patty1h May 31 Share May 31 (edited) The show covered the case of Chandler Haldersen, the ungrateful son who killed his parents to cover his web of lies. Even after seeing other shows cover this case, listened to several podcasts, I watched this episode because Chandler intrigues me because he seems like a classic sociopath. The episode didn't really reveal anything new, just fleshed out 2 hours with lots of clips from news stories when this case was active and the 20/20 host questioning various law enforcement personnel on the investigation. Backstory for those not familiar: Chandler lied about going to college, didn't have a cool job at SpaceX, faked a fall down a flight of stairs as a ruse to not being able to start this non-existent job - he spent his days playing video games and sending faked memos to his dad to cover his tracks. When his dad started getting close to finding out the truth, Chandler chopped up his parents in their home and tried burning them in the fireplace. When that didn't work out too well, he hauled their corpses to a nearby forest and left them there. This guy was lazy in even trying to cover his tracks - didn't even bury the poor parents. He played the innocent son, even going door to door in his neighborhood asking people if they caught anything on their Ring doorbells. What a creep. This guy showed no remorse and pled not guilty and I love that all of his lies were eventually uncovered and this murdering scumbag is behind bars. Justice for Christa and Bart. I saw this as less playing the innocent, and more of him being concerned if his neighbor’s cameras had caught him in a way that would point to his guilt. If he drove at times he said he was home, etc. Although his friendly little wave at each neighbor’s doorbell would lead his neighbors to think he was a worried son. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8676060
kitmerlot1213 June 9 Share June 9 Re: the episode "I Have Killed for You" I can't believe Bonnie Woodward would have someone as emotionally immature as the stepdaughter Heather be a babysitter for her two young grandkids. I have a feeling Heather simply didn't like being told what to do and she especially didn't want to do chores, so I doubt her claims of being treated like "slave labor and a live in babysitter" are especially accurate. She is not responsible for Roger Caroll's actions but I wonder if she feels any guilt about Bonnie's murder. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8681836

I think Heather might have cognitive issues or, possibly be "on the autism spectrum"...I'm not sure she has the ability to formulate concepts to the level that would be required to feel "guilt" about Bonnie's death anymore than she did making up the probably false claim about Bonnie's supposed "abuse." 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8681954
TVbitch June 9 Share June 9 I was wondering the whole time whether Heather's presentation was an act or not. If she did have issues or autism, you would think they would have told us that. Regardless, she did come off as almost infantile, and I can't believe that man would decide that what she said was justification to kill someone without investigating the situation further. Also can't believe he let the defense go after his son as the murderer. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8682068

Murderers don't have the highest ethical standards...wonder what else he tried to hide using his son as a shield... 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8682093
Pi237 June 9 Share June 9 (edited) I definitely feel Heather was faking. I’ve never seen a person on the autism spectrum narrate themselves like that. “I have to pee, Mr Bear” She was intentionally speaking in that little girl voice when alone, knowing the camera was there. The autistic people Ive known or seen, granted not many, don’t narrate their actions. And when left alone tend to go silent and inward. She was performing for the cameras. I was surprised she wasn’t found to be in on it. Edited June 9 by Pi237 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8682197
GiandujaPie June 11 Share June 11 This was definitely a weird case. The motive was really unclear and not very strong. I just don't believe that Roger killed Bonnie just because he believed she was abusing Heather. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8683248
Madding crowd June 12 Share June 12 I wondered about the motive too. I thought maybe something was going on with Roger and Heather but we never got a real motive. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/8458-2020/page/48/#findComment-8683849
