Hey, maybe Kyle is Cane’s son. They’re both selfish dickweeds who wallow in their feels while the Abbott family falls apart. Geez, Ashby, maybe give it a day before blundering into Jack’s business. I didn’t feel like the show gave the impression that anyone blamed Charlie but himself.

Why can't ButtBiscuit put those nostrils of death to good use and just vacuum Cane up like the asshole dust bunny he is?

Poor Charlie - I mean that - but him feeling bad about his clip compilation gone wrong is nothing compared to what the Abbotts are going through.  For him to lumber in with his bloated sense of entitled parenthood and make this all about him and his son's feelings is just ludicrous, but just like the blowhole that cow tipper really is.  What an ass.

I agree. Wth was with Cane? This is tone deaf Mal again. The Ashby Winters clan know Jack and the Abbotts very well. They would have said “whoa Charlie maybe that clip should not have been there. Did Abby really ok it?” He could have said “I have no clue how it got there.” They could have speculated on the sabotage and  “oh yeah how obvious it was not you Charlie because those were bad edits amid smooth ones. Poor Jack holy fuck.” DONE.

I think Mal meant to have Cane an outsider state at the end: THIS IS AN  INTERNAL ABBOTT FAMILY PROBLEM. Dundundun

Instead Cane looked like a clueless self-centred ASSHAT. Which isn’t a stretch but robbed from the real drama of the episode.

There is no amount of revenge that will satisfy the prick.

What the fuck does Victor need to avenge? Jack saved his ugly, worthless life in all likelihood. Mal is writing Victor now as a shriveled up version of old man Potter from Pottersville in It's a Wonderful Life now. He's just disgustingly vile for no reason. He's just the essence of corrupt - sort of like some in the world spotlight. YOu mentioned that loathsome Martin Shkreli, well Kyle might be Genoa City's very own version, but he's the Mini Me to Victor's fully developed septuagenarian distillation of a suppurating anal boil.

Okay, good, I'm not the only one puzzled and put off here. The juxtaposition of the AshbyHappyFamily shite [and for a moment I thought Lily/Cane had come up with one of those Eiffel Tower models for Charlie--I mean, tradition, right?] with the rich detailing and good acting of the Abbott scenes [deduct .5 for NotBilly's counselling service/apologia] was not a good choice. In spades. And, I recall thinking that if a younger relative had made a film which suddenly included scenes that caused havoc for family friends at a private screening, I might be a bit too concerned to zip out for a chocolate mousse en famille. Mal, the emperor of obvious.

Um, Cane is an arsewipe, as we used to say. An between him and Jaws McKyle, the acting quality just zooms from A to B.

Toomuchsoap, you are asking logical questions. What does Victor need to avenge? Well, Jack continues to exist despite Victor’s valiant efforts to the contrary. And no matter his fuck ups, Jack continues to be a better man and all around superior human being. This appears to rub the gruesome gargoyle the wrong way. Whatever sins Victor imagines Jack has committed against his unholy self, you’d think the Marco incident would have slaked Victor’s thirst for punishing his enemy. Victor has a disturbing obsession with breaking Jack’s will. The scabby lech should be sealed inside a wall in the Newman wine cellar, Poe-style, for the benefit of society.

It’s a new day in GC.

Ash welcomes Abby in the morning, and they agree no one has had much sleep.  They have a coffee in the dining room.  They talk about Jack going off on Dina, and discuss how they destroyed the memory card in the fire.  Abby asks how Jack is and Ash says she has let him sleep in; no one knows better than she how disturbing this news has been.  Jack arrives in the dining with a cheery Good Morning, and Ash, surprised, asks him where he is going.  He says to work, of course.  He says he is not going to let the demented ramblings of his sick mother and one flawed DNA test ruin his day or his life.

At HWG Lily and Tessa are preparing for a pre-screening of models.  They are looking for a woman and man who can portray a believable couple in love.  Two are rehearsing behind them.  Hil arrives carrying a box of gifts from her fans, and the male model wants to help her and is flirting.  Lily tells him Hil is taken, and Hil is pleasantly surprised.

Ash assures Jack the tests are correct, she trusts the lab tech.  Jack questions it, saying no one asked him for a cheek swab.  They say they used hair samples from his and Traci’s brushes.  He scoffs at this, saying anyone, including Mrs. Martinez or Dina or a nurse, could have used those brushes.  He says it proves nothing except that he and Traci don’t have the same father.  He snarks that maybe none of Dina’s children have John as a father, it could be, she lived quite a swinging lifestyle.  Ash shushes him, saying Dina might hear him.  Ash says she knows he is in denial, she was too. It took her years to accept the truth.

At the GCAC bar, Devon and Neil are having a bottle of water discussing the night before.  Neil explains that Charlie never saw that footage and handed the approved film over.  Whoever changed it did a fast and clumsy edit.  Devon asks, who could have done it and why?  Neil tells Devon, since Prick is their client, he should know that Prick was the only non-family member present outside of the Winters and Abbotts.  He explains that Prick invited himself.  Jack didn’t kick him out because of Dina.  Neil says no one hates Jack as much as Prick does, and it would be just like him to want to watch a train wreck in progress.  Neil says word about Jack has not gotten out, but it is a matter of time.

