nephews to NYC every year to see a show and for lunch and (also Schmackery's) we saw it last Saturday.  My youngest nephew said it was the best of everything they've seen!

And he's now 21!!!!!

Sorry to miss you. What museums? If you like the Cooper hewitt just a heads up that the Triennial started in November and goes through the summer. CH 's Triennial are my favorite

The NY Historical Society is my favorite museum anywhere.  Don't ask me why, I just love it, so we always go there.  Possibly the Met - I have to see what's showing.  I also like the Transit Museum, but Brooklyn is soooooo far away. 😄

Thanks for the CH link - that looks really interesting.  There's a good chance we might wander over to see it!
