Can't believe that guy did not shoot Adam and how that Adam could have trusted his so called snitch to beat the crap out of him

Really Vitto knows what he is talking about in restaurant wise but this restaurant thing is dragging on. Glad he recognize that over on the man who tried to kill Danny. Really the guy is funny but also cares.

And hope that will wrap up the who killed or tried to kill Danno.

Overall it was a 7/10 as really that man could had gotten his wife and daughter killed.

"No one at the school is talking".

*immediately blabs about the case in front of perspective parents*

I know I rip on the show a lot, but there were some funny moments in this episode. I'm wondering if Big Pussy/Vito whacking Danny in the head was an ad lib because Scott Caan looked visibly ticked off.

On the other hand, I find the restaurant plot beyond boring, and I just can't with Adam's show within a show.

I get the feeling they wanted to showcase the new actors on their own case, but I found it highly amusing because they were so obvious at it and then literally everyone talked.

I was actually surprised the show spelled out how stupid the plot is. Of course, the restaurant is now going to be an unqualified success because Five 0 shits strawberry ice cream.

I was hoping that the liquor guy took the bribe. I mean, come on. Getting your liquor license bumped up seems par for the course. The guy was like, "that's not fair to bump down someone who got their paperwork in on time." No, it's not, but you're telling me literally everyone else got theirs in on time and Steve didn't. How about just bumping someone else who was late that isn't taking down drug lords and human trafficking on the regs? I don't why I'm commenting on this because the restaurant plot is dumb, but I found the fact that the liquor guy wouldn't to be more unbelievable. Sure, he can't straight up take money directly offered or even the dinner and probably has to report it, but that wasn't Pussy's opening argument.

Adam is SO BAD at this job.

"I don't think you can prove what you just said." Really? The DNA marker indicates a female shot the gun. You are not a female. I think that's reason enough to pursue the case further.

That was Robyn Lively, a.k.a. Teen Witch, right? She looks amazing.

Loved Uncle Vito's rant about how the restaurant is completely unrealistic for Steve and Danny to run with their work schedules. It's about time someone said it.

I was under the impression that Steve didn't get the paperwork in "on time" because of his inexperience, i.e., that he was ignorant of how long it would take, and not because he flaked or procrastinated.

Steve certainly could have chosen not to charge the husband with the murder because of the DNA evidence. He'd still have him on the financial/cartel deal. I guess then he could pursue evidence against the wife, or make a deal with her in exchange for a lighter sentence for the husband. Yeah, how it ended is pretty unrealistic but I guess it left the little girl with one parent?

Maybe Adam can run the restaurant.

AND THE BUGS.

Yeah I think that was the point when Pussy was yelling at them at the end. They don't know what they're doing, so it's going to lead to things like not having the liquor license on time. Of course that probably means good ol' Uncle will be running the restaurant with no doubt hijinks ensuing.

How exactly is Big Pussy Danny's uncle? His parents are Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger. Pretty sure Danny's supposed to be Irish. (Of course if they've already explained that he's not a real uncle but Danny calls him that because reasons, then never mind me.)

It seems like it would have been easier and more convincing to borrow someone's baby and take pictures than to photoshop a giant baby over that footstool or drum or whatever it was Tani and Junior were posing with.

Eddie sighting!

Yes! The whole time I was thinking: when was Danny Italian? Did I know this? I'm guessing they just want us to remember Caan Sr. and the Godfather and hand wave the rest.

Probably because Uncle Vito said he had been talking with the guy about Danny at some point, presumably & logically, before Danny was shot about how Danny used to be a cop in New Jersey & had moved to Hawaii (it appears Vito may have--presumably, hopefully unwittingly--told the shooter generally how to find Danny before he was shot).

Yes, according to the Press Release linked at the beginning of the thread, Robyn Lively played Helen Meech (I think that was the character's name).

I'm not convinced that it was "on TV".  Because when they all looked at the screen, the image was frozen and there was no commentary.  I believe that 5-0 keeps that screengrab always visible to remind them to keep looking for answers about that guy.