Ash tells Jack that pretending it is not true is not going to solve anything.  Abby says that they understand how hard this is but they just want what is best for him.  Jack tells his niece that those are lovely words.  Then he lays out that they could have been the ones that manufactured the whole thing, as payback for the blood Abbott clause.  They could have tampered with the movie, put ideas in Dina’s head during the interviews.  He suggests that Abby looked through the footage, found what she wanted, and called her mom saying they have what they need for the perfect revenge.  A frustrated Abby asks Jack why he is being such a jerk.  She says no one was out to hurt him.  They screened the movie and that scene wasn’t in there.  He rebuts saying that either of them could have dropped it into the movie and then embarrassed him in front of the Winters, and in front of Prick of all people.  Ash tells him to stop it.  Abby says they have been where he is and they wanted to spare him the anguish.  They thought they had destroyed the footage and that is her biggest regret.  Jack doesn’t believe a word of it and suggests that Ash could have had a copy that Abby didn’t know about.  He says she could have gotten Ravi to do it saying: that poor lovesick kid is still eating out of your hand! Hah! Abby says Ash never once talked about getting even with Jack, even when she was at her lowest, and he replies that they are a real pair, and asks if they think he was born yesterday.  And he stomps out.  Abby sighs.

At HWG, male model guy tells Hil he hopes he didn’t offend her.  Then, Hil wants to know why Lily said that about her being taken.  Hil says she sounded protective.  Hil says maybe Lily is a teensy weensy bit excited about the baby, and that maybe she will be throwing her a baby shower soon.  Lily tells Hil not to hold her breath.

Back at the GCAC, Devon wants to know if Neil is going to ask Prick if he ambushed Jack.  Neil says it is none of his business and he doesn’t want to get between his two best friends.  WTF?  Prick is his best friend?  Devon says he has to go, he is having lunch with Simone.  Devon tells Neil that he took his advice, and made a commitment to Hilary, that they are in this parenting thing together and he is on board, wherever this ride takes them.

At the Abbott manse, Abby is upset by what Jack said to them, and Ash explains that he is just lashing out.  He is in shock.  Abby says she still wants to know what happened.  After they burned the drive, Abby had checked the fireplace and there was nothing but ashes.  Ash says obviously someone stole a copy of the file, they may never know who.  Abby says it is driving her crazy.  She wonders who would benefit most from Jack’s downfall.  Really, Abby?  And another thing, where is Traci?  Shouldn’t she be part of this convo seeing as once again the Abbotts have left her out? She should be the one whining, not Kyle.  Her siblings continue to leave her out of major family happenings.

AT HWG, Hil is enjoying her baby gifts from her fans and Neil arrives.  He tells her that he has been encouraging Devon to be a good parent, even though he is determined to have it both ways, and reveals that Devon is having lunch right now with Simone. Hil looks annoyed.

Devon is having lunch with Simone at the GCAC.  They talk about how it has been a long time.  She admits that other companies have been pursuing her but she wants to stay with HWG because of the perques.

Abby shows up at Lily’s office and wants to assure her that no one blames Charlie.  Lily expresses sympathy for the Abbotts and for Jack and mentions that Abby and her mom just went through this themselves after the awards dinner.  She says that she still sees all of them as Abbotts.  Aw, Lily, that’s great, I am sure Jack will be thrilled.  Hil overhears that they are talking about something juicy but Lily tells her to get lost.  Then Lily invites Abby to join in the pre-screening of the models.

Ash is at CL and Ravi joins her. He invited her to meet him there.  He tells her it is all over Jabot about Jack.  Turn out, the projectionist is related to someone in shipping.  Ravi says he needs to confess his part in this.

Back at the GCAC, Jack is drinking at the bar and Neil espies him and decides to intrude, er, be a friend.  He orders a club soda.  Jack tells Neil he pulled into his parking spot at Jabot and then decided he needed a few stiff drinks instead.  Neil tries to be supportive and Jack gets agitated and says he is John Abbott’s son, that they had a special connection, he taught him about life, about business.  They would go to the cabin and have these walks, and his dad told him one day he would be the head of the Abbott family.  Neil tells him word about this is bound to get out, how is he going to handle it?  Jack says if he didn’t care, he wouldn’t be sitting in a bar in the middle of the workday.  He explains that Abby knew weeks ago and went straight to Ash.  He tells him about the DNA test, that he says was flawed.  He says maybe Traci is not the real Abbott, given the number of men their mother slept with.  Neil tells him drinking isn’t going to help.  He encourages him to get another test, to be proactive, get on with his life.

Ash is upset and asks Ravi if he edited that clip into the film. He says he would never have done so but may have inadvertently helped the person who did.  He tells her that someone came to him at Jabot with a damaged memory card and asked him to retrieve the files.  Normally he would have reviewed the entire file, but he was so swamped at work, he didn’t.  If he had viewed, he swears he would have come to her with it.  She says she trusts him.  He tells her the memory card was burned and that it was Kyle who brought it to him.

Devon tells Simone that he wants to honour the agreement he made with Hilary, he doesn’t want to go back on his word.  Simone says she wants to pursue this relationship, even if Hil is pregnant.

