He was there but all the press mistook him for a hobo and didn't take his photo?

Seriously though, I would dearly like to know the answer to this.

The other person who wasn't there was Berens (the other half of WS) is guess he was there.  Could it be because Mark Pedowitz  and Peter Roth were there?

Or he is furiously rewriting the 300th episode because evidently the first draft had to be heavily revamped.

I believe Berens was there.

Even if Dabb couldn't make it, he could have sent a tweet thanking the cast and crew.

Was he?  Oh right he had pics with Ruth.

What Dabb congratulate his cast and crew?  How would that be about him?

Jess from Tree Topper was there and said Dabb wasn't thee for some personal reason and not because didn't want to be there.  She wouldn't specify.

What else could anyone say?  "Oh, Dabb's not here because of the terrible way he was treated by the president of The CW"? Or "Dabb's not here because someone may ask him about the abrupt 'Michael' storyline"? You get the idea...

Unless there was a death or emergency in the family and he had to leave town immediately, he should have at least made an appearance, or at the very least sent a congratulatory (and apologetic) message--if not at the time, then in the following days.  Dead silence doesn't sound (or look) good for someone who supposedly likes (and wants to keep) his job.

Doesn't bother me one bit, doubt anyone on the show will begrudge him this at all.

I don’t think that any of us can say if they’ll be cool with it or annoyed by it. Personally I think it’s a little tacky to not even make a statement one way or another.

Yes, not making it to the party, there may be very understandable extenuating circumstances.  But unless he's dead himself, there really is no excuse for not even making a statement of some sort acknowledging the achievement.

I don't care personally, but in terms of office politics...

If the Big Shots of a company are coming from out of town to celebrate something done by one part of the company (let's say Pedowitz and Roth were the CEOs and SPN is one of the departments  in the company they oversee) and have created an enormous publicity event to honor it, the Department Head (ie, Dabb) had better have one damned good excuse to not be there.  Imagine a huge PR event to honor your local police department for something spectacular, and the Chief of Police decided not to show up for "personal reasons" and didn't even send a congratulatory message.

Odd that nothing was announced regarding Dabb's absence.  Maybe they did....?  But nothing mentioned in tweets or articles.

I mean, it's a big deal.  Why wasn't he there or his absence even explained?

I'm reading all kinds of stuff into it.... which I can hope for but cannot post here.

Dabb’s absence  is terrible which ever way you look at it. They were celebrating a show that has kept him employed for at least the last 10 years, which he is now the runner of.

Or his mother could be dying, or his child needs treatment for something or or or.... shit happens in real life.  Just because we don't know doesn't mean he's a snubbing the show.  Personal reasons could be overwhelming right now.

Have you ever had to 'peace out' for a few weeks and deal with family issues?  I have.  It could be as simple as that.

When my niece was in the hospital last year and I had to fly cross country on one hour's notice, even after she died the next day, I still had to notify my office and cancel various appointments for the time I'd be away.  I realize it's hard to get a celebratory tone when you're overwhelmed, but a simple text of "Sorry I can't be there to honor this achievement" shouldn't be that hard.

ETA: Especially since he apparently did notify someone he wouldn't be there for "personal reasons."  All he had to do was add a "give my regards/congratulations."

It's not so much that we didn't hear from Dabb.  Yes, he could be overwhelmed with a personal event. I can appreciate his not attending for all manner of reasons which I would respect.

My point is that his absence was not explained  or mentioned (apparently) by anyone anywhere.  A simple "Andrew sends his regrets and best wishes and congratulations..." something like that.  Or Andrew Dabb was not in attendance due to personal reasons.  That type of thing.

Anyhoo it looked like a fantastic night for all.

OTOH, I think Dabb may be Asperger's, and social niceties don't always compute.  That could also explain a lot of his behavior/interactions.  JMO.

A function like the 300th celebration could be overwhelming for him maybe?  But his absence still should've been explained somehow.  He is the damn showrunner after all.  Photo after photo on twitter and not one  - Showrunner Andrew Dab was unable to attend.