Actually, the DNA evidence showed only that a female had held or handled the gun recently.  Since the gun belonged to the husband and was presumably kept in the home where the wife could easily access it, any defense attorney would maintain that the wife's DNA was just the result of touching it innocently.

Vito isn't Danny's real uncle--the word uncle is in quotation marks in the press release announcing the casting & the character's description/background/connection to Danny, so you know (hopefully) Vito's not a real uncle to Danny. He's probably more like a close family friend at least Danny got to call "Uncle" while growing up, like at least Danny's & Grover's kids do with Steve, & like Chin called Kono "Auntie Kono" in talking with his niece, Sara (when he, most of Five-0, & Adam went to rescue her after she was kidnaped from her Mexican, biological, aunt & uncle's custody to get even with Five-0 for killing the head of a drug cartel they took down); when Chin & Sara were reunited, before he traded himself for her he told Sara to get in the car he'd driven there, lock it, & wait for Auntie Kono to come get her, & she'd be there soon.

In the context of the show it's a Hawaiian "thing", regarding showing respect to your elders (Kono even called Kamekona "uncle", way back in S1, when she took the suspect's young daughter to Waiola Shave Ice in the ep about the hostage situation involving the USS Missouri tour group). But it's also done on the Mainland, Alaska, & other places (I got to do it with friends of my parents, while growing up, too). Though, admittedly, it might be hard for others to figure out if you mean a related or non-related "Auntie" or "Uncle" when discussing people in your life with that designation.

Well, the restaurant Steve & Danny are trying to open is Italian. And I think, in the ep which started with the flash forward scene where Steve & Danny are actually running the restaurant & each of them is trying 1 of the dishes either on that night's menu or up for consideration as a menu addition (which ends with the news report about a cop, who ends up being Danny, dying at King's Medical Center that night, & blood appearing on Danny's chest area as Steve tells him he's the dead cop when they're talking about the news report) I'd swear Steve (or Danny) said something about how Danny's grandma would have liked 1 of the dishes, or that version of 1 of the dishes. Danny's grandma was mentioned, for some reason, anyway.

Yeah, but if the guy didn't have any powder burns on him, then you can say he didn't fire the gun. My point was, if Steve thinks the guy didn't do it, I think he has an obligation to do what he can.

All the guy said was "I did it." Ok, how? A confession isn't "yes it was me."

Thanks, Uncle Chuck, for the explanation about the TV bit. I thought they were watching a news clip that showed the shooter, but it didn’t makes sense because there was no context as to why his picture was on a news broadcast.

The DNA bit at the end didn’t make much sense to me, but it is Five-0 we are talking about.

Uncle Vito could be an uncle by marriage - married to one of Danny’s parents sisters.  But he really should go back to NJ and take the whole storyline with him.

I thought the restaurant thing was supposed to be a retirement gig.  How are two guys who work a job with no set hours going to run a restaurant?  And when is Danny planning on seeing his kids?

I have given up on trying to follow Adam’s storyline.

The restaurant plot makes no sense but I enjoy it anyway. The truthbombs uncle Vito delivered this episode were great.

I realize that they wanted to keep Adam (or Ian Anthony Dale) around but that plot really isn't working. There have to be better ways to keep him on as semi-regular character.

You just have to love the Task Force Commander who personally handles the jackhammer instead of running a Task Force. Who knows he may have had a clue that he has a missing undercover operative in peril.

At some point, Steve & Danny were talking about the restaurant & 1 of them said they could hire someone to run it for them until they could run it for themselves. It was in an ep, but I forget which 1.

As for Danny planning on seeing his kids, it feels like he's only got 1 kid now, Charlie, because he's still young & cute; & it seems like Teilor Grubbs/Gracie hasn't been in hardly any episodes this season, either because Teilor grew out of being the "cute" kid a lot of the audience likes watching (which the kid playing Charlie still is) or because Teilor's family moved to LA to try & further develop her career & that's a long schlep, even though a number of the adults on H50 do it too.