Abby and Tessa and Lily are pre-screening the young models. Abby coaches them.  The couple is terrible.  Devon walks in and Abby decides to demonstrate with Devon.  Hilary walks in and sees this and you can see the claws coming out of her fingers.  Tessa and Lily think it was hot.  Hilary shuts it down, saying point made.  Abby leaves after thanking Devon for being her partner and Hilary scowls.  Hilary sarcastically says it must be her lucky day, first Devon has lunch with Simone and then he is cozying up with Abby.  Why, Hilary, is this any of your business?  Sigh.  Devon tells Tessa to cancel all of Simone’s upcoming press tour, saying she is no longer on contract.  What a doofus.  Devon tells Hil that he released Simone from her contract at her request.   She wanted to remain involved with him but he didn’t think it was a good idea so they parted ways, personally and professionally.  He explains that he broke it off because things were getting too complicated; he needs to be focussed on being a father and doesn’t have time to be nurturing a new relationship.  Hilary is ecstatic and says:  you did it for “us”.  He says “us” being her, him and the baby, yes, but then he tells her not to read too much into it.  She says okay, but she cannot hide her elation.

Jack tells Neil about Dina’s delusions of being the perfect wife and mother, and how angry it made him, and he is ashamed that he let her have it.  Jack says it is not her fault her brain won’t function anymore.  Still, he cannot forgive her being unfaithful to John and being an absentee mother.  Neil encourages Jack to stop looking for answers in the bottom of a glass and do something that will end speculation.  He tells him to do it for himself and for everyone that is counting on him. Jack says that Neil is right, he is going to prove once and for all that he is John Abbott’s son, and he thanks Neil and leaves.

Abby arrives at the Abbott manse and Ash tells her it was Kyle who retrieved the memory card.  Ash recalls that Kyle was there the day that they burned the memory card.  She says the moral of the story is too use a hammer next time.  Abby cannot understand why Kyle would want to change the film when it shows that he is not a blood Abbott.  She gets that he is vindictive but why would he want to blow up his own life?  Ash nods in agreement.

So Jack has voiced all the problems with the DNA test. So will he get another one done properly? And tested against whom?  Now that Victor and EvilKyle are involved no DNA test can be trusted.

And who will bring up the blood clause (now that Jack is in denial) to oust him? Kyle? I guess he will.

Oh man this is a bad story. All to give Peter some big scenes? I mean I love Peter to death but I’m positive another story could have showcased his acting chops.

Back when Abby and Ashley used hair samples for Jack's paternity test, I questioned as Jack did today the accuracy of it. I have no idea how they would know for sure the hair samples were Jack's and Tracy's. Not to mention with Dina's track record, who knows if John is Tracy's father? The whole story line is stupid.

I had a WTF reaction to Neil telling Hillary that he is encouraging Devon to be a good parent. Neil is acting like Hillary got pregnant by accident and Devon is an unwilling father-to-be.  Devon wants to be a daddy so badly he is willing to have a baby with a woman that half the time he can't stand. And willing to make multiple attempts in more than one way. Is Neil hitting the bottle again? Because that statement made no sense at all.

Still say the last shot of the show should be Prick grabbing Jack and kissing him.

My cuz- still watching - had a fun idea. Maybe Tracy is not only NOT John's but Victor's. Explains why her kid's heart was such a perfect match. They could do a long last -Tracy threatens to repossess that heart and blame Prick for her death and ask how many of his 'fambly' he's going to kill.

but nooooo.....that might be interesting

Unlike with Bill and Ridge over on B&B, I don’t think the attraction is mutual between Victor and Jack. The ending that would capture the true flavor of the show is Victor frenching his reflection in a mirror.

Ashley and Abby are being so incredibly stubborn about the accuracy of that DNA test, like they personally ran the samples themselves and their reputation as lab techs are at stake. We’ve crossed the senseless idiocy horizon with just how hardcore resistant they are to Jack doing another test. No wonder he’s suspicious.

Well, honestly, they only viable way at this point that any of the "Abbott" siblings could be tested would be for the family to have John's remains exhumed and samples extracted. As the writers referenced in the exchange between Ashley and Jack, those hairbrushes are not useful because they could have been used by anyone in that household inadvertently. And it would be grievously wrong for any of them to think that Traci was the only candidate to test and compare with against their collective DNA samples. That logic is flawed in that Traci could as likely have been conceived by some other man as any of the rest of them. One thing has been carefully and consistently established: Dina was a serial adulteress. She was cheating with multiple partners from early in her marriage to John (and probably on her wedding day with the Best Man!), and she was cheating on him the day she walked out of the house and away from her young children. Everyone believes (I don't understand why) that Traci is the one to use to obtain a DNA comparison, but there is Beely. Actually, he should be tested as well. All of them should have their DNA tested and compared against John's DNA and no one else. If they don't have the stomach to have his body exhumed and samples obtained to do that, then they should just forget about it.

And it's the writers' hamfisted plot point apparently. It doesn't make sense as you note. But this gives me some hope that perhaps all of them will be tested soon. Who knows, maybe they'll all turn out to be John's and Dina was just mistaken. Conception in the busy bed (or wherever) of Madame Dina Abbott Mergeron would have been pretty dicey back in the day, because we are talking about the mid-to late '50s when people knew where babies come from but little about the biological intricacies and no one had even heard about such a thing as human DNA, because no such thing had been retrieved, examined and named.

You know, I've had this ineffable sense of something missing on this show, and now you've named it! Thanks. Wow, I guess Sam has been written off the show now, the last remaining vestige of SSM's era. Maybe Chelsea took him with her to keep Connor company.

