She convinced Phoebe to go with her and they planned to “take Joey.” Not that any of that actually happened. And I don’t recall anyone outside of Rachel and Phoebe discussing it. The taking Joey discussion was just Rachel and Phoebe but the part about possibly being phased out like Kip was with all the friends minus Ross. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8496552
akiss November 2 Share November 2 Ross talked to Rachel and told her that he would be the one to back out of the group when Emily would eventually come. Rachel responded that even that would not be okay because she wouldn’t get to hang out with Ross. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497140

I actually think she said that would never work because Monica was his sister and Chandler his college roommate. Then she made her comment how she always felt like Phoebe would be the first to go. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497311

Well, obviously there are exceptions but I’m talking about this type of breakup scenario. My brother would not have liked it if I’d remained friends with his ex. So I picked him over her, that’s how it had to go. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497331

Ross and Rachel had moved on (theoretically anyway) but the group had remained intact. The time for Monica to pick a side had already come and gone. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497353

Yes, but the subject was Emily demanding Ross to cut ties with Rachel. Which is pretty much how a breakup goes. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497380

For me it wasn't so much that Emily wanted him to cut ties with Rachel, although that would have been difficult for the reasons mentioned above, it was the fact that she wanted to know where he was ALL the time. That's just ridiculous. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8497469

Rachel could’ve moved out and found another apartment (unless she spent money like Carrie Bradshaw). Rachel certainly should not have to find another apartment because Ross's wife didn't want him hanging out with her. The solution to Emily's issue was for Ross to tell her that Rachel would be around but he would not hang out with her alone ever again. Instead he spent the days leading up to Emily's arrival going to the movies, etc. with just Rachel. Which I never recalled them doing in the past. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8520024

Spartan Girl November 29 Share November 29 We can laugh at Ross and Monica’s parents in that episode, but the Thanksgiving flashback episode they really come off as assholes. “Monica, finish off these pies, I don’t have any room in the fridge.” “Well, Judy, you did it: she’s finally full.” I know they played favorites with Ross but JFC making fun of Monica’s weight like that? 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8520491

TBS does all of the Thanksgiving eps throughout the day, and I tape them to watch at night while I wrap Christmas gifts. This year they included one post-Thanksgiving ep - the one with Ross's sandwich! I'm so excited 😄. He's so funny, and in this case I totally take his side and see his point! Cattoy November 29 Share November 29 As bad as Rachel's beef trifle sounds, it turns out there is a British dessert that isn't too far from that recipe. Look up "Lady Betty's Delight" on Youtube. English Heritage has a Victorian cooking show, and the recipe is ... well, it brings to mind Rachel's trifle. Plus, the show is a hoot. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8520781

I too know the pain of clinging to one small thing to look forward to when the rest of your life is crap, only to have it snatched away. Ross’ boss was an idiot. You don’t take someone else’s sandwich, then throw the rest away. That being said, he still should’ve known better than to use Phoebe’s threat—seriously, the things they let Phoebe get away with was just mind-blowing. mmecorday December 3 Share December 3 Forgive me if this has been addressed before. I watched the pilot episode last night and though we are told that Monica and Rachel lost touch with one another after high school, I wonder why Monica wasn't invited to Rachel's wedding. The only reason I can come up with is that Rachel's cheapskate father capped the guest list to save money. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89642-friends-general-discussion/page/67/#findComment-8523686