All the photos, articles, red carpet etc., and him not included and no one says why.  It's odd.

No one even mentioned his name as far as I can tell.  Maybe he was fired?

Even Kripke, who no longer is involved in the show at all that I know of, managed to send his regrets that he couldn't attend.  Dabb could have had an assistant or anyone send his regrets on SM on his behalf.  Honestly, it's a 5 minute effort at most.  It's very peculiar that neither he nor someone on his behalf addressed his absence.

Apparently someone did because that's how we know 'did not attend for personal reasons'.  If there's no scandal, why make a deal out of it the press.  Yes, he could have sent a tweet -- so there may be some drama we don't know about - but I'm not ready to hang him for the lack of tweet without knowing rationale.

We have no idea why he wasn't there and he could have said or sent something personal that we don't know about.

I had a major health issue and no one really knew including my boss.  what was really going on because I didn't understand what was going on.  I worked half days and just enough full days that I didn't have to ask for permission. They knew it was serious and just said make sure I have a sub.  I had the days but really I should have gone on leave. I didn't.  Most of my coworkers didn't even notice I was missing so much... So I won't say Dabb is being terrible in anything because I don't know the man and I don't know what he has or hasn't communicated with anyone.  I wouldn't get my hopes up that he is being fired because that sounds like rumors to me, JMV.

Kripke didn't show up to the 100th, and it turned out he was leaving.  Should be be so lucky?

Lucky ?

We all know who's taking over if Dabb leaves lol

We're screwed unless the Singer dynasty retires.

I'm not hanging him out to dry. I've made no commentary to that effect. All I said is that I think it's weird he didn't tweet something to the masses considering that he or his assistants tweet to same said masses every week about the show. His absence and his absence on SM about his absence is weird.  That's all I'm saying.  Nothing more. Nothing less.

I don't really give a flying f why he wasn't there. The optics of ignoring such a publicized event are bad. I expect nothing better from him as far as Supernatural goes though. Bet if it was the 100th time one of his waywards appeared on the screen he'd be all over it, even from his deathbed.

I hope for Yockey because at least he seems to be a mostly competent writer which doesn't necessarily mean he be a good showrunner but I think he does try to have balanced writing for the most part.  And Yockey and Meredith Glynn were there.  If it's a matter of Dabb not being good with social situations like a party, he could have easily tweeted that to this fandom and they would 100% understand.

Dabb's assistant was there.  She could have tweeted on his behalf if he's in a situation where it wasn't possible. That fact that he couldn't send out a simple congrats tweet, for me is telling

I'm not going to try to interpret this, because it's possible that he's sick/in the hospital himself and unable to comment, but it looks like Dabb hasn't tweeted anything since Nov. 15 with those horrible romance cover things, which were blasted by almost everyone (and his "likes,"  which had been running about 700-800, went to *94*.)

So maybe he got in trouble.  Maybe he's sick.  Maybe he's hiding, or sulking.

But even if WB/the CW didn't want to mention him for whatever reason (did they?), he (or his assistant, on his behalf) still should have acknowledged the cast/crew for their achievement.  Something is off.  JMO.

Something I noticed is that apparently he is co-writing episode 300 now with Meredith Glynn. As far as I understood it earlier was that he was writing that episode by himself. Now it`s co-writing. I mean, I will kinda take that as positive news -for episode 300, at least. I dreaded it. Still kinda do. Couldn`t tell from the vid if Jensen was actually excited for it or if it was just promotional talk.

Giving the kindest interpretation, he's having health issues and unable to do as much.  And from my POV, that would be a good excuse for him to bow out of the showrunner role while still keeping his reputation/credibility.  *fingers crossed*

That is interesting because that is what happened when Carver left.  Dabb/Berens co wrote Red Meat in order for Berens to write the horrible E22 and Dabb the almost as bad finale.  I generally like Meridiths writing so fingers crossed for 300.