I don't want to keep beating a dead horse here, and I'll quit after this, but I am in the camp that believes since Mal has started this Abbott fiasco, that the most poignant "twist" would actually be to have it revealed that Traci is not John's child, and this is why. Everyone loves Traci. She is the essence of John Abbott's goodness, grace and dignity. She is compassionate and loyal, tender and sensible. She is the embodiment of her father and is the touchstone proof that it's nurturing that develops the individual. It would make total sense for Traci to be the one most like her father because he, along with Mamie, are the ones who raised, nurtured and instructed her in life in the absence of her erstwhile mother. And of all the siblings, she is the one who could most deal with such a revelation, because she is the most grounded and her faith in and love for John would remain unshakable and the devotion of her siblings toward her unchanged.

In the absence of popcorn at the premiere of Le Clippe Film of Sexy Times for Seniors, directed and edited by Genoa City's avant-garde auteur, Charlie "Deer-in-the-Headlights Ashby, (it's a film, NOT a movie),  Victor, feeling peckish, noshed down on Lil' Sam, assuming he was the preferred snack for this epic drama.

It’s a new day in GC, in fact it is Mother’s Day.  There were some pretty good moments today.

Dina is surrounded by the Abbott women in the living room at the manse.  Ash presents her with a perfume that she blended specially for her, a one of a kind.  Dina is delighted and thanks Ash, but is confused, saying, it’s not Christmas again, is it?  Traci tells her it’s Mother’s Day and they wanted to spend this special day with her.  Dina thinks that is very nice, but asks Traci if she doesn’t have her own mother to spend the day with and Traci reassures her that she will.  Abby, btw, looks beautiful in a gorgeous spring dress and with her hair up.  Jack arrives, and Abby says they were afraid he wouldn’t make the celebration and he replies he wouldn’t have missed it for the world.  Jack is full of piss and vinegar and announces to Dina that he picked up something special on the way home, something that sums up perfectly her relationship with her children.  Ash and Traci try to stop him, but he barrels along saying he has a receipt from the DNA lab, that he had a swab taken to be tested to answer the question once and for all whether he is an Abbott.  Dina is oblivious, mesmerized by her gift from Ash.  Traci shoots Jack a dirty look.

At Sharon’s, she and Nick are flirting and kissing in the living room, and Mariah walks down the stairs.  She is sure she walked in on something.  They gloss over it, and he says he is planning a special meal for their celebration later.  He asks Mariah to go to the store to get sassafras.  She is skeptical but agrees to run his errand for him.  Sharon is thrilled that Nick created some alone time for them and they get busy again.

The Winters are at the GCAC dining room celebrating Mother’s Day, and Sam is even there!  He’s adorable.  Devon is also present.  They are all gushing over Lily, the perfect mom.

At the Ranch, the doorbell rings and Drinki opens the door to find Kyle, who is not exactly minding his manners and just says he is looking for Prick.  Drinki says she is used to single minded men, she is married to one. She tells him she doesn’t know where Prick is.  He asks her if he told her about Dina’s movie night and what happened.  Drinki says no and asks if Dina is alright.  Kyle says she is fine, they just had some family drama. Drinki says Prick probably didn’t mention it because she and Dina don’t get along.  Kyle asks what she could possibly have against his grandma.  She replies that Dina has something against her, and in spite of her sympathy for Dina’s condition, she doesn’t care to be belittled…and Dina did stab her, she tells him.  Kyle recalls and says that they told him about that.  Drinki says “that” could have critically injured her.  Kyle replies that, instead, she was barely scratched and he wishes his mother could have been so lucky when Drinki attacked her.  Drinki is taken aback and says she didn’t mean to… and he interrupts and tells her, no worries, he’s sure she didn’t mean to bother him or herself with such an unpleasant memory.  He goes to leave and she asks him to stay, saying that there are some things she needs to say to him, today of all days.  He tells her this is not the time, but she insists.  She wants him to know how sorry she is that, because of her, his mother is gone.  He replies that she is not gone, she is dead because of her.  Drinki says she will always feel terrible about that but she explains that Diane came at her. Kyle says and the only way Drinki could stop her was from bashing her head in with a rock, and he seems more than slightly skeptical.  Drinki goes on to explain that she had to keep Diane from hurting her, she had no choice.  Kyle says, how about screaming for help or running away, and she interrupts and says there was no…and he replies “Time?”.  He asks her how much time she spent mulling over the choice she made to stop Diane from having a child with Prick.  Drinki is trying back her way out of that, and he says: it’s different?  How?  You felt cornered so you lashed out.  Result?  Jack Abbott is my dad.  Drinki tells him that Jack is a wonderful man and he is lucky to have him as a father.  Kyle scoffs, and says she has serious skills.  She always has an excuse ready when she doesn’t want to admit who she really is.  Someone who, despite a wealth of choices, keeps choosing to hurt people.  Drinki tries to defend herself, and he points out that she forced him into the conversation on Mother’s Day, a day when he could be remembering his mom telling him a story, or walking him to school, or telling him a dumb joke.  Instead, she made it about herself, and now today, just like the hundreds of days since she killed his mom, the day will be filled with memories of how she died.  Drinki says she is so sorry. Kyle tells her she plays God with other people’s lives and makes excuses.  He tells her to drop the victim act and take responsibility because she has literally gotten away with murder. She is speechless, and he sarcastically wishes her a Happy Mother’s Day and leaves.  As much as I detest Kyle, I rather enjoyed his smack down of Drinki.

