Athena June 2, 2018 Share June 2, 2018 Quote The guests on Graham's sofa are Ethan Hawke, who stars in First Reformed, Toni Collette, starring in Hereditary, and Aidan Turner, who is in the West End with The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Jo Brand talks about her new film The More You Ignore Me. Plus music from Liam Payne, who performs Familiar. Link to comment
walnutqueen June 9, 2018 Share June 9, 2018 "My face is everywhere". Most especially under your fingernails, what's-your-name. You need those newborn baby mittens, or a fucking shave, Dude. Stop with the facey scratchey, already. Way to make someone else's near death experience all about you, Ethan Hawke. Toni & Jo? We hardly knew yew. Even the red chair was a bit of a letdown - a woman walks because her kid licked bird poop? 2 Link to comment
applecrisp June 9, 2018 Share June 9, 2018 WQ that is fucking Aiden Turner. Heartthrob and star of Poldark. He and Colin Farrell are 2 Irish lads that are the sexiest men on earth. Seriously watch Poldark it is great. But Aiden does look better clean shaven. I was so glad he was finally on Graham's show. 2 Link to comment

(No, not that way.) I feel like I'm channeling my mother when I was a kid with eczema: Stop. Your. Scratching! I would like it if Jo Brand lived next door. You just know she'd be a good laugh over the fence. I surprised myself by actually being charmed by those wee knitted figurines. 3 Link to comment

Lest we both forget, I watched Poldark for far too long, and that heartthrob left me with a cold, dark --- "heart". So much of a turnoff, I actually turned off the rest of the series. :-) Colin Farrell, on the other hand? Could do me 'till the day I die. I'd even make a slight allowance for beard scratching - as long as it didn't touch my tickly bits. ;-D 37 minutes ago, attica said: Boy, I wanted to crawl through the screen and lotion his face. MissLucas June 9, 2018 Share June 9, 2018 I know most people do not care but I was glad that someone finally pointed out that Poldark's handling of a scythe was painful to watch (same goes for Sidney Chambers btw.) - indeed it did distract me from ahem... other things and that's hard to forgive. 3 Link to comment
atlantaloves June 9, 2018 Share June 9, 2018 I still can't get over the fact that Aidan was a professional ballroom dancer. There has got to be some film of him somewhere folks! That was a pretty good show, Jo is so friggin funny! 4 Link to comment

What scythe? All I remember is a shirtless outdoor scene. ;-) 11 hours ago, walnutqueen said: a fucking shave In the poster Turner is clean shaven, so I guess the play hadn't started yet? I think the scratching stuff might have been self-consciousness, because I didn't see it when the focus wasn't on him. 1 hour ago, attica said: I surprised myself by actually being charmed by those wee knitted figurines. applecrisp June 9, 2018 Share June 9, 2018 Well I hear Colin Farrell likes 'em older, so there is hope for us Walnut. No word on Aiden. I loved the knitted Graham. 1 Link to comment

I used to know a doctor who was on the list at the NY Met Opera for free seats. Apparently they have a rotation so that there's always 'a doctor in the house.' Which seems smart, but maybe smaller theaters can't spare the seat and just have to take their chances. 4 Link to comment

But the last kind of romantic relationship I had. Which was never consummated.” <snip> "I just adored her, she was a spectacular, spectacular woman. Just when I thought I'd put all childish things behind me, there's THAT. Gotta say, he's foine. Almost foine enough to reconsider celibacy ... and since I won't be having a funeral I could go straight to hell in a handbasket for imagining him discovering what my screen name truly means. At least he acknowledged it with the idea that he needs too much attention on himself. I rewatched Graham reacting to Susan and Jackie a few time. Adorable!! I didn’t even notice Aiden Turner being scratchy. I might have to watch again. For, uh, science. 5 Link to comment
MissLucas June 10, 2018 Share June 10, 2018 I had no problems with Hawke - quite the contrary. His Robin Williams story was great (damn it still hurts). I also saw him on the Colbert show where he spent a huge deal of his interview praising another actor (Marc Rylance). Different day - different energy. I find the Red Chair stories this season seriously underwhelming. 7 Link to comment
peeayebee June 12, 2018 Share June 12, 2018 I enjoyed the show. I didn't notice any weird scratching from anyone, and I thought Ethan was just fine. I heard him speak about this new film and his general film choices on the radio recently, and he came across as intelligent and perceptive. I'm very curious about Toni's new film, but I can't watch scary films. Either they give me nightmares or I just can't sleep. Or both. Sometimes even reading the synopsis and spoilers is enough to give me nightmares. I haven't watched Poldark. I guess I should, huh? Link to comment
attica June 12, 2018 Share June 12, 2018 I remember LOVING the Poldark series of the 70s. I watched the first two seasons of this incarnation and gave it up. It's fine, you know, the cast is pretty and the costumes are great (when they wear them, heh), but the source material is awfully dated, sexual politics-wise. Plus, all of the problems encountered by the characters would be solved with Fewer Secrets, which is a trope that doesn't work for me anymore. Sheesh, people, have a fucking conversation! Stop pining from behind the draperies! Use your words! (In other words, it's a pretty standard soap. Loved 'em when I was a teenager, not so much now.) 3 Link to comment