I assume Danny has legal & physical joint custody of both Charlie & Grace now. He won joint physical custody of Grace in S4 after Rachel filed a custody modification request, at the end of S2, allowing Rachel, Grace, & Charlie (who wasn't acknowledged to be Danny's son then) to move to Las Vegas where Rachel's 2nd husband, Stan, was working on a new casino resort, or something; & Danny filed his own custody modification request in response, asking for Joint Physical Custody--or something closer to that than he apparently already had--& the right to give permission to Rachel if she wanted to take Gracie off the island, because he felt Gracie had put down roots & had made friends in Hawaii, & it wouldn't be fair to her to have to go somewhere else & start over, & it also wasn't fair to Danny to make him pack up & move every time Stan got a job in a new city/country just to be able to maintain contact with Grace (like his moving to Hawaii after his divorce & Rachel's remarriage).

If Uncle Vito were married to 1 of Eddie or Clara's (Danny's parents') sisters (if they have any) at least in my family (& probably in others) Vito'd be an uncle without the quotation marks around it because there is a familial relationship between them, even if a blood tie doesn't exist. The quotations, at least the way I know them, are only used when someone who isn't a biological/blood relation is considered family.

Composed soccer mom Tani cracked me up.

This was the first time I think we've seen badass "former SEAL" Junior come out to play.  Usually he seems to be the bumbling rookie, but he took the kidnapper out like a true special forces guy.

I agree, I think that head slap to Danny was an ad lib, Scott Caan did look seriously annoyed by it, and it was a little awkward until he quipped something about not messing up his hair--which also seemed to be a "save the moment" ad lib.

I can't put my finger on it, but there was something somehow wrong with actor's face who played the developer husband covering for his wife.  It seemed kind of...plastic.

Adam, Adam, Adam...that was some quick thinking on his part to take the Yakuza guy to the gun he knew was buried.  He knew he had to show the guy something or he'd be dead for sure.  That scene at the beginning with all the CGI ants was freaking me out, and it seemed when Adam was roused by the bucket of water, he had welts and bites on his face and arms while he was still groggily waking up, but they disappeared in the next scene.  Was that supposed to indicate that the ants were a hallucination from deep in Adam's store of nightmares, or just sloppy continuity?  Are he and Kono going to divorce?  Or are we just going to continue to pretend she never existed?  Because her quest to end human trafficking and Adam's undercover work for 5-0 is giving them severely diverging lives, and there's just no coming back from that.

I don't mind the restaurant stuff.  I don't much care for Danny's uncle, so he can be gone anytime now.  I just don't care for "Mobby" actors or characters.  Yes, it is ridiculous for the boys to be opening a restaurant with their schedules and lack of skills, but it is a setting other than the Camaro, the office, or the beach at Steve's house for Steve and Danny to get their bicker on.  Gives them something to bicker about too, rather than the increasingly acrimonious personal digs they seem to be getting into lately during the carguments.

The show, & I like to think a lot of viewers, isn't pretending Kono, or Chin, never existed. Steve told Tani some story about Chin while they were paddleboarding at the Hilton Hawaiian Village before they got a recent case. She said something about she was hoping to meet Chin & Steve said he thought that would probably happen because everybody who leaves Hawaii usually comes home.

Steve & Danny, & Steve & Adam, if not the rest of the older team members, have also talked about Kono, &/or Chin. And in the episode which started with the flash forward to Steve & Danny tasting food & talking with each other about Duke Lukela & his wife coming to the restaurant for dinner later that evening, & talking to a chef & a waitress (which ended up with Steve telling Danny, during a news report about an HPD Detective--which Danny technically still is despite working with Five-0--dying at King's Hospital that night, that Danny was the murdered detective... after which blood started to appear on his chest, & Danny actually was shot & critically injured later in the episode, by a still mystery man, while he, Steve, Tani, & Junior were in isolation at the hospital because they'd been exposed to a deadly virus) they showed this wall of photographs that are supposed to be on display in the restaurant; because of the people whose pics are in that grouping, I think it's supposed to be people Steve & Danny think of as ʻohāna. Among the photos they showed were Steve's late Aunt Deb, I think Danny's children, Grace & Charlie (if I remember correctly), Chin, & Kono (not necessarily in that order), & others I can't remember now because I can't get that scene completely in my head.

So they're not pretending Kono, & Chin, never existed (despite the way Grace & Daniel left the show). In fact, quite the contrary.