At the Abbotts’, Jack is pouring a drink, and Traci suggests coffee might be more appropriate.  Dina tells “John” that she doesn’t understand what kind of a test he is talking about.  Traci and Ash try to stop him, but he carries on.  Kyle walks in and Jack welcomes him.  Kyle says he is there for the opening of Dina’s presents, and indeed has one for her.  Jack tells them all that he is having his paternity tested against Billy’s.  Because Billy’s mother was desperate to have an Abbott, so he is pretty confident Billy is one.  Ash tells him that is enough and she tells him to go to the kitchen with her for some coffee.  He says he is fine, and Traci pretty much orders him into the kitchen, and he complies, begrudgingly.  Traci checks on Dina, who is confused.  Abby talks to Kyle and asks him why he wasn’t around last night and he says he needed some space, what with his dad flipping out and all.  She says, isn’t that what he expected?  She tells him that she is on to him, and that she and Ash know he recovered the video with Ravi’s help.  She says their family is going through hell right now and it is all because of him.  He denies messing with the movie but admits to finding the memory card. He says that when he viewed it, he knew it had to be kept a secret, it would kill his Dad.  He insists he didn’t do it, and Abby is skeptical.  He says it is because of the blood Abbott clause.  Why would he leak that video and ruin his chances at leading Jabot someday, that his dad is isn’t only one who has something to lose.

At Sharon’s, she and Nick are busy on the couch.  There is a loud knock on the door which they ignore, and then Sharon’s phone rings and she answers it.  It’s Drinki.  They button up their clothes and answer the door.  Nick says they have a while before the ceremony at Chancellor Park, why is she there?  She tells him she cancelled the ceremony because she had some major donors pull out of promoting it. This must be some garden.  BTW, Drinki, white pants are not a good look on you.  Drinki suggests that now that she has some free time, she wants to talk to Sharon about their charity event and they rush off to the main house to do so and leave Nick in mid sentence.

At the GCAC, Hilary is having a melt down because Drinki cancelled the ceremony without telling her.  Devon tries to calm her down.  Then Hil sees Sam and rushes over to greet the Winters and ooh and ahhh over Sam.  She tells Lily she hopes she is having a wonderful Mother’s Day.  All of the Winters look uncomfortable.

Ash and Abby are in the dining room discussing Kyle.  Abby fills Ash in, and tells her mom that she believes Kyle.  Abby wants to tell Jack, and Ash says absolutely not, that won’t accomplish a thing.  Traci calls from the living room saying that Dina is ready to open more gifts.  Dina opens a box of chocolates and talks about the many Mother’s Days she celebrated in this home, after brunch they would sit around and John always gave her a fabulous gift of jewellery.  Jack, sitting by the fireplace, says, and even that wasn’t enough.  Dina tells “John” that she is sorry if she upset him, that she loves him and she never meant to hurt him.  Jack chuckles, and says to his family, amazing, isn’t it, that she always thinks I look like him?  Traci firmly tells him that he has made his point.  Jack replies that he is just being positive, he has heard that he looks like his father his whole life.  He says it is all the more reason to not believe her story, just because his mother slept with half the country…and Abby is shocked with her hands on her face a la Home Alone, and Kyle says firmly, that is enough, Dad…and Jack finishes saying, it doesn’t mean I am not John Abbott’s son.  Kyle jumps to his feet, gets in Jack’s face and forcefully tells him to stop talking to his mother that way and to show some respect.  Jack is flabbergasted.

Sharon and Drinki go to the main house, and Drinki worries about what Nick is thinking. Sharon says he was suspicious a few days ago, but he has backed off because she has been screwing him every time his feeble brain starts to wonder about where JT is.  Okay, she left out that last part.  Drinki is losing it over all the killing she has done. She tells Sharon about Kyle’s visit and says that he went off on her.  She says that Kyle accused her and taunted her.  Drinki is sobbing.  Sharon reassures her that she is a good person and a good mother, and she killed all those people in self defense.  She points to the flowers and card that Vic sent as proof.  They are on the sofa hugging each other, emotional, and Nick walks in says, if he didn’t know better he’d think they were mother and daughter.  They cover by saying it is Mother’s Day emotion and worrying about Victoria.  Drinki says she is missing Vic. Nick says he understands, they are missing Noah.  Nick gives Drinki a plaque that he meant to present at the opening ceremony, so he gives it to her now.  It says it is from Drinki to her friend Kay etc., in honour of the garden, etc., relax-reflect-renew.  It is a sign that will be placed at Chancellor Garden.  Drinki thanks hims and Sharon looks worried.

Hil and Devon are at HWG.  He tells her he is looking for Simone’s replacement.  She says his next hire, he should keep it professional.  Devon says he is not going to be dating, because it is too complicated, he has a baby on the way.  Seriously?

Traci shepherds Dina to the den.  Dina tells her her mother is so lucky to have such a kind young woman as her daughter.  Traci looks back at the rest of them as if to give them a look to get their shit together.  Kyle chides Jack for going after Dina in her condition.  Jack says he knows the DNA test is a lie, but because of the kind of person Dina is, people will still believe it, no matter what he says or does.  Ash says she herself had to come to terms with who Dina was, and to let go of the anger she harbored towards her.  Jack says that is because she is just as bad as Dina, keeping the truth from Abby about Prick being her father. Ash is outraged and Abby says it is ancient history, and he doesn’t get to badger her mother about it.  Jack says it is a pattern of women playing with their children’s lives, and says that Diane did the same to Kyle, costing him years with him.  Kyle loses it and says, that’s it, saying he won’t let Jack trash his mom, not today.  Jack apologizes, sincerely, and Kyle says he believes him but he is not the only one he should be apologizing to and he leaves.  Later, Traci returns to the living room and says that Dina is resting and she hopes that Ash and Abby have the chance to talk some sense into Jack.  She asks where Kyle is, and Ash says he wisely left, because Jack went off again.  Abby says, this time, her mom and Diane were the targets.  Abby leaves to go track down Kyle and check on him.  Jack says he lost his temper, but Traci is pissed, and she tells him to get it together and try to be a decent son.  To find some forgiveness, and Jack says he doubts it.  She tells him this may be Dina’s last Mother’s Day.  She won’t remember but all the rest of them will.  Dina walks in holding up a scarf, and she says: the card says this was from you, oh, it’s exquisite!  Thank you, Traci, dear.  Traci is beaming and thanks her mother and they hug, and it is quite an emotional moment.  Traci says she is so happy to be sharing this special day with her.  Sniffle.  Jack looks surprised, and heartened.

At the GCAC, the Winters lovefest continues.  Charlie mentions Lily’s mom, and Lily talks about her, saying they would have adored her, and Lily says she misses her every day.  Okay, I have been wondering about these cloying happy family scenes we’ve been getting lately with Lane and kids. Something bad has to be coming.  Or, could it be the return of Drucilla???  They also mention poor dead Juliet, and how Sam will never know his mother.

At HWG, Hil is sad, and talking about her mom, and how she wishes she were there.  Devon comforts her.

At the manse, Traci has wrapped the scarf around Dina’s neck and tells her how chic she looks and how it reminds her of one she used to wear all the time, years ago.  Dina asks her if she worked there back then.  Jack looks crushed for Traci.  Traci tells her mother they have been in each other’s lives for a very long time. Traci says she will go to make tea.  She walks over to Jack and Ash, and she hugs Ash.  Jack is moved.  Ash asks her if she is okay.  Traci is sobbing but she says she is going to be just fine, because her mother knew her, for one brief, perfect moment she knew her, after so long of her not recognizing her.   She says she wasn’t sure they would ever have a connection again, and she looks at Jack and pointedly says that now she doesn’t know what the chances are of that happening ever again. First, Traci is so good at calling Jack out, well, calling anybody out, for that matter.  And, second, BM is just a powerhouse actor, please give her more to do, Show!

At the GCAC, Lily is holding Sam and saying how much she loves him as her family looks on adoringly.

At HWG, and Hil says if she is pregnant their baby will be born a few weeks later than announced.  She wants Devon to go along with the ruse, and he says he is fine with it.  He talks about celebrating MD next year with Hil and their brand new baby.  Blech.

Nick and Sharon return home and he thanks her for supporting his mom.  Mariah arrives home with the sassafras, and a gift for Sharon.  It’s a t-shirt with the Superman logo and the word Mom.  Sharon loves it.  Mariah talks about how super Sharon is to her kids and everyone else she helps, and she tells her: I love you, mom.  And they hug.

Abby finds Kyle at CL. She tells him that Jack was out of line with what he said to Dina and to Kyle.  Kyle says his dad doesn’t make it easy to be close to him, as much as Jack tries.  Abby asks Kyle how mad he is at Jack, and he realizes she still thinks he messed with the movie.  She says he is the most likely culprit.  Kyle says he wouldn’t hurt Dina that way and he wouldn’t ruin something that Abby put so much time and effort into.  He says it is not his style to publicly humiliate Jack as payback.  Abby says, not his style, but he does have a close relationship with Prick and he would it, and he was at the premiere.  I love how Abby is actually being more of an Abbott than a Newman lately.

At the manse, Jack is having a private moment with Dina, and apologizes to her.  She says she left him and his sisters.  And, he says: you had other men in your life, besides my…besides John Abbott.  She asks if she disappointed him?  He says yes, but he had no right to take that out on her.  He says she is a different person now, she has gone through so much, and he doesn’t want to make things harder or more painful or more confusing for her.  She thanks him, but admits she is the one who disappointed him and caused him pain.  He chokes up, and he tells her he thinks she is wrong about his paternity, and he says even if she is not, she is the only parent he has left and he is not going to take that for granted.  Dina is uplifted.  And he says, Happy Mother’s Day, mom, and she hugs him and thanks him.  These two are awesome together.

Next week previews:  Jack to Phyllis in his office:  I open this envelope, everything could change. Nothing would be as it was. At HWG, Devon and Hilary are dancing.  At Sharon’s house, Phyllis and Nick are listening to the police scanner that says that: suspect JT Hellstrom’s cellphone signal is back up and on the grid.  Nick says: did you hear that, that could be huge, and Phyllis replies, yeah, enormous.

OMG the winters Ashby family is so boring.

And does everyone have to rag on Jack all the time? God let him feel bad for 24 hours before the STOP BEING AN ASSHOLE JACK chorus begins. Diane and Ashley were INSANE running around stealing sterm and he was right to bring it up in this context.

Ashley HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN AND YELLED AT DINA UNTIL LAST MONTH SO ABOUT 35 YEARS after she found out but Jack doesn’t get ONE DAY OF LASHING OUT?

And fuck Kyle and his feelings. Five minutes ago he was talking about how his mother actually wanted Victor’s sperm but got stuck with Jack’s. But how dare Jack bring it up.

God I hate this show.

Traci scolds Jack differently, lovingly, so I don’t mind. He needed to snap out of it so he doesn’t lose a precious moment with Dina but Abby and Kyle and Ashley  can seriously go fuck themselves.

Oh so much yes to this @miamama.

Kyle's smackdown of Nikki was a beautiful thing but everything he said to the Abbotts was BS because we the audience know exactly what he did.  Even Abby has it figured out.

I agree that Jack should be given some latitude.  I am guessing when he gets the real DNA results, that is when his true spiral will begin. I actually thought he has been pretty measured in the last two episodes, not so much about his reaction to Dina or anyone else, just his reaction to the revelation.  So I was a wee bit disappointed.

I wonder if they were having one of those rare moments where they all simultaneously realize that the majority of them are assholes. It’s so awkward and weird, like someone at the table farted and there’s this miasma forming over the cherries jubilee while everyone hopes they aren’t fingered as the culprit. Well, except for Neil, only because he can’t pass gas past the stick in his ass. But, like, no one acknowledges the stench while cutting sideways glances at the person next to them, hoping to spot a fleeting expression of guilt. The moment passes and they return to being assholes and asshole enablers, narrowly escaping a soul puckering whisper of self awareness. Alas.

Watch out, Genoa City. Kyle is off the lawn and on the prowl, smirking and strutting as he seeks vessels to pour his toxic emotions into. He tears Nikki a new one (rightfully) while looking for the freeze dried donkey dick who shoved his beloved mother out of an ambulance. In fact, it sounded like he was sore because Diane was prevented from scraping Victor’s spunk out of the old sod’s canopic jar to create his wonderful self. Yes, Kyle, you missed out on some great father-child moments with Victor, like getting blown up or being arrested on your wedding day. Kyle is just plain awful.

I felt so bad for Traci, but was so glad she got her nice moment with Dina. What a shame Jack has to share his moment of truth with Phyllis. I don’t know why he’s testing himself against Buttbiscuit though, because I’m pretty sure Jack doesn’t have any of this in his DNA:

It’s so weird too. Who wishes their mom’s ovum had been fertilized by some other guy’s sperm? Your dad is your dad. I mean what the fuck? Mommy wanted to STEAL VICTOR’S SPERM BUT YOU STOPPED HIM YOU CRUEL BITCH.

Huh?

Actually Victor snarled “sorry Diane I had a vasectomy. Too bad so sad.” Jesus.

Does Kyle think he’d be the same but just be a Newman? Like same face body features etc but a richer more powerful father?

Lmao

So I wasn't watching when this storyline occurred and I was kind of stumped when Kyle said that today.  So he has been pissed his whole life because Diane got Jack's sperm instead of Prick's?  And he doesn't get that he would not be the same person?  Or he has such self loathing he would rather not ever have existed?  So confusing.

Yeah. Exactly. It makes no sense. People don’t think like this because it’s absurd. Kyle is Jack’s kid. Victor tried to win him over while Diane was alive and she made him legal guardian (as though a mother can unilaterally strip a father of all rights like that ffs). But this was about a month. Really it was WEEKS. And it was some retcon bullshit when Maura West played Diane and EB was pulling shit BTS to have Victor fucking another young woman onscreen.

Victor was no father to that kid. In any way shape or form. Diane used him — as she had intended during sperm caper — as a means to Victor Newman’s wealth and power.

Kyle has known since infancy that he’s an Abbott. This is pure horse shit to push Mal’s Let’s See Peter Cry A Lot storyline.

I think you’re right the big reaction is coming. He told Neil that he knows in the core of his being he’s John’s son. And all these memories of being John’s little man. They are to show us how anchored Jack is to this identity as John Abbott Jr. Without it he will shatter.

So I think the confirmation and Kyle’s betrayal will be what set him off.

Currently I notice he is choosing not to believe it except in moments. And Ashley has said a few times it took her years to accept. So he hasn’t actually accepted it.

But unfortunately I expect it to be “Everyone pile on Jack” as a result (and as we predicted) for the entire storyline.

I actually read that as Kyle calling Nikki out for messing with people's lives, taking actions that had consequences for other people and rarely for herself, not focusing so much on the Victor part of it. He finished off by reminding her she'd gotten away with murder, which makes sense if he's saying she gets away with a lot, and could stand to wake up to how damaging she has been to people lives, instead of judging others for that.

I think there was a lot of that in there too. Unfortunately Kyle doesn’t realize what a solid Nikki did him by cutting him off from the Newman gene pool. It’s quite rich of him to lecture her on messing with people and not paying the piper when Nikki learned that shit from the dark master, a man whose withered flank Kyle can’t stop kissing. The gnome has every right to be pissed off that Nikki got away with killing his mother. Kyle’s devotion to a man who abused Diane and stays married to her murderer is really odd. It would be interesting to really explore the dynamic, but I think Young is only bringing this stuff up to parallel the JT garbage. It would also be interesting for Nikki to really reckon with killing as many people as she has, but I doubt we’ll get that either.

Yep.

And Kyle calling someone out for being a self-centered psychopath is a little like Uriah Heep berating someone for being insincere.

Too bad Nikki didn't have her shovel and gardening gloves handy.

Wyatt Earp: What makes a man like Ringo, Doc? What makes him do the things he does?

Doc Holliday: A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.

Wyatt Earp: What does he need?

Doc Holliday: Revenge.

Yes, right. And I also agree with @NinjaPenguins that it was really to bring in the JT story. However show history intrudes for some of us, Mal. To wit: Diane was so conniving (and messy with people’s lives) she stole Victor’s jizz and kept it in a freezer in her apartment secretly, lmao. (The very jizz that Ashley would steal to make Abby!!) So yeah Nikki manipulates but she is apparently quite a normal woman in GC. In fact Kyle should have agreed with Jack when he brought it up instead of wah wah mother’s day my mommy. Sorry I can’t feel compassion for this one-note psychopath. And inserting Diane (who dumped her fiancé Jack when she saw a chance to be Mrs Victor Newman) as a means to create sympathy for this Ted Bundy freak who strolled into town hellbent on becoming Victor’s favourite little pet by fucking over his father was a colossal fail imo.

Ok this is my last post about this I promise.

Kyle is offended by Nikki messing with PEOPLE’S LIVES but admires same qualities in Victor, for whom he so desperately wants to work???? (Mal explains in a soap mag that Kyle wants to learn to be ruthless from TGVN.)

He hates Nikki for killing his mom in self defence but LOVES Victor who with premeditation and YEARS OF PLANNING had his father kidnapped/raped/tortured and SHOT IN THE CHEST all to steal his family’s company?

Omg Mal STOP.

Which brings us back to the stupidity of this kid who cannot grasp how DNA works. He wouldn’t be HIM if Diane had been successful in her sperm theft.

Basically he thinks his dad(imperfect but decent man) is a loser and wishes Victor Newman (Satan) was his dad. Thus rendering him utterly unsympathetic — No matter how many speeches he gives about being an Abbott outsider.

Omg Mal STOP.

Mal finally started reading selected sections of the show's story bible, apparently. He's not looking for logical spin-off material, he's looking for anything that might save him from having to do something original or creative with excellent legacy characters. BTW, this last category does not include that entitled turd, Kyle.

So poor viewers end up with the Exposition Fairy running rampant in steel-toed boots in every episode. Mal says, "Look! I read about Diane! [At least some of it--I let the assistant read the rest.]" And we poor suffering multitudes get Mal's endless use of forced-parallel storylines and contortions of character behaviour.

His strip-mining of story history isn't so different from what Carlivati's doing at DOOL, but, both shows considered, and IMO, Mal's running second in this race.

Diane was still living in Victor’s penthouse after their divorce. When married Victor secretly had a vasectomy thus freezing some sperm. She kept the stolen jizz locked there. Ashley and Nikki both somehow found out about it and so Ash used her old key and got the jizz for herself (I can’t believe I’m typing this shit). Nikki later unplugged the freezer. Diane was maaaaad but Nikki had thwarted her. Diane and Nikki didn’t know about Ash scooping up the magic Victor jizz. The clinic got another sample of Vic jizz but Nikki switched it for Jack’s (who had a plot-driven prostate cancer scare and so froze his). Diane struck again was fertilized successfully and thought she birthed Victor’s kid, even naming him Christian Adam Newman. But alas she got Jack jizz.

Both Kyle and Abby have alluded to this story so they know. And Abby was a Carlton for some time, which show ignores.

Victor and Kyle could not have tampered with both.

I don't think Jack will not be an Abbott in the end. It is just a matter of how long TPTB will string Jack and the viewers along. With the first test, either Tracy isn't John's daughter, or one of both of the hairs tested were someone else's. I think Victor tampered (or of course paid someone to tamper) with the second  test. Victor isn't going to go to all the trouble of inserting the footage into the movie, onto to have Jack only think for a day or two that he isn't an Abbott. He would make sure that Jack thinks he is not, one way or another. In fact he wouldn't have to tamper with the test, just tamper with the result that Jack received on paper. A piece of cake for Victor.

Yeah I am still inclined to believe Jack remains an Abbott but Mal is writing himself into a corner and getting out will look ridiculous.

Also I don’t think Victor or Kyle edited the video. Victor was very pissed at Abby’s accusation and it’s not really his style to hide his success re: fucking Jack over.

Mal likes to surprise us. That leaves Ravi. It might have been some misguided attempt at avenging Ashley’s honour. Jack pointedly remarked that Ravi was still lovesick.

He apologized to Ash super fast (ie before Kyle tells Ash that Ravi had fixed the drive). Ash said — again it struck me a bit pointedly — that she TRUSTS him totally. He said the projectionist knows a guy at Jabot so he (Ravi) had access to the video. He probably figured Kyle would sit on the info to preserve his position at Jabot. Ravi wanted this public so Jack feels what Ash felt and is forced out at Jabot, hopefully ushering Ash back.

Ravi is an expendable character.

Yeah it’s Ravi.

ETA: also a piece of cake for IT expert Ravi to alter DNA report.
